Our Logan's experience started off on the wrong foot, but we left full and happy, which is all you can really ask from a restaurant. It must've been obvious we aren't from around here, because some dude literally stared me down the entire walk from the front door to my seat. I can only assume he's never seen anyone this handsome before, but still, it felt a little rude. They ran out of kid menus, but this wasn't our first rodeo so we had our own markers and coloring books to keep our kids occupied. Our waiter was also an actual child (at least he looked it from where this old man was sitting), and was not exactly on top of things. He brought me a pretty weak Guinness pour (not his fault actually), and then forgot to take our order for a while. It gave us the chance to look around. The walls are covered in kitsch, in a good way. Lots of character, and it's warm and welcoming. There's an old lobster trap hung by the door, and it turns out Thursday is lobster night. We didn't reserve our table or our crustaceans (you should do both), but plenty of people around us were getting down with a pretty serious meal that included corn and potatoes and more. We opted for some chicken fingers for the kids, and the Chicken Riggies (mezze rigatoni in a spicy pink sauce, with chunks of chicken and mushrooms and more) and The Logan (marinated flank steak served atop garlic toast). I often roll with dishes named after the restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised that they cooked the steak BEAUTIFULLY. Tender, well-seasoned, and actually medium rare. The Chicken Riggies was a giant calorie bomb in the best way. Super flavorful, huge, and just a crowd pleaser. The combination was a much better meal than I was expecting after the slow start, and it's going to bring us back. Logan's seems like a local family joint. The service is hit or miss, but the atmosphere is fun, and the food is fresh, delicious, and affordable. That makes it a winner in my book. They prefer cash, but who doesn't? read more

Delicious dinner of very hot, 'almost famous' French onion soup , N/A beer Bud zero they also had AMI jukebox so I could DJ.. our bartender and server was a 9/11 first responder who is in New York City for two weeks. BUYER BEWARE!!! See the menu price? Well don't expect to pay that ... the bill comes with it costing $1 more. Little Logan advertised as $13.95 ... check comes at $14.95. Soup du Jour is $5.95 but I'm charged $6.95. Mozzarella sticks advertised for $8.95 ... the bill comes in at $10.95. Never again!! $75 for 3 lunches?? Unbelievable for mediocre food and terrible service. Despite 4 months of communication (or lack thereof) with the restaurant asking why our lunch was $75, I received a copy of our bill which explains why it was so high. Came here on Saturday night. There was only one super friendly guy working and he was great! They had a meatloaf special that my brother loved and devoured. I really enjoyed the french onion soup. Sorry no pics of the food, but take my word for it, I enjoyed the best Cuba Sandwich ever. There must have been a whole pork shoulder in there - ok exaggeration. Despite I felt like Johnny the 8th eating this fresh pulled pork, ham, gooey Swiss cheese, dill pickle, and mustard. "Take me now oh great one, but please let me finish my Corona & Lime." We were greeted warmly by our waitress Bridget and she made us feel welcome. Me and my friends went here hoping for a good dinner out on New York trip, but it was the exact opposite. Our waiter, Jeremiah, was very rude, he made fun of everything we ordered. He was also drinking on the job. The food was nothing to rave about, they said they only cook burgers rare or medium rare but they came out burnt and over done. They are also not at all transparent on their menu. Our waiter asked if we wanted more appetizers, making it sound like they were free, when they were not. As well, we were unaware of the fact that they did not offer free refills on drinks, even though he came out and gave us more to drink without telling us. read more

After hiking a challenging Adirondack Mountain my wife and I wanted to reward our selves with a hearty celebratory meal. On the edge of hangry we stopped at Logan's Bar and Grill in Speculator. As we entered Logan's we were greeted by the manger. He was very personable, welcoming and recommend we sit at the bar because it's a great place to meet and chat with people. We politely asked for a table in the dining area since all we could think about was food and a beer! Our server was pleasant. Took our order and checked on us for drink refills. We started off with a house salad with in-house made balsamic vinaigrette and a French Onion Soup. The soup was fantastic! Not overly salty, perfect amount of onion, croutons and that cheese pull was awesome! I had a cooked to order 1/2 pound Swiss burger with bacon and fries. It was nice to take a break from the Smash burgers that are the sensation right now (don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a double patty smash burger!!). My wife ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. The sauce was home made and tasted great. The eggplant had great texture. We were a bit in awe that this bar and grill served this dish so well. They had a nice selection of New York and national beers as well. We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious our meal was. Food and service was great. Close to home (Lake Pleasant) is a huge bonus especially during off season times.

Took a drive this past Friday afternoon to get out of town and see a little bit of the Adirondacks and drove up to Speculator. Decided to grab an early dinner so we stopped at Logan's bar and Grill. It was quiet because it was well before the dinner rush, but that didn't stop them providing prompt and friendly service. My wife got chicken wraps and I got a French dip and both were very good and the price was reasonable. Paired with an IPA from Schroon lake brewery. Very good experience for dinner. read more

The type of small town restaurant where the owner takes you to your table, gives you the menu and the son buses the table. We entered after a long day of being on the road and we were able to order some comfort food and be treated well. Our meals came out quickly and everything was prepared as it should. I ordered a cheese burger, fish sandwich and a children's pizza. Like I said nothing was gourmet but it hit all the right spots. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but I'm so happy we stopped there. Throughout our trip of the Adirondacks, not many places have wow'd us. My wife and I stopped based on the reviews. The place was mostly empty and we were looked at like we each had three heads when we came in shortly before 6:00. The guy taking our order couldn't have been less personable. I guess you have to be a local. The food which WAS decent took forever to come despite the empty dining room. The place did start to fill up before our food came. After the food finally did come, we weren't checked on once. No drink refills, no asking if everything was ok...nothing. And I had to get up and ask the guy for our check while he was chatting up another table. We had tried to make eye contact with him and the other two servers, but apparently we were invisible. His attitude could not have been more arrogant. I never write bad reviews but this was too much. Maybe we caught them on an off day but I won't be back to find out. read more

Had grilled salmon and "mixed veggies", nothing spectacular but a good meal considering I was in the Adirondacks. Salmon was cooked a bit more than I like but had good flavor. The mixed veggies were just zucchini and yellow squash sautéed in butter, but tasty. The neighboring table ordered the special-sea bass filet over lobster risotto-and spoke very well of it, as did one of the people I was dining with. Others in my group were very happy with their selections, as well-Eggplant Parmesan was "the best I've had in a long time" and Chicken Riggies were "awesome". Didn't get a chance to eat here, but I was not impressed with my short experience. Was looking for a spot for my wife, baby and I to grab a bite to eat on our way through speculator. I went in and found the bar area to be pretty crowded with only a couple tables which were occupied and a couple open bar stools. No signs saying whether to seat yourself or wait to be seated. I sat in the dining room area, which was totally empty and figured I'd wait for someone to come bring menus and help us. Instead, a couple mins went by before the guy behind the bar popped out and said "guys, come in the bar room." We promptly left...sorry but I'm not squeezing into a crowded bar room with my baby for a bite to eat. We won't be back. read more

I stop here with the family just about every time we camp at Moffitt or are passing through Speculator. Seems like we have a better experience each time! Most of all the staff is super engaging and attentive, and very kid-friendly. The food is solid and they know how to make a good french fry. Good variety of beers and great atmosphere.
