Just a sweet little cafe experience that welcomes you back.

The service, food and cost are all great! The ambiance is charming!! We would definitely enjoy time here again. (We're not in this area often, but I've heard about this sweet place since at least 1988)

Came here last Sunday around 630 in the AM. Waitress and cook, obviously a tired slow morning everyone has. Got a cute free post card. I had pancakes, sausage and homefries. Homefries were slightly underdone but that was alright. Very filling. Decent coffee. Cute atmosphere. Bathroom SPOTLESS.

The sign in the front was enough to make me buy a shirt. Smelled like indoor campfire and added to the trucker vibe

Ambiance is quaint and quiet, no luxury.

Fast American Food for people on the go, passer bye travelers. Service was timely and Pauline was extra nice! Food is good. We had sandwiches BLT, Fish, Hamburger and also some Chicken fingers. All were cooked fresh but they are not home cooked. Expect quick food, Hot food. I would recommend a stop if you like American fast food. I also know they had soups and salads for more healthy eating. Prices are very reasonable.

So, pro tip: If you're driving from Michigan to Vermont and your map takes you through this part of Upstate New York, be sure to uhh, take advantage of facilities when you see them, before you start your journey through the mountains. I'm not sure where anyone living up here gets gas or groceries, because those establishments don't exist for miles and miles... and miles. If you need to use a restroom and you don't see a gas station for hours, things can get a little dicey on the road. Just saying. Every small town we passed through looked like it had some kind of store that might have a restroom but they always ended up just being someone's house. I was getting desperate enough that I considered knocking on some doors. Oh yeah, there is no cell phone service up here either, so you can't really search on Yelp or a map to see what's around. Anyway, just about when I thought my boyfriend and I might die from being too hydrated (if you know what I mean), we finally found a pocket of cell service and I found the Black Bear Restaurant in Pottersville! The parking lot had cars in it, so I figured it was open (unlike the one other restaurant we drove by). We hopped out of the car with jubilation and made our way inside. The place is half small town dive bar, half small town diner. I was totally there for it. And for the bathroom. We sat at the counter of the diner side and we ordered some food before casually walking to the bathrooms as if we hadn't needed one for the past three hours or so. The food came out pretty quickly and was hot and fresh. The clam chowder was pretty good, with actual clams and big chunks of potato. The chicken tenders were over-fried and tough but the BBQ sauce helped. When we finished, our server asked if we wanted any pie - of course we wanted pie! Peach pecan pie, to be exact, that was just baked that morning. The pie was great with lots of fresh fruit and sugary pecans. The crust didn't seem homemade to me but the whipped cream made it better. The food was decent, but nothing special. We used the bathroom again before we left.

Food is decent and the place had a recent makeover. Still a local place, for the most part. Service is fine and the ambiance is local.

Good food, good people, low prices. Can't get much better than that! This is my favorite place to go for breakfast when I'm in the area.

Easy laid back country roadside eatery. Simple food, burgers, not prepared well and service is pleasant. Very tidy and clean.

Family of 5 visiting on vacation...return visitors…read more All of the breakfast food was very well prepared and had great taste. The Sugar & Spice pancakes are always a must have for my son. I had an omelet off of the Specials menu with Pineapple, ham and mozzarella...Basically a Hawaiian Pizza but in an omelet. Very good, if you like Hawaiian Pizza. The home fries didn't have much color to them but we're actually cooked through and tasted good With a nice texture. The only draw back was our server, while efficient, had like in the way of people skills. Every interaction was as short as possible. Not bad, just not good. Lots of items to shop for if you are a tourist.

I've been coming to Killington for years in the summer. We most often eat at the Backcountry Cafe,…read morewhich is a good large hearty (but not heart healthy) breakfast restaurant. We finally decided to try out S&S and I found it good, but not worth the 5 stars everyone gives it pancakes = well cooked, round, pretty standard. don't get 4 pancakes unless you want be in a pancake induced coma. also, they put a literal small ice cream scoop size of butter on the pancakes. Only IHOP does that and it's way too much butter. If you are eating all of that butter, you might need an extra dose of lipitor. Toast = kind of boring S&S pancakes = kind of tasted like pancakes with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Home fries = those were good I was there with two 16-year olds who both thought the food was "mid". I did see a small girl sitting with plate in front of her that had a waffle with ice cream and whipped cream piled so high, that it was almost as tall as her. Her eyes were huge and she was trying to figure out where to start. That waffle looked pretty good and as I passed the table, her dad was leaning in to "help out and keep the plate clean". They sell a lot of baseball hats and t-shirts.
