This location was VERY professional. When I walked in I was greeted by the Front Desk Assistant, Candace. Candace was very patient with me and explained all the treatment options without giving me anxiety. Kaylee, the assistant, was calm and guided me through the intake process very well. I went to aspen dental as a new patient and was looking to get a cleaning. they did the check up and told me I had the beginning stages of gingivitis (after stabbing me in the gums like I've never been stabbed before and I know everyone says that but usually that doesn't hurt for me but this was actually pain and stabbing) anyways, so they said I need a specific type of cleaning not just a general one, the quote? Over $300 AFTER insurance... I knew this wasn't right so I went to a different dentist for a second opinion and the Dr. said I have "extremely healthy" gums and recommended a REGULAR cleaning covered by insurance. So basically, Aspen Dental is lying to you and robbing you. DO NOT waste your time with them. They also make you pay $40 OUT OF POCKET for a oral cancer screening that was just shining a black light in your mouth... which they did as part of the service at my other dentist and it felt more like a screening than whatever they did at Aspen Dental... I want to Aspen dental because they had a guarantee that you would be satisfied I wanted to screw in type they recommended a pair that would just snap in and remove once a year for cleaning so I had them order on one day got them I tried them on and they said okay but after a couple days I had to have him taken out cuz I had a very sore throat so I asked him about another type of denture and what they gave me did not work either the dentures that they made for me were 13,660.20 since nothing worked out I asked him about their warranty while they were trying to figure out what to do we couldn't come to something would work out for both of us they offered me a settlement of $2,233 which they put in their pocket $11,427.20 to their good and I have nothing that will work for me so whoever reads this have a blessed day and remember the words buyer beware read more

I had severe tooth decay between my teeth that the only solution was to remove all my teeth (20) and replace them with dentures. On 27 Jan 2025 I visited Aspen Dental Yulee, Fl for a x-ray and dental exam. The dentist told me all my teeth had to be removed and agreed on dentures. After meeting with the dentist I was told to see the business manager for the cost. The dental plan was over $12,000. II told the business manager that I could not afford that amount. The dental plan had no value for discount coupon, despite there website advertisement stating 25% off dentures. I asked if the had senior citizen discount or veteran discount, and the answer was no. My insurance would pay $2500 and she applied an insurance discount of over $6000 leaving a balance over $3500. I still said that I am on a fixed income and did not have the money. She said do not worry she had applied for Credit Card and they will loan the me $3000 at $88 per month for 3 years. I had been in a lot of pain in the last month and this looked like the best deal. I paid the balance with my debit card and my dental plan had a balance of zero. Two day later I had my teeth extracted and was fitted with temporary dentures. I went home and several hours later the Novocain wore off the dentures rubbed against my gum and cause pain that I had to take the dentures. My gums were swollen, still bleeding and had either bone or tooth protruding through the gum in several location. I waited a week to go back for the free adjustment but was told that I owed an additional $3178 and I could not get the adjustments unless the balance was paid in full. I did not have the money for this surprise bill and left the office. I have tried several times to talk with the business manager by phone and in person but she has not been available, returned my phone calls not set an appointment to discuss the outstanding balance. In March I received a Summary of Activity stating I owed $3178 and this was the final notice. I did not know what to do. How can Aspen Dental charge me when I have a dental plan that showed a zero balance. The bill I received did not match the amounts as listed in the dental plan. Upon a detail inspector of the dental plan I was charged $800 each for top and lower dentures to upgrade from classic to signature dentures. This was not explained in detail when the dental plan was presented. I found out later that the basic dentures upper and lower each cost at Aspen Dental was $452 but I was quoted the basic dentures upper and lower each were $1749. Classic dentures on Aspen Dental website was being offered at a 25% discount and so was the signature dentures. But no such discount included my dental plan. Also I was billed for a tooth extraction for tooth that was a post and crown. I am sure the cost to remove the crown is not the same as a tooth extraction. I realize now that I had been duped into signing a dental plan that had a zero balance only to charge me an additional $3,178 after all my teeth had been extracted. I think this is a unfair business practice, is illegal. As of today I cannot wear the dentures, I still have round white bumps on my gums with either bone or tooth protruding. I used all my insurance dental insurance for 2025 and have to wait until next year to find a dentist to determine the damage that was done to my gums and to be fitted with new pair of dentures. read more

