Pulling into the parking lot at 6 and it was packed, we were surprised to get a table relatively quickly. Luckily there were just 4 of us. We had a lovely waitress who didn't mind telling us she didn't know the answer to a question, but got an answer to us later. I had the mt Francisco salad which a huge mound of goodness. Avocados, corn, chicken, and asparagus. Yum! My husband had the Reuben and loved it, the others in our party had the chicken sandwich buffalo style, his wife had the avocado blt, both were plenty for a dinner. I stopped at the Inn last week the day of the power outages in Speculator. The service was excellent, very dry fast and friendly. Free WiFi was nice since the wifi was out everywhere else. The pizza was divine. Garlic Parm wings were good too. I want to try the Buffalo wings next. I had never been to the Oxbo Inn before. Great experience during a stressful situation. I guess we didn't learn our lesson about the Oxbow Inn,Piseco NY which we reviewed on 10/2/16. We stopped this past Saturday, Oct.14th hoping things my have improved the past 7 years. No such luck. 3 of us ordered the roast beef half sandwich and cup of soup.The soup was so salty we it was inedible. It was lukewarm as well. The marble bread was so stale that it fell apart as we tried to eat it. We were beyond disappointment again and couldn't even muster the energy to complain. The Oxbow Inn is definitely off our list and we will never return there again. If your up for a large bar and want to spend your money drinking go for it. I don't think I have ever witnessed service this bad. There was one waitress serving the whole place so we were prepared to be patient because that is a tough position to be put in! Not what it used to be. It's been a few years since I've been to Oxbow Inn and was disappointed with their new limited menu which is mostly sandwiches and bar food. That said the special the night we were there was shrimp scampi, which sounded good. Honestly, I have never had a more bland meal in my life. Three in our party ordered it and even with pouring salt, pepper, and parmesan on it it still had no flavor. Others in our party had some of the sandwiches which they liked. I went here with my friend and her family, it was awesome. The atmosphere goes perfect with the general vibe of the Adirondacks. The wait wasn't bad, and while we were waiting, we got these cute little garlic knots while we waited on the back porch that overlooked the lake. I got the pickle pizza which was delicious (only if you like dill pickles though, lol). Most of my table got the haddock fish fry, all said it was amazing and ate the entire thing. Having a "off grid" camp in the area we frequent the Oxbow on our travels through town. We always find the food fast and to be great "pub fare", the pizza selections vary and are found to be large in size and loaded with ample toppings. We have sampled burgers, sandwiches and desserts on our visits and all are good solid food items served promptly in a great local atmosphere. So this was my first trip to the bow. However, my aunt and uncle from the area have been in from time to time over the last 12 years. I'll start off with a little history I gathered. The restaurant has been owned by a few different people throughout the years. Under new ownership there were some significant renovations late last year. The bar has now doubled with some tables being removed to make room. There is a dining room on a lower level behind the bar with about 15 tables. I'd say the bar could seat about 25 with a few high tables around the sides. It's decorated fairly well and was packed with locals. At the bar they have 16 taps which they claim is the most in the Adirondacks (not sure about that). Draft beer might be slightly lacking in craft selection they could definitely throw some omegang, magic hat or other local brews up there. They do have wine and woodchuck cider on tap (this is not for me and detracting from additional beer options). Bartenders are really good and seem like they've been around for a while. Food options were good they had a few specials but I settled on cheeseburger. Burger had a big tasty bun and lots of fries on the side. It was a little over cooked though but still decent flavor. Prices are very reasonable about $5/pint and $10/burger. I might come off over critical for some minor things but this place is really great to hang out for food and drinks. I saw on the door that they have live music some weekends, that would make for an even better experience. Also, they have some outdoor patio seating which looked pretty good. One extra thing worth mentioning is their bathrooms. They're currently in these small, dirty "broom closets" near the entrance. However, at least the ownership recognizes the issue and a sign inside said they would be constructing new restrooms this year. I look forward to coming back and seeing new improvements and trying some different things like the pizza that looked really good. Overall 4/5, great potential and a good find up in the Adirondacks. read more

