    Chop Salad ($21) + Tofu ($4)

Walking through the South Shore Market and looking for a bite to eat, we stumbled across Off the Wall and there was quite a crowd so we asked how long the wait would be. No wait for our party of 2, and we were sat immediately at a high top communal style table. It is a bar type establishment, with pour your own beers and wines on the wall. Not super noisy, but everyone was having their conversations and having a great time. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and food walking past us looked amazing! The only difference to this establishment was instead of a server taking our order, we were instructed to go to the front podium to place the order when we were ready. We opted for the Fried Calamari with Cilantro Lime Aioli to start, and ordered the Chop Salad with Tofu and the Verde Bowl. The food came out so quickly, and we were actually surprised with the portion sizes for all the dishes. We were able to share the salad and bowl and still had enough to pack a take out box. Everything was delicious! I'm sure it can get busy on the weekends, but overall seems like a nice place to chill with good food, good drinks and good conversation. Wish we had more time to hang out!

This spot was great. The barbacoa tacos were absolutely incredible I would get them again any day! I also enjoyed the few ciders/sours/meads I tasted. Service was wonderful too. My only thing is I wish they had more options for taps. They have plenty especially for a single visit but if I were to keep going back (which I want to for the tacos), I've already tried all the things I wanted to in one visit. Location is also great with lots of fun stores to browse!

Overall, good place to take a break while in Ward/South Shore. Choice of beers, excellent variety! Food was okay. Bar environment was great. For food, the papas bravas and tomato bisque could use some tweaking. The portions were great, but the taste was underwhelming. I felt that papas bravas were fried well but had very little seasoning, just a pinch more of coarse salt would have been just enough to complement the aioli. The tomato bisque had good potential, but the soup was more on the acidic side. Something to make it more neutralized, like a bit more fats or oil proportions might be more appetizing. It wasn't bad, but noticeable when I think of other tomato bisques. However, Brussels sprouts were spot on and an excellent bar food for the night! And of course, the best part is always the great choice of beers on tap! I'm partial to Beer Lab hawaii and am always glad to try just enough beer from the wall for new things.

If you're hanging out at South Shore Market, you *have* to check out Off the Wall--located right on the ground floor with tons of easy parking in the structure (huge plus for Kakaʻako). The drink selection is stacked: beers on tap, seltzers, mimosas--most featuring awesome local companies. The food does not miss either... those massive potato wedge fries (basically patatas bravas) are a must. Definitely come with friends and order a bunch to share. Quick heads up: they'll hold a card to start your tab, but you can close out with cash if you want. Service was super hospitable and helpful, and the vibe is a whole mood--cool, moody, and perfectly chilled since it's connected inside South Shore Market. Plus, you're surrounded by other food spots and boutiques within walking distance. Love it here

I love coming here to try new beers. A lot of my favorite breweries have ciders and beers here. I like the self pour concept the most. Most times when I want to drink, but not a full beer I will suggest this place to my friends. They have beer, ciders, and wine. You check in with your ID and card at the front and they give you a "beer card" for your self-pour. Prices are reasonable but food is on the pricier side. I like the ambience. They have indoor and outdoor seating. This place is also dog friendly. Sometimes their projector will be operating with mainly football playing. I recommend this place if you're into beers! Parking is easy and located in the South Shore Market Place.

Love the food and service here! The Papas Bravas are always so consistent and delicious. Make sure you get the Cilantro Lime Aioli to go with it

Our first time here. Located in South Shore Market on the Diamond Head side - it's across the street from Panya and Tango's. Free parking in South Shore garage. Hostess takes our credit card first then issues us their own cards to use for each tap. There are only high tables with stools inside. Regular height tables are outside inside the mall, or outside on street. Seat yourself and start trying beer, wine or make your own mimosas. The card they give you is placed on the tap, it will light up green, then you may pull tap. Once you stop pouring, the screen at tap will show ounces you poured and the cost. This automatically gets billed to the charge card you left with hostess. We tried all kinds of beer- loved the local ones like Guava Lava, Strawberry Shaved Ice, but hubby enjoyed his IPAs and Hefe. I tried the Russian River white wine but wasn't at the temperature I prefer, so mixed myself a mimosa from the Prosecco tap and orange juice tap! Ono!! When you wish to order food, and you will, head to the same hostess stand and she punches in the order for you, will then bring to your table with napkins and cutlery. She was very good and made sure we were doing okay. Food- We ordered the right things! Calamari was the best I'd ever had, the right flavor, crunch without too much, and perfect size. The ahi nachos were awesome and thrilled with plentiful chunks of ahi with a surprise of caviar topping! The chicken wings were nice fat tender ones with choice of sauce. Then we needed sweets and they have several desserts so we loved the churros all cut up with choc sauce and side of fruit with whipped cream. The experience was fun - trying all the beers was something hubby loved and the food was a definite win! So much so that we ordered the fried chicken sandwiches to take home for dinner! Also yum!!

