Next to Miami Music Week, probably the coolest thing to do in this city. I'm not a big gun fan, but Lock & Load is a very classy place. There was a briefing beforehand with the instructor showing you how to stand, hold the firearms, and other tips. The wall of arms was amazing. You could choose between so many different weapons. You get to choose different packages the higher the package the more guns you get to choose and the higher the quality! Once you walk in every one is very friendly and filled with all the info you need! The place is decorated very nicely with play guns on the wall and also posters etc! It's also huge! When I walked in the young women at the front desk (I forgot her name ) but she was very nice and helpful! Next it was time for me to start shooting the guns , Max my instructor was very helpful!!!! We found this place when we were looking for a museum to visit. Dropped wives off at the Perez Museum of Art and met with Matt ex-military instructor who saw action in Afghanistan. After checking out the gun museum, we got to shoot a Tommy gun, AK-47 and the infamous Saw. Matt was fantastic instructor and we did pretty good hitting the target. Should be on everyone's Bucket List! Guess we can thank Al Capone for making these almost impossible to own. Drat! read more

I arranged for a group of colleagues (8 of us) from my companies office in Japan to shoot some automatic weapons to get the "USA Experience". First off, yes, it is expensive. We chose the Special Forces package and it was well worth it. For starters, they got us checked in no problem and got us lined up with an instructor (I cant remember his name but he was amazing). Most members of the group had never shot a gun before and he was very accommodating and made sure everyone was comfortable. His knowledge and training he offered put the nervous members of our group at ease. Where else can you shoot automatic weapons! All in all the staff here made it above and beyond what we expected. The last time I shot a gun was probably 10 years ago...it's not something I'm comfortable with or knowledgable about, but our instructor, Maxx was very good. He showed us how to hold and load the gun and also warned us if there was going to be a kick back. It was a lot of fun and I definitely feel much more comfortable holding a gun. Staff was not familiar with their merchandise- and for this reason I rated them a 3. I took an Uber to there after calling and speaking to someone over the phone. I was in search of a magazine for my Glock 17. When I arrived I was told they didn't sell magazines. I explained I had called over the phone and had been told they had them in stock. After being turned away....I decided to call over the phone (from outside the shooting range). The girl who answered the phone said they had them! I was so confused and went back inside. They had my magazines but the fact that I was turned away and almost left was not good. Had I left- I would have been down $40 of my Uber ride. Staff needs to be more familiarized with what they sell. read more

First time ever handling a weapon and couldn't ask for a better experience. The best part of this location is not only the wide range of weapons, its the fact its also a weapons museum. It's a plus because you can learn about the history of weapons and also get to handle some display weapons. Plus its great for the whole family. Once you tour the museum you can chose from different packages that cater to everyones needs. I got the Special Forces Eastern Bloc package and after some deep thinking I decided to add one round of the .50 caliber. My instructor, Mike, was probably what made this experience the best part. He was soo knowledgeable and nice and took the time to answer all my questions. He made me feel very comfortable firing all the weapons. The bottom line is, You MUST try this experience if you are in town. Miami is a beautiful city with tons of fun activities but this was definitely the best part of my trip. read more

