On a road trip and decided to stop here. We started with the corn tortilla chips and queso. It's a little spicy if that's a concern for you but it is delcious. Probably a 9.5/10. i wish it was a little thicker/cheesier but it's still excellent. I got a veggie bowl with side corn and it was delicious but a little too salty for me. I'd give it an 8/10. We got take out here during covid. It's a really creative fun place. It has a local southern flair to street tacos. The food was spicy but good. We were visiting from out of town and our friend reccomended this place. i am so glad she did! Although 1 1/2 hours away from home we will be back for sure. It was impressively delicious - I had gotten the blacked shrimp taco and my bf had gotten the blackened shrimp taco , Korean BBQ , and the commonwealth. They were all soo good but my favorite was the shrimp for sure. Their salsa was said to be made in house and honestly was the best salsa ive ever had. The waitress had brought over the owner as we had some questions of what was in the salsa. He was very warm and welcoming. I have been a couple of times when I was in the area. Every time I am kind of disappointed. A few tacos I really like the ingredients, but they do not cook the tortillas. They are straight out of the bag. So close, to being great, but not taking 30 seconds to cook a tortilla kills it. read more

We stopped here for dinner on our way south for Spring break. We ordered chips and guacamole to start. The guacamole was delicious and the chips were fresh, thin, and crispy. I enjoyed a house margarita on the rocks. It was fantastic! My husband and I both had the Southwest salad. The salad ingredients were very fresh and the avocado ranch dressing was yummy! Came here today for the first time on a whim. Originally drove out to the area for Starbucks but found this restaurant while looking on google maps. I'm a big fan of tacos and needless to say I'm glad I stopped in! So, upon entering the building I walked up to the checkout desk and one of the waitresses informed me I can sit anywhere and someone will be right with me. Acknowledgement as a customer is the main goal. So I seated myself at the bar seeing as mostly all the tables were taken and there were only a few open but since I was there by myself there was no since in sitting at one when someone else with a bigger group could use it. So, to cut to the main line here, the waitress started me off with a drink while I browsed the menu. Allot of the food on there sounded delicious but I figured, first time being there I would pick a few things I knew I would like. When the waitress came back over I was ready to order. I ended up ordering the voodoo fries, fried catfish taco, Baja shrimp taco and the Carolina taco. It was a very short weight which I was very happy about normally when you go to a restaurant and there are a lot of customers in there it usually takes a significant amount of time to get your order which is more than understandable. I'm not sure who brought my food out it seemed like maybe the owner or the head cook which was pretty awesome to be provided service like that as a customer. So thumbs up to them so my opinion of my order, I was a huge fan of the shrimp taco and the voodoo fries. The Carolina taco was pretty good as well. Now onto the catfish taco, I wasn't really as big a fan of it. I mean it wasn't terrible but it wasn't something I could see myself ordering my next time around. Overall I had a great experience. It was a very clean establishment and excellent service. The waitress made sure I was taken care of with multiple refills and whatever else I needed which was amazing because a lot of restaurants the waiters/waitresses tend to not really make you feel like you're wanted as a customer. The commonwealth taco changed my life for the better. Hehe jk but that and the Philly steak tacos were the bomb! I had the street corn as a side and that was awesome, too. We ordered the trio with guac, queso, and salsa and all of them were SO good! My favorite was probably the queso but the guac was very fresh and the salsa had a lot of fresh cilantro. Yum! Over the pas few months I worked at Local taco and my experience working here has been terrible, the owners had the worst attitude towards their coworkers and would go out of their way just to say something disrespectful and make them feel like trash. This has happened to me multiple times and even multiple times daily. I tried so hard to do everything correctly and if I messed up one time I'd get scolded or yelled at. I've eaten here with my wife twice and both times we received good service. We got tacos both times, and they are not your average tacos. My favorite is the Philly Steak taco, but I've tried 8 or so different ones, and liked them all. This hands down has to be the best taco joint in the United States... it is literally taste explosion after taste explosion in your mouth. Atlanta's Tacqueria del Sol? Nashville's Bartaco? This place makes them look like amateurs. And the best news is it's really affordable. The interior is nothing flashy but don't let that scare you away. I think what makes their tacos so amazing besides the perfect execution of flavors is you get so much more filling compared to other taco joints. Always check out the specials... so far, the Commonwealth, South Carolina BBQ, and the Philly Cheesesteak have been favorites. Off the regular menu, I love the Korean BBQ and the Brisket. And each taco is unique and delivers something different than the rest, so there's a lot to explore! My one suggestion is that there should be a way to separate tacos from each other in the baskets because the juices from my Korean BBQ can run on to my other tacos, so I get that sesame/soy taste sometimes on tacos it doesn't belong. But it's honestly trivial compared to the zen state these tacos put me in. I can count on one hand the restaurants I've eaten at where I had an emotional experience with what I'm eating. Aimed to eat on the patio but it was so windy I moved inside.This is a small but cute eatery on a shopping strip right across the street from the hospital. I ordered three tacos: the Nashville hot chicken, the blackened grouper and the gringo. They looked like a sloppy mess when they came to me and it was hard to make out what each one was. Asked for the Pico on the side with the gringo because I hate onions. The Nashville hot chicken had a bit of a kick and I could have done without the diced sweet pickles on top. The flavor of the pickles didn't seem to mesh with the rest of the taco and it was a large amount. I didn't realize the jicama slaw on the blackened grouper meant a ton of onions so I picked those off and it was fine. The flavor was a bit tangy and sweet. Not bad. My unexpected favorite was the gringo. The beef was well-seasoned and the cheese offered a pleasant compliment. It was covered in crispy shredded lettuce. Although I usually try to be a bit daring in my food choices the delicious simplicity of the gringo took me by surprise. Gringo for the win! Each taco was $3.25 and they were small. When Local Taco first opened I ate there twice and it was terrible each time, the first time the tacos were watery the second time I got some type of fish taco and the fish tasted terrible. Really great queso and interesting taco selections. I was initially worried that the food would seem too gimmicky or overdone with ingredients (after all, it still needs to be a taco place). But I was happily surprised! I ordered three tacos: The Alabama White, the Carolina, and the Nashville Hot. All three were markedly different than your standard taco fare, but all three were super tasty. My one downside was that all three tacos were served with cole-slaw on the top, which made all three taste more the same than I will want when I go beck for seconds. It was my fault for not paying more attention, but it really did shape my experience. On a suggestion from a coworker I also got chips and queso, and it was SO worth it. I have always loved their food but the service tonight was over the top. On a busy friday night at 6:00 I expected a wait. The parking lot is always busy so my husband dropped me off. A waitress approached me and asked me how many were in my party, I told her 2 and asked her how long the wait would be, she replied, not too long as a few tables in her area we're finishing up. I went outside to tell my husband that he should park so we could eat there. When I walk back in the owner approached me and said there were probably three groups ahead of us, of which I knew a couple walked in after me, I told her I had already been in and she said she would keep an eye open for a table. I was approached by yet another waitress, who asked how many in our party and said she would also keep an eye open for a table in her area. We were seated within 10 minutes as well as the other parties that came in at about the same time. The service was fast, food amazing, especially the trio appetizer of salsa, guac and their not to be missed queso with addictive chips.
