    a flight of beers
    Stephanie S.

3.5-4* Friendly service, good (albeit pricey) food, with so-so beers. Lock St Brewing was the 1st stop on a cycling tour that I did. I ordered a flight w/ an oddbird fried chicken burger ($16, no fries/sides). For my flight, I ordered a mix of lagers/IPAs and most of them had a sour-taste. I tried the NEIPA and even that tasted sour and I hate sour beers, so the brews here did not quite hit the spot for me! Fried Chicken Burger was tasted, but at $16, at least include a side/fries. I don't think that would kill them. Food menu just consisted of a few apps, burgers/fried chicken burgers, so it wasn't super extensive. So if you don't feel like anything on the menu, just go for the beers. They do have an outdoor biergarten at the back of the brewery, but it's probably closing soon for the season.

Good beers, nice beer garden. They have an upstairs, but today it was rented out. Last time we sat up there and looked out over the street. Tried the bratwurst chips. Interesting! It has much more than it's street presentation. Hops growing in their beer garden. Don't tell them I ate one!

3.5 Star Every Neighbourhood should have a brewery like Lock Street Brewing! Located in the historical main street area, near the waterfront. A perfect place to visit for a drink and chill with friends. Beer flights available and you can pick from any 4 from their tap lists. We ended up sampling: Jealour Mistress Oktoberfest Port Side Pilsner Industrial Pale Ale Beers are true to style and all brewed in house. And they also serves full menu from Kaiserhaus next door. The warm pretzel we ordered was quite good! Great to go with some German style beer! Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Worth dropping by when visiting Port Dalhousie! Especially when the weather is warm as their have a beer garden during the summer months!

    Bar is clean and welcoming

Fish and tots was really good. Service (Jacob I believe) was super friendly and helpful. Beer selection is traditional but the Black Sail was fantastic if you enjoy dark beers.

I decided maybe Virgil was close enough to try it, and oh my goodness - I understood at once why poutine is so popular. If you also hail from a poutine-less area of the world, fear not - done well, it's a great dish. The beer was also excellent. I can see why The Black Lager is Canada's most award-winning Schwarzbier. There are some really good schwarzebiers in my city, and Silversmith's is right up there with them. I also have a Nut Brown Ale, and a small size of the Motueka, both of which I would get again. They know what they are doing with their food and drink. And the atmosphere is really good as well. The old-church-turned-brewery is beautiful. I'll let the pictures in other reviews do it justice. The service was good. It was relatively busy the night I was there, but the service was still quick enough and even a bit conversational - I recall one of the bartenders worked at Silversmith in the warmer months, and travels southeast Asia in the colder months, which is pretty cool. I would likely be a regular if I lived in the area.

