Lokahi Brewing features awesome monthly events! I had the honor of attending a magic show by Matthew Singer. He was phenomenal--intertwining magic and psychology. He definitely knew how to entertain and captivate a crowd! I would speak about it more, but I can't give away the magician's secrets. My only complaint is that Lokahi Brewing fit us all into a pretty tight space on the second floor so it was a bit uncomfortable. 5/5 Yelp Stars for Matthew Singer. Unfortunately, Lokahi Brewing's food missed the mark for me. Their brews were not bad, but there are other breweries in town that I prefer over Lokahi. I tried 4 different ones, and my favorite was the FLOOR IS GUAVA. Here's all the food we got: LOKAHI NACHOS w/ BIRRIA MEAT ($23) [3/5] - Portion was decent for $23, but the chips ran stale and there was uneven distribution of cheese and toppings throughout the nachos. Literally, one side had all the cheese and toppings. The birria meat didn't really taste of the classic Mexican spices that makes birria so good, it felt more like pulled pork. It was also dry. FRIED PICKLES ($10?) [2/5] - This was SO SALTY. I didn't really taste the tang of the pickles, felt like it was squeezed out of all its juice. It was ultimately just chips with a ton of salt. I downed two cups of water trying to finish these. Ultimately, I would come back to Lokahi Brewing for their shows and a brew or two, but I'll eat at home or elsewhere first before coming. read more

I don't think I've ever started a review with "WOW," and if I did, it was because I was wondrously awed. This, unfortunately, was the polar opposite, and is the direct and singular fault of the owner himself--not the manager, not staff members, not the brewmaster on a break, not even the lowly security guard deployed mafia-style to harass a customer--NOBODY but the dude 100% responsible for operations and customer service. Tuck yourselves in with a nightcap and let me begin the tale of a years-long beer-drinking relationship at Lokahi gone as sour as their beers. ***And for the TL/DR crowd; there's a variety of rotating taps here, with the occasional IPA high spot (and yes, Sours too), but it comes at the potentially high cost of dealing with the fatally unhinged owner. The food is comfort food-style, but inconsistent in terms of service, speed and menu availability. All forgivable because the bartenders and servers are fabulous, but the owner, let's very politely say, appears to be deeply struggling with his inner demons... and substances that make you act erratically and turn your eyes red.*** All right, now buckle up and let's dive in, beeeecause I arrived home about 30 minutes ago, and I am, in Chappell Roan's famous words: H-O-T T-O G-O. And if you could imagine the furious speed with which my fingers are typing, you might be able to imagine the utter outrageousness to which our table was subjected. The details are long and boring, except to explain that we ordered 2 burgers & fries during an understaffed night, which took more than an hour to receive. No blame, no problem; the servers were doing their best, and the kitchen was backed up. Wouldn't have been a problem, all things considered, because I am a frequent customer, and we were there for trivia night, which I regularly attend. In fact, today was an exciting victory in which we placed first. All fun and games, right?? Riiiiight?? *crickets* Well, we ordered food during Round 1 and well over an hour later, shortly before the very last few questions of the final Round 4, we asked if our burgers were ever going to arrive? If not, no worries, please cancel the orders. We were assured that everything would be coming out soon so we decided to wait patiently. No problem! The food is typically pretty inconsistent, and I think that's largely due to the challenging lack of commercial kitchen space, but they do their best. And we're a friendly crowd. Whatever. It's fine, we're there for trivia and beer! Due to the slow service, I drank a total of 2 beers and ate a burger and fries over the course of a 2-hour period. This is an important detail, as it pertains to what you can relatively approximate about someone's sobriety. Now, hold that thought, and let's continue. Coincidentally, I had ordered my burger with *no* sauce, and apparently at some point, my son asked for some *additional* sauce for his fries. I didn't hear his request and wouldn't have cared, but this is an important detail, as I had no idea whatsoever that he ordered it. The sauce wouldn't have been an issue except when the bill came, I inquired as to why I was charged 50 cents to take the sauce OFF my burger. The server, bless her, was puzzled and went to go ask [the man I later found out was the owner] about the surcharge. He walked over and haughtily explained that my son had ordered extra sauce, and that it cost 50 cents. My friend that I was dining with balked, given that we waited over an hour to receive the food in the first place. Instead of apologizing, explaining, or removing the charge, instead, the owner dug his heels in and doubled down. Dialogue as follows: Owner: Your son ordered it. Me: Okkkkaayy, and you never thought that you should check with a parent about adding items on a bill? (At this point I wasn't even upset about the charge yet, I was still just asking what it was.) Owner: I've been in this business for 40 years and I've never had a parent have an issue with their kids ordering food without telling them. Me: Riiiiight, well if you don't think so, then they weren't being honest with you. He shrugged and walked away and I turned to the server who was sheepishly clearing our table to ask, "Is he the manager on duty?" "Noooo," she replied quietly, "he's the OWNER."I said, "He seems like he's really struggling right now," she nodded and said "he is," as he glared at me from behind the bar. I'm not sure how much he heard, except he then huffed back over and told me to *leave* and when I said he was out of control, he had the audacity to add, "At least I'M sober!" 1) Ok, first off bro, I think you're accidentally telling on yourself in that "Methinks thou doth protest too much" kind of way. read more

