They were experienced and knowledgeable about the Kern river, which made us feel comfortable and allowed us to enjoy our first ride on rapids. We were given a choice between large and small rafts, and we opted for the larger raft so we could all ride together. After our time on the river, our guides had excellent suggestions for where to have a great meal and other sites to see while in the area.

This took about 2 hours and it was SO worth it. They even have a little too swing at your final destination. Honestly, my casts were horrible on the first day, but by day two I was much improved. Derrick was very patient and coached me along every step of the way. Also, WGS provides literally everything you need for your outing. They had a nice set of waders and wading boots as well as rods/reels. I brought my own fly rod and Derrick got it all set up for me. It was a great two days and I will be bringing my son back and using WGS to get him started as well. As an absolute beginner, I had watched many videos and read a lot about fly fishing before going out. It helps, but nothing beats the hands on training and being out there doing it. I still have a lot to learn, but feel confident that I could go back on my own and know what I was doing.
