Highly recommend.

Matthew did his best to calm me during the procedure. The bad: Dr Colby seemed very rushed on both my visits. His bedside manner leaves a little to be desired, and while I didn't expect this to be a walk in the park I think he could have shown more empathy when I was clearly panicking during the procedure. Frankly, he didn't seem to care that I was having very hard time, I had to ask for a break not the other way around. The bad: Billing - I asked the desk for a pre-treatment coverage verification last year due to the cost of the procedure and was told "we don't do those for MetLife - they take too long" even though I was not scheduled to return for four months. On my second visit, I asked for a down payment exception and the office manager Laurie was downright hostile when I did so, barely entering the room to speak to me and shouting "25% is the best I can do!" before storming off. When I asked her to please review the coverage description that I had printed and brought with me, she quite literally refused. What a way to treat to patients. I will never return to this facility and hope the owner who has worked so hard to build his practice gets closer to his patients to observe how they are being treated by his own employees.

I was given a price for my insurance company covering part of that procedure and I have yet to get my portion back from Dr. 's office. I have repeatedly sent documentation to them. I was originally told that the woman who did billing just up and left so they were trying to figure things out and they would give me a call. no call. Sent out all the paperwork again and even called. Never received a call. I have been requesting money for the anesthesia that I got billed for two hours and I only had anesthesia for 45 minutes. That's $600.00 an hour. So that's a big chunk of money to charge me for. So they fully know that they owe you money, but they refuse to do the honorable thing and give it back to you, which is probably why they have six offices. This is horrible practice and I don't know how they sleep at night screwing patients over. Apparently no one had any conscience at this place. Definitely will never recommend and will continue warn people I'd give them no stars

I am,…read moresuffice it to say, disappointed with the outcome, and was made to feel objectified while under his care. While I understand that medical procedures can sometimes be unpredictable, my experience left me with several concerns. During my appointment, Dr. Kanter, allegedly, encountered difficulty in finding a vein for the administration of anesthesia. He poked me several times in each arm, 4-5 in total, without success. I have a fear of needles, and was very lightheaded, near fainting, after these attempts. Dr. Kanter then asked if he could remove my wisdom teeth using only local anesthetic. I said yes, and received 4 painful novocaine shots to my lower jaw only. When he began, I could feel what he was doing. I made noise, and was visibly crying, but couldn't speak due to the numbing of my lower jaw. Due to the pain and trauma of the experience, Dr. Kanter only removed one of my wisdom teeth during the appointment. Throughout the appointment, Dr. Kanter and his assistants commented not only on my weight, but also on the scarring I have on my arms. They spoke about me as if I were not sitting right in front of them, and I could not say anything, as my mouth was numb. Afterwards, I was prescribed a day's worth of painkillers. The numbing began to wear off very quickly, and I was in extreme pain. Two hours later, my pharmacy had yet to receive the prescription. My mother called, and Dr. Kanter's office informed her that they were not at fault, and nothing could be done. Shortly after she called, the order arrived at my pharmacy, which I found to be somewhat suspect. I was hoping for a smoother experience, considering the nature of the procedure and the discomfort associated with wisdom teeth. Communication during the appointment was abysmal, and I wasn't prepared for the change in plans. I believe that it's important for medical professionals to be well-prepared for a range of scenarios, and while I understand that complications can arise, I was left with trauma from this experience. I strongly encourage others to exercise caution with Dr. Kanter and make their own judgments.

This was during the pandemic and he seemed to take COVID-19 more seriously than other places. A year after the pandemic the place has good practices with air sanitizers, masking, and cleaner. Every visit was professional and people were in a good mood. Only note I have does not have to do with Dr. Khan. I came here because another place pulled my tooth. I refused to go back after I found out that an option was to redo the root canal. Yes, that's possible even if it's already been root canaled. The other place did not explain that an implant is a "best we can do" replacement, not an exact replacement of a real tooth with your original gum outline. Dental insurance does not cover an implant, and they made it seem like it would be more cost effective if I get it pulled. I can afford a few grand to keep all my original body parts! Point is a retreatment should be done, the chances of it failing are not 100%, a tooth pulling should not be the next option after a root canal. I still have some random light discomfort. I would have no problem getting an implant if a retreatment failed, but because of a bad second opinion, I have a fake tooth with me until am dead, or medical science figures out how to grow teeth again. To be clear, the place that pulled my tooth put me in this situation, and Dr. Khan was not involved in that. He was excellent and I have already recommended someone to him. I wish I went to him when I had the problem tooth so I could have saved it even for only a dozen more years.

From the moment Dr. Banakis came in the room, I was treated like a liar about my teeth being broken…read moreduring cancer surgery at Mayo Clinic, & that I had a referral to him from my Dentist, which I had with me & uploaded ahead of time, & that my Dentist was trying to preserve my teeth instead of capping them over the last 3 years, said "I don't know Dr. *****", then later states the first name of my dentist whom he claimed he never heard of. (I've been with my dentist for 51 years, & found out they golf together from my Dentist). I was at this appointment to rule out more cancer & TMJ problems, with ear pain & pressure radiating from ear, jaw & neck. My referring Dentist put on the referral for Banakis to do a CT of my TMJ, which Banakis refused to do, saying that even if he gave me one, he doesn't read them. Then tells the assistant to put on my record that I definitely do not have anything going on with my TMJ & there are no health issues. I had told him that there could be something in my Parotid Gland, & he said no. Then he bills me for $280 for this consultation that made me very uncomfortable & upset & just a waste of my time & money. Should be billed as a medical consult, but billing putting into my medical that they are dental, with the billing department saying that Oral Surgeons are all dental. They are not. And this was medical. I have loved my Dentist for 51 years. I like my current dentist. But this Oral Surgeon was horrible, & robbed me of $280 for nothing. I went to another Oral Surgeon who was absolutely great, & did not rob me for a consult, & even did a surgery on me that was needed with something that she & a dental hygienist saw right away, that Banakis did not even address. And.....it was medical & coded as such, something Banakis should have done. And, I do have issues with the TMJ & the Parotid Gland, & something else, that Banakis just blew off & put on my record that I had none of the above. Obviously I DO NOT recommend Schaumburg Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, or Dr. Banakis based on my experience. I never write reviews, but this one really was upsetting, as this is my health & money. Cancer is serious & I am a cancer patient & need to have medical & dental in my life that listen, understand, & treat their patients with the same respect as they wish to be treated. I got the impression that the only patients that they want to deal with are those that will be a huge income from major surgery right off the bat, & that anything else is wasting their time. If your jaw isn't moving at all, & you can't open your mouth to eat, you will be listened to because it is a big money ticket, & major surgery on you. Dr. Banakis told me that if I had TMJ problems, I wouldn't be able to open my mouth, have severe pain biting & eating & pretty much unable to do anything with my mouth. That is incorrect. This tells me that he only wants the severe cases with no where else to turn but to expensive surgery. Instead of also helping those that have a less severe case which doesn't require surgery yet. And putting on my file that I have nothing wrong, at all, and sending me on my way??? Without any proof of that??? Make your own choice on seeing this surgeon. But my personal experience was not acceptable to me or my current Oral Surgeon.
