Forgotten the keys on the way out for an early morning run and had immediately realized I locked myself out. Realizing that I was SoL at the time of notice, I said YOLO and went onward with a routine run (figured I'd be out waiting all night anyways and bolted). Long story short, the run is complete and my mind is back to the cold pressing issue of finding solutions to getting back inside; many attempts where made with no avail in a lengthy battle of 2-3 hours in the darken cold. And more misfortune kept running my direction, cause within the lengthy time of trying to pry in through windows, I resorted to seek aid from my landlord, & for as long as I kept at it, my trustee landlord was there to accompany me. Me thinking she had the contact number to one of my siblings who owns a spare key, could've easily stop by in the wee hours to remedy my ailment. And lo and behold, misfortune has struck again, cause apparently the day I forgotten my keys --which is extremely rare-- my sis had planned a trip to Las Vegas.And here's the kicker, prior to myself realizing my forgotten keys at earlier times, I could've instead canceled the run and eventually work myself to reaching her in the nick of time to reach out and help me before she would've departed on her trip. While being on a role of an unlucky streak of bad juju, my mentally ill mother was the only one present inside the house. And at times she is extremely sensitive to picking up fairly to carrying on simple tasks; like opening a door. Exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes of myself making desperate attempts of banging her window in hopes she'd resolve my issue first than the other alternatives I had available, could've saved me an enormous amount of energy and time that I would've just been back into my humble abode with the sweet comforts of a shower and hot meal in a small celebration of a most joyous victory from doging misfortune vibes. To vividly paint a picture of how desperate I was at making attempts of alerting dear mother, I knocked and banged with both hands until my knuckles became tenderly raw and turned a purplish-blue discoloration. At this moment of recognition, the hopeful spirit I began with fleeted rapid, the abundance of options available steeped too in tandem, and rattling in my brain was a juxtaposition of two ultimatums; break the window into my room or call a locksmith. I even wondered how much it would've cost me to smash my window in comparison to calling a locksmith, because the gratification would've been worth it to shatter my window and pay the same amount it would've cost to hire a pro. Funny how my luck was already rotten, that as the saying goes, "even though things are bad now, it can always be worst," that that was exactly the experience I was completely having. The landlord had to leave soon and she was my only option of any access to a proper phone line that I reached to my decision to call a locksmith. During the last efforts of resorts, I Iooked up multiple 24-hour locksmiths around my region who would've bothered to show at such early hours and to each and everyone that I yelp and called (multiple times) never bothered to pick up. It then dawn on me that it was all B.S. advertisement for the sake of sounding and looking reliable, that drawing into a near conclusion of a dwindling list of locksmiths who would've cared to show, lo and behold once more that Daniel picked up and answered. During the time of our negotiation upon specifics, we came up with an agreed fee of a $65 service appearance, to unlock @ $138, and that the replacement lock to additionally bring in another $50, that it all summed up to $250. Daniel arrived, we chit-chat for a moment, and he began working. He was really informal the entire time; bestowing his short tales of stories and educational detailed specifics upon pick locking. All and all it was fluidly til the point he had thumped the lock open, without any signs of damage that I was no longer in need of a replacement. Due to that he reduced the current price down to $200. I was elated with content in his performance, knowledge, and character, that he hung around a tad bit longer to show me his gadgets and shared more info. on his trade. Shortly after we parted ways. It's quite the interesting subject to discuss if you every fancy yourself to making cracks at locks. TL;DR: A SHIT TON OF BAD LUCK(caps intended). We live by the beach and one of the locks with the cylinders that Daniel fixed was acting up, aka it was hard to turn the key. Daniel came right away and luckily he only need to spray some dw 40.
