Three weeks later, I went to the store in person only to find a sign on the door stating they wouldn't be back until September. I still do not have my computer, no clear explanation of what's going on, and no way to get in touch. My kids have been asking about it, and it's incredibly frustrating to be left in the dark after paying upfront. This has been a very disappointing and stressful experience.

I happened to pass Marathon on my way to the Natick mall and figured what the hell, the computer's still in the car, might as well give it a try. Long story short, they charged me $180 bucks and now my computer is as good as new. I'm actually kind of angry at myself for going to Geek Squad in the first place; I consider myself a fairly savvy consumer, and Geek Squad's conflict of interest is glaringly obvious. If you're told your computer is beyond repair while standing in a Best Buy, chances are you're going to buy your new computer at that Best Buy---instead of being satisfied with your piddling $180 for repairs they'd rather scam you into dropping 1K on a new computer instead. Anyhoo, I'm never going to darken the door of a Geek Squad again and I suggest you follow suit; big conglomerates aren't going to treat consumers with respect until we demand it.