Great place to meet up with friends before or after exploring the Kaka'ako District. There's limited seating but sports a wall full of self-service taps from beer, wine, ciders and more. Everything is sold by the ounce and each pour gets automatically measured and added to your tab. This small restaurant has a large menu, but I didn't get a chance to try the food on this stop.

Tasty burger, amazing potatoes, but they were out of gluten free buns. Beer and wine on tap, love the ability to take small sample pours of new wines.

Been here a few times since moving to the area. Good location at Ward Village. Plenty of parking if you need it. Cool concept of being able to pour your own drinks. Good selections of drinks and food . Happy hour is not bad either. Drinks are self serve. Nice chill bar/lounge ambiance. Outdoor seating is available as well.

    George A.

Unique concept--self pour taps and pay by the ounce. You get a card when you come in and put it on the tap you select and pour your beer. It tracks how much and keeps a running total til your done. I liked it that I could try just a taste of a beer before pouring a whole glass. And the food was excellent too!

First time here and we were hungry! Ordered the poke nachos & Brussel sprouts. Let me say the cashier/host/server Scott was excellent, friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the wonton chips for the nachos were perfectly cooked however, horribly over salted with flaky sea salt! Absolutely awful, my friend and I were so bummed because this dish was really excellent with both green and black tobiko and the poke quality was amazing! The brussel sprouts were crispy and quite good, but also a little too salty for my taste but otherwise crispy and good bacon bits! The space was clean and air-conditioned and we really liked being able to try whatever beers we wanted at whatever amount we chose. Great variety of beers on tap!

Came on the evening of Valentine's Day. It was fairly crowded but the staff were amazing and attentive. It was our first time going but the host did an amazing job showing us the ropes and getting us seated. We had a reservation, so we were able to sit away from the bar seating area. The food was great and served quickly. My favorite were the fries! If you're looking for a casual date spot, this is your place. You can't go wrong with live music and good eats!

Unfortunately, something has changed recently and you can see it throughout recent reviews here, which tells me this is a taught practice by management and not just one shady server. Mainly, being up charged or sold "extras" without disclosing they're actually add ons. Our table of 4 had 3 different sandwiches, 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich. While ordering the server offered each of us, "would you like fries, onion rings, or salad with that?" There was no disclosure of it being additional, and she never used the words add ons or extras. When the bill was received, all 3 that received the sandwiches and "sides" were shocked to see upcharges (example $5.00 extra for 1/4 cup of greens and 2 slices of cucumber) when we were being offered these with our orders. When I asked the server about the charge, I asked why it wasn't disclosed it was extra, and that we only answered her question of which side we wanted because she offered as if it was included, her responses were baffling. The first was "There's nowhere on island that serves fries with a sandwich", to which I said, "but you didn't say it was extra, you offered them as if they were included", she said "it's written on the menu". To note: fries, onion rings, and side salads are listed on the menu, in their own section, separate from the sandwich sections. So while it is written, they know exactly what they're doing when they offer you sides or sauces, and you can see other recent reviews here making the same complaint. This left an extra bad taste for our table as we had come in to help support them after the recent tropical storm left them without power. We were excited to participate in a local event they were hosting and help support them after losing stock and days being closed from the storm, just to have this shady process of being upsold things we didn't order (on a $350+ bill that also included shirts from their merch store). Scuzzy way of thanking your community for coming in and patronizing your restaurant. Really disappointed after years of Hana Koa being my favorite place.