Lokahi Brewing is a chill, "good vibes" kind of spot with great beers! [Location] Lokahi Brewing Company is located in town on King Street. There is parking behind, parallel to the Jack-in-the-Box drive thru. There are single-room restrooms for women and men separately. [Ambiance] I loved the relaxed, yet super clean look of the place. It's super unique and quite lovely. The space makes for a great casual spot for friends to catch up, or for a cute date. [Food and Drink] The beer is amazing! My boyfriend ordered a 16oz of "The Floor is Guava" and I tried a 16 oz of the Lilikoi option. Both were very good! Slightly tart/sour but not unpleasant--I usually don't do well with sours, but these were more refreshing and fruity than anything. I enjoyed my pub style burger with fries. The fries are sooo good, crispy and delicious. Definitely not the kind you can get from the freezer section. My boyfriend got 2 smash burgers. Of the two full days we were in Honolulu (as an extended layover on the way to the big island - definitely not long enough!), I took one afternoon to check out as many craft breweries as I could make it to that were walking distance of each other. Of them, beer-wise, this was probably the most *fun* of the places I went to, mainly because they focus mainly on kettle sours, and I happen to quite *like* their kettle sours. Of the 4 sours they had on draft when I was there (fully half their menu were kettle sources!), 3 out of 4 I liked a lot (I didn't think there was enough mango or strawberry in the mango/strawberry sour, but the POG one, I hate to say it, but I think beat my previous favorite POG kettle sour, from my favorite brewery back home, Trademark, now at #2. :D) I was also happy that they sell all their beer in individual cans, not just 4-packs - though there is a small discount if you buy at least 4 (mix and match). It isn't a terribly large place, but it's also a bit out of the way, so it wasn't busy at all when I was there, which I appreciated. It was a bit *warm*, but I learned, that's because their sours are fermenting right there, sounds like the beer likes it that temperature. It's great beer, so I wouldn't want to mess with it! Lokahi might be one of my top 3 breweries on Oahu. I'm big into sours, and they never disappoint. It's a pretty small brewery with limited parking, but I've never been when it's overly busy. Inside is quiet, with a few TVs, but it's neat and laid back, perfect for a chill afternoon. There is usually one bartender working who is always efficient and friendly. I like their food menu they offer - I haven't tried anything YET but I watched everyone order around us and they seemed very pleased. It all looked and smelled great and portions were big. Every beer I've had here is great. They also do flights. They have upstairs seating but I have never seen it open. They're also dog friendly which is a huge plus, but no outdoor seating. Stuck in traffic on the way home and decided to check this place out! Parking in the back, limited amount of stalls, but we got one! Meant to be. Located right before you hit the Jack in the box on King street (left hand side). We sat in the lower level section. Looks like there's an upstairs area, but didn't get to check it out. Very nice inside renovation and very clean. Tried a few beers and honestly everything was good. The sour they had wasn't too sour and just perfect for me! Yummy! All the dark beers are also very good. Service was great! There was only one person working the brewery and she was super helpful and friendly. I'll be back for food! Looked really yummy. There is an exceptional guava sour that is very well-balanced. The beertender and server are very attentive and I felt very welcomed there. Really wanted to like this place as a casual place to hang out and have a drink and some food. The sours fell short as my dining partner described them as tasting like "rotting fruit" (you know that taste that fruit gets when it's waaaaay overripe and starting to rot?). My coworker recommended I go here while they have the Melona milkshake IPA, and they were not wrong, I loved it. The server was super nice, even when we came in at 8:15pm, and online it said they closed at 9pm. He helped me choose my last beer based off what I usually like. All the beers were flavor strong and definitely a variety to have I usually drink. Hopefully they update their hours, I'm not quite sure if they closed at 9 and we were just there after closing or if it hasn't been updated. As usual, Lokahi continues to be a welcome sight in the neighborhood! It's such a cool, inviting place that hasn't disappointed us in the two years we've been patronizing them. Their Positive Vibe Lager was positively delightful, but the real star was their blackberry jam and bacon burger which had me exclaiming how delicious it was while my mouth was still full. It's always great to find new local spots since the best places in Hawaii tend to be hole in the wall locations where they put the most aloha into everything they do Lokahi was a nice surprise with a very casual feel, and while it doesn't look like it from the outside, they have an upstairs and spacious drinking area with a surprisingly robust food menu as well. The beer and cider selection was nice surprise and I got to experience the Positive Vibes IPA which was as smooth and relaxing as the name suggests. Definitely will be back to try more of the selection, and great to see S. King to grow and change. read more

