My wife and I got engaged at the Hummingbird Inn back in June 2014. We found it online and knew it was the perfect place for a romantic and special occasion kinda weekend. Fast forward ten years later and here we are, back at the Hummingbird Inn celebrating our 10 year engagement anniversary. In the past ten years, we have traveled far and wide, to hotels, restaurants, national parks and overseas. We had no idea what to expect about the Hummingbird Inn after being to so many places since than. Once we arrived, the Hummingbird Inn was not only just as romantic as we remember, but even better than we remember. There is just something about this place that is so serene and peaceful; the details that go into every room and feature are spectacular. This by far is the best place to rekindle the fire with that special someone. As for the location, the inn is located in a small secluded mountain town with a nearby train that passes by once a day, which added to the quaint romantic atmosphere. You can easily explore the Shenandoah and come back to enjoy a nice bottle of wine on the deck or their newly designed gazebo, built by the owners themselves. The jetted tub in the Alleghany room is still one of the nicest tubs that we have ever had. The new owners, Sandra and Jeff, have done an amazing job at maintaining and adding to this beautiful bed and breakfast. Sandra, with a hospitality background, is a very bubbly, friendly and gracious host, giving you a list of things to do in the area. Jeff, with a carpentry background, maintains everything beautifully. Each of their breakfasts were delicious and super accommodating in terms of dietary restrictions. For instance, I wanted plant based meat instead of real meat and they accommodated that request. They even acknowledged our anniversary by giving us some complimentary soap that they sold exclusively at the inn. In addition to soap, they also provide the purchase of their linens, some of the best linens that you will ever experience. We are very thankful to have returned to our little piece of heaven after all these years. Thanks to Sandra and Jeff, our piece of romantic paradise still exists to this day and has many years to go. Fantastic place to stay when visiting this beautiful area. We were hiking and brought our lab along. We were given the "dog room" which had its own door to the outside. The old house is beautifully appointed and so tasteful. Hosts Sandra and Jeff super friendly and thoughtful. The breakfasts were outstanding, really you couldn't do better in a 5 star restaurant. Breakfast at 9 but coffee available earlier. Home made brownies and muffins in the afternoon, coffee and tea always available. A frige stocked with water and soft drinks. Bathroom stocked with nice toiletries and slippers and bathrobes. Dog dishes and mats for the pooch. The lawn and planting are so beautiful. Perfect for enjoying coffee. The whole house is open for your use (but dog must stay in room). There's TV, DVDs, books to share. You can only get Verizon cell service unfortunately. My wife and I have a tradition of celebrating our wedding anniversary at a different B&B each year. This April marked 23 years for us... and we both agree that the Hummingbird was the PERFECT spot for us! We are neat freaks, and the cleanliness of the entire space was exceptional. The plentiful outdoor lounging spots (especially the gazebo by the creek) made our weekend trip truly relaxing. Breakfast was amazing & the service provided by Sandra was top notch. Our visit to the Hummingbird Inn was one of our all-time best B&B experiences. Sandra and Jeff are outstanding hosts and provided just the right mix of hands-on and hands-off time. The Inn itself is immaculate and has a wonderful vibe. It's extremely comfortable and the historical aspects are cool as all get out. We stayed in the Eleanor (Roosevelt) Room and it was perfect. Even the occasional train traffic was charming, at least for me, because it brought back childhood memories. The breakfasts were simply EPIC and I can't say enough good things about them... and one things for sure, you certainly don't get up from the table bored or hungry. My wife surprised me with a stay at the Hummingbird Inn for my birthday this week and it was such a delight! It was exactly what the Dr ordered, so relaxing and a great opportunity to unplug and enjoy one another! We stayed in the Serenity Cabin just next door to the main house and it was simply beautiful! She gave us great recommendations on things to see, what beautiful scenic roads to drive down and great restaurants to try out! We left wishing we had stayed longer! Absolutely a wonderful get away place to relax and unwind!

