I went in for a full highlight and a cut. First of all, Jessica's prices of the services went up astronomically without warning. Next, when I was able to wash and dry my hair after a few days, I noticed that it was uneven and very heavy at the bottom. I looked like I had a mushroom cap haircut. The girl that cut my hair, Jessica B., had no knowledge of taking out the heaviness and weight since I have so much hair. And if she did, she didn't do it. Then, my daughter pointed out that the back of my head was still completely dark and not one highlight touched in that area. I asked for a partial refund since I only received a partial highlight and was denied that. I got my tip back and an apology. Just a big warning that if you are wanting a high-end service, this might not be the best place to receive that. The owners were not helpful at all. read more

I received a terrible cut and color (see pictures)! Tina did not listen to what I wanted. She charged me more than she told me it would be, and refused to give even a partial refund when my husband went back to get our money back! He showed her the pictures of my hair, and she told him I should come back and let her fix it! No way I'm letting anyone there touch my hair again! I am out the cost plus additional cost I had to pay to have another stylist (not at Locks) fix it. Worst experience ever! read more

I was a little skeptical going into this with booking my husband and appointment after seeing bad reviews on men's hair cuts. We took the plunge because they were the only place open on Sunday. (Which was the only free day we had.) I am SO glad we did. His hair looks AMAZING. I am not sure of the name of the girl who cut his hair, but she had short light brown hair. She was super nice & even commended my choice in conditioner (love, beauty, and planet) If we ever need a haircut in a pinch again, we will be back! I made two appointments - one for my 3 year old daughter and one for myself to both get hair cuts. 3 days later, we show up to our appointment only to be told that our appointments weren't on the schedule. Even after showing them the conversation I had with the staff member who made the appointment, there was nothing they could do. Understandably, I was quite irritated. Hollie managed to squeeze my 3 year old in, but couldn't do mine. She was great. She was fast, since she was doing another clients hair at the same time but she did a great job. We didn't do hair wash or blow dry, and it was $25. A little high in my opinion, but, it's fine. If it weren't for Hollie's friendly manner and the front desk girls patience - we would have left and it would've been a 1 star review. read more

The owners need to work on her attitude. Who's talks to their customers with with AirPods in? We weren't even greeted we had to find the owner ourselves. So unprofessional and rude. She tried to make it seem like money was the issue when really the timing was. We tried to get our hair done today but she was "booked" till next week even though we made an appointment. The options for the services aren't even up to date we had to pick "girl's service" because there wasn't even a "women's service" option. Recently I visited Cartersville's downtown Square & I wandered into LOCKS boutique which is attached to the LOCKS salon. I found a pair of sandals that I liked & my husband purchased them for me. When I got home & try them on they were too small. It took me two weeks to get back to Cartersville to exchange them. I waited for 30 minutes in the store for the owner/manager Tina to arrive. When she entered the store, her employee explained my situation & Tina quickly said she can't exchange or return those because they were on clearance? I said they weren't marked clearance ie . all of the shoes on display were marked the same price via hand written chalkboard. So I drove an hour then waited 30 minutes for her to arrive only to be left standing in store while she rushed by me to go in 'back'. Tina was very rude & she was incorrect, because there were no clearance signs in the store when I purchased the Sandals, otherwise I would've tried them on there?! Tina is unprofessional and obviously does not know how to run a business? I recommend not buying anything at LOCKS boutique. HWalker read more

I made an appointment at this salon to get my wedding trial hair and makeup done. I saw some photos online that looked nice and figured I'd have no issues. Tina, the owner, was the stylist that did both hair and makeup. I showed her pictures of looks I would like. Natural hair and natural waves (a half up style). The outcome was definitely not natural. My makeup was nothing short of horrible. I didn't get the full effect of just how bad it was until I put my glasses on and got in my car into natural light. My hair was not "polished" in any way... Shirley Temple type ringlets that were clipped up. I should have said something right then and there, and I regret not doing so. She was so pleased with her work and I was in such a state of shock. I was late to my bridal shower that day because I had to hurry home to wash my face and redo my own makeup. On the short drive home (10 minutes), the pins started falling out of my hair. I even found two setting clips that had been left in. I contacted Tina that day to let her know what happened and how disappointed I was. I was hoping for some sort of solution, apology, anything. She offered me $30 and told me she spent 3 hours on me and would offer nothing more. I spent $150 on these services. I never did see the $30 and I'm grateful this was a trial and not my actual wedding day. A very expensive lesson learned. Photos added. read more