Unfortunately, Lokahi Brewing's food missed the mark for me. Their brews were not bad, but there are other breweries in town that I prefer over Lokahi. I tried 4 different ones, and my favorite was the FLOOR IS GUAVA. Here's all the food we got: LOKAHI NACHOS w/ BIRRIA MEAT ($23) [3/5] - Portion was decent for $23, but the chips ran stale and there was uneven distribution of cheese and toppings throughout the nachos. Literally, one side had all the cheese and toppings. The birria meat didn't really taste of the classic Mexican spices that makes birria so good, it felt more like pulled pork. It was also dry. FRIED PICKLES ($10?) [2/5] - This was SO SALTY. I didn't really taste the tang of the pickles, felt like it was squeezed out of all its juice. It was ultimately just chips with a ton of salt. I downed two cups of water trying to finish these. Ultimately, I would come back to Lokahi Brewing for their shows and a brew or two, but I'll eat at home or elsewhere first before coming.

There was a great spread of food (sliders, Mac & cheese, Caesar salad, and pizza and a huge selection of beers and non-alcoholic beverages. Great turnout, including KITV who was covering the election outcomes. The waitstaff were great and they offered suggestions of what beers to drink, depending on your taste. Got to meet the owner, Michael, who was on available throughout the event. Nice guy and very customer-oriented. The fact that this place is only a block from where I live is no excuse to go back, now that I've had a taste of what they have to offer. Oh yeah, Michael mentioned having seasonal beers when I asked if they could make a Snakebite (Guinness & Cider). Oh boy!!

OVERALL Kalihi Beer was a hit with me! The patrons were awesome, prices were comparable, service very friendly, beers were tasty but wished they had more variety, and the food options were very limited. This was also a family and pet-friendly (events on certain nights) place. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $145.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Finally, got seated and a server eventually came by. The pepperoni rolls are delicious as always. We tried the paniolo burger (excellent) and the It's a Gouda burger (good, but I couldn't really taste the aioli or the Gouda). The mac salad on the side is fairly good although I prefer Zippy's because it's more flavorful. Kona's is a bit on the bland side. I got an itty bitty beer to go with my drink and didn't realize that the 5 ounce pour was basically the size of one of their little taster flight beers, but it's $4.25, where the 10 ounce is $6.25. Kind of wish my server had pointed out the 10 ounce is a better value, but they were extremely casual and seemed pretty distracted the whole time, so I don't think they thought to mention it. The 15% off for kama'aina makes the food a better deal. A nice place for a bite to eat and to try some interesting beers and seltzers on tap.

A Sad Decline of What Used to Be a Hawaii Kai Institution…read more It honestly saddens me to write this review because I have been coming to Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii Kai regularly for years. Kona used to be a place where the community gathered--locals would stop in for a drink, grab some food, catch up with friends, and enjoy the atmosphere. It was a thriving neighborhood restaurant and bar that felt like a true part of the Hawaii Kai community. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years, I have watched a noticeable decline in service, food, atmosphere, and management. On my recent visit, I was struck by how empty the bar was. This used to be a place that was bustling with locals and regular customers. Many of the people I used to see there regularly have simply gone elsewhere. The menu is a fraction of what it used to be, with far fewer choices and portions that seem considerably smaller. For an establishment of this size and reputation, the current menu is disappointing and doesn't offer the variety or value I remember. The service has also suffered. Some longtime bartenders seem less interested in customer satisfaction than they once were. I can't say whether that is a reflection of management, staffing issues, or declining morale, but there certainly seems to be a disconnect between the people working there and the customers they're supposed to be serving. When employees don't feel supported or appreciated by management, unfortunately, the customers often feel the effects. And then there's the ambience. Kona used to have an energy--a feeling that you were walking into a neighborhood gathering place. That feeling has largely disappeared. I don't write this review because I want to see Kona fail. Quite the opposite. I remember when Kona Brewing Company was a thriving part of our community, and I would love nothing more than to see it return to that level of service, quality, and community spirit. There are still good people there, and I believe the establishment has tremendous potential. But something needs to change. Management needs to listen to the longtime customers and the employees, take a hard look at what has changed, and find a way to bring back the Kona that Hawaii Kai used to love. It's genuinely sad to watch the decline of what was once such a fine establishment and an important gathering place for our community
