I had an excellent experience here. The owners are wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with them. The breakfast each day was substantial and the food quality excellent. Really good organic coffee too! I devoured each meal. I had dinner here one night as well and it was also very good (trout with a tasty crab cake that actually had crab - often find they are breadcrumbs and mayo - and properly cooked fresh tasting vegetables). I stayed in the upstairs room which is very spacious though does have more stairs if that is an issue for you. Grounds are lovely as well. Close to the Greenbrier river trail and the town which is small but cute and the folks friendly. Great place to bike and hike.

We rode our motorcycles to this tidy town nestled in the Monongahela park. We were looking for a place for dinner and walked over to Locust Hill. They sent a car to get us and the town is so small, they found us walking. It is a wonderful property and home. We arrived to a trivia game with a great showing of townspeople and guests. The menu is small with salads and sandwiches. Overall the food is honest (ok) but it is served with a smile.

I just had to review my experience at this B&B ! In one word, amazing !!! The rooms were very clean, the house was lovely and the setting was magical. We stayed two nights and rode in on motorcycles. The home sits on 22 acres with a fish pond and all kinds of games. The owners were very gracious and went out of their way to be accommodating. The restaurant had an amazing menu and everything was cooked to perfection. If you are looking for an excellent place to stay with plenty of places to see nearby, I would totally reccomend this B&B. Felt like family !

Old nasty towel on a cinder block is apparently what you step on to get in the hot tub!

Ambiance is comfortable and laid back. Food is delicious. There's a cabin on the grounds that is a wonderful vacation spot.

The hotel isn't so old, I was told 17 years old but it seems older with its classic style - it's gingerbread moldings and large porches - and it's quite cute. I really enjoyed my time here. I'm glad that I read about the lack of WiFi and cellphone service in advance so I was prepared. I took it as a break to spend time with my friends and husband - a time to disconnect. They also host spiritual conferences there, we were told. I can imagine it being a good place for a church retreat - the rates for conferences were very reasonable - advertised in the $400 range for a full weekend of meals and activities. I can imagine this business growing as the location is extremely beautiful and it's a powerful thing to disconnect and reconnect with loved ones.

Fast forward ten years later and here we are, back at the Hummingbird Inn celebrating our 10 year engagement anniversary. In the past ten years, we have traveled far and wide, to hotels, restaurants, national parks and overseas. We had no idea what to expect about the Hummingbird Inn after being to so many places since than. Once we arrived, the Hummingbird Inn was not only just as romantic as we remember, but even better than we remember. There is just something about this place that is so serene and peaceful; the details that go into every room and feature are spectacular. This by far is the best place to rekindle the fire with that special someone. As for the location, the inn is located in a small secluded mountain town with a nearby train that passes by once a day, which added to the quaint romantic atmosphere. You can easily explore the Shenandoah and come back to enjoy a nice bottle of wine on the deck or their newly designed gazebo, built by the owners themselves. The jetted tub in the Alleghany room is still one of the nicest tubs that we have ever had. The new owners, Sandra and Jeff, have done an amazing job at maintaining and adding to this beautiful bed and breakfast. Sandra, with a hospitality background, is a very bubbly, friendly and gracious host, giving you a list of things to do in the area. Jeff, with a carpentry background, maintains everything beautifully. Each of their breakfasts were delicious and super accommodating in terms of dietary restrictions. For instance, I wanted plant based meat instead of real meat and they accommodated that request. They even acknowledged our anniversary by giving us some complimentary soap that they sold exclusively at the inn. In addition to soap, they also provide the purchase of their linens, some of the best linens that you will ever experience. We are very thankful to have returned to our little piece of heaven after all these years. Thanks to Sandra and Jeff, our piece of romantic paradise still exists to this day and has many years to go. We plan to celebrate every milestone anniversary at the Hummingbird Inn...no matter what or where life takes us.

The old house is beautifully appointed and so tasteful. Hosts Sandra and Jeff super friendly and thoughtful. The breakfasts were outstanding, really you couldn't do better in a 5 star restaurant. Breakfast at 9 but coffee available earlier. Home made brownies and muffins in the afternoon, coffee and tea always available. A frige stocked with water and soft drinks. Bathroom stocked with nice toiletries and slippers and bathrobes. Dog dishes and mats for the pooch. The lawn and planting are so beautiful. Perfect for enjoying coffee. The whole house is open for your use (but dog must stay in room). There's TV, DVDs, books to share. You can only get Verizon cell service unfortunately. Highly recommend The Hummingbird Inn and it's lovely hosts!
