Good food, okay service. I stood at the host stand for quite a while with the rest of my party while we waited for a host to ever notice us. Finally, got seated and a server eventually came by. The pepperoni rolls are delicious as always. We tried the paniolo burger (excellent) and the It's a Gouda burger (good, but I couldn't really taste the aioli or the Gouda). The mac salad on the side is fairly good although I prefer Zippy's because it's more flavorful. Kona's is a bit on the bland side. I got an itty bitty beer to go with my drink and didn't realize that the 5 ounce pour was basically the size of one of their little taster flight beers, but it's $4.25, where the 10 ounce is $6.25. Kind of wish my server had pointed out the 10 ounce is a better value, but they were extremely casual and seemed pretty distracted the whole time, so I don't think they thought to mention it. The 15% off for kama'aina makes the food a better deal. A nice place for a bite to eat and to try some interesting beers and seltzers on tap. read more

My first visit to this restaurant was unfortunately a very disappointing experience from the moment we walked in. My partner and I had just finished a long hike and were excited to relax, enjoy a good meal, and watch the World Cup game. When we arrived, we approached the host stand to put our name on the waitlist. Instead of being greeted with a smile or any sense of hospitality, the host, Sarah, came across as very snarky, dismissive, and unwelcoming. She informed us there would be approximately a 45-minute wait, which we completely understood and were happy to accept. While waiting, we stood near the bar area so we could watch the World Cup match. Despite standing there for around 25 minutes, not a single bartender or employee acknowledged us, offered a menu, or even greeted us. Eventually, after about 30 minutes of waiting, a table in the bar area became available. Since it was empty, we sat down, assuming it was open. Within moments, the host approached us with the same rude attitude and told us that table was being held for another party. We politely asked to speak with a manager. Rather than responding professionally, she visibly rolled her eyes before going to get one, which only reinforced how unwelcome we felt. When the manager arrived, the interaction was equally disappointing. He never asked us what had happened or tried to understand our perspective. Instead, he immediately apologized and reiterated that the table was reserved for another waiting party. We didn't want to cause a scene, so we simply moved to another available bar table. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the original table they insisted was reserved remained empty the entire time afterward. No one was ever seated there while we watched. It left us questioning why such a rigid stance was taken over a seating arrangement that appeared easily manageable. The issue was never about having to move tables. We understand restaurants get busy and that hosts have to manage seating. The problem was the complete lack of hospitality, communication, and customer service. From the host's attitude and eye-rolling to the manager's unwillingness to listen before making a decision, we felt like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. As first-time customers, first impressions matter. We arrived excited to enjoy our evening, but instead left feeling ignored, dismissed, and genuinely unwelcome. A little kindness, professionalism, and a willingness to communicate could have completely changed this experience. Unfortunately, that's not what we received. read more

This is a cool restaurant close to the water. Its open air and just a casual place to kickback. I Never even knew it existed. It in koko marina shopping center in the back side closer to the marina. If you just drive through the parking lot you will miss it. If you park behind the service station and just walk towards the marina you will see it. A hidden chill spot for sure. It must be in the tourists books because there was a lot of tourists. The insides is not airconditioned but had a nice breeze blowing through the open air patio. I give the 5th star again because the pizza and dishes are way improved. Great amount of toppings, the choices to add/swap-out ingredients and the yummy pizza dough is now addictive. Friendly hostesses, bartenders and servers here. A lot of longtime and familiar workers. Beautiful views of the harbor. Wednesday evenings have live music with BOOGIE playing a wide variety of songs on his selection of guitars. A must see/listen! Goes without saying, but I will. Wife and I came for lunch on a Tuesday early afternoon and enjoyed our time. We were greeted fairly promptly and seated right away and our server, Matt C, did an excellent job. He heard us say we're probably going to share our meals and he offered to have our sandwich and burger cut in half for us. Nice touch. Strongly suggest not getting the sautéed veggies as your side. They are very over cooked and flooded with garlic. Also weird they don't have fries, ie no deep frier. Kettle chips were the way to go with our sandwiches. Seating faces Mauka and towards the main harbor for a pleasent view with the trade winds blowing in your face. Overall, we always enjoy our time when we come here and will be back. read more