We haven't been here in two years and very pleased with the changes. I had the chicken with balsamic vinegar mozzarella balls over buttered fettuccine which was delicious. My husband had the night special of Chicken Parmesan. Chicken tender but needed some changes on the spaghetti sauce. It didn't have the right Italian taste and wish they would change it. That's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars. Our waiter Justin was very helpful and attentive. We will be back another night to try different selections. read more

We had the best lunch! We started w The steamers they had on special followed by lovely house salads w fresh greens, Parmesan garlic chicken wings and turkey sandwich. Now I want to preface this with... I am a very easy going diner. I usually only come to yelp to review places that absolutely did the customer service right even if the food wasn't spectacular because some places can really get a boost from a good review. Now... I have been to the Oxbow many times over the years. Went on a Saturday to take friends out for dinner. Prime Rib is always good and was ok this time. I had some that weren't very hungry and just got tenders and fries. Everyone said they were gross but I shrugged it off and joked that they ordered them in the first place. Paid our somewhat large bill, and went on our way. Stopped in the next day to grab some food to go and enjoy a couple drinks. Our to go order comes out. Mind you, we still have drinks in front of us and have not asked for a bill because of that. We were told we could not open the to go box's while in the restaurant because "it's the rule". It was slow, plenty of room around the bar and it was of zero inconvenience to them. When the bartender told us this, we thought she was kidding but then proceeded to say it again and even other customers at the bar were looking at her in disbelief. This place stands out as one of my worst dining experiences ever. I was there with a group of about eight, on a late Saturday afternoon/early evening. We were seated quickly. We all ordered sandwiches/wraps. I remember one friend that was a vegetarian ordered pasta, because that was all he could eat on their menu. I can't remember for sure (it was a number of years that I was there), but I'm pretty sure I ordered some sort of California wrap. As did a number of other people at my table. When mine came out, it was a different wrap, I think buffalo chicken. I quickly told the waitress there was a mistake, and didn't even bite into the wrap. She quickly snapped back that I had ordered a buffalo chicken. I was taken back, but tried to reassure here the I didn't, and other diners even told her they remember me saying that I ordered a California wrap. They brought me the right one. But after that the waitress was beyond rude. The food was mediocre at best. After that, I'm pretty sure no one that ate with us has been back. read more

Reuben had plenty of fresh sliced corned beef on nice thick rye bread, came with coleslaw and fries. Fries weren't anything special (frozen) but were crispy and hot. Chicken parm was a frozen breaded patty, over fried, not sure I'd order it again, nothing special, but it did come on a big roll, there was plenty to eat. Nice selection of draft and bottled beer. I do wish the portions were a big bigger as I've never been somewhere where I only got a small handful of fries. But we will be stopping again. Hopefully next time in the car so we can order a pizza! Caution - we drove for well over an hour on Rt 8 and did not see a single store, restaurant or gas station until we happened upon the Oxbow Inn. We did not know what to expect - but found a gem. Friendly atmosphere, good service, terrific food, free WiFi (which was welcome as cellular service is spotty at best) and a panoramic view. We were there on a Friday and the fish special was beyond good. If you are on Rt 8 make it a destination. read more

This place had fine food and VERY friendly, accommodating, and helpful staff. We heard that the pizza recipes come from the beloved and defunct Tower Pizza. The pieces are huge and the crust is thin but sturdy. Interesting combinations and the opportunity to pick your own. We arrived with 11 people on a Saturday night and they quickly found a place for us in a fairly busy restaurant. Well I have been coming here every summer and make it a point to order a pizza to go. This trip will be our last. Placed our order at 6pm and was told it would be one hour. Got there one hour later and it took 15 minutes to even get someone to notice me. They checked on my order and said it has not been put in yet and would be another 10 minutes. Needless to say it was 30 minutes later when they brought it out. When I reached my car to bring it back to the family I checked it and to my surprise it was cold. Not wanting to spend another 20 minutes there I went home. Everyone asked why it was cold. What could I say. Well after calling them back to say that the pizza was cold, the person on the other end told me I was a lier and to bad. So much for customers being rite. Never going there again.