Avoid going to Aspen Dental in Yulee at all costs!!! They are charging you more than your patient responsibility as set by your insurance company! When confronted they refused to give me back the money. On top of refusing the refund they came up with all kinds of excuses- which were lies- saying they did other things and that the insurance didn't pay. Well the insurance didn't pay because the work was never done and I shouldn't have to pay either! As per the insurance company, if they are an "in network provider" then their contract with the insurance company states they are not allowed to charge more than the patient responsibility. They make you pay for services up front, and they tell you that is your portion according to insurance, but in reality they've overcharged against the contract. On top of them going against insurance companies agreement, the dentist at this location is incompetent. I asked him twice if I needed a root canal, and he said no both times and that I needed a crown. Well at this point, I was still unaware of the insurance contracts and I paid him up front for what I thought was my part, which was close to $700.00. I gave that money only to find out not even 24hrs later after the crown was inserted -when I was in more pain than before- that I need a root canal. I ended up going to an endodontist because I was in such pain and they said that I had a vertical crack and needed to have the tooth removed. No need for a crown now. So not only was I put through hell and for nothing, but they over charged me. The fact that I paid for work that never needed to be done in the first place is ridiculous, but to also be overcharged for it is atrocious. This is when they started telling me they did other things that they did not. They do not have any X-ray to back up what they claim they did and that is why the insurance won't pay for bogus charges. So please beware, do not give them any money upfront until you call your insurance company yourself and find out what you really should be paying. Better yet go to another dentist, even if you have to travel to Jacksonville that not only knows what they are doing, but will not rob you of your hard earned money. read more

Be very careful before you decide to go to this practice. I had a molar tooth which had broken off at my gum and suddenly started hurting while on vacation. The tooth was scheduled to be extracted the day after I returned to Tennessee. I called aspen dental and they could see me at 8:am this morning. It was a straight forward procedure, extract a tooth. The first thing they wanted to do was set up a treatment plan. I explained that I have a dentist already and I had already scheduled the extraction, but it started hurting and I couldn't wait. After a while they decided to just take care of the tooth I had asked for. After X-rays I saw the dentist and he gave me several shots to get me numb and then left. Normally I wait for 5 to 10 minutes before the dentist starts. I waited for a really long time and needed to use the bathroom. It was in the lobby so I walked through the entire office but I didn't see my dentist anywhere. I ask the desk if he had forgotten me. They said no and I went back to my treatment room and continued waiting. I was concerned about the long delay because the numbing shots only last for a while. Sure enough, by the time he came back, he had to give me more shots, another wait. He was very skilled and extracted the tooth easier than I expected. As a result of all the medication, I had to stop beside the road and vomit. I had been in the office for well over 2 hours. My wife was in the lobby and overheard everyone's treatment plans (so much for HIPAA). She said Aspen Dental is mainly interested in "up selling " expensive treatment plans. I should have listened to my friends that warned me about these crooks. Now my credit score has dropped from an 803 to a 698. I went in with a broken bridge. The people were great. I was given an estimate of $2000. We proceeded with the temporary bridge after I paid them half in advance. When I returned for the permanent bridge, I was informed that it would be an additional $1000, At this point they have $1000 from me so I didn't have much choice. 8 months later, I was contacted by a debt collector stating that I owed an additional $820. Worst experience... I had to go two times just to get a simple cleaning. They pushed and pushed for up selling a stupid $100 electric toothbrush that I can get cheaper elsewhere. I made them check before hand that they accepted my insurance and they did but then on my way out I was handed this two page bill of things they didn't cover. When I called my insurance and explained what I was recommended to have done, they told me the office chose the codes in which they will get the most profit...excuse me!? There was not a single professional being in this office in the two times I went. Hardly engaged me but was so focused on their inside jokes they were yelling across the room. Even the dentist himself didn't have the decency to shake my hand, look me in the eye, or even acknowledge me really! I do not recommend this place at all... read more

The only reason this gets a 1 star is because I can't give it zero stars and my complaint isn't with the staff. They were mostly professional. However, this place is not about caring for their patients. Their focus seems to be on marketing and return visits. You will get a ridiculous amount of phone calls, letters and text messages. Our first visit took two visits. One to take x-rays and to see the dentist. Our cleaning had to be done on a different day. Who has time for that? Then on checkout at my second visit, they wanted me to fill out an online review in order to enter a drawing. All these good reviews you see around? They're not genuine, they're patients who are trying to win stuff! The last straw was a few weeks later we received a bill in the mail that the flouride treatment they used isn't covered by my insurance. I work in a medical practice so I understand not everything is covered. However, a dental office will know when a procedure is potentially not covered because they don't bill that many different procedures. We were not only not informed it may be non-covered, but weren't given the option for any different type of flouride treatment other than what we were given. Having gone to another dental practice in the area for 20 years, we've never had a problem with our flouride being covered by insurance. When we called we were first told it would be written off, but it never was. This place is all about the $, not about the patient. Go somewhere else. read more