I've been coming to see Tina Chung for a little over a year now. Every time I visit her for a cut and color, I leave feeling like a brand new woman. She is super talented and listens to what you are wanting to accomplish, and offers her expert advice if what you're trying to do, may not work for your hair type or color. I personally appreciate her expert opinion so that I don't do something that ruins my natural color, and I appreciate her helping me choose options that help me achieve the look or color I want. I drive from out of state 3.5 hours away just to let Tina color my hair, and will continue to do so. Thank you Tina for my beautiful green hair! I'm in love! read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. It's almost not even worth writing this review because of how horribly ran this place is, but it's even worse that it's the owner giving everyone else in the salon such a bad name. I'm sure anyone else would do great work, but Tina is persistent on being confident in her work. I've had girls not even in cosmetology school yet do my hair better than this. As shown it's extremely blocky and she gave me a balayage when i came in for base color and highlights so in her eyes she did what she thought was appropriate. If you want hair that you're gonna have to leave to go get fixed somewhere else then this is 100% your place! But if you want a normal clean cut process i would never recommend Locks solely because of Tina. When i called to get it fixed the only response she had was that i'd have to pay again to get what i originally asked for. please save ur time and money and go to a salon ran by someone that actually knows how to do hair/listen to their clients. read more

She is so helpful when coloring hair and gives amazing advise! I had colored my hair so much that my hair was almost dead and when we decided to cut it all off she did an amazing job taking my long hair and styling it to a shoulder length cut that honestly, I still love. At this point I don't recommend anything. They need to actually listen to their clients, especially the owner (Tina) and when someone is being very reasonable and respectful about an issue, that they respond the same. One stylist working on one client would be nice. I was passed around like a turkey at Thanksgiving. Asked for blonde and walked out like a brass trumpet. Very inconsistent! Don't understand why the owner told me "You still have to pay for the service " All I wanted was for her to be understanding about my complaint and all she did was play the blame game. said she could fix my screwed up hair but that it would take another 2 hrs ( I had already been there for 4!). I did decline the fix because she also did not cut my hair like I had requested. It is the holiday season and a little kindness goes a long way. I was as respectful as I could possibly be while explaining that I wasn't happy with the service.  Make sure you ask for an "Experienced" Stylist because apparently not everyone in there is and you "Get what you pay for" per the owner... Not once did they say they were booked out nor did they say that there was limited availability when I called previous to coming. The owner acted as If she fit me in. A total joke if you ask me! She said "If you try to come back or call in 2 weeks I won't fix this" Why on earth at this point would I want her to?! $130 to walk out having to pull up my spotted & striped hair that is orange. Lastly, she said "My cuts are normally $40 but I didn't charge you for that" So again $130 for an AWFUL color alone. I did NOT ask to leave with spotty, striped orange hair. I asked for a caramel/blonde Balayage with some layers. Updated: Disputed with CC company and like the childish irresponsible salon owner she is, fought it and wrote smiley faces on the disputed paper along with things I did not write on the receipt. She 100% lied on the information that she provided stating that she advised me it would cost more when in fact she said it would take another 2 hours to fix the issues (free of charge) that could have been prevented by not mindlessly placing me in the hands of a completely clueless and uneducated "stylist". Please find a more trustworthy place to take care of your hair! This THE worst experience I've ever had in my entire life. Needless to say hard lesson learned. I will continue to fight this. It's been six months that I've been utilizing Tina Chung's services and I'm nothing but 100% pleased, even delighted. She shows serious expertise, keeps herself educated in the latest cutting, coloring, and styling techniques, and provides excellent services as well as a comfortable, private environment. Further, she always delivers when I throw her color curve balls (Purple! Pink! Blue!). Her staff are friendly, accommodating, and skillful as well. Today I know that I have found the hair salon of my dreams!!! First met Tina Chung a couple of months ago when my husband and I were in Cartersville for a few days, he needed a hair cut badly so we popped into Locks Salon and met the owner, Tina Chung. My husband has naturally curly hair and is very particular about how his hair is cut. They had a conversation and within minutes Tina knew exactly what he wanted. Needless to say he was a happy man upon leaving her salon. At that time I didn't need my hair done. Fast forward today both my husband and I were in desperate need of hair cuts so we popped in and she managed to work us both in. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, Tina made a few added suggestions which I was in total agreement with and she began her magic. My hair cut and style turned better than I could imagine. I think that I finally found my stylist for life. Tina is a very caring person, a great listener with great feedback. She continues to be the very best in her industry by continuing to learn and grow she is also a great mentor to the ladies that work with her. The funny thing is we don't even live in Cartersville our employer, Quest Trucking is here. the worst salon i've been too. Tina and what i think was her assistant did my hair and after she said no to what i asked her for, the plan was a very subtle balayage, tone and a trim. she was distracted the entire time doing the balayage and it was so clumpy and sporadic, i now have horizontal lines halfway down my head. they were also so rough with my hair and my head it seriously hurt. after the toner and washing my hair and blow drying it i was supposed to get a cut. Tina then puts me in a different room and leaves me there for 1-2 hours. i eventually took off the cape and said i'm ready to pay, and Tina tells her assistant to charge me for a balayage, toner, and CUT. and her assistant had to remind her that she never cut my hair and all she said was "oh." and then OVERCHARGED me anyway. my hair turned out nothing like what i asked for, she purely did whatever she wanted and probably the only thing she knew how to do. She also told two other clients that walked in that they could not get what they were asking for and suggested to them the same exact thing she suggested to me. I will never being going back there or recommend them to anyone. now I have to spend even more money getting it fixed. read more