Happened on this place by accident on a Sunday drive. It is a stunning place. Very pretty,…read moretastefully decorated. Looks like a family fun Brewery. They had a board game wall, 2 air Hockey tables. An area with local items for sale. Looks like they hold farmers markets, and events in the weekend. The place was very elegantly decorated, like it was professionally done. But for a 5 Generation family, I would have liked to have seen their Ancestors, history, maybe some family heirlooms as decorations, farm equipment, etc... They had an upstairs, not sure what that was about tho. When we walked in, we saw a sign that said seat yourself, so we did. Then we noticed we could order by Q card, so we did. No hostess. The menu was really small, small plates, appetizers, cookies and milk was the dessert. It was an odd menu. There were a fair amount of kids. Which was nice. It really is set up to be 100% Family First.. It was very large, lots of space for kids to play inside and outside, safely, while adults enjoy their time. Lots of space between tables. So still good for intimate settings too. Really well thought out space planning. I ordered Burnt ends with Mac N Cheese, in a Habanero jelly. It was the only spicy item on the menu. My BF ordered Chicken Fingers, because they didn't have a burger, hot dog, steak, i wondered if upstairs was where they served full meals instead of small plates. Worth checking on before you go. I didn't notice the upstairs until we had already ordered. The menu was lacking. I think it would have been nice if they had a hostess to greet newcomers, and explain the run down, and show them how it works. If there was an area for full dining we would have liked to have known. We also would have been able to see a menu before seating. After ordering, I left my BF seated and went to see what types of local items they had for sale. I ended up buying a jar of homemade Maple cream, from the owners parents. They were a really sweet couple. They were the ones who had told us they had been there for 5 Generations. Being a history buff, I got excited and said I bet you have some great stories. I seemed to have embarrassed him, a bit, because he smiled and changed the subject. ‍ A server came out, and informed me, they were out of burnt ends, with the Habanero Jelly. They asked if they could put pulled pork, with Bbq sauce on top of the MAC N Cheese. I agreed, but was actually super disappointed. It was the only item on the menu that had some kick to it. I just didn't see a reason to look at the menu again, since it was so small. I wish we had just left, because my BF didn't like the menu. I was not getting what I wanted. Obviously, this was not a place for us. The chicken fingers were good, they were big, coated well, tasted like they may have added a touch of cornmeal. But they were still just chicken fingers. They do offer a variety of different sauces on the side. The Mac N cheese was much better than expected. The cheese was white and creamy. The pulled pork was basic sauce, it was cooked perfectly, and had some big pieces in there, and wasn't just stringy. Their ordering system is basically contactless ordering. The new way of the world. Ordering from your phone. Which is something I actually like. But a hostess is still needed. Whoever set this system up, did a terrible job uploading the menu. I wanted a drink with Vodka. The only option was"Vodka drink" when I pushed it, it said I needed to go to the bar. They had a couple of cocktails premade, but all with whiskey and gin. When I asked the female Bartender if they can make a Martini. She looked up at some guy, and waited for him to respond. But I quickly jumped in. Before he could say anything. I just asked if she could make one of their signature cocktails they have on the menu. But swap out, the gin for Vodka. I just wanted to keep this moving forward. They said no problem, and were very nice about it. Then I asked them how to order it at the table. They told me to order the gin drink I want, and they will remember to swap it out for me. I was impressed they got that right. For such a vast space, with high ceilings, the acoustics were amazing. It wasn't loud at all. Even the kids seemed to play quietly. When I finally sat down. I saw my BF looked miserable. My own nervous system had been feeling off too, and was a bit unsure. But everyone was super friendly. It just felt like we had an odd amount of super polite attention, that others were not getting. When I took a hard look around, I realized everyone there were dressed similarly, were polite, composed, quiet, having fun, and smiling. They looked like they all came straight from the same church. That's when it hit me, this is a community place with deep roots. They probably don't get many different types of people here. I live in a rural area too, but we are a diverse group of color, culture, and art. It took me a bit off guard.

The brewery itself produces many beers and the kitchen has a great selection of food items as well as daily specials. The space is kid and family friendly where it is fully accessible (stroller friendly!). There are board games you can play and a small kids corner if your children want to play with a huge connect four as well. In terms of parking, there are lots of spots throughout the parking lot. In the summer there is also a small patio to enjoy your beers and food. Menu wise, the variety of dishes include classics like a burger and poutine as well as pasta and a vegetarian banh mi. There is also a small kids menu as well. Drinks menu wise, there is a large list of beers to choose from as well as a small list of wines, ciders, and non-alcoholic options. I had a party of 5 (4 adults and 1 baby) dine at Counterpart Brewery recently. Staff were accommodating where there was a high seat available for the baby. The space is spacious although in some areas it may be harder to fit a stroller through, but either way the space is very kid and family friendly (we saw many kids and families during our time there!). Service was great and the staff were friendly. The menu is accessed through a QR code via your phone which is at the table. My party ordered the following: - Fried chicken sandwich (b&b pickles, pickled jalapenos, cabbage slaw, and sriracha mayo) - $17 - Porchetta sandwich (slow roasted Italian pork, salsa verde, crispy crackling, arugula) - $17 - House cut fries (old bay, malt vinegar aioli) - $10 - Peach Chardonnay cider from Niagara Cider Company - $10 - Grilled jerk chicken plate (grilled pineapple, house cut fries, red cabbage slaw, cilantro) - $27 I tried the fried chicken sandwich and the porchetta sandwich. Both sandwiches were delicious! In terms of the fried chicken sandwich, the chicken (which was dark meat) was tender and juicy. The pickles and slaw complimented the chicken well where the sandwich didn't feel heavy. The overall sandwich wasn't spicy even though there were jalapenos and sriracha mayo. The porchetta sandwich was also great as well which was served on a ciabatta style bun. The pork was tasty and the salsa verde added so much flavour to the sandwich. The crispy crackling definitely added some textural contrast to each bite. Overall, a great place with delicious eats and friendly service! If you enjoy beer they have a great selection to choose from. The place is also very family friendly with lots of parking outside. A must try if you are in the Niagara Falls area!