I saw all the reviews that said they were told they needed a deep cleaning -- they told me the same thing. The closer-- who wants you to sign THEN for the package of services has to get each case up to a certain amount. You are told you need the most they think you will pay --- then they charge you for a $75 tooth brush. This is a chain which teaches its closers how to get they most -- I said I was not interested -- they pushed financing at 29%-- I had an infected gum --$5,000 -- oops. read more

We are new to the area; 14 months ago we moved here from California. Our Medi-Care plan offers a dental cleaning once a year. I saw the same dentist in CA every 6 months for the last 13 years, and have kept my dental health in good condition. I made an appointment last month with Aspen Dental for their required "check up/exam" so I could then get a basic cleaning. Their hygienist gave me a very dismal report on my dental "condition" and an estimated $1,658.00 of "needed" Deep Cleaning. I was confident that this was inaccurate. We had a Home for the Holidays trip planned to go back to CA and spend time with our daughter and son-in-law, so I call my old dentist to see if I could get into see him and get a second opinion. I saw him on 12 /21/18 and he confirmed my suspicion that this extensive work was definitely NOT NEEDED, and that a simple cleaning was in order. I called Aspen Dental to schedule this cleaning and was told that they would only preform what the hygienist had recommended. I asked her 4 times if she was saying that they are refusing to do the work covered by my plan, and would only see me if I agreed to do the $1,658.00 worth of work, and she finally said that; yes, that was correct. It is obvious to me that Aspen Dental is looking to gouge patients by "offering" (requiring) what they say a patient needs, which is blatant fraud in my opinion. I will be pursuing this in more depth with my health plan. read more

