Enjoyable Belgium style brewery with good appetizers. Came into the Exchange yesterday afternoon and opted to sit outside on the elevated patio. Attentive service both from the bartender downstairs entering the establishment as well as the workers/ servers upstairs. The charcuterie board was excellent, a variety of crackers, cheeses and salami's peppered and plain. Ordered a corn style lager, very bitter but legit. For Round two ordered the Farmhouse ale, loaded with deep orange hops and a peppery bite in the aftertaste. There is a bar and I believe one table on the first floor. We were told there is additional seating up at, which is where most people went as they came in. We sat at the bar. My houseguests (including my daughter's dog, Sage, who I was dog sitting) stopped here after a walk around NOTL. We shared an app and sampled some beer before heading for dinner at a family member's place nearby. This was the perfect spot for us. The upstairs back patio was shady and dog friendly. The service was quick and efficient. And the setting was perfect - like being in a treehouse. The Nachos had plenty of cheese and garnishes with sides of sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. Lots of decent beer selections here! Not really a fan of the sours though toh, and same with the Je Ne Sais Quois. Our favourites were the Sensory Overload, New England IPA and Pumpkin Ale. We ordered the Baked Brie to start and it was so delicious. Only complaint about that is we woulda liked more sourdough bread rather than those gluten free chips. Our mains were pretty underwhelming. The Margherita pizza tasted like a frozen pizza, and the crust/dough was so tough and crunchy. The meatball sandwich was not good. Over toasted, super crunchy, dry and just not enough sauce or meat. Stopped in to share a beer flight with friends on a Saturday afternoon. The first floor is pretty small and the bar was full. We were able to take a few chairs by the door/window, but later found out how nice and spacious the second floor is. I would definitely recommend checking it out up there. The beer was ok! We liked a few more than others. I'm a sour fan and I liked whichever they chose for me (we said dealers choice) and my friends really enjoyed the rosemary beer. Cozy spot with great people and incredible service. The little shop inside is also very nice. Their flights are very well made for tastings and the size are very reasonable not from a quantity and a price standpoint. It allows you to share sampler with friends. The only small downside ( I réalise it's only personal ) but they seem to carry more lighter, fruity beer compared to stronger beer like IPA or scotch ale, which are my favorite. This is a great brewery at Niagara on the Lake and as a welcome break from all the wine tasting. We ordered a flight which I highly recommend as you get the opportunity to try 6 of their beers. All of their beers were very unique and I liked each one I tried. They had some especially interesting sour beers. This place reminds me of a winery, but it's a brewery. Even though bottles that the beer are sold in look more like wine bottles than they do growlers. It's a sleek set-up with a small bar downstairs. There is an upstairs, which we didn't go into... I imagine maybe more seating? I tasted the pumpkin ale, which was good and spicy. I loved the beer tasting set-up, it looked like a mini lazy susan. I really did not like the Gose, but my boyfriend did, so that might just be related to me not liking Coriander (one of the ingredients the beer is grown with). The server was telling us the brewer they work with likes to experiment to create new brews. It's also fairly cheap, $10 for the flight. The workers are super nice and the interior and environment makes it a nice place to sip. The beers here are so unique to other beer flights that I've tried and I can't wait to go back and try some new brews the next time they have! Side note: they don't have many food options. I stopped by here twice this past week, once on Thursday night with my wife for drinks and then again on Friday afternoon as part of a food tour. The inside of the Exchange brewery is rather sleek with lots of black and white colors. It consists of two stories with your usual bar on the first floor and then a bar with some extra seating on the second floor. Both floors have a view of the fermenter and we learned on the food tour that they had more of their beer making equipment in the basement. On the Thursday evening I decided to go with a sampler and chose the Witbier, Framboise, Harvest Ale, Session IPA, regular IPA and last but not least the Foreign Export Stout. As a lover of IPA's I think that the session IPA was my favorite here although I was most impressed with the Stout. Due to its color I expected it be heavy and have a quite the strong taste. However it had incredible finesse and felt and tasted much lighter, albeit still full bodied, than I expected. On the second day during the food tour I was able to try three of the same beers again which I can't say that I was sad about. All of the beers that I tasted here were actually quite good and nice representations of their beer types. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. The Exchange has a nice atmosphere in their brewery and all of their beers were good as well. read more