The bartender was the only person on the floor and she was very friendly. Her service was great and we enjoyed the pop punk collection she had playing the whole time we were dining in. We ordered some drinks and for food we shared a chicken club on sourdough and a Reuben. The food did take quite a long time to come out even though we were the only ones who ordered food at the time. The chicken itself was ok, a bit bland but had some good toppings and was well toasted. We had fries with this sandwich and it was very well fried and it came in a huge portion. The Reuben was ok, instead of the tangier russian dressing I'm used to this one was more straight mayo based so the flavors weren't what I was expecting. The marbled rye could have been buttered a little more when toasted as well. The amount of meat that it came with though was great and quite hefty. Both sandwiches also came with coleslaw and a pickle spear. The slaw was vinegar based and cut through the heaviness of the meat. I wish the pickle was more crispy though. All in all, a relaxed spot for lunch with good drink but ok food.

I was surprised to see I haven't written a review but I always have a good experience here! For my mom's birthday, she wanted to grab a beer flight and dinner at Live Edge Brewing. We arrived on a Saturday around 4:45pm and took a parking spot close to the entrance. They have a good-size parking lot so no concerns about finding a space. We walked in and saw the "wait to be seated" sign and soon afterward, a young woman came over and asked how many in our party and where we'd like to sit. The three of us decided to sit on their back patio. We picked a table and our waitress soon followed with drink/food menus. All of the tables outside had umbrellas to help shield from the sun, which on this Saturday was out but the temperature was perfect and there was a slight breeze to cool it down a little. The one oddity we had was that our drink menus didn't match as my menu had more taps listed compared to the others I was sitting with, so I ended up getting a drink in my flight they never saw. I slight hiccup but honestly, you can't be too upset with a drink in your hand! Our waitress was young and incredibly personable, friendly, accommodating, answering all our questions about the food and customizing our orders how we wanted them. We might have let it slip that it was my mom's birthday - Our waitress brought her a birthday cake shot to celebrate, which she loved! Our waitress let us take our time sampling our beer flights before placing our food orders. The wait time for our food was very reasonable, maybe 10-15 minutes, I can't remember as we were having too good a time chatting and sipping. For dinner, I ordered their Nashville Hot Chicken Sammy, which is a hand-breaded toaster-oven-baked chicken breast topped with provolone cheese, pickles, and their Nashville hot sauce between a brioche bun and served with a side of tater tots (a small upcharge from their default chips). The sandwich was delicious! Now, for you spice lovers, I didn't find this sandwich very spicy, it was more about the flavor, the tang of the sauce. I didn't mind it not being that spicy, the flavor was excellent! The pickles were thick and had a nice crisp to them and the provolone cheese paired so well with it all. The tater tots were fried perfectly with a crispier exterior but hot, pillowy-soft interior - For the small upcharge, ~$3.00, they were worth it. The portion sizes were perfect as I was perfectly full, I wasn't uncomfortable. The price of my meal was reasonable as well, especially seeing how everything's costing more in 2026. Live Edge Brewing is not only a family favorite but for me, it's a hidden gem. The friendly, laid back, yet still attentive service and country atmosphere have us continuing to come back each New Year's Eve, and now, this could become a new birthday tradition!
