Don't judge a book by its cover! Purchased a Groupon for this place because it was a short drive from my area. Imagine my surprise when I drove up!! It's located in a mini strip mall. Parking is limited, but Lola's has one spot for them and I was lucky to get it. The outside of the shop and the mini strip mall itself is not very attractive. Once inside the shop, it's OK looking. It's clean and they tried to decorate it to make it look better. Don't judge how a person looks! She did a great job trimming my bangs and trimming my hair. Only paid $25 and it was worth it. I started to come to Lola's Beauty Studio in September 2024. While the Studio is a full beauty service business, my needs were for a pedicure for two reasons. First, my rheumatoid arthritis has made manipulating my feet (and hands) a chore to properly trim my toenails. Second, I am a Type 2 diabetic and my nails can sometimes have issues. I was referred to the founder/owner, Lola, by someone whose opinion I trust and has been a customer of hers for years. Finally... after having one too many can't-wait-for-my-hair-to-grow firsts of new hairdressers... so happy I found Lida on Groupon, read up on fellow Yelpers notes and got to have my first haircut with Lida. She is the epitome of how a business-man/woman should use Groupon i.e. as a means of marketing & advertisement and getting the word out there. I showed up on time, got lucky to snag a parking spot in the small shopping plaza and Lida was waiting for me and got to work right away. In a matter of 2 minutes, she got what I like and don't like, shared her expert advice and got started on my haircut. Lida is quick and efficient, and tuned into what and how I like my hair cut. Got a Groupon for a cut - insanely great price for LA - as low as $17 when Groupon is having a sale! And as I just needed a quick trim before heading out of town, this absolutely suited me. They're fast, making an appointment was easy and no one tried to sell me anything. Street parking or there is a small lot but it fills up fast. Okay this place has totally surprised me!! I came here based on a friends suggestion for a haircut. This is not your typical salon- they do a little bit of everything. When I first entered, I wasn't sure how my haircut would turn out. But once Lida started with the haircut, she knew what she was doing. My hair is curly and I just needed layers so I could keep my natural hair. She did a great job, just how I wanted my hair to be!! The blow dry was perfect as well! I also got my eyebrows done from this place and I am always very very concerned for my eyebrows (as they are thick and I don't want anyone to ruin them). I have straight, wavy hair and I cringe at the thought of spending upwards of $90 for a fancy haircut. I have splurged and have spent an exorbitant amount of money in an attempt to beautify myself. I got a coupon for hair cut and blowout. When I had the hair cut the washing hair service was not offered. It is very strange as it is a standard to have the hair washed before cutting it. My hair is long and the hair cut was done within 10 min. I noted there were pieces of hair longer and not completely in alignment. The owner offered blow dry but I said no need to do that. My thought was what needed to be blow dry when the hair is not washed and when it is dry, i just wantted to get out of there. I will not pay a second visit. read more

Re- learned an important lesson today: rushing last min. to get a blow out before my post-op 2 wk follow up, I made an appointment at a salon around the corner from me. Figuring a Spanish hair salon named "Lola" would most likely know how to deal with my biracial hair. But it actually turned out to be an Armenian/ Russian salon Immediately my heart sank, just like the expressions of the two Russian woman when I walked in (although they tried to hide it). I thought for sure they would not be able to handle my hair and would take a lifetime figuring it out, before I inevitably left 90 mins later looking worse than when I came in. But what could I do? I didn't have the balls to leave. There was a quick discussion in hushed russian amongst them and a woman named Karina took me to the wash bowl. Everything surprisingly went up from here, after washing my hair she proceeded to comb, blow dry and flat iron (all at once!!) my hair like some sort of super hero with 4 hands. Her attitude perked up and she even told me she loved my hair. I was in and out of her chair in 30 mins!! More importantly my hair was smooth and straight, not semi- straight and frizzy at the roots where I have to go home and redo it myself after spending $45-60, I mean straight like when you go to those Dominican salons they deal with your hair type specifically. All for $25! I tipped her $10 and ran out the door, afraid to burst my hair dream bubble. The lesson here was... give people a chance, because they just might surprise you read more