Tina is an awful business owner who will not take responsibility for doing a bad job. She was incredibly rude and condescending about my situation and even shamed me when I told her what was going on. Getting my hair dyed cost $200 and ALL the color was gone within a few days. I called to see what may have happened and to look for a solution and she blamed me for not buying her overpriced shampoo. Color should last more than 2 weeks, period. read more

Soooo..I booked a cut and blow out. However I have curly hair and decided perhaps a few foils for highlights and just the cut and leave it curly (since it's raining). I booked two slots to ensure there was enough time. I arrive a few minutes early. Tina walks over and starts asking me a bunch of questions about my color and states she wasn't so sure my hair would lift. So I tell her I am a hairstylist (30 years now actually) and I've foiled it myself every year actually and it lifts to lighter highlights easily. I then get a lot of reasons why she is running behind and then she says she doesn't want to be here until 8pm. I then say just a cut is fine. She then send someone else over to "start the cut." I'm sorry, it does not take two people to cut hair. No hello, nothing friendly to say..just excuses and treated as if I'm a nuisance. I had an appointment!! (2 slots!!). I knew better than to book the end of the day on aa Saturday..but I didn't expect such an unfriendly welcome my first time to this place. There are a few other bad reviews about her being rude. I was visiting Cartersville on a family emergency and needed to have my hair done. I called Lock's and was told that they could see me at 3:00. When I got there I had to wait because the hairdresser was putting color on another customer. My appointment was last minute so I understand that. When she finally got to me I explained that I wanted my base color lighter and the highlights to be ashy and not golden. I had not colored my hair for quarantine and I am trying to get to where my grey new growth will blend in better. It seemed like she understood what I was saying. She had a woman who was training do the color on one side and she did the other. When my hair was finally finished being washed out, she took off the towel and I almost cried. The darker part of my hair was SO DARK. I said, "wow, that is dark" she said "well, it's Ashe". She then told me that when I got home I could have my hairdresser lighten it. What?! I didn't pay $188.00 to have to go get it redone. Overall it was a huge disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this salon. read more

Unprofessional, and I DO NOT recommend!! I made an appointment online as a first time client on Thursday January 17th for 7:30am on Saturday for a regular haircut. On Friday January 18th around 2:30pm someone called from the salon asking if I could change my appointment because they actually don't do appointments at 7:30am "they weren't sure why it was even an option to select that online". I told them I had plans almost all day that's why I selected such an early time. They said they are open on Sunday which I was unaware of so I agreed to an appointment at 10am on Sunday. I was emailed a confirmation of my appointment and I thought everything was ok. When I walked into the salon on Sunday morning I was greeted with a hello and the lady behind the desk which I'm assuming is the owner and she said "oh, I WAS going to call you, can we cut your hair tomorrow?" "We're re-doing our flooring and no one can walk on them!!!" I said no, and said it was absolutely ridiculous that my appointment had already been changed once. You don't just decide a in a few hours to re-do your flooring. Obviously they don't care about their clients if they can't call them ahead of time to let them know the salon is pretty much closed. read more

