1st time I went to the ER at the old location, I had to have my knee x rayed after a fall. Had to…read morewait 5 hours, in great pain. When my knee still hurt a lot a week later, I consulted an orthopedic doctor who took one look at my x rays and said, "these x rays suck. Did you by any chance have them done at Lockport Hospital? Don't ever go there again." Turned out my kneecap was fractured, not bruised as I was told at the hospital. Next time I went to the ER, at the new location, the day after thanksgiving, I had to wait 11 hours! 8 in the waiting room, 3 in the exam room, before a NP came to see me! I was told after 2 hours, if I left, I'd still be charged as they'd taken my blood pressure and asked why I was there. I had a very bad UTI and horrible back spasms with sciatica and numb feet. I have had back surgery, told the NP this, asked for an antibiotic for the UTI, and a muscle relaxer and pain killer. I've had these bad spasms before. I got an antibiotic, she refused to give me anything else I asked for, despite my history and telling her to look at my surgical scars. She refused to get the Dr on duty to talk to me. I told her, if I was an addict I could've OD'd a dozen times on what I could've scored in any bar in Lockport in the time I was at the ER. Left very angry, in tears from the pain, barely able to walk by now. Pharmacies were all closed by now, too. Was told, they were short of staff, as "no one wanted to work a holiday weekend." Excuse me? This is a HOSPITAL! When you enter medical fields, it's with the understanding you will be giving up your normal hours at times. NOT MY PROBLEM. Where I work, if you're scheduled to work and don't show up, you get written up, walked out, or FIRED. Told my orthopedic surgeon this the next day ( called him on a Saturday to get some scripts called in for a muscle relaxer and pain killer) and he called the chief of staff or whatever the boss at Eastern Niagara hospital is called, and then called me back to say they refused to call me to apologize. So, he was going to be advising his patients to stay away from this hospital if possible. I know I'll go to Suburban or DeGraff if I ever need an ER again. I'd give this hospital zero stars if I could.

My mom was admitted for emergency surgery at Eastern Niagara Hospital in September 2018. I was in…read moreCalifornia and flew back immediately. When I saw she was going here I was nervous after reading some not so shinning reviews. I can honestly tell you she got the best care possible and have joked that if I ever need surgery, I might fly home to have it done there. From the very first conversation over the phone with Dr. Jeffrey Schratz I knew my Mom was in great hands. He literally saved her life. He is not only a skilled surgeon, but a caring, wonderful person. I could go on for pages more about him, but will save that for his 5 star review. The nursing staff and aids both day and night were amazing. Mom spent around 18 days total for two surgeries and recovery. The level of care was exceptional! I wish I remember everyone's names but; Diane, Suzy, Theresa, Allie, Melinda, Ivy, Emily, Sydnie, Sergio, Chrissy, Hannah, Bridgitte, I know I am forgetting a few names, but not how awesome each and every one of you are! I know that your job isn't easy. You are dealing with people on their worst days. But each and every one of you handled whatever was tossed your way with skill, professionalism and caring. I can't thank you all enough! Is Eastern Niagara Hospital a good hospital? No, it's a Great Hospital!

How can I say this? This place is truly awful and there is NOTHING express about it. I needed to…read morehave an x ray done and it's walk in only. I waited 45 mins just to be checked in and then more waiting to have the actual 2 mins x ray. I still am in shock that they consider this place to be express. The x ray tech was nice but decided I needed her input to tell me that what I had done wasn't necessary. She's NOT a doctor. AVOID, AVOID AVOID this place! If you don't have a headache going into this place you sure will have one by the time you leave..

Mastitis is a very common ailment in breastfeeding mothers, especially within the first few months after birth. It was easy for me to realize I had it since the symptoms were textbook. There was nobody in the waiting room when I walked in, in fact, there was not a person to be seen anywhere. I almost walked out because the place didn't look open for business, but I was feverish and knew I needed help. I walked from one end of the waiting room to the other for several minutes and then just awkwardly sat down and waited until the check-person came out to her desk. Check-in wasn't bad, but I had to explain to her what mastitis is, which surprised me because I feel like that's a common infection, but she's not a doctor so whatever. I didn't have to wait long at all to be taken back, so that's good. What surprised me the most this visit was the lack of trust I had in the doctor that treated me. He walked in smelling like he had just smoked, which was gross, and he even had a boxy lump on his chest under his coat, like he was carrying a pack of cigarettes while treating patients. I find that unprofessional. I had to explain to HIM what mastitis is! It's an infection in the breast! Very common in new, lactating moms! His casual response: "What, are you breastfeeding or something?" I was floored. He palpated the area with the infection (a hard lump where it's supposed to be soft) and prescribed me antibiotics and left, like he couldn't be bothered. The nurse was so sweet though. She thought to check to make sure the medicine was safe for me to take while breastfeeding and she also suggested I call my primary or the pediatrician to ask them too, just to be safe. I appreciated that she thought of that. At the end of the day, I'm happy I was able to get the antibiotics I needed, but the fact that I had to explain my own diagnosis to the doctor and was treated like I interrupted his smoke break will stay in my memory forever. Will I still visit this urgent care? Well, the wait time is short and it's around the corner from my house, so yes. I will keep coming back. But I really hope they get a new doctor with a better bedside manner.