Our Babymoon spent in the Allehgany room was absolutely delightful! We were treated simultaneously as royalty and long time friends. The room was exceptionally beautiful and elegant. The jacuzzi tub was worth the cross country flight all by itself! After the first night of travel-fatigued stumbling across the creaky wood floors, we got used to it and found it part of the appeal. Breakfast each morning was delicious and once again we felt spoiled by the care put into preparing our food. The Babymoon package added to our enjoyment! The chocolate dipped fruit and sparkling cider was a special treat, that I got to enjoy while IN the tub! The massages by Lindy were thorough and relaxing. The carriage ride in Lexington was such a fun treat, followed by a delicious dinner at Haywood's. I was absolutely touched by the gifts for baby that Sandra and Jeff wrapped and had in our room. I can't wait to share them with our baby! The time we spent in the "Den" watching a movie and enjoying the rain with a cozy fire was just perfect for us home bodies. And being welcomed to play the piano and sing to our hearts' content was fun. I expected the trains to be a disruption to the peace but they only added to the ambiance and didn't wake us up once in the night. We will never forget our exceptional stay, nor our wonderful hosts! I've been meaning to review this cute B&B for a while (better late than never)! March of last year, I took advantage of a wicked-awesome LivingSocial deal! For $241 (normally $483), you got: a two-night stay for two, breakfast for two every morning, wine and cheese hors D'oeuvres, $20 gift voucher to the Rockbridge Vineyard, 2 tickets to a performance at the Blackfriars Playhouse, and $7 for the Split Banana ice cream and gelato shop. So folks, be on the look-out for more dealios! My boyfriend and I adventured out this lovely B&B in August, arriving around 4:30pm. Unfortunately, we weren't offered the wine and cheese pairing (I'm guessing it was due to our tight schedule -- we had to get ready for our show at the Blackfriars Playhouse)! The innkeepers, Patty & Dan, were perfect examples of Southern hospitality! They were very sweet, super accommodating, and informative about stuff to do in the area! The only downer is that this B&B is kinda in the middle of nowhere, and everything is about 30-40 minutes away. So, make sure you're filled up on gas -- there's a gas station down the street, along with a sub-par burger joint. The atmosphere is laid-back and homey. The den was rustic and cozy, with a stone hearth, wooden floors, and a rifle mounted on the wall! The BF and I enjoyed a romantic evening on the roof deck, coated in bug-spray (that was nicely provided to us), sipping wine by candle-light and playing a board game in the warm, summer air, beneath the stars. The grounds were utterly beautiful! Sadly, we never saw any hummingbirds. Breakfast in the morning was great -- fruit, casseroles, hot coffee, a nice selection of teas, and a Keurig coffee-maker! My only complaint was the communal table. As much as I love making small-talk, it was a bit awkward the first morning since everyone had stayed the previous day and had already gotten to know each other -- which made for not much conversation that involved my BF and I. *crickets* The Eleanor room was lovely and magical -- so cool to stay in a room that Eleanor Roosevelt once was in! The amenities were sweet: king-sized bed with comfy linens, a snack basket (awesome-sauce), overhead fan, spacious double-shower, satellite radio, fluffy robes, toiletries, and a fireplace (sadly, it wasn't cold out enough to use). No TV's in the rooms though. My only complaints were the close proximity of the train tracks (train goes by a couple times at night and shakes the house), and the lack of notice in regards to them entering the room while you're out. They remade the bed (which was nice), but they didn't need to move some items around (ie. the Eleanor Roosevelt book was on a chair b/c I was reading it there, and it got moved back to under the nightstand -- why?). When I stay out-of-town, I usually prefer for no one to reenter the room because I don't like anyone touching any belongings (in the past, my Grandpa had his Harvard class ring stolen from a hotel by maid service). It would be nice if there were "Do Not Disturb" signs for the doors. read more

When it comes to the world of Bed and Breakfast, this place is awesome. Came here on the Babymoon package and our goal was to have a stress-free, relaxing weekend. This was accomplished - and then some. First off, let's get a few things out of the way. Tips to know before going here: 1. There is a train that will occasionally run by the house at random times. Which mean yes it can happen in the middle of the night. However, I was never bothered by it as we just slept in longer (here to relax, who cares if we sleep in?) 2. You'll only have cell phone reception if you have Verizon. I had no issues, but others did. They do have a wifi signal in the house and a laptop just in case you need to use it. 3. If coming from the south, as soon as you cross over the railroad tracks, turn left immediately onto the dirt road. If coming from the north, if you cross over the tracks... well, you've gone too far. 4. For me, I have meticulous back issues and the bed was slightly too clumpy for me. However, for my pregnant wife, she loved it. So just something to think about when choosing room/bed combination. With that out of the way I highly recommend this