Enjoyed a great catered holiday lunch at work from Loma Bonita. The unsuspecting small grocery store serves up some great tacos and delicious guacamole. We got a tray of premade beef tacos and chicken tacos, and a quart of guacamole, a tray of rice and refried beans. The order came with chips, salsa and hot sauces. Authentic Mexican food. That's a heck yes from me! I've never stepped foot in Loma Bonita, but took the stay at home order to place an order from them through GrubHub. I'm so glad that I decided on them to order lunch yesterday! I ordered the monstrous Torta with Al Pastor as my protein choice. It was difficult to decide, but I think that if an Mexican restaurant can do great Al Pastor, they just are great! It was so yummy, flavorful and the texture just perfect! Put a little of that red HOT sauce on it and it's killer. And yes, I emphasized that for a reason. The red sauce is firey! The green is a good choice for some acidity, but not so hot. My friend ordered 6 tacos and they were delightful! Two of each of the pollo, chorizo, and al pastor. They come with onions, cilantro and lime but you can add other toppings for an added fee. They really don't need anything else, but feel free to indulge! I would definitely order from them again! I don't know that I would feel comfortable going in to order since I'm not brushed up on my Spanish. Apparently it's very authentic according to other reviewers. Poor customer service, they lost me and over thirty people we referred to them. My husband paid for 8 tacos, only received 6 and the owners daughter Laura refused to give him what he paid for. if you ever go there make sure to check your order because they're STUPID!!! I do not know how or who is giving you 5 stars . . . just don't get it delivered!! My salad was "floating"in water . .. So much so I had to pour off the water out of the styrofoam container. . . gross!!! My flautas were horrible! Very little in them . . mostly a few pieces of chicken . . that's all! DO not waste your money - maybe it's better inside . . but deliver food was the worst - I guess they've got ya knowing there is nothing you can do about it. So stick it in the box and call it done . . . not how you gain customers . . and sadly, this was the first time we tried Loma Bonita. And sadly, for them, will be the only time. read more

Went here on the basis of a Yelp review. Excellent food! Great service! Wonderful people! Cool atmosphere! Not to be missed. This place rocks!!! Some of the other reviews think this place a bit sketchy looking. I didn't think so at all. It is small tienda with a carnicieria and a bustling clientele. That is good because the supplies turn over a lot,so everything is fresh. It is all fresh. Most of the people here don't speak English, but I don't speak Spanish either; still I had no problem at all. If you can read Spanish or even know a Spanish menu, you wont have a problem. I got no odd looks nor curious glances; one lady said "con permiso" to get by me in line -- that is not rocket science to understand. There were some nice families out for Sunday dinner; there were a couple of guys at the bar having a beer. It has a great jukebox and the owner of the restaurant like to sing along; it was the perfect volume and he hit the perfect pitch. I had the casuelon and my brother had the pescado empanizado [which I butchered, but the owner forgave.] The chicken, beef, and chorizo were fresh and not overcooked; the rice and beans were great and the salad was excellent; tortillas came with the meal and I got green and red salsa which were tasty and not too too hot. My brother's fish was lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Everything was great. We left a tip at the table and paid at the grocery store across the hall. A good time was had by all. The food was distinctive because it wasn't like eating in a Mexican restaurant with all of its commercial appeal; it was like eating a meal with the family. Nothing better than that. So I get a hot tip from the one and only Rick N. about this Loma Bonita. He says man this place has got you written all over it...'cause I'm always up for a real deal Mexican Taqueria adventure ya know...and this was definitely an adventure, this place is a 100% AUTHENTIC Mexican experience no doubt. I've been in some rough lookin' Taquerias, but when I rolled up on the scene here I had to think twice about whether or not I was gonna go in, it's a bit of a run down, sketchy lookin' place in the bushes. When I pulled in the dirt driveway I had to go to the back of the building and turn around and they had one of those smokers on wheels made out of an old 275 gallon drum parked at the back door and smoke was rollin' hard out of its smokestacks...I knew then I was goin' in. I got some odd looks when I walked in, I think the folks in here thought I was lost. There was not the first word of English spoken in here, everyone I encountered spoke to me in Español from the gentlemen that greeted me to the waitress that took my order to the guy that rung me up at check-out and I did the same back, so a little basic Spanish would be needed here. As you enter the front door, the check out counter, the small grocery section and the meat counter are all to the right, and to left is a doorway that goes into the taqueria dining area. The dining area is neat and clean, postin' a 95 sanitation grade "A" on the wall. There's about 6 tables with red & white checkered tablecloths with wooden chairs and a bar counter with stools. The menu is on the wall. The 4 stars are based solely on the food, I'd give 4.5 if I could...I ordered 2 chicken tacos and 2 pastor tacos to-go and they were pretty outstanding. They are served street style on corn tortillas with cilantro and onion with radish slices and lime wedges along with the homemade red & green sauces which were both great with a good amount of heat which made the tacos that much better. Everything is fresh and homemade, the pastor was great. The menu has a good number of options with tacos, sopes, gorditas, fajitas, burritos, empanadas, a number of soups, seafood items and a variety of plate options and more...and if you go back to the meat counter, they have whole cooked chickens and trays of what I believe was barbacoa that all looked pretty awesome, packaged up ready for purchase, which is probably what was cookin on the smoker out back. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for a minute, I'm sure I will at some point soon. I've found that sometimes most awesome authentic Mexican food comes from some of the roughest lookin' little places...like this one. When I pulled in, there was one car in the little dirt parking lot, when I left there was about 15. Thanks for the tip Rick. oh yeah...and the guy sellin' socks out of the back of his suv beside the building is great, he showed me his whole selection of socks, black or white??? he got you covered, 4 pair'll run ya $8 bucks, I told him I was good on socks right now, but if I ran across anybody needin' a pair or 2 that I'd send'em his way. read more

I've been to Loma quite a few times,each visit was quite enjoyable. I love Menudo and this place has one of the best i have had in the area. Tacos are on point! Shrimp fajitas are very good with a nice amount of heat. If you like heat,try the camarones ala diabla,this dish WILL light up your taste buds. there are quite a few Mexican Restaurants closer to where i live,but this place is worth the trip!! read more

Loma Bonita is quite the gem. It's very conveniently located on MLK just off I-74/311. Don't be put off by the somewhat sketchy exterior, everything is clean and well run. I stop in about once a week for some carne and pollo tacos. I'm at the point now where the cook sees me coming and I don't even have to order! Everything is fresh and authentic. Plus you get a freshly cooked meal at fast food prices. Expensive gourmet "taco joints" may be all the rage now but I'll take the real thing from Loma Bonita any day. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped by and got to enjoy some very delicious and cheap tacos. We scarfed it down too fast before I even had the thought of attaching a photo for this review unfortunately. But wow. The food here is so good and well priced. And the cook is very open to help out if ya need recommendations. Open 7 days a week and they have every small grocery item you could need to stock your kitchen. They also have a full butchers shop in the back for all your pastor and asada needs. read more

Awesome authentic food. They do speak English and they are very helpful, fast and such good food. Beer is cold and people are friendly. Some items are overpriced like a convenience store (milk) but I would not go there for milk anyway. It is the steak quesadillas that keep me coming back! Very reasonably priced. read more
