Firstly, the location is in the Rembrandt area and very nice and active area. We were seated just inside the restaurant, with a very comfortable table, seats and window. The ambiance is great with popular music playing and a very bustling staff that is very attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu is vast and includes a lot of great options including French favorites such as frog legs and snails. We started with an adventurous order of the frog legs and they were amazingly good and the sauce was amazing! We ordered a bit of family style including the Cote Beouf, French onion soup, baked potato, fries, vegetables, chicken, ribeye. It was the perfect amount for the five of us and left room for dessert, which we ordered as a brownie and we asked for a custom dessert of ofogato, or ice cream with espresso poured over, an Italian favorite of mine! Meanwhile my husband finished prior to me receiving mine. All they did was take my old steak and add the new sauce. Now the steak was completely overcooked. MEDIOCRE. No one came back to check. We asked for our check and were asked if we wanted to add a tip and at that point we explained our experience. The chef kindly accommodated my weird request to have polenta with my steak instead of fries and wow was I glad he did! The steak was good quality and served with a variety of veg. It could have done with a tad more seasoning or more of the red wine jus it came with, but overall, delightful. The polenta was amazing! It is fried, so no health points here but the crispy outside with a creamy centre - I think there was a hint of parmasan in there - was divine. Later in the meal, the chef got creative with dessert, giving me both white and dark chocolate cake. What more could a girl ask for? I'm glad I gave Oliver's a second chance. We had a great conversation with the manager Halpert after our meal and it's clear that Oliver's and Co. take customer service very seriously.
