Best Mexican food I ever had. This place was a 8 minute walk on the beach from my resort. I was staying in Mexico for 5 days and the resort I was staying at food wasn't doing it for me. Plenty of restaurants on the resort but everything was just not the best. Was recommended this place from the excursion guy in my hotel and I was happy to find this place, cause the food was 10/10. After the first few days of my stay, I didn't know if the bacon was lizard and the best thing for me to eat in the resort was fruit. The fruit was always the freshest you can get and amazing, but fruit won't fill you up. I found myself taking a few bites of anything I tried and just throwing it out. After my second night of coming across this place, me and my girlfriend ate here everyday for dinner. Would of did lunch and dinner but made no sense paying for food when I was in a all inclusive resort. Came and ordered Al pastor tacos, steak tacos, and a chicken quesadilla. The pork on the Al pastor tacos were amazing and fresh. Steak tacos were amazing and the quesadillas was fresh and vibrant. Hands down the best Mexican food I ever tried. Also the fish tacos were amazing and these pork torta I tried. Everything was fresh and this place was awesome. Right on the beach with beautiful views of the ocean it's breath taking. Also the have a great selection of beers and authentic Mexican beer. I highly recommend if your staying in Tulum or Akumal. Been to the snack bar and experienced the beach club. The snack bar was good. Great service and the food more Tex-Mex. My wife loved her chicken enchiladas covered in red sauce and cheese, I liked the burrito stuffed with beef, the shrimp tacos were tempura battered and nice on flour tortillas, and lastly the chilaquiles were good. Good margaritas. The beach club is also nice. Great beach location with 10 palapas to sit under. You have full service with chairs, bathrooms and showers, lockers, and able to order from snack bar and run a tab. Base for all is 600 pesos per palapa regardless of number of chairs. I ate here out of convenience and had zero expectation as this is a very Americanized establishment in the middle of Akumal beach. I had a Prime rib French dip sandwich and hibiscus tea. The food was not as bad as I thought. The sandwich would have been perfect if it didn't come on a burger bun. The hibiscus tea was very refreshing and delicious. Pronounced Lola - make a note of it! After visiting another so-called 5 star establishment the night before, I was definitely skeptical going into this one. It's Easter, lots of places are closed, or closing early. Lo-Ha was open and from the moment we sat down the entire experience was memorable. Beautiful table set up outside, sun setting and gorgeous ocean view. Our server, David, was very helpful and friendly. He suggested menu items and promptly brought our drinks and was very attentive. We shared the empanadas appetizer - soooo frickin' amazing. I had the grouper fish dish with butter and jalapeño with steamed vegetables. Best fish I had this trip. Minas is the Spanish name for grouper, if you find it on an all Spanish menu - its local and so very good. My BF had the tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes, was also so amazing and presented beautifully. We decided to go all the way with this dinner and had the table side bananas foster and Mayan flaming coffee. What a treat! This spot doesn't disappoint, I'll be back multiple times to try the entire menu. So happy with this place after having a less than stellar experience at La Lunita the night before. Best chilaquiles ever! I couldn't even fully wait to take a picture before eating them. We stayed at the hotel for a week, so I ate here about 10+ times. The breakfast is next level (try the chilaquiles or huevos motuleños) but their lunch game is strong too. Breakfast and dinner are over at the main restaurant - and feel a little more dressed up than lunch/snacks/happy hour (which there technically is no happy hour special) over at the outside bar. The food at the outside bar ranges from local Mexican food to bar food, with an emphasis on seafood cocktails, ceviche, aguachile and the like. I loved the shrimp tacos and the ceviche! Dinner has some amazing selections as well - I gravitated to the chile relleno. It was super simple but executed perfectly. Can't wait to come back. read more

The Family and I are currently in Akumal MX on vacation. It is a nice tropical location just 90 mins south of the touristy resort taste of Cancun... While here I have been to 2 of the 3 local restaurants, and felt compelled to write them up starting with Lol-Ha. To set everyone's expectation, Lol-Ha is not just a restaurant. It is 3 things in one, a nice sit down restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also has a beach bar and restaurant and a private beach area to rent a shaded thatch covered area as well as open beach with plenty of sun. To rent a private thatch is about $10 USD per person. I would recommend eat breakfast there and getting a private thatch. The reason is you need to get there early (before 10:00am) to beat the crowds. They provide a full menu and drinks in the both the thatch area and beach bar. The food... it is good authentic Mexican with a variety of fantastic classic selections...like huevos rancheros... We did not have any bad meals, (Oatmeal with rice milk, Diablo Eggs Benedict, Mexican Ham and Cheese Omelet). To me though, the highlight was the orange juice, the best fresh squeezed orange juice I have ever had. Finally, the food at breakfast was very good, but the service was better. All the staff were exemplary, especially the floor manager. Very polite, and had very good control of the front of the house. This is why it got a 4 star rating. I always appreciate great service over great food, that is why we go out, as many of us can make great food at home. Now for dinner, the ambiance was great with the jazz musician playing. The service at dinner was equally if not better as breakfast. The food was nothing short of fantastic. The Cesar and the Blue Cheese Cob Salads tasted great and wonderful presentations. The menu had a nice and extensive coverage of pasta, meats and sea food. I highly recommend the Sea Bass and Coconut Curry Shrimp. The place is simply fantastic. read more