place and here's why: SERVICE. Patty (unfortunately, her husband Dan just had surgery) was incredible. It all started with our arrival. Upon arriving she was quick to show us around and give a little history about the house. After a long drive this opener felt very inviting and prepared us for the glorious, relaxing weekend that we were hoping to have. Other than the website being very informative, Patty had a bunch of papers, pamphlets, etc. available that were both generic (stuff you find everywhere) and exceptionally specific (print outs of weekend events, etc) of things to do within the area. I was rather impressed as there were things that I missed out on and was glad to see that we weren't going to be shy on things to do. Continuing on service, what sets this place a part from others is the level of detail that they go through in order to accommodate you. Simple examples would be the always ready Keurig and Hot water with an ensemble of pods and bags, citronella candles along with sprays on the tables outside, fragrance packs for the whirlpool, ear plugs for the train if it bothers you, lip balm, and they even give you the soft toilet paper (yes that's a big deal). The details were endless to be honest. To top it off with my "Babymoon" package, we also received a nice present for our upcoming daughter, carriage ride coupons for Lexington, $50.00 credit for restaurants, a welcome card, sparkling cider for us combined with chocolate strawberries and finally two massages (which were fantastic btw). All of this was scheduled how ever I wanted and they were very easy to work with via email (preferred). My wife was ecstatic and overall and very pleased with how the events turned out. The house itself is very rustic in nature. From the original 1700's framework to the more recent furniture additions and room add-ons, the house was definitely designed for allowing yourself to "decompress". If you get a chance, visit the wrap around balcony which hosts several hummingbird feeders. If you stay still, they'll come exceptionally close to you while feeding off the feeders; just a fun thing to do in the morning if you wake up early like me. If you browse to the back of the house, there's a creek and another patio area where you can setup a fire in a firepit if you so choose. With breakfast the food was good. I saw a comment where someone said that breakfast was very tiny. Granted, it's not your "buffet-style" of breakfast, it is very healthy as it comes with fruit, a protein, and some carbs - a very well rounded meal. To quantify how much food you get, it's "just enough". Breakfast is enough food to satisfy you and not make you feel sluggish post-meal. Overall, a very wonderful experience and I wouldn't hesitate to come back and hopefully visit them again for an exceptionally relaxing and thoughtful experience. Husband and wife owned B&B, both extremely friendly and helpful people. They were very attentive and definitely catered to any special things that we asked to have on hand for our stay (ie - birthday cake, choc. covered strawberries, wine etc). The room was very clean and well kept. They had cookies out in the afternoon, which was a very nice touch and a small fridge stocked with bottled water and sodas that you could help yourself to. They make the breakfast every morning, which was very good, but I think that for anyone picky - they wouldnt have enjoyed it as it was definitely not just normal eggs and biscuits etc. I really like everything that was made, this is just a cautionary statement. The location is about a 30 mintue drive to Staunton and we went to several wineries and into Staunton while we were there. We stayed in the cabin, not the main house. The delightful owners have thought of everything -- beautiful linens and robes, upscale amenities, lovely furnishings and small touches abound. Kitchen is well stocked with glassware, dishes, silverware, and cooking ware, a microwave, a kettle and a stocked keurig machine. Even paper towels and dish cloths! Mini fridge stored all of the food we brought with us. Main house has 2 nice common rooms (one with a wood burning fireplace and tons of dvds) plus a fairly large dining area. We had breakfast in bed every morning. Breakfasts are delicious! Some of the best bed and breakfast food we've had. Again extra small touches made breakfast even better. Two adorable small poodles live on the property. We saw them only twice but they sure are cute and friendly. Plenty of parking. Verizon cell service worked great. Our family met at the Hummingbird over the Thanksgiving holiday. There were nine of us plus three dogs. I had picked the inn based on the reviews I found online, their website, the fact that they are dog friendly and the location was the midway point for those of us traveling for the holiday. Our choice couldn't have been better. The house itself has a great history, I don't mind the proximity to the railroad as that is part of the experience and the historical significance of the house and the town's attempt at greatness during the height of its Iron ore production. I read that in one of the many books available in the house, very interesting stuff. Patty and Dan are wonderful! You immediately feel like you are home with old friends (That can cook!). We enjoyed Thanksgiving Dinner at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton, very yummy and more than you could possibly eat. Upon our return we were soon engrossed in football and board games in the den. The nine of