The lower-level parking structure right next door has many conflicting signs. Even the staff at Locurio weren't sure how to help us ensure free safe parking. While planning our visit to Seattle, I wanted to see what their best escape room was, and Locurio popped up. This is hands down, our favorite escape room ever!! We were blown away by everything, and as an ex-games master, that is hard to do. The theming, immersiveness, and theatrics of it all was perfection. Our room was The Storykeeper, and it was fantastic. Our game masters were also amazing! I can't remember their names, but they made the experience awesome. Shoutout to them!! Locurio Escape Rooms provides a unique escape room experience that I would highly recommend (though would also recommend one room over the other.) On a recent trip with my family, we decided to do both of the available escape rooms at Locurio based on the great reviews. For the uninitiated, they do a great job of orienting those to the escape room mechanics and provide plenty of interaction/opportunity for hints to keep the rooms going when stuck. The Vanishing Act (5/5): Based around the mysterious disappearances of a group of assistants to a certain magician, there is a great mix of reasonable mechanical and technical puzzles that truly made this room feel close to perfect! Very few clues felt like red herrings and nothing too out there to make it feel impossible. Our group really enjoyed this! The Storyteller (4/5): This was definitely the more difficult room, but also felt like the puzzles seemed a little bit more of a reach. While some of the technical aspects of this room were neat, it did become frustrating at points. Overall, a unique room but was not as satisfying due to the high need for hints. Thankfully was able to find street parking several blocks away both times. However, there was also the Fremont Farmers Market on one day so be aware street parking may be difficult on that day! Between my partner and I, we've done over 100 escape rooms; weirdly, we never attempted Locurio until tonight! The reviews never lie yall! Of all the escape rooms I've done, this one takes the top spot. All great escape rooms have the following: - Difficult, yet intuitive puzzles - Locks - Red Herrings - A few hints - A stellar staff Locurio has all this and more! We played the Storykeeper and it was amazing, very immersive incredible sets, good puzzles! I really enjoyed the costumes and the hint system. There was a great variety of puzzles including physical puzzles, logic puzzles, and teamwork puzzles. Super creative puzzles and great for people who want to be really challenged. We did the Vanishing Act. Great variety of puzzles and without giving away too much, great themes that you'll be surprise about (and possibly fear if you're short on time). One of the best escape rooms I've ever done and they pack so much in one room without excessive repetitive or mindless tasks (ex. collecting). And I mean literally almost everything is a clue which is awesome. We completed this with a group of 6 and loved how everyone had a chance to be involved as it required multiple perspectives to solve some of the puzzles. Big thanks to the staff who stay in character while providing hints. They do a great job of letting you struggle a bit before offering a hint so you feel like you're not dragged to the finish line. There was one part of puzzle that we have no idea how anyone would solve but maybe people who are experienced would pick up on this, but definitely need one of those hints for completion as we never experienced a problem like that before. This room is still kept in good condition so the whole experience was very smooth (some escape rooms have things that are falling apart or don't respond as they should). Highly recommended for anyone, first timers or experienced groups! I think at least 4 people would make the Vanishing Act enjoyable. Hope to come back as we truly had a great time. There is a reason this has consistently been a 5-star puzzle room. We tried to make a reservation several times but it's tough to get in as they are often booked solid - which is great or them! And sooooo well deserved. We finally had the opportunity to experience and it did not disappoint. Wow, best escape room I've done! Trying not to spoil anything here/ the entrance and location is a bit odd since it looks and feel like apartment buildings, but it works out really well. Things were explained to us, and it was rather interactive as well- both the tech and the "puzzles." Ultimate teamwork here to escape. Really fun- mentally and very eye pleasing. I can't recommend Locurio enough. The staff are amazing at their jobs and are super personable and friendly. They really get into character and know exactly when to offer help without being too pushy. There's only 2 rooms and my group opted to try The Storykeeper (as we only had 4 and the other room recommended a minimum of 6 people). They also have an outdoor game where you wander about the area, kind of like a scavenger hunt? I was also told they have another game that they offer to larger groups (think 20-80 people and murder mystery dinner-esque but with spies and no deaths). They rarely run it, but they recently did one at a wedding. I thought that was a fabulous idea and as someone who is obsessed with escape rooms, I would TOTALLY be down for this as a wedding activity. The games are private, so it's just you and your group. You can tell that a lot of thought and detail went into all the props and puzzles. Our game was 70 minutes long and cost about $60/person. It was money well spent and I really felt like I was immersed in the story. I'm