Came here on a Monday that happened to be a holiday, and the service was extremely slow. Even when the drinks came out, they were mixed up and given to the wrong people at the table. We waited at least 20 minutes between drinks and ordering our food, it felt like we had to look out for our waitress just to get an order in. Food-wise, I got the sliders, the sliders were good, but I honestly didn't understand the pickle placed on top of the bun instead of inside very odd. The waitress asked if I wanted cheese on the slider which I replied yes, but the portion of the cheese was so little, it was easy to miss. My friend ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp and nachos. The Caesar salad was alright, I did really like the nachos though. They were good and a huge portion, so that was a plus for sharing. We split the tab, the waitress added a drink that someone else's on my tab, which was frustrating to catch at the end. The ambiance is nice though it's right in the water which I love. Overall, the food was decent, but the service issues really took away from the experience. It wasn't even that busy inside so not sure what the hold up was. Came here after work just in time for their happy hour from 3-6pm. It was also Wednesday and they had Kama'aina Wednesdays which offered 15% off all food items! We were seated outside on the patio right next to the docks. It was nice and breezy with a stunning sunset view. Service was friendly and attentive, the staff kept our waters filled and made sure we always had a drink. Our server got a few of our orders wrong but quickly fixed it when we brought it to her attention. Overall, the food was decent but the nachos were disappointing. The chips were stale and had barely any cheese on it. The cheese was also dry and hard so you couldn't really scoop it up. It seemed like it could've been sitting out for awhile too. Surprisingly, the best item were the pizza rolls on their happy hour menu. It came out warm and crispy, definitely a fave for the table. For a very busy place, a experienced waitress was polite and took 12 individual orders on separate checks...awesome! I had the beet salad with added shrimp and avocados. The balsamic vinegar and oil really kicked up the greens, halved tomatoes that gave a sweetness and slightly tart. It grabs your palate! Shrimp was charred and well seasoned. A beautiful location sitting right at waterside in Hawaii Kai. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm, and there was a line outside the door. It took about 15-20 minutes before we were called to our table, but we got seated in about pretty nice spot, just inside the patio. We could see the water and the boats outside, but still feel the a/c at our seats. The food and service overall were okay; nothing over the top. I has wanted to get the Burger of the Week, but our server said they ran out of the sauce (wth? Can't they make more?), so I settled for the regular Koko Burger. It was okay, but I really wanted to try the Korean style burger. We also ordered the nachos and Caesar salad as apps to share, along with a pizza and a Keiki Quesadilla for the baby. A couple of beers down and the food came just in time to quiet down the baby, who was starving. The food was alright, as was the service. We fell in love with Kona Brewing years ago and their Kona location is one of our favorite spots. Of course, when we visited O'ahu we had to visit the Kona Brewing here. It definitely has a different vibe, but the same great tasting beer. It's located at the Koko Marina Center amongst other businesses and right on the water. The restaurant is more modern than its Kona counterpart and there's plenty of air conditioning and air flow as it sits right on the water. There's still the Kona Brewing personality with art everywhere and they have a merch store with some fun shirts, growlers, stickers and more. Since it's on the water, they have covered open air seating with beautiful views of the water and nearby scenery. There's plenty of seating, including a very large bar with seating on three sides. The team is friendly here and we had great experiences during both of our visits. The bar does have tvs and it's a full bar so it can get a little louder if something exciting is on. Our favorite thing to order is the pepperoni rolls, but everything on the menu pairs well either the beers. They offer fish, burgers, salads, sandwiches, tacos, and pizza. While the original in Kona will remain our favorite, we'll definitely be back anytime we're on O'ahu. read more

Excellent Burgers. We've stopped in for burgers and wings at least four times in the last two months. How I wish they would roast some potatoes to serve with the burgers. I get white rice as my aide and enjoy that with the wings. We order them plain and they are seasoned nicely. Enjoyed the fish a couple times, the sauce is really delicious. But the price keeps me from ordering it often. I can't stand the birds inside the dining area. It's a big airy indoor patio. All the servers are solid but Dalton gave us the best service. The pizza was about average overall. If you're someone brave enough to do the Koko trail and complete it, this spot is definitely worth eating at to relax. Views are great and plenty of space. Came across this brewery and saw that it was happy hour. I ordered both the happy hour items which were pua pork tacos and the pepperoni rolls. I had an interesting view on the tacos as they weren't what I was expecting, comparing it to tacos I get in San Diego. The tortillas weren't as I liked due to the texture, but the combination with shredded pork and pineapple made up for it. As for the pepperoni rolls, it was as expected and great bite especially when drinking. I was able to taste (4) drinks they had on draft. I would say that out of those, I would have to get, "Dukes." Dukes had a unique taste that I didn't have drinking in Waikiki. I also couldn't locate Dukes anywhere else. Lastly, service was great and the hospitality was amazing. Fabulous evening, our server Chris was excellent, he offered suggestions that made our dinner perfect! (Thats saying a lot, since we've been eating here for 17 years) I had a side of hot grilled chicken breast (perfectly cooked, moist & flavorful) w/ the Beet Salad w/candied walnuts & blue cheese w/balsamic dressing and a side order of Mac Salad. My hubby had the Gouda Burger (usually I order it, its the BEST Burger on the island) w/ extra side of pickles and Konas Kua Bay Beer. He also Ordered a side of their potato chips for a light starter, loved it! Chris thankfully noticed I had trouble choosing a drink, and asked me what I like, I said something Caffeine free and no sugar.... he explained Kolea Sparkling Hop Waters (3 flavors, I choose Papaya) and now Im hooked, thank you Chris!! What is there not to love, you're sitting on water of a boat Harbor, drinking the best tasting beer I've ever had "Kona Light" and eating the most delicious Sirloin Steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, topped off with a super delicious green house made sauce of some kind! You can ask for more veggies less mashed potatoes for no extra price, it's never a problem. And after you've had your 5 star steak you get the bill and it's only $28 if you live in hawaii and $32 for visitors. You simply cannot beat that. The whole experience is amazing!! read more