us and another family of four that was also staying at the inn for the holiday. Wonderful folks that we hope to see again someday! Breakfasts were delicious as was the dessert spread we were presented with late in the afternoon on Thanksgiving after a few naps had been had and prior to the Patriots football game :) Anything from cup cakes to pumpkin pie to chocolate bread pudding to one pie creation with salted caramel and pretzels that I can't recall the name of but was soon addicted to! My husband and I visited The Hummingbird Inn for a long weekend and booked the inn's babymoon package. We loved the room we stayed in, and I really appreciated the large jet tub. We went on hikes, but since at 7.5 months pregnant I was a little slower than normal, Sandra was able to suggest some challenging, but not super difficult routes for us to take. She also recommended some sights around town that I think we would not have included on our agenda without her recommendation and I was so glad that we did. We also enjoyed having dinner in the gazebo by the river one night. Morning coffee on the deck was also lovely. Sandra and her husband were a pleasure to chat with. The two really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. And, the breakfasts were really excellent. I think probably better than most restaurants. The inn itself is beautiful, and hiking is fairly accessible with a car. As most have pointed out, it is near the train tracks and our room faced the train, but we were not bothered by it. My husband and I just got home from our lovely stay at the Hummingbird Inn this Labor Day weekend. We celebrated our anniversary and babymoon/my birthday and Sandra & Jeff made us feel super special the whole weekend! First of all, Sandra has got to be the sweetest woman I've ever met. You can tell that her heart is pure gold. The location of the Inn was kind of a surprise to us. We didn't realize just how rural of a location it was in. Absolutely beautiful, but not a whole lot of civilization around! No cell service, which we weren't anticipating but it ended up being a blessing in disguise to unplug a bit. There are train tracks right by the property so if you're a light sleeper, it might be annoying to you. We were so relaxed, we slept right through the train noises. The Inn is about 25-30 minutes from fun things to do (Jefferson Warm Springs, Lexington, etc.). We didn't mind the drive at all, even in the rain and fog. We stayed in the new Serenity Cabin and it was fantastic. Jeff built it himself. We wished we could've used the private fire pit but it was raining pretty much our whole stay. We did get to enjoy the fire place in the Inn though and socialize with the other guests while we were at it. One of the highlights for me was the prenatal massage in the cabin. Lindy was the therapist and she was amazing. Highly recommend! Breakfast was delicious both mornings. Locally sourced food. My favorite was the peach parfait. And there were baked goods available everyday--yum! Definitely come here to get away, chill and meet kind people!! read more

The Mister and I don't get away very often these days, so when we saw a great valued Living Social Escape, we decided to snatch it up. With B&Bs, you never really know exactly what you're going to get since they all have such unique personalities; but I was very excited to pull up to Hummingbird Inn which is a beautiful home with rooms dating from the 1700 & 1800s. A former trading post turned B&B. Here's the skinny... ACCOMMODATIONS They are dog-friendly, with one room that's on the ground level and has fun little details like dog bowls and books, and even dog charms on the keychain. Speaking of details, Dan and Patty have thought of lots of little things. I loved that our desk had pre-stamped postcards for us to send home to family. There are snacks in the room, a corkscrew, even a soft pillow and firm pillow each. We got to see two of the upstairs rooms, and all are well-appointed, large enough to have a bit of a sitting area & their own bathroom. Upstairs there's a back terrace to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the view to the fairly large landscaped yard. The sheets are cozy. The game room has books, board games, and a TV; but there's also a sun-room and a den for reading. Our bathroom was quite small (shower only big enough for one), but served its purpose. Common refrigerators are available for your Nalgenes/wine bottles/etc. Wi-fi, which is awesome, especially since AT&T gets no reception. And while it's not uber-chic (we had foil packets of body soap samples, stiff towels, and one-ply toilet paper), it's quite comfortable and has charming personality. By the way, no central AC or AC units here. The house seems to keep cooler than the outdoor temp; but I probably wouldn't want to give it a try in July [UPDATE: they have individual AC units that they roll out when temps hit ~90!] DINING Breakfast was two courses -- fruit (mandarins and banana, garnished with mint) and a "Mexican breakfast" of quiche with chilies, sour cream and a mango salsa; a sausage patty; a biscuit; and fried potatoes. Basic but good! The jam I especially enjoyed. They keep coffee and tea on hand, as well as soft drinks and water, and little bite-sized desserts. LOCATION It's "centrally" located, meaning it's about 30-40 minutes from a few towns you'll probably want to check out (there's pretty much nothing in Goshen). So this is nice if you want to get to Staunton, Lexington, Bunea Vista. It's also right beside a train track... like *right* beside it. When the train goes by (we heard it maybe 3x during the night), the house actually shakes! INN-KEEPERS Dan and Pattie are SO nice. Really friendly, easy to talk to, and eager to help whether it be to suggest a restaurant or help give driving directions. They're the perfect kind of B&B owners, who really *do* make you feel at home. read more