Came in on a Tuesday night and it was a very chill atmosphere I'd say there was 12 people. For beer I got the lilikoi Sunset I believe and it tasted delicious. The food was so good! I meant to review this place awhile back, but finally deciding to after getting reminded of this brewery. I heard good things about it, however, it fell short in terms of service and ambiance. The server told us they were very busy inside so sat us on the bench outside in the parking lot. It was next to the food truck. We were hoping to sit inside to enjoy the ambiance. The service was slow. It took awhile to get our 2 beers and food. We ordered from the truck and that was decent. I did enjoy one of the sour beers! Another positive was that the server was very friendly and apologetic about the service when we payed our bill. They may have been understaffed that day and this may be abnormal for them. While we were in Kaka'ako/Ward we wanted to go a brewery for some lunch and drinks. We almost went to our typical brewery in Kaka'ako, but as we were searching through Yelp, we came across Lokahi and figured why not give it a try. You can find their location on the mauka-side (left-side) of South King St. They have a little parking lot behind their restaurant with the entrance directly to the right of their entrance. First-off, let me say how impressed I was at the build and design of their interior - absolutely beautiful. Scan their QR code or visit their website to see everything they have on the menu. For drinks - I ordered their Honolulu Haze (9/10) and their It's a Little Hazy (9/10). They were both very good, complemented my food, and left me satisfied. They were served in beautiful glass cups with their logo imprinted on it (pretty dope). For food - I ordered their Bacon & Mushroom Sliders w/ Garlic Truffle Butter (OMG!) and French Fries with Garlic Truffle Butter. It was absolutely delicious. The food tasted phenomenal. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The temperature of the food was hot & fresh. Our service was spectacular. Our waitress was very nice, kind, and helpful. Stopped in whilst on vacation and went to several breweries - this spot was hands down the best!! The beers were so diverse and made with so much thought and flavor - and there were several sours on tap. My favorite!! Additionally, this spot has some incredible food. Dan (the owner) went into great detail about the brewing process, the homemade and well ingredient sourced food, and the history of the spot. I cant recommend this place enough. So go and check them out! We tried 4 beers... 1 - precision radio Pilsner 2 - the floor is guava 3 - strawberry magarita 4 - honey mac nut brown w/ coffee My fav was the floor is guava! It's one of their most popular kettle sours boiled down after 4 days! It reminded me of some of the grapefruit beers I have had. Next fav is their honey mac nut brown w coffee. You can def taste the hint of Honolulu coffee and mac nut in there mixed with a hint of honey sweetness! They also put a lot of thought into their food items as well. Their wings are marinated for 8 hours! We liked the gochujang wings! They make their guac fresh and also make their own cheeses! Their cheese balls are made w a few types of cheese! Ever since they opened, I've heard a lot of good things about this place - and maybe some bad reviews but for reasons like not really a big beer fan. But if you are, this is a cute microbrewery place to go to. And if you are a big fan of mimosas, this is the place to be. In addition with the Smith and Kings food truck outside, this place is a winner for me. The first time I came here was on a Friday night. My friends and I just hung out at the mezzanine floor with the views of the big grain brewing equipments (my fave part of the small microbrewery design) and some artworks from local artists. We probably tried all of the beer flavors and i'm telling you now, if you aren't a big beer fan, don't expect to REALLY taste the flavor because it's just a hint and notes of it and for a beer lover girl, that's good enough! Our server was the manager and he knows great recommendations based on what you're feeling. The second time I came was for Sunday brunch and we went crazy for the mimosa flights! We were here from 11am to 2pm. The crew was so nice and hospitable, never felt unwanted the whole time. Beer is 5 stars. Service is 1 star. This is a small brewery that has minimal sitting down but there is an upstairs area. When we arrived, we stood there for a bit, nobody greeted us. We walked up to the bar and waited and waited nobody greeted us. The young lady working behind the bar was busy filing glasses with beer, but she did not acknowledge us. We stood there and nothing. A young man walked by and smiled. We continued to stand. Then i sat down at only table by entry, young man smiled again. My husband stood at the bar, still nothing, so he finally joined me at the table. Another person comes in and sit down at the bar, he waits. We would have sat at the bar but there was only 1 seat and there is 2 of us. A man comes from the brewery area and greets the guy that sat at bar after us! The young man finally comes over and says bartender will be with us soon. So we wait. Young man keeps smiling, he should have said I am not of age to serve you drinks, we figured that in our own. The young lady has 4 tables