I thought it was too good to be true, but before I know it, I'm at check out. I'm an actress and model and it is important for my physical appearance to be presentable and professional all the time. Please beware they will upcharge you without even letting you know! So. I came here before and they upcharge me but I came back for a second time because I liked the cut Karine did for me and I made sure to ask ONLY for a haircut. No styling. styling costs extra but they dont tell you this. When I came back I said I just want a haircut with no styling please, she told me okay its $25. While I was getting my hair she took out her straightener and I said no I dont want you to style my hair I just want the cut. She then told me she needs to straighten my hair to be able to fix it, make sure it's good. Etc. I said okay. The haircut I asked for is a short aline Bob. When she finished straightening my hair she had curled the ends in toward my face. I told her, if you curl it in I cant see if the hair line you've done is straight or not. Please straighten it so I can see the hairline. She did and it was not straight. I asked her 4x to fix it. She kept saying it was straight. I even had her take a picture of my hair to show her that it's not straight meanwhile a lady comes in, I believe she was a friend of hers and was the next customer. They were speaking Armenian to each other. Cant help but think they were talking about me. After going back and forth with my hair I just gave up asking her to fix it and said its fine. I'm done..and the freaking customer that was waiting said FINALLY. like wtf? Excuse me? So rude. Then they try to charge me $65! When they had quoted me $25 for a haircut. This was the same situation last time I was here. But I stood my ground this time and said I asked for a haircut and no styling. I asked for this repeatedly. If you're going to charge people for extra services you need to tell them before you do it. And then she said well she had to keep fixing your hair. Wow!! She had to keep fixing it because she didnt cut it right. I'm not paying for anything more than a haircut. Walked out of there dissatisfied. Shame on me for being fooled twice. My husband got a Groupon for a hair cut with blow dry for our daughter. Lola salon seems pretty fast and easy to make an appointment. My daughter didn't need a hair cut just a small trim. We did have an appointment but she was cutting someone else hair when we got there so we waited about 20 minutes kinda annoying. Parking situation not very good in that small plaza. Everything is reserved for the clinic or the donut shop. We found meter parking. Everyone seems to smoke cigarettes right outside and the smell is so strong but if you're okay with that smell that whatever lol my daughter was happy with her trim I like that she didn't just cut a bunch and actually listen and straighten her hair after. When I found this place on Groupon I was so excited. I figured $15 for a blow dry and cut was too good to be true. I was sceptical, but I went ahead and used the Groupon. I really wish I hadnt. First off I am African-American, and I called ahead twice and even went in person for Lida to see my hair before she did it. On the first visit/consultation she told me she would be able to do my hair and she has experience with my hair type. I don't know if that's true or not, but it didn't seem that way when she did my hair. The day I went to have my hair done, she tells me last minute that she can not blow dry my hair to cut it, and she would have to straighten it. That was an extra $15 which wasn't bad, but she should've said that the first time she saw me. Then she expected that I washed my hair at home, which makes no sense especially sense she offered a protein treatment when we spoke on the phone. Finally she starts doing my hair and right off she burns my neck, not a graze I mean she burns my neck. To wrap this up there were about eight people she had waiting so she starts rushing and pulling my hair, and she ended up burning me two more times, then when she finally cut my hair it was uneven. This was thee worse hair experience I have ever had. So I do not recommend this place if you are black. I have 3c curly hair detangles easily when it is wet, this entire experience was a nightmare. read more

They're cash only, which is fine but I only had cards on me. Found this place on yelp as I was searching for a Dominican hair salon, since I was half asleep I didn't think of double checking if it was infact a Dominican hair salon. So I called to make an appointment, and was able to get one for 30 minutes later which was great, especially being a Saturday. As soon as I walked in, I started getting concered because I realized they are not a Dominican hair salon. And I have natural curls and not many people know how to handle my hair, so I was a bit worried it wouldnt look good. I was greeted and I told them I was the girl that called for an appointment.