also 99% sure that staff gave us an extra 5 minutes to solve the puzzles as we were so close to escaping, but they played it off like we still had 1.5 minutes to spare. Years ago I saw a list of the top escape rooms in the world. Locurio was on it and since then I've had this place bookmarked waiting for the day that I can visit with a group of people. I finally had that chance. Locurio is located in the Fremont neighborhood near the Fremont Bridge. There is no private lot but there is street parking around the area. You can also get here by bus as there are a couple bus lines that take you very close. They joke that the first puzzle is finding the actual place because map directions will take you to the part of the building facing the street. However, to get to the actual entrance follow the signs to an alleyway between Aesop and Mod Pizza and go down the stairs. It'll then be on your right. The escape room that is ranked as one of the world's best is The Storykeeper. We didn't do that one this time; instead we did The Vanishing Act but I knew that it would be great as well. We had 70 minutes to complete the puzzle and its difficulty level is considered hard. They refer to the rooms as puzzle rooms instead of escape rooms because you're not trying to "escape" but instead you're trying to solve the puzzle to the story. I won't spoil the details but with a group of 7 people we were able to complete the puzzle with 10.5 minutes remaining and the entire experience was amazing! The puzzles were well thought out and complex and the storyline was compelling. The price per person for The Vanishing Act is $40 and for The Storykeeper is $45. I would love to come back and try The Storykeeper next time. The prices are well worth the quality of the "escape" room and the puzzles. If you have a group of 6-8 people this is a fun activity to test out your puzzle solving skills! read more

I've now done both escape rooms at Locurio and hope they add more because I would love to go again! They also made us feel quite safe by requiring all staff and participants wear masks. I rarely review non-food places, but need to shout out Locurio for the best escape room I've ever done! It's not just a room, it's an experience! It includes live characters, digital tech, and an incredible storyline. We did The Storyteller with just four people and even though you can do with just two, I recommend having at least four to split up the clues. It was a fantastical journey through the course which it's so intricate and had so many handmade details, I truly thought the experience justified the expensive price ($55/pp for four). Worth the money - way better than some $35-$40 rooms I've done. The staff is awesome! The entrance is pretty hard to find, but basically, it's next to the lower entry/exit of the Fremont Vintage Mall. If you're on the street, go down the stairs next to Aesop. read more

Locurio is really awesome! Big thanks to Nate, Eric and our wonderful actress who played Jak in our Storyteller room (did not get her name but she was really enthusiastic!) for accommodating us for our visit in Seattle! We were stoked to try this room and it definitely delivered! The room itself is very immersive and you do truly feel like you're in a tale! The mechanics of the room were great and the puzzles were very clever! For someone who has done a good amount of escape rooms I was stumped for many of them although they were pretty straight forward when you did understand the assignment! I would recommend 3-4 people for this room because there's quite a lot going on, my partner and I played with just us two and had to do separate puzzles to make up for time but that was fun too! :) Eric had a brilliant introduction and I love his energy too. Thank you to both actors for helping us through the story when we were stuck! We really appreciated it! Would love to try their other rooms! PS easiest way to get to the entrance is down some staircases that connect to the sidewalk and you'll see a gate where you can enter on your right and walk up to the second floor to see the entrance! read more

I did "The Storykeeper" today with a group of 4 and I am dumbfounded at the level of creativity, attention to detail, and the sophisticated tech in this escape room! This is probably my 8th escape room and 3rd in Seattle and it takes the cake at #1! No spoilers but I am a big fan of their enthusiasm and storytelling. Exceeded expectations. A lot of surprises! Great flow to the story and very intricate yet fun puzzles that tease your senses! Encourages a ton of teamwork also!!! The level of difficulty is about a 4/5. (No spoilers) The production value that goes into the room we did was wild. There was a perfect amount of atmosphere without distracting from the puzzles. They really transformed the room to make you feel immersed. The amount of cost, thought, and time that went into the clever puzzles was obvious with each one. If I ever go into an escape room and notice everything covered in locks I know it's not going to be a good room. This theory did not disappoint; most of their puzzles were electronically triggered through intuitive puzzles rather than just finding a key to the next lock. The pacing itself was pretty great as well. We figured out most of the clues in a good amount of time that didn't feel too quick/easy or too difficult. They had a fun way of giving hints without breaking the 4th wall which was nice. Additionally, if you didn't want to get the clues you didn't need to. Tip- If you do want a hint however, just say what you are doing out load (including lock guesses) and you may get a hint to whether it is the right direction We did the bookkeeper and as far as the storyline goes, we were not excited at first when buying it but as we went through the room it got much better. They explain the story at the beginning and this is one of my only gripes. The beginning explanation took a bit and could have been a bit more to the point. That being said, the actor was a fun edition especially later in the room. I have been to a fair number of escape rooms and this is now my favorite. Check them out! read more