When you enter on your right you have their seasonal craft beer bottles, 3 fridges, all of them full. On second floor they have a patio looking to the park. No kitchen here, so if you are the type of person looking for fries with your beers, you shouldnt be here. Instead they have a solid cheese plate, perfectly paired with their beers. A cheese plate tasting tray of 3 comes with Hefeweizen, their IPA and a stout. As a beer fan, I liked their beers. The IPA was quite balanced between hoppy, Fruity and some caramel notes. The stout had full coffee bitterness very dominant with medium body. I cannot comment on the service 3 of us stayed here for not more than 30 minutes. If you've never been to Niagara on the lake I highly recommend that you take a trip there especially if you are going to the Falls. Get yourself out of that touristy trap of nonsense and bring yourself and family to a beautiful local town. There's so many old fashion eclectic stores, horse and carriages and buildings to visit they bring back the olden days. This brewery is in a perfect location along the main street of stores. It has a modern touch to it with it's black and white and gray Decor. the staff Paul, Michael I believe and don't forget Danny the Sunday sushi guy we're all super friendly. Every beer was very very good. I love the way they take a risk and brew beer with things like kombucha I highly recommend you try the spot. They have an upstairs as well and I believe a small outside upstairs. The bar downstairs is fun and entertaining as everyone joins in on the conversation. They have plenty of bottles and cans to take home. They also have lots and lots of merchandise to purchase. This is the best brewpub of the 500+ that I've visited. Specializing in sour ales, ales with Brettanomyces, & Belgian styles, they brew all of them with subtlety & balance. During our visit, they were pouring 8 different styles... a Hefeweizen, a Gose, a Session IPA (possibly my favourite Session IPA), an Amber Ale with an outstanding toffee flavour, Plum Berliner Weisse, Grapefruit Pale Ale, a peach & cinnamon ale called Peach Pi, & the best Herb & Spice beer I've ever tasted: a Thai Basil Saison. The only downside was that their bottled beers were quite pricey, but being aged for months in wood, it's understandable. In addition to the very modern front bar & lots of tables in back & upstairs, there's also an outdoor seating area on the second floor. I want to urge all beer lovers to make the effort to visit this brewpub. My encouragement has a selfish component, I will admit: I want The Exchange Brewery to be so successful that they expand & start exporting to the US. Been here a few times the last few years and always love their upstairs seating. Have yet to see their outdoor patio in action but will be back in May. They have a great selection and range of beers. Their $10 flights are a good way to sample. We have tried most on their tasting memu and havent had one we didnt like. We are always sucker for their cheese boards and popcorn options. We had a selection curated by the extremely upbeat staff. I'm not a big fan of the light or citrus stuff but there is definitely a beer here for just about every taste. Thought that was cool as I have never thought to pair beer with anything besides pizza and wings lol. Very chill environment. Two level building with indoor and outdoor roof patio seating. Staff was on point considering it was a Sunday in June and extremely busy on Queen St. (main drag) with tourists. We did know it would be crazy busy (as locals) so that impressed me even more so by the staff's attention! Great spot in downtown niagara on the lake offering a broad selection of their local beers... I ordered the 3 beer and cheese pairing flight twice at 12 dollars each time - good value for 3 sampler portions of beer with cheese. Im not sure that the cheese really paired with the beers they were placed with however the cheese on its own was great and the beer was excellent. For me the noteable beer was the double ipa. Nothing to complain on service, however the seating is a bit cramped. There seemed to be an upper level bit i dodnt explore.
