Spent over $350.00 on hydrangeas and a butterfly tree and planted according to what the recommendations were, and all of them are dying. The same hydrangeas I bought from Walmart are doing great, and cost 75% less. Needless to say very disappointed in the quality of the plants. Wont be going back. read more

This is a hidden gem in Fuquay. During the winter months they don't have a lot but once spring hits they are packed to the brim with lots of plants. Prices are very reasonable and staff is extremely knowledgeable. Recently the entrance has been moved so if you're traveling east, you will need to turn down a side street to get into the parking lot. If you're coming from the west you can turn in right off of Old Honeycutt. The parking lot is sufficiently sized unless they are having an event or big sale then it can get really hard to find a spot. Inside the main building they have a lot of garden and non-garden items such as soaps and lotions and even an Ice Cream shop!! There is a decent sized greenhouse attached where you will find all of your houseplants along with houseplant pots. Look for the green and orange stickers for 75% and 50% off respectively! Outside they have a wide selection of trees, shrubs, giant pots, grasses, and other yard decorations. Compared to Big Bloomers in Sanford they are quite small with a limited selection. However, I believe that the plants they have available would appeal to a variety of customers. Definitely worth the stop! read more

Kind, friendly, & knowledgeable staff! Within minutes of walking up I was asked if I was looking for anything specific or just browsing. Great prices as well! Purchased pumpkins (also on sale) with 100% of the proceeds going to WNC after hurricane Helene. They also accept donations with a list on their website and FB page of current needs. Also, purchase a lovely succulent bunch in a pumpkin themed pot for a friend (we're 50% off). Very reasonable plant pottery reasonable and has a large selection on sale too. read more

I don't think I've seen so many miniature scenes set up in a potted plant. Garden Hut has fun garden decor items. Some are unusual, like the garden stones with frog or dragonfly patterns, and others are in the category of bemusing -- the huge planter shaped like a foot. Okay, so I've seen those from time to time, but never with plants in them, so I thought they were just diversions. Garden Hut had two of the, a left foot and a right foot, with plants in them. That was fun, but probably not practical in a small garden. The other statuary items, like dogs, rabbits, birds, frogs, lined up as if to form a fence between the sidewalk and the garden. What caught my attention were the plants in large pots decorated like a Japanese garden, or those in the greenhouse, with two skating santas. They were adorable. Fortunately, GH sells some of the small items for making your own scene, although I would have to copy something already done, since I don't have that level of creativity. Inside, are home decor items, and garden decor items, from birdhouses and food, to garden plaques. There's also the usual plant and garden foods along with someone who can answer questions and offer practical suggestions. Garden Hut will be a must-stop place for me when I'm in the area. I am intrigued by the possibilities of doing something fun with the big plant pots I can't seem to make work for anything except taking up space. read more

I love this garden center, and have purchased items from them a few times, including paperwhite bulbs last winter that bloomed beautifully for me all through the Christmas season, and just today a pair of gorgeous variegated boxwoods that I've been searching for, for months. I love just walking around and looking at everything they have to offer here, as well as the charming way it's been displayed. I only gave 4 stars for 2 reasons - the prices are on the high side, and the hours are very limited, so often when I find I have the time to shop here, it's closed. read more

I picked up some gorgeous pots to plant my flowers in and of course I picked up several jars of Cape Fear Pirate Candy .... my favorite is the candied jalapenos! I really enjoy visiting the Garden Hut! There isn't as much of a selection as some local nurseries I've visited, but their displays are so beautiful, and they carry a lot of outdoor decor, not just plants and flowers. The owner is very knowledgeable and helped me find plants that work well in the unique terrain of my back yard. The prices are a bit higher than the big stores like Walmart, but I feel it's worth paying a little more to interact with someone who knows what she's talking about and provides great customer service! read more
