Let me preface this review with the fact that we arrived for dinner on the night Mexico was playing their third game in the World Cup. The place was PACKED! We selected the restaurant because we were in search of shrimp cocktail and this place was recommended on Yelp. However there was no shrimp cocktail on the menu ?? Ultimately we didn't care at all - two of us shared a seafood tower and swore our allegiance to this place forever! It was that good. I also had my first apple martini and it is now my favorite of all the martinis The beer, when ordered in multiples, is served in an ice bucket. We came for lunch. Nice place; it's like a garden.the day we came was beautiful weather so it was ok to sit outside. They also have an area with shade but it is also open. We order the tostada de camarón, oater shot, tacos de carne asada and tacos jober. Everything was delicious and the prices unbeatable for this area in Playa. After having a delicious lunch here last year, we decided to try this again. We were just walking by not knowing that they had breakfast. We went in and sat in a scenic and colorful courtyard. After starting with delicious, freshly squeezed juice, we were overwhelmed by the amount of food that we received. My partner had a sweet roll, fruit plate and granola all of which were delicious. Staff is super friendly and the guacamole is delicious. Generally I wish they focused less on the aesthetics of the food and more on the flavor. The grilled fish was pretty good, but the rubbery purple slaw on top had to be picked off. The side veggies were a miss. The fajitas were okay, but the side of beans served in the cute tortilla cup were cold and runny. Prices were en par with other nearby restaurants--reasonable for tourists and too expensive for locals. AWFUL I wish I could give this place 0 stars. To start, drinks took 30mins to come out and our food took 2 hours to get to our table. Each item was brought out to us in increments of 10-15mins. This is where it gets bad: We ordered 2 appetizers and they came out AFTER 3 different entrées. For the appetizers we ordered 2 sampler plates: the mozzarella sticks came out ice cold - we asked if they could take them back and after 15mins they came back with our SAME plate that they threw in the microwave and they were STILL cold. To "make up for it" they brought out a small plate of mozzarella sticks that were genuinely FROZEN no exaggeration there was ice in them. One of the burgers we ordered had plastic on the cheese. The other burger was got named the "chissi cheese" had NO cheese on it. The calamari was rubbery and fishy. After everything came out we told them we were still missing a meal and they responded with "oh yes sorry...what did you order?" After waiting that long and all of this happening we told them to cancel it. We asked for the bill and the only thing they took off was the meal they forgot about! We were looking for something low key off of Quinta Avenida and this place was well rated, but probably underrated! Beautiful outdoor seating, extremely friendly staff, English was limited, but they made such a strong effort. Our server was brand new, from Argentina, and did an outstanding job. The prices are extremely reasonable, the drinks were good (the bloody Mary's surprisingly so), and the setting was comfortable and a little quirky. Highly recommend if you're looking for something reasonably priced just slightly off the tourist path. read more

I was just sitting in my condo, trying to figure out what to eat. We wanted mariscos and this was the closest mariscos place to our house. Holy cow, their food is delicious! My sister and I had a mexican shrimp cocktail and my husband had a variety of steak and shrimp tacos. Shrimp cocktail was sooo good, tasty and they are not skimpy on the shrimp. Very, very substantial. My husband's tacos were delicious too, hand-made with blue corn, so the tortillas are blue. We had guacamole and nachos as our appetizers. The guacamole never fails and their nachos are the best nachos I've had... and I want to say like EVER!! They actually used melted nacho cheese, not just melted Mexican shredded cheese so I appreciated that. It's also topped with delicious beans. We chose the mixed meat option (chicken and beef). Nachos were oh so tasty!! I had a strawberry mojito-- it was delicious! Wish I had one right about now. If you have kids, and are looking for a lunch spot, this place will work. Their menu is large with a variety of options. Service is great! Very friendly and will make recommendations if you're not sure what you want or if you're in between two options. Ambiance was chill. Covered and uncovered options available. No a/c, but fans are around which help a lot. Nice music throughout our visit. The waitress mentioned they usually have live music during dinner time. Such a bummer we didn't get to experience that! We were all upset because it was our last day of vacation and we wished we had discovered this spot sooner. When I come back, this is the first place I will come to after I drop off luggage at the condo. 100% recommend!! read more

