After reaching out to multiple outfitters in the region, I choose Jack's and I'm glad I did. I didn't want to transport my 17 foot Grumman aluminum to upper Wisconsin and take it through the rapids. We were also going to need to rent a second boat anyways and needed a shuttle. I started looking into local outfitters. They were quick to respond to my inquiries and answer my questions. They also were willing to not only rent us a canoe and a kayak and provide shuttle service, but they answered my questions about what I'd need to do for a multiple night trip down the river. We camped at their site for the first night and put in right there so we could paddle down the river, across Trego Lake, portage the dam, then continue down the Namekagon and St. Croix Rivers over the next couple of days. The equipment they rented us was in good condition. We had no issues with the paddles, PFDs, or boats. The shuttle van was clean and well maintained. When we looked at the camps all of them where in nice, clean conditions. The port-a-poties were clean. They have a store on site to purchase any items you may need to go down the river. The staff was friendly and nice. It wasn't busy when we arrived and was able to chat with some of them. It's a family own and operated business. We had scheduled a 3pm ride back to our vehicles on our last day but due to our underestimating how fast our trip was, we got there around noon. I called Jack's and inquired if there was any way they could pick us up early. Knowing they're busy I highly doubted it. Their response was they didn't have any drivers available right then, but if one becomes available early they would send them our way. We really didn't expect anyone to get there until 3pm. However, around 2pm the shuttle arrived. If we had to wait until the scheduled pick up time that would be understandable, but because they had the availability and could come early, that was pretty awesome in my book. If you're looking for an outfitter to go down the river either via canoe, kayak, or tube... I can't recommend enough Jack's.

We also used them to rent canoes and it was top notch. Fast and efficient drop off and pickup. River was beautiful. Be sure to check out the little store for some good T-shirt and mitten options! The staff are all extremely rude and have zero customer service. Im not sure if it was a caretaker or just an employee, but he stayed in a tent on the camp ground and act as camp police ensuring that there was no fun to be had... this means, no music, talking/laughing "loud" ... and this was all before their weekend quiet hours of 10:30. Honestly it was ridiculous. Also their tubing rental is a joke. Dont waste your time or money on their lacking operation. Do yourself a favor and go down to Jacks Tubing or Log Cabin... you will have a WAY better time.

Only about 20 mins of the three hours were spent floating, the rest was tripping over sharp rocks while walking the tubes through rapids and trees. Everyone had bloody knees and toes by the end. Lost a phone, 4 vapes, a speaker and 2 shoes. We were told not to bring anything and used water proof cases, but the physical labor was too much. Took the bus about 20 mins to pick us up and everyone was frozen without our towels. Spent $140 with our bachelorette party group of 7 & would not recommend unless river levels are about double the current level.

We have been camping at this KOA for 10+ years, and the decline the last couple of years has been…read moredisappointing. The mini golf stations haven't been maintained almost since they were built - the felt is peeling, everything is rusty and rotting, and it's honestly boring. It would be nice to have more fun obstacles on some of the stations. The picnic tables are rotting and falling apart, and whatever stain was on there is long gone or peeling, so they need some serious attention. It is disappointing that the prices are so high but the amenities are declining - they have either disappeared (the water slide, the arcade) or they are in need of repair and/or updating (picnic tables, mini golf, playground equipment). A lot of the playground equipment had literal tape on it to "fix" it, instead of replacements. We still love the staff and atmosphere, but it becomes harder each year to justify the cost when we could pay the same, or slightly more, to stay at a place like Stoney Creek.

We even turned it down to the lowest setting but still didn't help. It was great they had a pool and splash pad but they didn't open until 10 and while the sign said closed at 8, the online policy you sign said it closed at dusk. We went just after 8 and were told it was closed. We pointed out the policy and was told they had to update the website. It was disappointing and not a great impression. The camping spaces are very close together and for the price to stay in the wagon ($175/night) you have to bring basically everything to cook and stay. Overall it's fine for a little getaway and we live close but I probably won't come back.

The park is located just an hour and a half from the twin cities area so made for a great day trip destination! We did the recommended scenic drive to the 100ft fire tower which gave us some awesome fall color views! The park had many beautiful trees and we saw so many blue birds! We really want to check out camping here but will have to save that for another trip! Overall a great park to check out the fall colors!

I can't believe it took me this long to explore this state park. Close enough to the cities for a…read moreday trip, big enough to make you want to come back and keep exploring -- it helps that the weather was perfect during our camping trip. The park itself is incredibly large. Be prepared to drive 5-15miles to get to different areas of the park. Plenty to do from the largest area of electric campsites I've seen at a state park, to river access for canoes/kayaks, to a beach to swim and relax, to the famous observation tower if you want the most scenic view of the park. Campsites are not super private, but very spacious -- so spacious you could easily fit a large camper (30ft+), a tent or clam, and your vehicle, and still have room for activities. Also, poor to no cell service at campsites (so you can disconnect!), but they do have wifi in park buildings. PS: climbing the tower isn't for the faint of heart -- steep.

The resort is now very family oriented with activities for the kids on the weekends. My girlfriend and I just spent 8 days and 7 nights in the "Escape Cabin". Beautiful view of the lake. Seriously if your wanting to camp or rent a cabin, this is the place to go. My sister is a seasonal and when come out the owners make us feel like family.
