    Pozole, as plated

This is one of a handful of local restaurants the I will visit 2 or 3 times a month on average. I visited the original restaurant located in Greensboro many times. The food here is at least as good, the menu is broad, they offer daily lunch specials, and the service is almost always on point. And the parking versus the Greensboro location is a dream! On this trip I went with a dish some will neither appreciate or even touch, figuratively or literally - Pozole Roja. This dish contains hominy as a major ingredient along with pork in a rich broth seasoned with cumin, Mexican oregano, and Chiles. Here it is topped with cabbage and Chicharron. To that I will add chopped white onion, sliced avocado, grilled peppers and onions (side dish), radish, and a healthy dose of lime juice. This is a large, busy dish with at least two or three adult meals coming from it. I love this dish and they do a great job here.- right up there with Taqueria Los Juanes! This is a dish that is more tan the sum of its parts - if you can't deal with hominy, eat around it - there is a lot going on in this dish!

I came here on a Tuesday as a party of 2 around 11:45am and we were sat immediately at a booth. I enjoyed their chips and salsa as the salsa was not too spicy. I ordered the lunch portion of the steak fajitas and a small (4oz) cheese dip. The steak was flavorful. The onions were sliced well, but I wish the bell peppers were cut a little thinner. It only came with 2 tortillas and the amount of fajitas and toppings they give you, you need more than 2 tortillas. The cheese sauce was good quality too. I do wish that the waiter stopped by a bit more often. Once we finished our meal, we did not see our waiter and were confused on how to pay. We ended up just going straight to the counter to pay. Overall though, we did enjoy our time.

Back for another 5 star review. This time I created the bowl with chicken, rice, beans and all the toppings. Available on the lunch specials for 9.99! Service was fantastic and we could've drank the salsa.

I love El Camino, I've been coming here since I went to college and it's always the same. Amazing food, cheap prices and quick service. The food is always hot and delicious I love their spinach dishes since it's creamed spinach and their sauces are immaculately spiced. If you want some authentic Mexican food, this is one of the greats!

5 stars for great service, clean comfortable space, and great value. The food arrived piping hot, was presented nicely and had really good flavor. We forget about this little gem tucked away in this shopping mall but there's ample parking and the option for outdoor seating which is nice. I didn't get a picture but you can get guacamole made table-side!

Lunch outside on the patio today and it was so so good! I had a chile relleno, taco and salad and was so delicious! Salsa is spicier than most which I love.

    Love notes on the tacos!

Always been a fan of El Camino Real! I discovered them when I was a student at UNCG, and was a weekly consumer of their taco Tuesday specials. I was happy to learn of the Old Town location in Winston-Salem when I was no longer in Greensboro regularly. I've always had good experiences and service at both locations. Today I needed to order 20 tacos for a birthday party. El Camino came to mind and they were the most affordable for authentic Mexican style tacos. The young lady who took my order on the phone was very well spoken and helpful since I was scheduling the order about an hour ahead of time. I ordered a variety of asada, pollo, carnitas, chorizo, and al pastor. She made sure we wanted onions and cilantro on all the tacos, which we did, but I appreciate her asking. Everything was clearly labeled and the tacos were a hit! Our birthday girl is from the west coast and was very impressed with the tacos. What really sent it over the top was opening the neatly packaged bags to see cute little notes written on each of the boxes! Messages like "made with love" and "Camino Real loves you!" it was really such a nice personal touch we all thought was really sweet. Thank you El Camino Real - we love you too!

Great place for groups, decent mexican food and cold beer. They also have Sunday lunch specials all under $10 which makes me very excited since I'm always on a budget. The chicken fajita salad was very satisfying layered with beans a good amount of guacamole, lettuce and chicken. My only complaint is that the chicken could have been a little better and more fajita like. They have good cold beer on top and the service was pretty good. They were very accommodating and friendly with our big group. Everyone loved their dish. They even had pupusas which I'm going to get next time you don't see a lot of out here.

What's good? The warm chips and salsa, basic tacos, beans and rice. I decided to try Birria from somewhere different, unfortunately I regretted my decision. I started with chorizo dip, the chorizo had a funny taste to it perhaps it was old. For the main entree the infamous Birria tacos! Taste like beef stew! Highly disappointed! The consume taste like seafood. Service was slow but it appears they were short on waitresses. Although it was clean, I think I'll stick to the basics with this place. Everyone has an off day.

Excellent prices for good Mexican food. Some dishes might be heavy handed with the salt. The chips and salsa were A+. Very attentive servers and a quick pay at the cashier set up to make splitting the check easy.

Wow! Service was amazing! Our cocktails were yummy. The food was flavorful and filling. Great portions, packed with flavor! Carnitas are delicious! Patrons and employees were genuinely happy. What a great experience!!! Will definitely be back. Good environment for families, singles and couples! Full bar!

    Texas bowl $9.99 special

Dropped in w friends who highly recommended this place, raving about their Margaritas and food. After looking over their extensive menu and chalkboard specials we all ordered a pitcher of Margaritas filled to the brim and our accompanying glasses w a choice of salted rim or sugared. They were quite tasty! We ordered some papusas to share that everyone liked along w their spicy salsa and chips. We were pretty full from those starters but we were determined to forage on into entre' territory and yummo! I ordered the specialty of the day Texas Bowl. It was HUGE and everything in it was SO GOOD and only $9.99. My friends had enchiladas and burritos and those were large portions so we all ended up w enough left over to take home! Service at this place is quick and friendly and you won't leave hungry!

Located in a shopping strip just off the road. Large ample parking lot, some outdoor seating. Very inviting as soon as you walk in, festive environment with music in the background. Staff greets and seats you immediately at one of the many tables or booths. There is also limited seating at the bar, which has a great selection of beers and mixed drink's. Menu has lots of your regular items found at other Mexican restaurants but here they also have some more traditional dishes, always check out their specials also as they are usually pretty great. The free chips are fresh and light with some good sauce, hotter version available upon requests. Their Choriqueso dip is creamy with small pieces of chorizo in every scoop. Their tacos come in 4's and can be combined 2 and 2. The Al Pastor are the ones who the most flavors, with onions and grilled pineapple in every bite, comes with a red and green sauce.....I lean green! My wife got the Mojarra Frita, a whole fried fish which is crispy on outside and tender inside. ACP is OK as per my daughter. Overall it is a nice family friendly restaurant where owners and staff value your business..

When the food was brought to me, the employee offered me two kinds of ketchup. Her tray did not have any salt on it either, so I had to ask her to bring some, which she did. Very perfunctory. The burger and fries were just barely warm. The fries tasted fine, but we're nothing to get excited about. The burger patties were thin, dry, and insipid. The toppings were just average. Until recently there were no spots that had any inside seating, but this is gradually changing. They are known for the small building with drive thru lanes on both sides, and this plus the congestion surrounding many of their locations can make getting in and out a challenge, though this one in not as bad as many! The burgers and chicken sandwiches here are far superior to the offerings of any national chain l, with the possible exception of a properly staffed and operating Culver's - the one in Winston is not one of those, the one in Kernersville most certainly is. The number of locals spots that rival the offerings here is very small. I ordered each of my favorite items here - Bacon Cheeseburger and the Crispy, Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich. The time in line here are generally a bit longer than the larger chains, but still around 10 minutes. The burger was excellent and well sized as alway, these folks just know how to make a great burger. And the crispy, spicy chicken sandwich is as good as anyone's, including the cult one at Popeyes!