I ordered the bufallo cauliflower first. This was spicy in an American/cayenne kind of way. The bits were crisp on the outside and just soft enough of the inside to give a bite similar to chicken. For my meal I ordered the shrimp "burrito." This was a generic burrito. The shrimp was small and uninteresting. The toppings were fresh enough. The accompanying fries were moderately crisp and moderately fluffy inside. Not the best or the worth. Just about average. read more

The tacos are among the best I had in PDC (get the Gobra and carne asada). The service and setting are ideal for a fun evening with an outdoor courtyard area in the back. I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A NEGATIVE SCORE IF I COULD!! We showed up on a very rainy night and to give them credit, they set up a table for twelve people very quickly. Our waiter went around the table and took drink orders. Then the wait started ..... and kept going and going. It was easily 35 minutes before everyone had a drink ... four were smoothies (a bit watery, but tasty), a sangria, a lemon drop, a couple of other mixed drinks & waters. The waiter came back to the table to ask several people what drink they'd ordered (he never wrote them down). Mind you, the restaurant was not full - maybe 1/3 full of people. We were joking that the bartender must be looking up the drink recipes on a slow internet connection ..... well, the Portugal/Canada soccer starts, so we watched while we waited.... Then we ordered food (before all the drinks came). Three assorted appetizer platters, burgers, chicken fajitas, nachos, ceviche.... And then we waited. We were into the SECOND HALF of the soccer game before the food started dribbling out (that's 45 minutes for the half PLUS 15 minutes for the break). A nacho plate (mainly beans and very little cheese) here - a burger 5 minutes later, a ceviche (had to wait for the chips), etc. One of the burgers came out, my son took a bite AND I KID YOU NOT, THE PLASTIC AROUND THE CHEESE SLICE WAS IN THE BURGER!! By now the game is almost over. We are still missing the chicken fingers and chicken fajitas & we've put more money on the parking meter....and THEN THEY BRING OUT THE APPETIZER PLATTERS. The first thing someone grabs is a mozzarella stick - it's frigging ice box cold!! We call the waiter over. He apologizes, takes them all back. Minutes pass, still missing 2 dinners, brings them back, we grab a mozzarella stick, still cold!! He leaves the platters, after a few minutes, brings out mozzarella sticks and I SWEAR I AM NOT LYING - they are FROZEN ON THE INSIDE! We finally get the chicken fingers, but the waiter asks the guy who's missing his dinner what he ordered. He's so pissed he tells him just to cancel it! By now I am beyond pissed and I am starting to get up - the waiter comes out with a plate of mozzarella sticks, very brown and finally hot, but I tell him just to forget it - we don't want them (I did go up to him & apologize as it isn't his fault the kitchen sucks). BUT after, everyone said the waiter should have stayed on top of the kitchen... So, I confused - lots of great reviews on lots of food rating sites, but this was THE WORST EXPERIENCE WE'VE EVER HAD!! I really liked this place a lot. It's a cool location with beach type setting and reggae music. The waiter Mario was incredibly friendly and genuine, and really took the time to get to know us and make great recommendations. So the service definitely gets an A+. The drinks were really good, and the presentation was beautiful. There was even some fire involved. The food was also really good. There are so many things to love about this place, the food wasn't one of them. Live music! The band was incredible! They played all Beatles songs, and the lead had a great voice. The hostess told us they usually have live music nightly from 8-10pm but tonight it was only until 8:50pm. Beautiful outdoor atmosphere with open air "indoor" area under a huge palapa. Our server Guillermo from Argentina gave superb service. The food wasn't the best but it was okay. The cauliflower wings sounded better than they were. Deep fried delicious cauliflower covered in buffalo sauce. The sauce over powered everything and after a couple of them it was hard to eat anymore. The portion was pretty large. The other disappointment was my boyfriend's strawberry mojito. He hardly ever has a cocktail! He said he didn't taste any alcohol in the drink, which was a real red flag. The staff was friendly, attentive and offered some great suggestions with the apps and entrees. My son and I started with the guacamole which we both enjoyed. Followed with the Aguachiles and burrito with the potatoes with chili sauce. Both were outstanding. The restaurant had a cool vibe.
