My husband says they have the best craft beer in the Niagara on the Lake region. On our wine tour we needed to stop and check out a few breweries as well to round out our trip. Last time we came through this spot was closed, he was thrilled we could try their beverages this time. He tried the short hills hazy and I had their botanical citrus hard seltzer. Both were tasty, delicious and refreshing. We enjoyed them outside on their dog friendly patio. We were happy that they had a to go beverage trailer in their parking lot. This was our first stop while on vacation in the area for the week. It was a beautiful day (and holiday weekend) so there was a little wait for seating outside. I asked if we could sit inside and the hostess took us inside to the second floor to sit on the deck up there. It was perfect because we were still outside! We ordered an appetizer, zuccanoush, which was great! It was served with some grape tomatoes and pita. I had a flight of the non-dry ciders and my boyfriend tried two of their beers, which he really liked. Our server, Hannah, was friendly and professional. The property is very nice. Been here a few times and it never disappoints. Big fan of the Short Hills Hazy IPA, and my favourite is the seasonal Bakers Bees. The Niagara Cider Co. drinks are also fantastic, especially the Rose Gold and Blackberry. The food is great--I especially love the appetizers, like the Whipped Feta and Mexican Street Corn Dip. The mains are solid too, though I'm personally not a fan of the side salads. The patio is especially nice in the summer, making it a perfect spot to enjoy your food and drinks outside. Overall, it's a great spot and definitely worth a visit. I also often grab the Short Hills and Balls Falls Session IPA at LCBOs whenever I see them. read more

This brewery is always improving! I stopped here on a break from a bike ride and really enjoyed their ciders this time round. Had the peach and tropic ones and both were fantastic. Both a good (but not excessive) sweetness to them and were perfect for a sunny fall(ish) day. I loved their patio which seems to continue to expand every time I visit. I huddled up to one of the extremely comfortable Muskoka chairs and relaxed. Last but certainly not least was the service. My server was absolutely amazing. Substantial portion to split three-way and pork was juicy and not overly saucy. We ordered the Mac & Cheese ($14) with side Greek salad ($6) which was good. Portion of the Mac & Cheese was on the smaller side but still very good. We ordered a flight of 4 drinks ($15) to sample their ciders, IPA, etc. The peach Chardonnay infused apple cider was sweet and refreshing. The Session IPA had hints of grapefruit flavour. I've been to Bench Brewing last year, but I must say I was much more impressed this time around. Seating is first come, first serve, so they don't take reservations. They get really busy!! Be prepared to wait during peak times. We came around 1:30pm and we waited around 15minutes for shaded seating. Unshaded seating was a little less waiting time. They have a pretty decent amount of seating as they have two patio areas. Last year, the larger patio area was picnic benches, with only some having umbrellas. This year, the larger patio was covered mostly by a big tent, which was really nice in this hot weather. Ordering was easy. They have a touch-less menu, using a QR code. I find their menu selection to be on the smaller side, but everything I've ever had was pretty good. The wait was a little long for our food to come, maybe around 20 mins. This time we ordered a flight of four beers. Our favourites were the Short Hills and Clean Slate. Both are lighter beers. Clean Slate is a but on the fruity side. We also ordered the Sicilian flatbread and Chicken shararma bowl. The flatbread was delicious, especially with the pesto sauce. I thought it would be pretty plain based on how it looked, but everything went well together. The chicken shawarma bowl was pretty tasty too. I just thought the chicken was a little in the dry side, but there was enough sauce to make up for it. Overall, I really enjoyed everything about Bench Brewing and love how my second experienced was even better than first (which was pretty good to begin with). Definitely will be back. read more

