The office management is in need of a major overall. Scheduled appointments for myself and son in October 2023. The day before April 2024 appointments Lofton Creek Smiles called at 4:39 pm for ins #. The office closed at 5 pm. The day of the appointment Lofton Creek Smiles calls at 8:30 am, I'm driving on 95 for skin Dr appointment. In my dermatologists office I pull up the # and call them at 9 am, which is when I find out they moved my appointment to 2 pm. How could they know I could make it?? They take my cigna #. 11:37 am Lofton Creek Smiles calls to say they're not accepting cigna but I can still come for a cleaning if I come at 2pm. I arrive 1:47pm, sign in. No one sees or speaks to me until 2:08 pm. A masked cheery person takes me to a room, them says she's gonna go get the X-ray supplies she needs. I say no x-rays you don't accept my insurance. She states cheerily then I can't give you a cleaning. I left. Why get a whole set of x-rays for $1,000 when we're not staying with a dentist office that is this messed up office. Of course we're going to find a dentist who takes our insurance. Who would stay with a dentist who doesn't take my insurance nor do they care about wasting my time Scheduling appointments, providing ins #, calling, sitting in a waiting room where all staff hides? Not one person in the office tried to help me OR even tell me the cos cost!!! These people are not customer friendly at all. Lofton Creek Smiles does not care about their patients' health!!! Stay Away!! If they did they would: 1. Ask for ins info at time of Scheduling 2. Provide online portal to submit paperwork after Scheduling to obtain insurance info 3. Tell prospective patients they dropped their dental insurance (if they ever accepted it) 3. Not change patients appointment time without asking - the day of!!! 4. Not present potential costs when they deny insurance before sitting in the chair. 5. Not act like it's an everyday occurrence when patients leave without treatment Run! The dentist is very nice and did a great job. But the receptionist/billing staff was terrible. Every time we came in they said we owed money from last time. Every time we'd were like oh, ok- and pay it. And then every time owe something new because "oh well I guess insurance didn't cover....". After two years of this for 2 different people on 2 completely different plans, we stopped going there. They were also really confused about what insurance providers they even accepted. Plus, you get likeone full set of xrays per year. If you come in early with a bad tooth, less than a couple weeks before your regular cleaning apt, they take an xray of the one bad tooth - which uses up your entire balance. Then you have to pay for a full set of xrays at your cleaning. These are common simple little details that staff should understand and explain to patients. So dentist was fine, but giving a 2 because we won't go back. It's not the money. It's the fact that they had no one who really understood billing at all. read more

Terrible service. I will not be going back. I called in for an appointment yesterday and they told me they had a cancellation for 9AM this morning. I showed up before 9AM. Other people came in after me. I was the last one in the lobby at 9:40AM and still had not been called back. What happened to my 9AM opening? How can you justify 40 minutes of waiting? How much longer would I have waited if I had stayed. Go to a place that values your time. read more

My son has one of the most intense dentist phobias I have ever witnessed. We're talking full on panic attacks. He desperately needed dental work but I knew finding someone with the patience to help him through it would be hard. I understand that. At the end of the day, a business is a business. Gotta keep the lights on! This office is phenomenal! They were very patient and considerate and worked with my son to get over his fears. We just left his final filling appointment and he did amazing! No gas and trusted the doc to be as gentle as she could. I can't rave enough about Dr. Porter. She is gentle kind and considerate. She's made a huge difference to my family and we appreciate her and her staff so very much! Worth it to add I live almost an hour away and happily drive all the way to Yulee to see her. read more

Go somewhere else if you actually care about your teeth and need more than cleaning. I had tooth pain in a very specific area and they insisted they see nothing wrong. I was then referred by them to an endodontist for route canal on the wrong tooth! I initially had an odd feeling about the dentist (deceptive vibe) and after the referral for work on the wrong tooth I decided to see a different dentist. Sure enough, that tooth has an obvious crack in it and I need a crown. I really hate to leave a bad review for anyone but knowing the numbers of the teeth is a very basic thing and if they can't get that right, or intentionally get it wrong, neither is good. read more

I would not give the one star if I didn't have to, to get the review started. They estimate that a procedure will be much lower than they ever intend on charging you. Then they use things that no other dentist uses. We called our insurance to ask why it was so expensive. Our insurance told us because they do not allow for such an outdated procedure. My daughter had 4 teeth extracted at the same time. Very painful! Of course she's going to cry! They tried to charge me $30 for "behavioral management", because they had to show her how to act while getting her teeth pulled. UMMMM...NOO!!!! I can't even begin to explain the audacity of the one at the front desk! I will never return to that dentist & I surely do not recommend it! As for Dr. Porter, meh! read more

I have visited Lofton Creek Smiles a number of times now and could not recommend them more highly. Not only has their staff been exceptionally friendly and accommodating, but I felt completely certain that they were putting my needs as a patient above their needs as a business. Let me explain: I recently went in to have a wisdom tooth removed - my first time having one pulled. Virtually everyone else that I've seen who has had them pulled with other dentists has had substantial pain and has looked like a chipmunk for days afterward. I was expecting the same and asked Dr. Porter if there was a way around it and she explained that that often occurs because other dentists tend to be overly rough because it is faster for them, but that she did not operate like that. I was a little doubtful, but I can honestly say now that my mouth has fully healed that I legitimately did not have a shred of pain nor any swelling whatsoever and could not be happier with my experience. If you're looking for any dental work, I truly could not recommend this dentist more highly. read more

