    Living life with bad vision (-9 Right/-6 Left) isn't ideal but was my normal for the past 20 years. I had considered LASIK for a long time and finally took the plunge after an eye infection, years of uncomfortable (and expensive) contacts and reminders from my optometrist that my prescription was close to being too bad for LASIK. I am so glad to have finally trusted my doctors (thanks Dr. Doherty!) to repair my eyes. The first step in the process is to come in for an initial consultation to see if you would be a good candidate for LASIK. Using 3D mapping, they can assess the health of your eyes. Afterwards, the surgical reps advise on financial information (payment plans through CareCredit are available). The entire process can feel a bit rushed as they want to schedule you immediately for another pre-operative appointment and then surgery, but don't be afraid to ask for more time. I did, as I needed time to explore financing options and also wanted to compare PRK vs. LASIK. Between appointments, expect to wear your glasses and not your contacts since your eyes need time to adjust to their natural shape before surgery. There were some logistical hiccups throughout the entire 3 week experience such as my primary doctor no longer being available due to early maternity leave and having to move surgical locations on the day of my actual surgery, but nothing overshadowed the results I got. Tip: LASIK can be a hefty financial investment. Depending on the insurance provider you have, the costs can vary. Superior Vision offers a heavily discounted rate if you book your LASIK through QualSight with a Qualsight approved surgeon. I highly recommend looking into this as I saved over $1000 by doing so. For the first time since second grade, I'm able to see things from a distance. I have pretty dry eyes and see halos at night, but that's normal as it can take up to 6 months to fully heal and for your vision to stabilize. If your full-time work requires extensive computer usage, expect tired/dry eyes by the end of the day and use hydrating drops 24/7. I had to get prescription eye drops to reduce the dryness. I am so happy to finally SEE without contacts or glasses and to be able to wake up in the morning and see clearly.     You should go anywhere else…read more I had an exam and ordered new glasses here on March 2nd. At the time, they made me sign a waiver saying I couldn't get a refund on my glasses so that should have tipped me off but I've had great experiences with this office when it was in Goodlettsville and went ahead and signed the form. The glasses I picked out were very tight on my face and I asked if they would be able to adjust them to fit once they came back and was told they could. The glasses were very tight when they came in and they adjusted them somewhat but they were still too tight. I was told they would loosen up with wearing so I left. A few weeks later, the right lense popped out when I picked them up to clean them. I took them back and they put the lense back in. I also told them they were still way too tight and hurt to wear. The guy who helped place the order when I picked these frames out took them to adjust them several times but they were still too tight along the side of my face/head. The last time he brought them out to me, the earpieces were sticking out straight from my head at an angle and did not curve back toward my ears. He said that was the best he could do and if he kept going they would just be sticking out from my head which they already were. I told him that didn't look good and asked if they could be curved liked my old glasses were and even showed those to him. He said no so I asked him to just put them back the way they were to begin with and I'd try to just wear them. This week, I took my glasses off one day before a shower and the other lense popped out. I have also been noticing that people at a short distance were incredibly blurry and I couldn't even tell if they were a man or a woman. I took the glasses back today (May 2nd) and they put the lense back in and eventually told me they couldn't adjust the glasses to fit my face and agreed that the lenses are probably popping out because they are too tight. They said they could retest my eyes to see if my prescription was off but there was nothing they could do about the frames because it had been over 30 days since I got them. I told him I wasn't going to try to keep wearing glasses that didn't fit (especially if the lenses will keep popping out) and I was done. He said okay. Didn't offer a partial refund/discount on another pair of frames or anything. So, I left without the glasses because I can't wear them and they got $488.96 out of me for a pair of glasses I wore for about two months that hurt my face and I couldn't see well out of. I've learned my lesson and will never go back. I also hate that I lost so much money but I wouldn't have worn those glasses. They dug into the side of my head and hurt so much. They could have told me the glasses couldn't be adjusted to fit me in plenty of time for me to pick another pair of frames but they didn't. I hope no one else has to deal with anything like this. Please do yourself a favor and go anywhere other than here. This is a rip off and they should be ashamed of keeping almost $500.00 because someone can't wear the glasses that they should have known wouldn't work. I would think they should be able to tell when frames aren't going to work because of the size of someone's head and advise them they should maybe pick a different frame. I could have avoided so much time and trouble and not lost a large amount of money.