I went to this office to have an exam and X-rays because we don't have an established dentist since moving here last year. It was fine, nothing memorable and honestly, I decided I'd rather keep my business with a local dentist closer to my home. I called Aspen on to ask about the process to send my X-rays to a different dentist and they told me I needed to come in and sign a medical release form and then they could email or fax them over for me same day. Sure, I didn't want to go in for this but I get it - it's medical records. So I obliged, went right in to sign that day knowing my other appointment was coming up in 2 days. I signed the form, provided the email address and fax number and asked again about the timing to have the X-rays sent - the office assistant confirmed within 24 hours. Great, plenty of time. Called my new dentist the day of my appointment and they had not received anything. Ugh. Called Aspen to ask if they could be sent over ASAP and was left on hold for 10 minutes. Double ugh. Hung up and called again and the girl answered as if she had not forgotten I had already been sitting on hold for a while . Explained what I needed - X-rays emailed or faxed over within the next few hours and after having to phonetically spell my 5-letter last name 4 TIMES, she finally located my file and said "we could have given you a copy when you were in here the other day but if you want them sent somewhere, it's going to be a few weeks." If I could give a zero star review, I would. In October of 2015, I came in to have all of my wisdom teeth removed. (They were impacted, and needed to be cut out surgically.) I also needed two fillings as well. At first, I was so glad that they could get me in so soon, and I had nothing but nice things to say about them. Before my surgery, I was told that (with my insurance), the surgery would be around $600, and I needed to pay the balance up front before I went back. I paid IN FULL to have these procedures done. My surgery went well, (I chose to stay awake because it was the cheaper route,) and all of the staff was incredibly nice to me. They managed to get everything done at once, including the fillings. I left that day, relieved because I would no longer be dealing with the pain of the impacted teeth anymore. But what I didn't realize is, I left there with a whole new pain... in my behind. A few weeks later I get a bill, saying I owe another $800... on top of the $600 I already paid, and that my insurance did not cover the procedure. I figured that it was just a mistake, because I had been told RIGHT BEFORE the surgery, that it would be around $600 up front, the rest is covered. I went into the office with the bill and my receipt that said "paid in full" on it, and they did everything they could to still try to take my money. They were no longer the nice staff I had first met, they were incredibly rude and demanding. I spoke with my insurance company, and they told me I shouldn't owe any more. So, I'm assuming at this point, that they were trying to scam in a way. I never figured out why, but I got billed for a year straight until the bill went to collections, and now my credit is messed up. Two years later, my fillings have fallen out, and my teeth ache any time I eat anything chewy, because they didn't take their time to fix my teeth right. I had my first appointment with Aspen Dental today. The office is clean and well organized. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I was taken in almost immediately when I arrived for my appointment. I have a PPO insurance and this is one of the few clinics that take it, so I was worried it might be a lower quality experience. However, I was pleasantly surprised that all went very well. The dentist was young and very competent. X-rays were taken, explained and an exam was performed. All very thorough. Then a treatment plan was discussed. After the initial pain went away, my jaw keep throbbing & aching up to my ear. I called to go back. They couldn't get me in that day. Since the next 2 days were Christmas Eve & Christmas, I had to go through the holidays with no pain relief as regular Tylenol didn't help at all. I went in the day after Christmas. I could feel something sharp and thought a piece of tooth was left behind. He dug out 3 small pieces of bone (with no numbing) that he said worked their way out. By now, my mouth was hurting even worse than before. I asked what I could do to make it stop hurting. He suggested Advil which I cannot take. When I told him this, he just sort of blew me off and told me it could hurt for up to 40 days! I left & was crying by the time I got to the car. My husband was so mad he went in to see the dentist & told him I need some pain relief. Dr Estes had the nerve to tell my husband I didn't tell him I needed pain meds!! He basically called me a liar. He is the owner of the practice. I will never go there again! After reading other reviews, I will also add that I was told I had periodontal disease, too and needed the deep, 2 part cleaning. I'm kicking myself for not reading these ratings before my visit to this office. Aspen Dental is a scam. In what world does a Dental visit not include a basic teeth cleaning with the exam? Oh yeah, I forgot, in the scandalous world of Aspen Dental... First, I waited almost an hour to see someone, at which time, my teeth were imaged using the x-ray machine, then I was sent back to the waiting room for another 15-20 minutes! Afterward, someone reviewed my x-rays then told me that I should wait for the hygienist to clean my teach and the Dentist to discuss my x-rays. The Hygienist never came, and the Dentist examined my gums and teeth then recommended fill-ins for cavities - of which I was ushered back to the front of the office to discuss further with a medical assistant. I spent a total of 10-15 minutes in the examination chair (need I remind you that there was no routine teeth cleaning done); and about 30 minutes with the medical assistant! (of whom worked extremely too hard to sell her companies service by asking me to sign several documents even though, she claimed I owed the company no debt until after the fill-ins were completed). The medical assistants' job was to close the deal by scheduling me for two more appointments: one for the routine teeth cleaning and one to address the cavities. She was even kind enough to remind me that the present visit was free, however, for the 2-future visits, I would have to pay my insurance deductible and their office was too busy to perform a routine teeth cleaning (was that not what my appointment was for?) or fill-in. Needless to say, I suggest you run far away from this place. Devon at the front desk was very professional and went above and beyond and empathized with me to get me in as a walk in thank you! Layna made me feel extremely comfortable taking xrays and was very gentle and patient. Abrionna was very knowledgeable with my insurance and made me feel very at ease discussing the financial part of my visit!! Dr Sabina was very excellent in my procedures I had done in the office he is a dentist that I would highly recommend. My appointment was 11 and they told me to come earlier. they were busy so i got accommodated around 12 but it was all worth it. They were very thorough with checking everything and they explained everything to me and told me my options. They made me feel comfortable and despite the wait, well taken care of. I take very good care of my teeth. Floss every day, brush two to three times a day, etc.. I was very surprised that the tech told me that I need a $900 "deep cleaning" procedure at my routine check-up. I voiced my concerns to the dentist when he came in and he concurred that I definitely needed it. Fortunately a neighbor ( his vacation home ) and good friend has a dental office in a nearby city. I made an appointment with him and he found that my teeth and gums were in excellent condition. So, use Aspen Dental at your ( and your wallet's ) peril. read more

We were told we MUST have x-rays every year. We were asked for half payment for x-rays at our appointments 6 months away or they wouldn't schedule the appointments. They tried to force expensive fluoride treatments on my husband and me. We had free x-rays on our first visit because we have no dental insurance, but after that the expenses started mounting. This Aspen Dental has been a nightmare for my family. My brother had a cleaning performed and a few days later noticed an abscess on his gum. He went back to Aspen and they told him he needed an emergency root canal. How they missed that on a cleaning two days before is insane. My brother scheduled a same week emergency root canal at a different office before he was to ship out for three months. That office informed my brother he had a giant abscess and infection of his tooth and gums that was a danger to his heart. He had to be put under for emergency dental surgery that was complicated. How Aspen could miss a giant abscess and infection is either a lack of knowledge on their part or total incompetence. read more

You will have to go in for a "consultation" and x-rays and go back for your cleaning and then go back again for any cavities. I found this unusual. Also, they charged me (like the other review) $125 to squirt mouthwash into each corner of my mouth (a separate charge for each quadrant). I had a cavity filled on a back molar and was given 4 shots of novacain and literally could not feel that side of my mouth for 12 full hours. I have NEVER been given that much numbing even when getting a crown and root canal. That side of my cheek was swollen for a week after. I do not plan to return. read more