My husband and I had an amazingly wonderful stay at the Hummingbird Inn's cabin celebrating our 20th anniversary. We always look forward to grabbing some time to ourselves whenever possible and getting away for a night, weekend, or longer but this was our first experience at Hummingbird. Of all the favorite places we've stayed we have to say that this place probably surpasses them all in attention to details! They do a spectacular job of anticipating every potential need. There truly is very little at all that I would touch to change anything about it, it is such perfection. The only thing I could possibly think to add would be an iron and maybe swap the night stands with ones with drawers or a small cabinet with drawers to unpack clothes--you can hang up a few in the closet though. Regardless, we used the two luggage racks available (having 2 was a nice touch!) The cabin is perfectly appointed and tastefully, comfortably modernized sparing nothing. It is as comfortable as it is lovely with a wonderfully comfortable bed, rain shower, peaceful sounds of the water from the creek outside the balcony, fluffy robes and 5 star breakfasts! From impeccable touches like the wonderful hand lotion, make up remover, variety of coffees including decaf, to an umbrella, dimmer switches on almost every light and other details I'll leave for you to explore, it is truly a gem and none of these touches would be possible without Sandra and Jeff! They are wonderfully personable, incredibly creative and imaginative, with attention to detail and old school work ethic who work tirelessly together as a team to produce something for others that's simply magical--an experience, a moment, memories, and an unforgettable place called Hummingbird Inn. read more

The only thing that could trump the serenity of this fine establishment are the hosts that run the place. Both Sandra and Jeff are very gracious, warm, and accommodating. Its easy to see that they pour their heart and sole into their home. On our most recent trip my wife and I stayed in the Cabin built by Jeff in 2016. It is a fabulously decorated and well furnished place complete with babbling brook outside the back door with deck. The craftsmanship is remarkable with a great attention to detail. AC is refreshing and cool. I found myself getting up early simply to enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking the creek. We have boys that work at the neighboring Goshen Scout Reservation and its an easy 7 minute drive to the front gate (much better than the long drive to Lexington). The Inn is a real treat and very convenient. And while others may feel the trains a nuisance, we found them quite exciting and looked forward to every one that past our front windows. Raising three boys we became avid rail fans. Sandra and Jeff are both very kind and knowledgable of the area. Its obvious that Sandra has a yearning to learn much more as she had many questions about our Scout Reservation. She is very detail oriented. We weren't informed there was train tracks 50 feet from the inn where empty coals cars are moved in the middle of the night - several times. Not only did the noise make sleeping impossible but the bed shook each time the train went by- felt like we were doing a "I live Lucy" revival. The window air conditioner was inadequate. The breakfast was just ok. My husband felt there wasn't enough food and no offers made by the hosts of 2nds to anyone. Once was enough. read more

When we started on our quest for a place to have our late family Christmas celebration, the criteria was a place to bring the dog. Many places in the area would not accommodate our girl. I'd really like to RECOMMEND this B&B. Not only is the house beautiful, the grounds lovely, but the inn keepers are so kind. Sandra and her husband have been in charge for less than a full year but are true PROs!! We were greeted with smiles and genuine kindness. My dad brought his dog and we had our Christmas celebration in the family room. We even had a fire built just for 'us'. BTW, this was in the original house, built in the 1700's. Staying in the Roosevelt Room was fun. I do hope some of Eleanor's good travel mojo rubbed off on me. Breakfast the next day was delicious; they really do cook like that every day. (Highly recommend the SW Egg Bake!) The sheets were soft, rooms pristine, the water warm, fire bright, and hospitality sincere. It was only capped off by the train that went by. This made my husband VERY happy. Perfect weekend away, well worth the money, nice drive to get there... I mean, we passed the entrance to the National Forest. What more can I say? My only wish is that we would have been there in the spring or fall. I would have LOVED to have sat on the veranda. It's lovely even in the winter. My husband and I talked about how we thought it would be awesome for our car club to rent out the house for the weekend. It would be REALLY neat! oh! I recommend calling versus online booking; or calling after booking. It just helps set the stage. Sandra asked wonderful questions and will accommodate your dietary issues. My husband and I