    We took our son to Dr. Judd for an exam. We were told the best route to go was Vision Shaping…read moreTreatment (VST), which consists of wearing special contacts at night to help correct vision and allows the patient to go without contacts or glasses the next day. Even though this cost well over $1,000 we thought this was a great solution so our son would not have to wear glasses everyday. At first, the VST was wonderful and we were happy with the results. The contacts, however, are hard and break easily. After breaking a few ($125 to replace each time), Dr. Judd recommended a different material that would be less brittle. My son starting having severe eye irritation. When we finally were able to see Dr. Judd (a whole other story), he was not helpful and referred us to our Pediatrician. The Pediatrician told us it was an irritant (contact) causing the issue. This continued for months with little help offered from Judd. When we would call his office we would be told he was busy and could not talk. When my son's eye was so bad that he could not go to school my wife wanted Judd to see his eye in this state so he could better diagnose the condition. When she stopped by the office she was told Judd was too busy to step out and see him. My wife offered to wait and they refused her and my son. What kind of a "Doctor" does that? Other than telling us to try a few different contact solutions and "give a few weeks" we were left on our own. Finally, we asked if we could go back to the original contact. Even though it was brittle, at least it worked without severe irritation. We were told he would try a different material for the contact. Well, if it was not the contact initially (only offered different contact solutions) why was this the magic fix this time. We were told the new contacts would be red and would arrive shortly. When the contacts arrived they were green (not red) and one was much smaller than the other. My son tried to put them in but the smaller one was "floating" around and did not seem right. We immediately called the office only to be told that Judd was too busy (again) to see us. When we questioned if we got the wrong contact we were told no and to keep trying it for a few weeks (how dare we ask if they made a mistake!?). Why would a "Doctor" not agree to see us and verify if there was a mistake made? My wife repeatedly asked to come in and was declined by the office help each time (keep in mind that Judd was always too busy to even return a call....always). The only advice we got was too keep trying for few weeks and see how it goes. We finally had enough and asked that if we could not see Judd we were going to have to look for a new Doctor because it was not fair to our son. They again declined to put Judd on the phone. My wife said that we would not be back if Judd would not respond. We got a voicemail later in the day from the office (not from Judd) stating that Judd was "releasing" us from his care. Funny how he "released" us after he was fired! Also, to add insult to injury, my son's school performed the annual eye exams last week. His prescription glasses he has been wearing from Judd evidently were not correct either. HE FAILED HIS EYE EXAM WHILE WEARING HIS GLASSES FROM THIS OFFICE!!!! Bottom line here. This "Doctor" was only interested in selling us a very expensive "solution" and moving on. Once he had his money he would not agree to take calls or even see us on occasion. He definitely did not show compassion or empathy to an 11 year old in serious pain, or worry about his well-being on several occasions. If he did he would not have consistently deferred to his office help to pass along the "try it for a few weeks" diagnosis. Stay away from this office and these disingenuous/insincere people. Once they get your money you are only an inconvenience to them. Period.

    Unfortunately I have to be honest here. Dr Judd is a wonderful eye doctor. He is a nice guy and he…read moreis very thorough. He explains things so they are easy to understand. However, his office staff needs to get it together. They are severely lacking in customer service skills and, at times, in common sense. For example: I get a text message in the middle of my work day asking me to call them and confirm my appointment for tomorrow morning. This means I have to interrupt my very busy work day to call and say I will be there. Every other doctor's office calls me to confirm and leaves a voicemail to say if I need to reschedule to call them back, otherwise they will see me at my scheduled appointment time. This way I do not have to stop what I am doing and call and waste my time. I value my time a lot, as I am very busy. To top it off, when I called, the person who answered the phone sounded like she had just woken up and I couldn't understand anything she was saying! I could not even hear her name! There have been several little instances like this in the past, some more severe than others. My point: Customer service has always been very important to me anywhere I go, so I would love to see an improvement here. Otherwise I may be looking for someone different in the future. Sorry Dr Judd, but your staff completes the experience in your office. It needs to be a good experience all around.