which is about 10 people, I get it she is busy. The young man bring us some water. We finally get to order our beer. Service: lacking and really needs improvement or they need more staff to help. Come here and just know that you have to wait and don't be in a rush. The wait is worth it. When ran cut into our plans for the day, we decided to do some brewery hopping. Lokahi was our first stop. We were greeted warmly, and they followed the Covid protocols, which we appreciated. It's a smaller space, but still room for a good crowd. The staff was friendly and helpful, so we definitely felt welcomed. Coming from a big beer city, I am definitely a harsh critic on beer. I went for tasters in order to try several different styles. The Honey Macadamia Nut Brown was my favorite of the 4 I tried, and the Adventurous IPA my least favorite. I was just hoping for a cleaner finish with a little more bitterness on the IPA. Overall my choices were good - just did not blow me away. I only drank beer, but I did appreciate that they had things like mimosas/wine if you want to pull your non beer drinking friends along. I still definitely recommend a stop by. Seems like a solid place that will continue to improve on their beers with more experience! read more

Lokahi Brewing Company is Hawaii's newest and the first in its neighborhood. Located on King Street near the Piikoi Intersection, they have dedicated free parking in the back, overflow around the corner and street parking during non-rush hour times. The brewery is in the old teal Precision Radio building, but has been completely remade. Big windows let in natural light, with high ceilings and open doors to allow fresh air. They have picnic tables outside for people that prefer that, often with rotating food trucks. The bar area offers many seating choices, with small tables along the windows, proper bar seating at the taps, and a loft with various sized tables and views. Art has quickly become a feature to showcase local work. They offer merchandise for purchase as well. As time goes on, they're planning to have many different styles of their own beer, but at opening they had a few other local breweries on tap to round out the selections. So far they've done a couple lagers, IPAs, mac nut brown, and a golden ale. Look for more including new releases in the future! Cool brewery and tap room with a diverse selection of local beers, ciders, cocktails and beers made by them in house. Walking distance from Waikiki so it gets a good crowd of locals and tourists, so if you're a tourist you're just far enough into the local area you don't feel like one but you're just close enough to the beach to remember you're on vacation! Having their own parking lot is a huge bonus. The food all looks beautiful, the bacon wrapped jalapeños are amazing! They have an upstairs mezzanine that's used for open to the public free events almost every night, like quiz nights and comedy nights. What do you do when you don't know what to do with yourself on a Saturday afternoon? Why try a new local brewery, of course! After all, it's 5 o'clock everywhere BUT here. We've had Lokahi on our list for a while now and decided today was the day. We were not disappointed. Absolutely fantastic environment - open, bright, airy with a variety of seating options. They had 8 of their own on tap during our visit and we tried lots of them: tropical lager, Honolulu haze, honey Mac nut brown with kona coffee, on a peach in Hawaii, and their Oktoberfest. All were refreshing and clean on the palate. They have Smith & Kings renting their food truck out back (sadly not open while we were here at 2pm on a Saturday) and Trivia nights on Thursdays at 7pm. They just installed a movie screen and may also host movie nights. Great location, ambiance, beer, and service. We will be back! read more

Ordered their housemade tasting quatro! It is served in order as listed on the menu. Starting on the left with the POSITIVE VIBES LAGER... Positive vibes lager- yum! Refreshing, bit citrusy...clean and light. HOLOHOLO Hefeweizen- if you like Hefeweizens, this one may be considered on the light side. It so heavy. HONEY MACADAMIA NUT BROWN- coffee under tones. I liked this dark beer. Honolulu Haze- like a sour. It's tangy bitter. Overall, we liked the lager the best as it hit the spot after a long day of work. I thought the 4 housemade beers were smart choices to open their brewery with. I am excited to try their future brews!!!!! Inviting my fellow beer peeps to come on down to LOKAHI Brewery. We really enjoyed our beer tastings! We will definitely return! Downside: NO AIR CON! During this pandemic, maybe it's a good thing. Liked the high ceilings with ceiling fans and the atmosphere is cozy. No food service here but there is a food truck parked out back. It is easily accessible from the bottom floor to back of building. This is an outside vendor and not associated with Lokahi. Next time, we will definitely try the food truck! Service: The service was excellent. The girl was very attentive and always checked on us. Even though there was only one waitress for the whole area when we were there she was on it. Food: Surprisingly the food tasted delicious. Iwasn't expecting that from such a small Restaurant. We got 2 sliders and fries which tasted delicious and perfect to share with 2 people. We went on a Wednesday night which is their Trivia night. Their Trivia night was a little slow but it was a lot of fun. I don't understand why you have to wait 15 minutes between each break LOL. This place is a little small but I would recommend you come here if you're looking for somewhere to have a couple of drinks and a good pupu. read more
