I wish I could give zero stars. Stephanie absolutely butchered my haircut. I've had this exact one done before at two other local salons and just needed a trim and re-edged line design. I showed the stylist my example photograph (and a second time at her request). After I saw the result of her work and explained it was not what I asked for, she said the finger-thick lines were in the picture. I showed her the photo again and she still thought it looked similar. Even if the lines were meant to be thick, the entire cut is unevenly lined up. I left entirely and painfully unhappy, and now have to grow back this absolutely awful cut. I wouldn't recommend this stylist to anyone. read more

This is a very nice salon with many products and services to choose from very nice ambience in the inside, however it is very difficult to get an appointment for getting your hair done here I have been twice and both times it was a hassle to get an appointment then when I went in both times it was very young girls that were just out of hair school and could tell didn't have a whole lot of experience within a week of getting highlights the color had washed out and there were spots missed at the hairline that were still grayI would like to see some employees with a little more experience maybe I am just not getting the right person when I go. read more

Went here with a Groupon that I had purchase for an Aveda Spa Mani & Pedi. I arrived at 5:50pm for a 6:00pm appointment. Upon my arrival I was greeted by the receptionist who was apparently having HER hair done during work hours as she had a head full of foils in her own hair. I thought that this was rather unprofessional but dismissed it because they closed at 7pm and I was one of their last bookings. As 6pm rolled around a stylest who worked their came in with a cake and balloons. She began talking to the receptionist about some birthday party that they were apparently going to after the salon closed that evening. She then announced that if anyone needed her she would be over at the counter on the other side of the waiting area "putting her face on". Again, I found this to be VERY unprofessional and it got worse as she proceded to use the Aveda makeup displays for her own makeup application!!! Time kept ticking and it was almost 6:30pm by the time I was greeted by Amy who was going to be doing my mani & pedi. She was polite and well put together. She led me back to the nail portion of the salon was and I was instantly disappointed. The area had old dingy tile & carpet, the pedicure chairs were old and had cracks in the leatherette that covered them. The polish selection was poor and the bottles were covered in acrylic dust. The pedicure was average and so was the gel manicure. It wasn't the best nor was it the worst. If you are going to go ask for Amy as she is nice and will do a fine job. I will never go back as the atmosphere is sub par, very unprofessional as a whole and NOTHING EVEN CLOSE to being spa like. read more

I've been here a few times but only because I couldn't get a booking for the time I needed anywhere else. Even so, every time I've been here, a different receptionist. None of them friendly or accommodating. One of them couldn't find my appointment once and waved me to the nearest chair to see if she could find anyone to "take me." Take me she did. The stylist did a 1/2 a$$ job of working on me (she had 3 clients going at the same time), put the color on my hair and disappeared for about 30 minutes. Came back and rinsed my color out only to put a plastic cap on my head and sit me under the dryer for another 30 minutes. When she finally got around to actually cutting my hair, she took maybe a 1/4 inch off it all the way around and then started to style it. I reminded her that we had already discussed not only cutting my hair shorter but cropping it on the top where it gets thick quicker. She sort of banged her forehead and then started to cut. The style was less than average. It was the last time I've been in there. 2-stars because I've only had a good experience there one time. It's a very tiny place so don't expect a lot of pampering. Had a pedicure once (can't remember the girl's name) but it was over in about 10 minutes after I got in the ratty-looking chair. Apparently, she had somewhere else to be so she made it quick. Didn't massage my feet and barely put lotion on them. No sanding at all. read more