I am a big fan of this place. I went to go peach picking down the street and we decided to check this place out. It was great. There's lots of patio space outside but also a good space inside with barriers at the tables. It's a clean, modern/ industrial vibe space but all beautifully put together. Beers You can have a pint or do a sampler flight which can include up to 4 4oz. Beers of your choice from their list. They've got good selection for a varietal palette. I think the beers change frequently and some are sold at LCBO. They had a good selection of sours when we went. All very delicious but my favourite was one in particular that mixed the taste of wine and beer together. I also appreciate that they worked collaboratively with a local winery in the area as well. When they offer you your flight they provide cards aside each glass to help you remember what you're drinking. There's also a little description of the beverage on the cards ...and let me tell you, I was surprised how accurate they were. The beer with raspberry and red currant, actually had a strong presence of those flavours. Food Ok so a brewery with food for the most part you'd expect pub style food right? Wrong. This place had great food. We tried a couple of things as a table. We ordered the nachos, and the chicken wings to share. And for all our dishes we chose the Mac and cheese, the shawarma bowl and the beef sandwich. Everything tasted great. We had so much food we kind of shared it all. And you know when you know you shouldn't keep eating but it's just good food so you can't help it....this was the place to do it. If I had to recommend anything, the nachos and wings were awesome. First off, Bench is uniquely located amongst the heart of Niagara Wine country, cozied up against some of the best wines in the area they exceed your excpetations and are dropping some damn delicious brews and equally tasty locally sourced foods. From the refreshing sours that are fermented with the local fruits of the region to the IPAs inspired from the hills, fruits, and land of the regions, all the brews will certianly please you! Our home fridge is ALWAYS stocked up with some IPA or a boujee bottle of the Cherry grove sour. And let me tell you, this is some GREAT IPA! For all my beer drinking friends, these beers will make you pretty hoppy. For those that feel beer ain't their thing, check out a sour for a refreshing drink or a hometown lager or ale. Certainly a drink for everyone here! Now lets talk about these eats here, all locally sourced and fresh, fabulous salads, fun and tasty apps, and awesome sandwhichs that will rock your socks. Do note that the menu can be a tad more expensive than you may pay at other places but I think the quality and service is well worth it. Somewhere off the beaten path is a Brewery that is lively, fun, and AWESOME! Smack in the middle of Beamsville and giving Wine Snobs a Smack right in the snooty nose is what would be my favourite brewery - if it was hours closer to my home. I tear up as I open my usual beers, and I know that I would rather be sitting on a bench at BENCH! :( This place is enormous and though they make me thumb my nose at "winesnobbery", they actually benefit from collaborating with wine makers. Many of their brews share notes by imbuing wine flavours into it. With a dozen beers on tap, you can enjoy a pint or 6... or do a flight. What was in my flight...Stone Road White Ale, Appellation, and Strawberry Grove. You can look at the pix for the descriptions. Suffice it to say out of the possible flight combinations, I really enjoyed my selections. I'm not into bitter beers but I do like sours and Strawberry Grove was really good. If you are hungry, this place does a great job with food. You can get artsy food or just down right bar grub. We were there during their BBQ night and got some pork shoulder - no pix...sorry, was so hungry that it was gone before the camera made an appearance! LOL! I would probably would like to make a eventful day out of this place. Do a tour, do more flights, watch their machines that do draft beer cans, and really get some more food. Impressive?! Go Big or Go Home?! The actual facilities just wowed me! This is not a typical brewery I had been to. Everything is top notch and they really knows how to make an impression the moment when we drove into the Parking Lot. The tasting room/restaurant is spacious. Great for groups with those big communal tables. And if you want to be more cozy, there are sofas and smaller tables. Aside from beer, the food menu is quite extensive. We ordered their meatballs and that was surprisingly good. And of course, some beers to go with the food which highly recommended too. Their flight option is nicely set up with detail information card for each beer: type, taste profile and characteristic. And of course, they have a beer shop on premise. Ask a local...and you shall receive! This place was recommended to us for lunch. And boy are we glad we listened! This is located in Lincoln, so after a day of wineries...definitely fuel up here. The place is hopping with locals and tourists, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their brews (got a beer flight), and the food is good. We ordered the Moroccan spiced wings (pretty good - but wish they were fried and not baked) and the melon kale salad - surprisingly this was good - the melon added the nice hit of sweetness to the bitter kale. Our work group stopped here on the way to Niagara Falls. It is a bit of the road but very worth while. They had numerous brews made in house and we each tried something different. The restaurant was fresh and new looking with glass walls and the look of an old school house. Walking to the parking lot you can see inside the actually brewery's and see the huge tanks that are used for making the beer. They also had a small shop near the parking lot to buy take home brew. Our meal was exceptional, we had Duck Curry, Brat sausages, port roast and chicken tacos. Each very quite different but everyone enjoyed their choices. read more

So glad we finally tried Bench Brewing. We sat at the bar and had really great service. The bartender was quite nice and very friendly. While the beers weren't our favorite overall we definitely found some good ones. And the food... goodness the food was out of this world delicious. COVID-19 measures: - When you arrive the hostess asks you some covid questions about how you feel, travel, exposure to infected person etc. - They give you hand sanitizer right away. - Menu is only available with QR code to view on your smart phone. - Lots of outdoor seating with table spread far apart. - Must wear a mask if you go inside to use the washroom. - All servers wear masks whether they are indoors or outdoors. Excellent location at the corner of two streets. Beautiful large property. Can walk around and see the hops farm. We chose to sit outdoors as it was a beautiful day and we felt more comfortable this way. Really liked that the menu was QR code, this is cleaner and safer and better for the environment. Food and beer was excellent. We got the chicken wings and the nachos. These are by far the best nachos I have ever had in my life, and I have eaten a lot of nachos. No salsa or guacamole for these ones, no need to dip as it's perfect as is. The chips are spiced and topped with salsa verde, cotijo cheese, tomatoes, braised beef. Seriously get this! There were many choices of beer. We got the flight of 4 beers and tried the sour beers. Very delicious and refreshing. Wandered upon this gem while checking out the wineries nearby. Big modern , beautifully built large brewery/resto with patio seating as well that cannot be missed if you are driving by. It seemed quiet from the outside but in reality it was busy at the restaurant/bar upstairs! Communal seating, service was good, food was ok but obviously you are here for the beer! I came here after hearing it as a suggestion by a local who lives in Pelham. I wanted something different than just wines and somewhere that had tasty food. Am I glad that they suggested Bench Brewery! Seemingly industrial on the outside with asymmetrical brick buildings that look like they've been adjoined together as an after-thought, on the interior Bench Brewery's brings it all together with tall wooden beams, soaring ceilings and bright light streaming in from windows that line every wall. Their clean lines of black and white accent walls with stainless steel decor/ equipment complements the ash brown wooden table tops and bar counter. There are long, family-style dining tables where you can sit with other people or separate areas for smaller groups in quiet corners. I like how they have a little bit of everything for everyone. They've even got a private party room. Service was great! All the servers had branded T-shirt's so you can tell who worked there. I really appreciate this because I notice so many restaurants don't have uniforms or T-shirt's for their staff and it just looks super unprofessional/ you don't know who works there and who is a guest. Nick (a Bench Brewery OG) was super attentive and brought a very casual but professional vibe to the table. I love being at a place where the staff knows their stuff AND knows how to hold a real, genuine conversation too! We got to talking about vinyl and music, which can always be appreciated with a nice, cold beer in hand. The other servers were also super friendly and you can tell the atmosphere here is great. As someone who used to bartend, I also love to see other crews who help each other out and obviously have good chemistry working with each other. As if the service and atmosphere weren't great already, the food just tops it all off. I ordered the nachos (small platter) and ribs (large platter), which tasted amazing. The braised pork just melted in your mouth and whatever the seasoning was on it was just the perfect amount of sweet with salty. The combination of avocado drizzle, cheese, jalapeños and salsa was great. Wouldn't change a