It's a special and you can only get it that day, but it's worth a special trip! If it's not a Saturday, everything else is great. Ate here twice during my stay. You must tell the guard you're going to Lol-ha to get free parking at the restaurant. Servers were friendly and attentive. View was excellent and prices ok. I had the salmon salad twice. Very tasty but suspect I got food poisoning the second time. I was the only one in my group of seven that got sick but the only one who had salad. Lost an entire day + second day just feeling weak, exhausted and dehydrated due to severe intestinal illness. Be careful what you order. read more

We stopped here for lunch after an amazing swim at the nearby cenote. This restaurant overlooks a gorgeous beach. I started taking photos as soon as we sat down, and kinda spaced out and forgot that I needed to order food (lol). Besides the view, the food is REALLY good. I had the chicken tacos and guacamole. They were delicious! The service was amazing as well. We came kinda early, and the waitstaff was having a pre-lunch service meeting near the entrance. Hard to find their parking lot if you are in Akumal with a car so if you don't find it, you can park in one of the two parking places downtown (you will have to pay as they won't accept this restaurants validation). After parking follow the signs to restaurant. Gave this place 4 stars because of parking situation and two "glitches" in the descriptions of menu items...I ordered the Shrimp Diablo as I love seafood and I love spicy, what I got was bacon wrapped shrimp on fettuccine alfredo with absolutely NO heat! This is a good, reliable place to eat. Nice and free parking, easy menu, and great view. While we tried to eat at unique and authentic restaurants and less tourist, this one is in between and good for a change. The patio is covered so we are here when it was drizzling and that was great to still eat with the view. Fish and shrimp tacos are excellent. From the moment we arrived the staff seemed annoyed. We asked to have a couple of tables put together for a larger group which, apparently, was a huge inconvenience. We all were seated and ordered, that's when the dirty looks started. Our server, among other staff, kept shooting us looks and rolling eyes. It was extremely uncomfortable... dinner with my family was ruined and we felt unwelcome... and the food was only ok. Maybe this restaurant just feels like they will get business no matter what, being in a tourist location and that's what caused the HORRIBLE service.... but I wish I could have saved my money and my family the terrible experience. read more

This is a beautiful place to come and enjoy the ocean, maybe drink a couple of cocktails. As for food, go somewhere else. We ordered the ceviche and it tasted like plastic and the shrimp was chewy which means it's old. My boyfriend ordered the club sandwich and the chicken was extremely dry. I am compelled to write another review about this establishment and their personnel. My family and I have stayed here at Hotel Akumal Caribe many times over the past several years. And I can not say enough about the staff here. All very friendly and welcoming. Lol-Ha restaurant and snack bar are incredible. Food is excellent thanks to Chef Irving. The waiters one and all give such spectacular service to their guests, you can not find any better service than here at Lol-Ha. All due to the leadership of Miguel and Carlos. Any requests that we had ever make these fine men have tried their best to accomplish. Both always with a smile on their face, willing to accommodate. Rafael and Oscar behind the bar mixing and serving the best of drinks. It is a pleasure to say that you are the best crew and staff ever in my experiences. Beautiful location. We caught the beach full of grass sea weed, but we were able to find a couple of spot with clean water to bathe in the ocean. Getting a couple of beach chairs from Lol Ha beach club ($300 pesos) turned out to be a better deal than to leave the car parked far from the beach ($50-$100 pesos) and have to pay the beach admission of $100pesos per person. Getting the beach chairs will get you a bracelet which you can use for bathroom and showers without paying extra.Showers were outdoors in plain view but there were changing cabins right next to them. There's is nice restaurant on the beach front.We weren't at the beach for too long so we decided to snack on a large pizza ($255 pesos) which was very tasty. Overall staff was friendly, car location seemed super secure and the many palm trees right on the beach give you sought after shadow on a sunny day. read more

We stopped here for breakfast on our second day in Akumal. Honestly we were super impressed by the food and the service and were absolutely blown away by the location. The Eggs Bennedict Diablo and Eggs Benedict Charlene were both excellent. The kids had pancakes with mango and nuts, which was very good. And our service was excellent(although there were only 2-3 occupied tables on the patio). We would definitely go back for breakfast and based on the first stop we would try it for dinner. I've been reading reviews of this place for months in preparation for our trip to akumal! It's soooo yummy. The first day I had the chicken wrap (didn't get photos) delicious!!!! Hubby got shrimp tacos - not so good. Very battered and then in a tortilla with a tiny bit of sauce (skip it). But the next night I got the chicken torta!!!! Yummy in the tummy with flavors. They give you three half/fold tortillas, which is a good portion. Amazing pico de gallo and chips are complimentary with a food purchase (or enough drinks). As a side note... I ate here years ago (perhaps under different name and ownership) and it is even better now. They provide free tickets to an otherwise paid WC/Banos out back... just ask your server. read more