My fiance has Uncle Jesse hair. He spends exorbitant amounts of time maintaining it. I can't blame him, since his locks always heart throbbingly fall. I attribute this to genetics as well as his regular 6-week appointments with his hairdresser Dawn. Sometimes when we bask in snuggletime glory, I attempt to run my hands through the black, shiny strands, only for him to bark, "Don't touch the hair!" While there, I stocked up on Aveda shampoo and Moroccan Oil since the store's July promotion boasts a buy three items, get 30% off deal. I particularly enjoyed chatting with Ty at the front desk. His hair is beautiful in a different way, with thick curls wildly lobbing on one side and neat shaved lines on the other. My entire experience as Challise & Co. was a very positive one. I found a deal on Groupon for a wax and I was interested in trying their services. When I called for an appointment, the woman I spoke to (unfortunately, I am unable to remember her name) was very polite and knowledgeable, and able to fit me in for the following day. When I got there, I was greeted by Tyler (sp?), whom was very upbeat and sincere. I was told that the wax expert was unfortunately behind due to an appointment that had run over. Which was okay with me...some might be annoyed, but I understand it happens...I know I have caused appointments to overflow with my hair stylists alone. They were so friendly, I did not have a problem with it. When my specialist, Debborah (not sure of the spelling, I believe she spelled with it two "b"s) came out, she was as friendly and as open as it gets. For having such an "intimate" area waxed, she was friendly, talkative, and any nervousness over pain, shyness, etc was eliminated. The waxing area was clean and comfortable (they also do massages in that area as well, I believe). The job was excellent, and was over before I realised it. After I tipped her, I was in such a good mood, I walked out without showing my Groupon. It was when I was driving home that I realised what I had done, so I pulled over and called them. Tyler picked up the phone and was extremely nice when I explained what I had done. I gave him my Groupon information, and that was that. I honestly felt so bad, he actually had reassure me, lol. I called to make an appointment with a experience hair stylist and communicated the same to Mady, who answered the phone, she said the stylist she made the appointment with would know how to color and cut my hair. Well, I should had gone with my intuition, resulted in color that was way darker than I told her I wanted, she said the color was the one as the base on the picture I showed her. End up with almost black hair color, not even my natural hair color is the color I know have. My fault, I should have known better and listen to my intuition. The stylist a very young girl just out of hair school and could tell didn't have a whole lot of experience. The salon, they try to be friendly but is okay, front desk is all over the place don't know where to find the forms you have to fill when you are a new client. This was the worse pedicure ever. It was not even a Pedicure. All the girl did was soak my feet for two minutes, put some lame scrub on my feet for half a minute and then rub a bunch of lotion on my legs.The pedicure maybe lasted 15 minutes. She did not even scrub my feet or heels at all and that is why I get pedicure. Anyone can paint their toe nails, it's not rocket science. Also she would not give me the color that I wanted. She kept trying to talk me in to a different color not getting the hint that this is not what I want. Also the towels that she used on me were stained and ripped. I can't even say for sure if they were clean. She got them from a basket of unfolded towels that was just sitting by the shampoo bowls so they could of been used. The whole nail area was disgusting. Dirty with ratting looking chairs and dirty nail polish bottles. When she went to paint my nails, she just stuck a paper towel between my toes. I'm paying good money for this they could of given me real toe separators instead of taking a dirty roll of paper towels off the floor. The lady spent the whole time trying to get me to book other services or buy products. I understand thy need to ask but after the first time I say no then that should be it. I participated in a Botox special which included a facial and a specific amount of Botox injections which I was told by the RN doing the injections was enough to take care of my forehead and my "11s". They usually have these kinds of "specials" once a month as they have a nurse that comes in to do the injections. I've used her at Challise in the past for Botox and the results were fabulous. This time, it didn't work at all. There was no measurable results. I called Challise on 4 separate occasions. I was told upon the first call to give it some more time. I thought perhaps I got a bad batch of Botox. They told me no one else has complained. They assured me the nurse would call me as she doesn't work there and she would need to call me back. She never called. I spent hundreds of dollars and gave a very generous tip. Bc of the lack of concern and absolutely no follow up, I will not be returning. I'm disappointed. I suppose I might be a little bias as I have been going here for years. Anya is my hair person, Amy is my nail person and Courtney & Melissa are my massage therapists. Anya has found a good style for my hair that is great! I do color "low lights" and it took a time or two to get it right but that is because I kept calling them "high lights". Anya is typically quiet when she does my hair, which doesn't bother me (some people prefer a talker). After getting to know her I have found that she is witty and cares about whether you like the work or not. Amy is a great nail person. She is quick and personable which can be a difficult combination to get in a nail person (usually it is one or the other). Maria also does good work and is consistent with her work. I have noticed that they tend to stick with solids and don't do much of the "designer" type nails (like airbrush looks or decals) but I haven't required them to do those either. Courtney and Melissa are both GREAT massage therapists. I am glad for this because if one is not available the other usually is! I always leave feeling happy!!! And Ty is a sweet guy that will work hard to find an appointment that works for you! Thanks, Ty for fitting me in!! (I cannot remember the other one's name but I love her too). The only negatives there are (by my point of view) is that it takes a while to check out and there is no waiting or sitting area for clients before and after appointments (although, you don't have to wait long to be seen). I think this process can be tweaked a bit to be efficient but it works. I have enjoyed going to this place for years and have seen it evolve over the years and believe that it is better now than it ever has been before. Thanks for all of your help!!!! I went to this salon for the first time last week. I visited their new location and was impressed with the appearance and service at the salon. I was greeted in a friendly manner when arrived, was offered something to drink and only had to wait a couple of minutes for my service. I had my hair highlighted and my brows waxed while I was there, and both services were very positive experiences. Each staff member I dealt with went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable and happy. I was very pleased with the way my hair and eyebrows looked and I am not easy to please when it comes to my hair color. Being new to the area and needing a new aveda salon, I bought the shellac mani and pedicure from groupon to try this place out. I'm surprised it remains an aveda salon. The nail station was so run down and dingy. Cracked linoleum floors, old chairs, just overall very run down looking. Amy finished up her other client while my feet were soaking then she set an old school kitchen timer, but she kept getting up in the middle of my pedicure to make sure a different client of hers was booked with her and not the other tech, so unprofessional. Literally on my time! For my lame massage she had the scrub on my leg and proceeded to put the lotion on over that and rub my legs. Not the most relaxing. Then for my manicure, the lamest poor excuse for a manicure. She filed my nails, maybe cut 3 cuticles, didn't even push them back (my cuticles are so dry so they ALL could've used some love) put the shellac polish on. I have never had shellac polish done so I researched it on the companies website and let me say I don't think she was properly trained on shellac. She didn't let it sit the required length of time. After the coats were done she put alcohol on my fingers, didn't let me wash my hands and then rubbed lotion on my hands with the alcohol. I have super dry hands and fingers so that was awesome. Washed my hands then I was done. I walked on 1hr and 10min for both a manicure and pedicure. This was the lamest pedi/mani I have ever received. You would think they would use the groupon as a way of giving excellent service to get people to come back and pay for their overpriced services. Totally disappointed that aveda attached their name and great brand to this salon. Emailed the salon to let them know about my bad experience and shockingly never heard back. Bad business. read more