spent our mini honeymoon at the Hummingbird Inn and had a wonderful time! We bought a groupon deal that included a two night's stay, a delicious bottle of moscato wine, locally made chocolates, and cheese and crackers. Patty was a very welcoming and friendly host who entertained us with stories of her time as an innkeeper. She even left us a card in our room congratulating us on our marriage. Both breakfasts she made us were fantastic! There were also cookies in the afternoon, pastries in the morning, a Keurig machine and a fridge stocked with water and sodas for us to help ourselves too. We stayed in the Robinson room which was located upstairs and had a private entrance to the deck. The room was spacious and the bathroom (connected to the room via a private hallway) was very modern. There was no TV but that was perfectly fine with us! They do have free WiFi for those who need to stay connected. The best part about the room was the comfy sheets! We loved them so much that we ended up buying a set to have at our house. The house is located right off the railroad tracks but neither my husband nor I had an issue sleeping. We enjoyed our time sitting out on the deck drinking our bottle of wine and playing board games that the innkeepers provided. Overall, it was a great deal and a wonderful romantic getaway and we would definitely return again (with our without the groupon!) read more

We took advantage of the LivingSocial escape package for a Memorial Day getaway and were so thrilled with our experience. The inn was comfy and cozy, lots of places to relax alone or interact with other guests. Part of our package included wine and cheese, which Patty was sweet enough to serve us on the back patio overlooking the creek. The breakfasts were delicious, and they were so wonderful about accommodating my gluten-free needs (they asked about food allergies when we made the reservation, and then again upon arrival) and even had some gluten free cookies placed in the room! The guest rooms were very nicely appointed (best sleep I've had in ages!) with wonderful little details like wine glasses and a corkscrew, snacks, and pre-stamped post cards! The inn has wifi and lots of games and movies for entertainment. Overall wonderful scenery and a great place to relax and recharge. read more

My husband, dog and I just got back from a wonderful two nights at the inn. The hosts were so accommodating--not just to our dog but to my special dietary needs. I have never felt so included with respect to food and snacks! Breakfast is at 9, which I was a little worried about as I tend to get up and want to eat earlier, but each day there were fresh baked pastries, fresh fruit, and coffee/tea (and an ample supply of chocolate) ready early, as well as snacks left for us in our rooms. In the evening, chocolate, nuts, pastries and coffee/tea were available for snacks. The hosts struck a great balance of being warm and friendly but also leaving us to do our own thing. In addition to being close to the state park and great hiking, it's just over an hour from the national park. If we are back in the area, we hope to stay here again! read more

We just spent a lovely and relaxing weekend with Sandra and Jeff - great innkeepers of the Hummingbird Inn about 30 minutes outside of Lexington, VA. We stayed in the sole ground floor room - the only dog friendly room in the place with its own private patio which made it easy to take our pups outside for walks in the large green backyard next to Mill Creek. The inn is simply but beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, plush linens, and warm and inviting common areas. Breakfast both mornings was incredibly delicious. When you let them know ahead of time when you make your reservation, Sandra and Jeff will accommodate dietary restrictions and special needs. There are all sorts of activities and attractions nearby in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and excellent restaurants in local towns to suit every taste. Do be forewarned: in its day, Goshen was a railroad town, and the CSX rails still carry traffic right outside the inn. We did hear a train or two run by during the night, then rolled over and went right back to sleep. The trains were infrequent and added to the sense of history in this home that was originally built in 1853 and once hosted Eleanor Roosevelt in 1935. Our stay was relaxing and wonderful! Our room was very clean and well appointed with nice linens, a cozy sitting area with two comfortable chairs and a whirlpool tub in the bathroom. Our favorite area of the property was the porch beside the babbling brook. The hot breakfast is gourmet and more than enough to fill you up. The Inn Keepers, Sandra & Jeff, are gracious and very helpful. Not too far from the property is the town of Lexington with many dining and shopping options. A few trains did pass by while we stayed, but we found this to be part of the charm of the area. A great B&B! read more

We had a fantastic time on our "babymoon" at The Hummingbird Inn. Sandra and Jeff were so friendly and attentive-- we had everything just how we liked it. The breakfasts were creative and delicious, the room and bathroom extremely comfortable (we were in the Alleghany), and we loved curling up with cookies and milk in the cozy 18th-century den by the fire (which Jeff expertly built for us). We enjoyed massages and treats in our room (part of the babymoon package) and had some great dinners out in Lexington. Highly recommended! read more