We had failed pretty hard at Storykeeper last spring (I was just having an off day, lol) and this past week we redeemed ourselves! The owner, Summer, went way above and beyond to make sure we could come back and play again, as well as give us a chance to play the other room too, The Vanishing Act. After playing both rooms to the end, I'm completely amazed at the story, the immersion, the set design, the stellar GM's and the INCREDIBLE puzzle design. The puzzles in both of these rooms pretty much left me speechless. Everything flowed so well, and all the puzzles felt like part of the story. The set design left me not wanting to ever leave, the rooms are so magical and SO freaking cool. I can't WAIT to see what new experiences Locurio is cooking up. Both their rooms are some of the best I've ever done!! My boyfriend and I have done over 30 escape rooms and these have to be hands down the top. The Storykeeper: the setting of this is stunning to say the least. We did it with just the both of us and we found it quite challenging. I would recommend going with more people (they recommend a minimum of 6 people) but if there's only two of you, still go for it haha. It's definitely worth the experience!! So much though and effort was put in to this room for sure The Vanishing Act: the setting of this room was also insanely nice!! Thought it was a little easier then storekeeper and might be a better option if you have less people but this is a must try room as well! My friends and I traveled to Seattle area to mainly do escape rooms. All together for the weekend we did 4 escape rooms. Two at Locurio which was Vanishing Act and Story Teller. Story Teller was my favorite out of all of them. Both were great had a good amount of puzzles and riddles that almost took us the whole hour and kept our whole group busy. My favorite was definitely Story Teller. I don't want to give anything away about the rooms. The actors in each one were great. The communication between us and the game master was greta as well. Everyone there was very friendly. I highly recommend Locurio for those who like escape rooms. I hope they do come out with more rooms. now that one of our friends is a current resident in Seattle. We'll be back. You do meet in this weird alley. I did think it was sketch at first because we chose the late time slots at 7:30pm and 9:30pm So it was dark waiting in the alley. We chose Locurio due to the great reviews on Yelp. We picked Vanishing Act because it's the most difficult room. We DID escape but with less than a minute to spare. It's a 70 minute room and we definitely needed the extra minutes. I enjoyed the Game Master, she did a great job as the next magician's assistant and helped us along when she thought we were taking too long on a lock, gave helpful hints along the way. There were a couple of puzzles that were new to me and fun to solve. I always look for that because I've done so many escape rooms all over the US. While this room was fun and some of the puzzles were challenging, it's comparable to a lot of the rooms I've already done. There really wasn't anything different or anything that stands out, except maybe one or two puzzle that I've never seen before. They say that Locurio is the tenth best escape room in the world (maybe I misread - maybe just Seattle? Or west coast) so I was expecting the same production level as the rooms I've done in Orlando and LA where they use screens and music and lighting that makes you feel thoroughly immersed and this wasn't it. I've been to rooms that have scared the crap out of me just on their decoration and lighting alone. Or rooms that purposely make you feel more stressed as time keeps ticking by from the music/ sounds. I think the Story room probably has all the techy stuff because it has fantastic reviews and I kinda wished we had the time to check that room out. I paid a little over $47 per person for the room. I had the absolute pleasure to play both games at Locurio in Seattle this past weekend. This establishment definitely lives up to its TERPECA rankings, from the hospitality of the gamemasters and the talent of the actors. All of their rooms have a live actor component and are 70 min games. It's located in the quirky neighborhood of Fremont, so there's plenty of places to explore and eat and drink before or after your game. Some thoughts about each game: The Vanishing Act - A magic themed room where you explore a magician's dressing room, that then takes a bit of a turn. These are some of the most layered puzzles I've seen and really do require a deeper level of thinking to solve. The Great Noximillian did best our small team of two, but I still had a lot of fun. Definitely bring a larger group if you can. There is plenty of content to keep your team busy the entire 70 mins. Slight creep factor, so inquire ahead if concerned! The Storykeeper - OMG, this game has skyrocketed to my top 5! Don't want to spoil too much but the pages of the storybook truly come to life before your eyes. The actor did such a fantastic job, both delivering the scripted parts and his improv with us throughout the game. The puzzles are really fun and interesting and fit perfectly with the story.