My husband took me here for my birthday as a surprise. I was a little scared at 1st, seeing all those huge guns and knowing that they're actually gonna be shot and real bullets will be coming out of them freaked me out. The good thing is that you have an instructor with you at all times, which was wonderful cause I was scared of someone going crazy in there. Our instructor, Fabian, was amazing, he was extremely knowledgeable, he made us feel super comfortable, safe, and taught us whatever we needed to know so that we can have a good time and to be honest with you, it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. For someone who has never ever even seen a gun in real life, shooting machine guns was pretty fantastic! Totally recommend this place. Lock & Load is what you get when a ritzy South Beach lounge dates a Duck Dynasty hat wearing gun nut and in the process of too many $22 Mojitos, produces an offspring! Yes, this 'gun range' is unlike any other you will likely encounter. Located in Wynwood, you walk into a large, modern, open space with ultra-chic sofas, high-top tables, a chopper hanging from the ceiling (?!) and a bevy of high-powered rifles displayed like Modern Art on the walls. The space is more akin to a SoBe club, complete with 'Gun Valets" (hot girls in tight outfits and earpieces), who present you the gun menu, a-la bottle service at a club. Sit back and review the menu of the packages available; from Basic Training package to Special Forces package to 007, etc. ranging in price from $125 and up per person, or take a gander to the Wall of Death, where you can take full replicas of the weapons they offer and feel the heft and feel of each, take pictures, and feel empowered as only a fully automatic machine gun can apparently make you feel. The valets will walk you through the menu and help you choose the right combinations of deadly weapons, while you sip on complimentary bottled water and check your credit card balance online to make sure you can pay for this extravagance. After you pick a package, an instructor will meet with you to tell you the history of the weapons, help you become familiar with them and learn how to hold, aim and shoot them properly. This is a wonderful service, as not many people have access to fully automatic weapons and getting a guided tour helps with creating a comfort-level with the weapon. You get taken to the range area which is extremely clean and well-kept, are assigned a lane, and get to unload your weapon(s) of choice in either single, semi or fully automatic mode. Needless to say that 25 bullets don't last very long in these weapons, but the experience of shooting it a-la Rambo is something that you may want at least once in your life. When you've sunk enough holes through the paper target, you walk back and return your gear, get your target back to commemorate your time as a death dealer in training and walk on your merry way, confident that if the Zombie Apocalypse arrives and you can get to an armory, you are able to knock off those brain-hungry bastards, one head-shot at a time. So what do I think of this place? I am very familiar with guns and enjoy a day at the range like any other 'Murican, but I have never had access to the range of automatic weapons available here. It was a nice experience, if only to do it once, but I can't see myself returning here, as I don't feel the need to compensate for any physical 'shortcoming' with my hands wrapped around a monster weapon capable of annihilating a small village in a third world country. For my money, I prefer to visit a professional gun range with more realistic weapon choices to test my skills, and skip the velvet ropes and bottled water altogether. So, I will round UP my review to 4 stars and make a mental note to come here when the zombies finally become too hungry to just stay within South Beach, where brains are a rarity and venture in-land. read more

Went here while in town with a client after a business meeting. Pretty fun but this is designed 100% for stupid tourists. They have a wide array of NFA weapons that you can pick from in various "packages" or build your own "package". Its a newish very clean facility which is nice. The downside however is the price is beyond completely absurd for what it is. The owners are flat our greedy with their prices and the limited amount of rounds they give you for each gun. 25 rounds each for this prices is just greed. Every other range in the country i've ever been to you pay a flat fee say 25-50 to rent a nfa gun and you can use it for as long as you like - unsupervised. They just sell you the ammo for it at normal regular prices of .25 cents - 1.00 per round depending on the caliber. Here they treat you like you are a 5 year old inept child throughout the entire experience while charging hundreds of dollars for 25 rounds. They make it quite clear they cannot wait to get the gun out of your hands and stand up in your butt with their hand on you the entire time. It was rather busy when we were there and I observed this with all the babysitters not just ours. Would be alot more fun if the babysitters would piss off and they don't force you into some absurd over priced package. For those that are former military, law enforcement, or experience with firearms this is not the place for you. This is a stupid over priced tourist trap targeting idiots from socialist states like CA and NY that can't touch a real gun for the life of them outside of in an xbox game. read more

