Oak Park in the beautiful city of Stockton
    Vincent D.

I've been coming to Oak Park since about 1998. This park will always have a special place in my heart. As a single father raising my eldest Princess by myself, I would come here all the time with her, For my daughter's first four years of her life. It was her and I. We would spend countless hours playing in the playground and making beautiful memories. Oak park has an ice arena, tennis courts, basketball court baseball diamonds, and a swimming pool as well. On the left side of the park, is a playground and on the right side is another playground. As the years went on, I was blessed with two more children. I would and still bring them here. In a way, this park has become a part of my life. When I'm feeling down, I come here to Oak Park and sit and remember all the good times I had here. At this point in my life it's all about making wonderful memories and cherishing every moment I have with my three children. Until my last breath on earth, Oak Park will always be apart of me. My family and I stopped at Oak Park on the way out to Arnold to stretch our legs. It was a gorgeous day and we was impressed by the amount of nicely manicured grass and the number of trees around the playground. There were a few homeless in the park, but we didn't interact with them. The playground was fine for the kids, but there was some trash lying around.

Still a decent park, even with the way the City of Stockton leaders have screwed up most of the city services and the city it self

American Legion Park is probably the iconic park of Stockton. I'm not saying it's the best park,…read morebut it is the park that most resembles "old" Stockton in that the entire city used to congregate here for the 4th of July decades ago. First, Stockton wasn't always on the wrong side of a population 350k or more. I remember when we were about half that in the early 80's. This park was the premiere location to hang out and just relax. There really isn't much for facilities here. There is basketball, a kids playground and that's about it. The grassy bank protecting the 'hood from flooding is kinda cool because it provides an interesting pathway around the park and the Smith Canal. There are some concrete tables and benches if you want to throw a quick BBQ or just share some beers during COVID. You can fly a drone and get some great pics of Stockton from about 500 feet. You can throw a frisbee and lose in said Canal. You can talk a dog for a nice walk around and double back or shoot all the way to Pershing and make a loop. In short, this isn't the largest, most beautiful, or even the best facilites, but the location matters and this place used to the heart of Stockton when times were a lot better (kid of the 80's, greatest decade ever)!

I visited this park on mother's day. They do have lots of green grass area, a lake or the pond ...I don't know if that's the body of water from the delta. Anyway, it's a cool spot to take the family to, if you don't want to go to the sometimes overcrowded Victory Park down the street.

The park has plenty of open green space, mature trees, and shaded pathways that make it a pretty easy walk even on warmer summer days like today. It has a really chill vibe and there is usually a good mix of people and families hanging out in and enjoying the space. There's a lot of community in this area and it definitely shows at the park. It's been a while since we've visited, and this is my first time here since they reopened the pool last year. It was incredibly busy in that area of the park so we made sure to wander over toward the rose garden where it was much quieter. The roses are in bloom and I took a cute photo of my dog in front of them this afternoon. Even though there were a lot of people at the pool area, the rest of the park had plenty of open space. It can definitely get crowded on the weekends or when there are big events, but typically you can find parking on the street all around the park or in the adjacent neighborhood. Just a few steps away. I did also notice the new self-cleaning restrooms that they installed at the park as we were walking by. You can see the digital displays from the sidewalk, but I did not need to use the restroom so I didn't check them out for myself. It's a very interesting concept however and I applaud the city for doing their part to try to create clean, safe spaces for the community.

Hello, we played your course yesterday 3/23/25 and I have tell you it was an absolute disaster!…read moreWhen we first arrived there were no power carts available for us making our tee time late while we sat and waiting for one to come off the 18th green. While waiting we decided to hit range balls. Could we, NOPE. Range closes at noon on Sundays. JOKE. We finally got a cart and tee'd off. The play was painstakingly slow and we made it 7 holes before our cart died and we had to call and have another brought out. This took nearly 30 minutes to accomplish. We talked to the young kids running the place this day and I told them that they need to talk to their management and get this place in order. Their response, we don't have any management. Clearly obvious from what occurred! We played out the front side and left as the pace was so slow and there was no marshal to help push groups. The group in front of us were playing and hitting like 3 balls off every tee. Ever since you all upped your prices to a ridiculous amount this place has gone downhill. I now know why. We will NOT be coming back out here again and I am sharing this experience and encouraging others to place elsewhere all over social media. I hate to see a course close (city) or not get play but this place clearly needs attention and it is not getting it!

There are a good handful of rental spots when it comes to table areas. There are a lot of geese and ducks so be careful where you step throughout your visit. There is some permitted fishing with license as an option. I thought that certain areas walking through the trails could have been a little bit more maintenance especially with trash, cans and benches to sit down on that are located throughout. They do not permit dogs to be on the trails, but throughout we notice that was ignored as there were a lot of dog markings left and not picked up by the owners. There are also a few playgrounds and restroom areas located throughout, as well as what look to be like a little hall that you could rent with a deck access. if you're ever interested in doing the trails, both of them together were just under 2 miles long. This location was very close to home so therefore convenient they have a nature center but it's only open on Saturdays and there's also a little informational booth located explaining a little more about the nature center. decent spot to have birthday parties or celebrations staged here. There's also an amphitheater that seats about 400.