I so wanted this to be a good salon experience. I have a child who has been ill for about a year and a half. It is stressful and I don't get opportunities to do things for myself very often. My husband thought I would enjoy a luxury haircut, so he gave me a Locks gift certificate. It actually took me a few months before I could get the time away from the family, but when the time came, I scheduled an appointment with Tina, the owner. I showed up at my appointed time on the appointed day. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the very nice woman who washes hair. It took 20 minutes before I was called back to the hair washing station. I have to say that it was the most relaxing hair wash I have ever had. After that, she had me sit at a station between two of other customers who obviously had appointments with Tina for the same time slot as I did. There, with wet hair, I waited an additional 20 minutes. When Tina finally came over, she asked me what I wanted. I said a trim. She said that wouldn't make my hair look different and I said that was okay, that I was a busy mom and usually wore my hair up anyway. She started sort of lifting my hair up and said how frizzy it looked (in front of the other customers). I was annoyed because I am proud of my curly hair. She offered to do a Keratin treatment, price $300.00. I thanked her, but declined, as I am happy with the texture of my hair. She then spent several minutes trying to talk me into different types of hair straightening and other things I could to to "smooth out" my obviously unacceptable hair. I declined them all and said I still just wanted the trim because I really did need to be able to put my hair up, as I usually wore it that way. Perhaps there needs to be some salon sensitivity training about different ethnicities and their different hair types. Tina cut my hair and, while she is cutting it, informs me she is putting it in layers. I was slightly alarmed because by this point I had told her twice I just wanted a trim, not a new style. She assured me I would still be able to wear it up. At one point I made a comment about fine furniture and Tina said, "Oh, Is that where you spend your money? On furniture?" I suppose she was upset that I didn't spring for a Keratin treatment, though I can't be sure. When she was done, I paid with my gift certificate and handed Tina $9.00 and asked her to give it to the lady who washed my hair since it was the only good part of the experience. Tina said, "Oh you want me to share this with her?" I was under the impression that owners customarily didn't accept tips, but at that point I just wanted to leave and told her to do whatever she wanted with the money. Of course, when I got home, I couldn't put my hair up without it hanging strangely. I'll have to wait for those layers to grow back out. She can keep the $14.00 remaining on the gift certificate. Men's Haircuts? NO WAY! This place butchered me. I would recommend that the stylist that cut my hair show a license to cut or go back to school to improve your skillet, practice your trade, the price for a butchered cut was outrageous at $25.00 with tip, absolutely horrible. She also used someone else's credit card machine on check out as they did not have one up front, made me wait 10 minutes and had to call someone to ask how to do it over the phone, very un-professional. read more

My boyfriend and I both made appointments for our first visit and both of the stylists were 30 min late. After 30 minutes, someone who was not the stylist washed my hair and after, I waited another 10-15 minutes for Tina. I showed her multiple pictures of the a-line I wanted and thoroughly explained that I wanted it very long in the front and short in the back. While she began cutting my hair she was telling me about how horrible her client was before me, how bad she felt for the man she went home to, how this lady could just sit outside and let her hair process for all she cared and how she just want to have a Xanax. At this point I became scared that an angry lady was cutting my hair. After she did the cut, someone else dried my hair half way and I was left sitting AGAIN for another 10 minutes until Tina came back over to finish drying my hair. She did some touch up cutting and over cut one side of my hair by about an inch. At this point my cut turned into a bob, not an a-line. I was so frustrated and not to mention late for my plans I just wanted to leave. I asked about pricing and told a haircut was $41.. they charged $45. $4 does not by any means break my bank but it was morality of it that bothered me. I tried to get used to my hair over the next few days but was still unhappy. I called back and Tina offered to do a redo. I went in to the salon, no greeting, no one checked me in, nothing. Tina took me in the back, we discussed how we could fix my hair (just by taking more off the back ONLY) and within 10 minutes she had cut one side shorter IN THE FRONT! I pointed it out and she immediately got frustrated. At this point I just wanted to cry. She offered free product samples but what is that going to do for me? She effed up my hair twice. I don't know how I had bad experiences twice considering this place has good reviews. I would not recommend Tina and I am definitely never going back. read more

Went in for a trim last night. What a horrible experience. I've never written a bad review review but this place was silly. I showed up 10 minutes early, by 15 min after my appointment an assistant asked if I'd like my hair to be washed, I said no since I had my hair washed already, plus by this time I'm ready to get my appointment going. When 45 minutes past I finally was ready to leave. The owner was up front by the lobby and insisted I get my hair washed and she'll cut my hair - 10$ off. Once again told her I didn't need a wash, just a trim. Then I got my hair washed. As the assistant washed my hair we decide that it'd be ok to see my original stylist instead of the owner since she still had a client. I get sat in her chair and soon enough, before my stylist can introduce herself she comes up and gets me saying " she's mine". I've never felt so humiliated in this sort of situation. I felt so bad for this girl, as the owner later told me she's in training. I wanted to apologize to her so badly because I know how awful she must've felt. My hair cut was sub-par, even though she was rushing to get me out of there as soon as she could. Oh, and that 10$ off..the owner charges 10$ more than the others, so really I paid the same price. What a joke. Cute place, but the owner needs to show more respect to her employees if she wants to run a good business. read more