I love that it is located in Wynwood; I can grab dinner and drinks nearby after my insane adrenaline rush! Lock and Load is not your ordinary gun range. You are greeted with friendly staff and a gorgeous lobby upon entering. The tactical experts are all trained law enforcement personnel. They ALL made me feel comfortable as I was extremely nervous! The nerves quickly went away and were replaced with excitement though. I chose the Black Widow package which included the HK MP5, Glock 18, CLOT Commando, and the Smith and Wesson. I loved shooting the machine guns! It is such an addictive adrenaline rush... Best compared to experiences like sky diving! I am planning to go back and bring my dad along as a birthday gift! I saw an advertisement for Lock and Load and thought I would give it a try. It was an absolutely fabulous experience. The instruction and information given to us by Fabiano was terrific. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He provided a lot of information regarding each weapon, it's history and use. Aside from the fun we had, I learned a good deal About the weapons and obtained a new found respect for the men who use them in combat. My visit was delightful and all respects. Everything was explained to us in great detail before we decided on the package that would be of greatest interest to us. Once we selected the package, we were introduced to Fabiano who provided us with safety instructions, history, information regarding the manufacturers and direction regarding how to use the weapons. We had a blast (no pun intended) at Lock and Load Miami. We did the Scarface Package with 25 rounds each with the IMI Uzi, Colt M4 Commando, Thompson Gun (Tommy Gun) and the Glock 18 Submachine Gun. And we added the AK 47 as well. They were very nice and patient with us as we were walking around and checking out the gun replicas to see what we really wanted to shoot. All in all, it was money and time well spent. Definitely gave us a different understanding, knowledge and respect for guns. Now, shooting handguns will never be enough. Brought my son here for his 17th birthday and he absolutely loved it! It totally made this birthday something special for him. It's great for enthusiasts to shoot from a large variety of automatic weapons. We did the express package. Pricing is on the expensive side but it's more about getting to try some cool assault rifles would normally get to shoot. It's not your typical gun range. You can't share packages and you can't just go and shoot one gun. But it's a really cool experience. read more

I never would have heard of this place had it not been for my friends from out of town that saw it on TripAdvisor. I'm not a huge gun person - quite the opposite, they kinda scare me and I think they should be illegal. I guess I'm what you would call a gun non-thusiast. However, this was a totally worthwhile experience. I was kinda reluctant to try it cause it's expensive, but I also couldn't just hang around while my friends did it, so I went ahead and got the express package. After we selected our guns and paid, we waited for a little over an hour to get inside. This is the only reason I couldn't give it the full 5 stars. They didn't give us any kind of heads up about the wait. We just watched group after group go inside, even some that got there after us. When we were finally brought it, it was a totally 5 star experience. Your entire group goes in with a trainer and you go through a short debriefing. They teach you how to stand properly and give you a feeling for what you'll experience. They also outfit you with eyewear and these really cool headphones that actually amplify sounds like talking and block the sound of machine guns. We were accompanied by a funny guy named Brian. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, entertaining, and he high fived us when we shot really fast. What more can you ask for? When you go inside, everyone shoots one by one with the trainer on hand to attend to each person. If you're hesitant about the price (as I was) and comparing it to a normal shooting range, this is where the value lies. Whereas at a normal range, you pay a fee and shoot as much as you like, here you get to shoot things most of us would never actually see in person and you have a kind of gun concierge with you at all times explaining how to use it properly, and holding you in case the recoil is too intense. Brian explained everything about the weapons, their use, etc. There were 4 of us so we had a nice variety of guns to see in action. I want to point out that they definitely don't let you share guns, as someone else mentioned here earlier. So whatever you pick, you shoot. Otherwise, you can only watch. Two of the ones I shot had a digital (?) scope thing, which is awesome cause it helps with accuracy and you don't have to put your eye against a physical scope. When you're done, they wrap up your target and give you a coin commemorating the experience. He gave us a brief backstory about how a lot of them were actually in the military and those are given to you when you serve and he showed us the one he got in Afghanistan. It's a really cool memento from the whole thing, along with empty shell casings (wait til they cool before you pick them up!). A totally random experience that I highly recommend, whether you're a local or an out of towner. Whether you're a gun-nut, or a total novice. Everyone should get the opportunity to feel like Rambo at least once in their life! read more

I visited this range in July with two gentlemen friends of mine. The instructor was great and the actual shooting was fine. The only thing that rubbed me wrong about this place is that my friends and I were asked to pay before hand. Now I have visited several shooting ranges all of the country and never was never asked to pay before the actual lesson. We also watched other individuals who came in after us go right on in and pay afterward. I would love to get managements feedback on this, I recall the lady that rang us up was a younger blond woman. I have some theories as to why we were treated as such but I would love to hear from management about their policies and why they seem to vary based in certain individuals before I put those theories down. read more