thing. The ribs were also delicious. They were tender and had the right amount of "chew". The marinade was delicious and full of flavour. It tasted great with the flight that I ordered. I'm actually not a beer person at all but Bench Brewery may have just changed my mind. I asked Nick for "not-too-hoppy" beer, light and maybe a little fruity. I gave him full creative direction and he did not disappoint! He came back with the Strawberry Grove, Twenty Mile and Stone Road. All tasted amazing and had unique qualities that I haven't really tasted in beer before. Like I said, I'm not a beer person and I never really liked sour ales but this Strawberry Grove is one I can get behind. I can picture it tasting even better with a spicy, curried dish (that's for next time). Also, they have a machine where they can put a fresh draft of beer (only Short Hills or another beer was available) into a tall boy for you to take home and it's good for up to two weeks - so that was super cool to see them do as well. All in all, had an amazing dining experience and I'd want to come back to the area (I'm from Mississauga) just to visit this place. I'll start by saying you should definitely opt to do the beer flights to try pretty much all their beers. The option is quite worth it. Food: Pork belly and the ceviche was the highlight of the dining portion. When came to the drinks nothing was quite remarkable in my opinion. Very typical IPA, Saison again the fact that I don't remember the drinks off the top of my head shows it. Service: Good service, very standard. Can't really say much about it. Got my flights and food and that's it. I don't judge standard service, it's good in my opinion if you get the job done. Ambiance: Tap room is very nice, rustic and comfortable environment. Seat quite a lot of people at the brewery and they also have the second level patio with a patio on the first floor. Recommendation: Your probably touring wine region in Niagara, so I say take your time and check them out along the way too. We came to Bench Brewing for dinner and had our cute, well-behaved chocolate toy poodle with us (see first pic!). Upon stepping onto the patio, we were stopped by a waitress that said dogs are not allowed on the patio. It was a chilly day and we were wearing hoodies. (We are also obviously/visible Asian lesbians.) We respected the rules and put our dog in the car. HOWEVER, within 20 minutes, we noticed two other dogs (also very cute) were allowed onto the patio and enjoying QT as their owners ordered, ate and drank - one dog was on his owner's lap and another hanging out comfortably with a water bowl ... all of which leads us to believe they were "allowed" and/or welcomed onto the patio while we were not ... observing this raised a lot of red flags and also questions around fair treatment of all patrons. Always a favourite. I can't resist returning to Bench every time I come back to the Niagara area. As a craft beer fanatic, I'm always on the lookout for great breweries everywhere I travel. Bench never fails to impress. They have standard beers that appeal to more general buyers, and a significant number of specialized "fun" beers including sours and barrel-aged varieties. But they are more than just a brewery - Bench offers a food menu that always appeals and exceeds expectations. My personal favourites? The oven baked Moroccan chicken wings and the nachos. Both go beyond your standard pub fare but are equally as satisfying. As an electric car owner, the fact that they have charging stations is also the cherry on top of the cake. I really enjoyed some of the sours and more unusual offerings. An unexpected surprise was the wings, which we didn't intend to have since we'd just finished lunch. However, they looked so good at another table, we ordered some. They have several flavors, all of them excellent. The wings were grilled, not fried, which made the sauces really stick to the meaty parts that had a bit of char from the grill. One star deduction because they didn't seem to have enough servers. They've only been open for a few months, so I'm sure that will improve. After several days of wine, this was a nice break! read more

Besides great selection of brews, the food here is extremely delicious. I ate the food so quickly that I didn't get to take any pictures, but the food was great and had a fancy flair at a great price between $8-$18 per dish. They have extensive outdoor seating and a beautiful tap room with seating at the bar and tables and floor to ceiling windows. They are bathroom accommodations for kids which is a huge plus. Back to the food, I ordered the Mac n cheese, bbq brisket (really good but would have liked a little more bbq zing - I'm American :)), Pork dumplings, and garden salad with goat cheese.