I enjoyed my outdoor dining experience here with my best friend and my partner. I kept it simple with a spicy margarita, and what really drew me in were the Yelp photos of the pizza rolls! It was a light meal in a nice outdoor space, and I also liked browsing the cute merch they had available for purchase. Unfortunately, the nachos my partner ordered were a bit stale, but we didn't complain, we just wanted a relaxed dinner to end another night of exploring Hawai'i like we usually do. One opportunity for improvement would be the outdoor seating. The plastic chairs weren't the most comfortable and felt a bit constricting, especially if you're on the heavier side. Thankfully, the server was super kind and accommodating, and helped move me to a more open and stable seat inside the dining room, which I really appreciated. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the overall ambiance. The restaurant is right by the water, and at night, it's especially pretty with the glow of outdoor lights. You are looking for the perfect relaxing lunch spot with great food look no further. This brewery backs up right to the harbor. The view from the table was majestic. Our waitress was very courteous and quick. She quickly grabbed our order since we were on vacation. We opted to try out some of the local beer. We ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich, the Cobb salad and the nachos- all were extremely large person sizes which left us nice and full. The food was very tasty. The view was even better. Only the downside is the birds do you like to join you as an extra guest - wonderful experience would come back here again. It's about the experience and what you make of it. This is a place where the server doesn't hand you a beer and say "here you go," they say "cheers." There's a difference. Went on a Tuesday at around 6:30 pm. It was somewhat busy still since there was trivia, and we had about a 10-15 minute wait which wasn't bad. Was sat down and was able to see the view of the water which was nice. I decided to get the fish tacos. Food came out super fast, probably within 5 minutes it came to our table. Although this was amazing, I felt like it was weird it was ordered and to us so quickly. It makes me speculate things are frozen and easily heated up? I got my fish tacos, which came with a side of mac salad. Although it was plated fine, the taste was just not good... at all. It was completely lacking flavor and seasoning. The fish tasted like literally nothing. I was highly dissatisfied especially since it was pretty pricy. The Mac salad was average but also lacking flavor and needed salt. We stopped by Kona Brewing hoping to watch a football game and relax. There were very few tvs available to watch, except for at the bar. Despite that, the view outside was beautiful and very peaceful. While we did not get any food, we got a Mai Tai that was not the best. When comparing to other Mai Tais tried on the island, this one does not compare. Even without comparison, the Mai Tai itself was still not good. From there, we decided to leave as we weren't able to watch any tv and likely werent going to enjoy the food either if we ordered it. I wouldn't recommend checking out Kona Brewing, especially with lots of other options for drinks and other breweries available that one can try and relax at. read more

One of my friends loved this brewing company, so I figure I had to stop by while in Hawaii. I also wanted to simply drown in beer as I just hiked Koko Head Trail (IYKYK). Their flight option is $15 where you can pick 4 different beers, which they give you in 5 ounce glasses each. Instead of serving it to you on a paddle, they have this placemat of all the beers that they brew with descriptions of each underneath. They place the glass on top of the respective beers that you order, which I found unique and cool. They had one porter, which they were sold out of, bummer. So I got their Gold Cliff IPA (hint of pineapple), Hanalei Island IPA (passionfruit, mango, and guava), Koko Brown (toasted coconut), and Kua Bay IPA. Koko Brown was my favorite of the four. We also got an order of the Uncle's Ahi Poke ($24) with rice (+$2), which is one of their best sellers, to snack on. Pretty refreshing and did it's job to fill us up a bit, but not ruin our appetite. Service is pretty good. They have a nice marina view right on the water, which we were not expecting, so make sure to request a seat there if you're into that stuff. Pigeon do invite themselves inside and scavenge. There's a souvenir shop, but overpriced. read more