We used to love this practice. Three out of four of my kids have been seen here and loved Dr. Porter. She took great care of our family. And then... her billing staff happened. My father took my oldest daughter in for some fillings. One tooth had been filled by Dr. Porter within the past 18 months so according to our insurance, it was covered under their guarantee policy. My children have two dental insurances and my policy did not cover the second attempt to charge them for the same tooth fill. So they proceeded to incorrectly charge my secondary insurance for said filling. Of course they paid for it bc they didn't know of the guarantee policy. I was then charged personally over $200 for this visit for two fillings. After months and months of run around with someone in her office who kept giving me different excuses as to why the charges were being charged, I finally had to call both insurance companies, take extensive notes on the claims and then call their office back to explain in detail what was wrong with their charges. I finally got my refund but we sadly are moving on from this practice. read more

Dr. Porter and the staff at Lofton Creek are far above and beyond anything I could have hoped for when searching for a dentist to handle the much needed work I had neglected for too long. First and foremost they are honest and fair with pricing and letting you know exactly what needs to be done to restore your mouth to a healthy and happy place. The dental work was OUTSTANDING with virtually no pain and the atmosphere is professional and relaxing making it all the more enjoyable to go to the dentist. Dr. Porter and her staff are honestly the best. I have been seeing her for quite some time and she makes everyone feel like family. All members of my household have been seen by her or her staff. She is great with children and adults. Dr. Porter is honest and concise about treatment and care. The office is clean and friendly. I rather drive 30 minutes to see her, than go anywhere else. Staff is kind. I wish they were more straight forward concerning the bill. I'm told it's a certain amount and pay it before I leave the office, then I receive notices in the mail that I own them money. Just be honest with me to begin with, I don't mind paying my bill. This comes off as shady to me. Another concern is there is usually only one person working at the front desk and they are really busy. I wanted to ask a question concerning services, but couldn't because there was no one there to ask. I'm looking at new dentists in the area due to these reasons. I thought I had found a great office for myself finally, but today I found out that I was wrong. Went for my 6 month cleaning and when I went to check out, was told this is my 3rd cleaning this year and would be out of pocket. I would be ok with that IF I had actually had 2 full cleanings. First visit they were so kind and made me feel comfortable. I hadn't had a cleaning in a few years due to a nightmare experience elsewhere. They decided to do my cleaning in 2 steps and I was just happy to be getting my health under control so I agreed. They did the scaling part, and scheduled me back for a polish and filling. My polish was done in 2 minutes 2nd visit. They asked me to give a review, so I did happily, got my first filling, paid and left. Went back for the rest over the next month and all was good. Today, I found out that they charged for both of my cleanings and paid out of pocket. I have called my insurance company and filed a grievance. When I called to cancel my future visits the receptionist thought my name was April, couldn't find me, then got incredibly rude when I informed her I would not be back since the polish that was part of my 1st cleaning was charged as a second cleaning. They are nice, but watch the charges if you choose to visit this practice. read more

Part of me doesn't want to write this review, because I don't want to share this amazing dentist with anyone . I am sitting here, practically in tears ready to cry. I had the most amazing experience with this Dentist office from start to finish. First off, I have ADHD and extreme anxiety, dentists literally scare the living daylights out of me, to the point that I cried for hours when I got a toothache I couldn't ignore. I asked in a local military group for dentist recommendations and Dr Porter was one of the dentists recommended. Since I had never had a female dentist before, I decided I would give her a shot. Have you ever been given that "Your a bad patient for not coming to the dentist sooner" guilt trip from a dental office??? Your not going to get that here. They looked at my mouth after not receiving dental care for 5 years and simply said "Well, we have some catching up to do, but we can do it and we will get you right up to date, it's ok momma, you were taking care of your family and now we are going to take care of you." That was absolutely the most amazing thing anyone could have said to me, and a true gift to hear. I explained that money was an issue for me, it truly is for most military families, and she was understanding and said she would prioritize the list and we would work with what we could when it comes to funds and what my insurance covers (military dental insurance is nearly nothing.) Dr Porter and her staff don't try to up-sell you on a bunch of services you don't need, they make sure your well informed on both the financing and the procedures as they come up and most importantly they don't make you feel like your being judged for maybe not having taken better care of yourself in the past. If your a mommy, Dr Porter is your dentist, she knows how to treat us as patients and as mommies just trying to survive this crazy life of being mommies. Oh and her dental hygienist is amazing! Irene gave me the best cleaning I have ever had and it didn't hurt at all! I love the How do I give 10 stars??? I'm not sure how to explain it, but I actually enjoyed my time in the office today while I got a root canal! As a patient I have no doubt that Dr. Porter thoroughly enjoys her career and it is reflected in her chair side manner. She is so positive, and encouraging! Her staff is absolutely top notch and I enjoyed having a short conversation with her assistant Georgia while my numbing agent took grip for my procedure to start. I am honestly looking forward to my next visit and will enjoy being in her care while my husband is stationed here. I absolutely love this place! From the top of its roof all the way to the floor including every single employee in between. Oh, and all of her patients leave happy and smiling. What a diamond! I just want to bring them all home and make them my family! Such a positive experience. read more

Came in for first dental with a 5 year old. Nurse did not want to allow both parents in with the child. Put child on the seat then asked her if she had concerns (yes asked to the child). Did not look further, did not check teeth, and wanted to take x-ray directly. Before x-ray the dentist came in and started again about parents being present. Nurse and dentist have an attitude, equipment is outdated. New dental practice, and seems they lack experience and professionalism. I do NOT recommend this dentist. Obviously rude as well! read more
