I purchased a home with spectacular pool built by Lombardo Pools. The pool is beyond phenomenal and a bit overwhelming because it has so many cool features. The bad thing is I don't know how to work anything for when it comes to Maintance: vacuuming, back washing etc. the pool has many features including waterfalls, waterslide, spa, lights, heated, solar etc. I called to schedule an appointment for a "pool school". Was told that someone would call and schedule an appointment. It has been 3 long weeks no call to setup the appointment. When I call to follow up, no one answers. Messages left, no one returns calls. You may be busy, but a courtesy call for a new customer would be nice. I am very disappointed at the customer service with this company. If they weren't the pool builder, I would go else where....and probably will anyway. At this time, I do NOT recommend this company. ***UPDATE: I have been contacted and have a scheduled "pool school" on Tuesday. Once I have officially been helped & educates, I will update my review. Our experience was fair - not bad - but not great either. I certainly expected more professionalism due to the amount of cash involved. Keith Lombardo, who runs the business, is very knowledgeable and helpful on the front end, but as soon as he closed the deal with us, communication dropped off. It was hard to get a return phone call to answer questions I had during installation, etc. I think the installation team team did a good job, but some of the workers didn't speak English, and when I had questions I had to find the one guy who did, who was very nice and a hard worker. Overall, I'd give them a "B+ or A-" on the job completed, but I'd give Keith a "D" since he didn't seem to care much about us once he got the job. read more

I am very happy with my project result by Lombardo Pools. We built a large concrete pool and so I knew the investment was going to be substantial, which is why I spent a lot of time vetting the options and discussing details of the quotations. During this "quotation phase", several pool builders dropped out I guess because they were either annoyed by my questions, or did not want to wait as long as I wanted to, until I had made up my mind. Out of 7 or 8 companies contacted, I had 3 which stuck patiently with us until we made our decision (this took about 2 months, by the way). At the end, our decision was not only based on the best price, but also on the impression of professionalism and technical understanding (I am an engineer myself so I always want to understand everything). Lombardo Pools did not come out with the lowest price (while the differences were in the +/- 10% range after everything was comparable) but I had by far the best impression for technical detail knowledge. During the "construction phase", my impression was confirmed. Keith Lombardo advised more than once not to rush (although we were getting excited and kind of impatient ourselves) but instead to keep e.g. concrete curing times as they have to be and to accept lead times for special request features. So, it took longer than planned to complete the pool, but this was also due to the need of our special requests, the way it should be done, and of course a harsh winter which also cause some unplanned delays. So - if you want to have a gunnite pool built in 6 weeks or want to go with the lowest offer: Lombardo is not your partner. But if you want to have a very professional installation, have a lot of special requests, and be happy with the result in the end for hopefully a long time in your life: Keith Lombardo is a choice which I can surely recommend. The only small area for improvement potential is related to communication: Double checking of information can avoid a misunderstanding in planning. I had a small issue there, but it was corrected fairly, quickly, unbureaucratically. The end result - and that is what is most important I believe - was a pool which I am sure was built to the highest standards and exactly our expectation. Maybe we paid slightly more than with the "large firms", maybe it took a little longer, but for us quality was a higher goal than speed. On a personal level: Keith Lombardo was before, during and after the process very kind and accessible. You can tell he and his team are in the business for a long time and they know their job. His team members also were always mindful and helpful (there is much less outsourcing than with larger companies, I guess). Overall: Rating A. I want to first start off by saying this was the first pool and spa I have ever built and I am so incredibly happy with the outcome. This is why I felt compelled to write this review. After interviewing 6 different pool companies, I finally decided that Lombardo Swimming Pools, LLC was the company I wanted to do business with. I started my search with the large pool company names and became very frustrated with the sales people who showed up to my house with their fancy computer programs and would basically say anything to make a sale. They were not actually that knowledgable either. They use all subcontractors to do the work and the quality is not the same as a result. One company wanted to put the pool equipment right next to the pool just off the pool deck area where I would be relaxing. When I asked, "why in that location?", his reply was "it is the most efficient place for the equipment." While that is a true statement, it was a deal breaker for me because if I did not know any better, I would have been stuck with loud equipment sitting next to the area where I entertain and relax. It was a cost savings for the pool company and they were not passing the savings on to me. You might be thinking, why didn't I just ask them to place the equipment in a more appropriate location, but I did not feel they were thinking about me and I just decided not to do business with them and moved on to the next company on my list. Another company was way over priced mainly because they were a landscape company who happened to put in pools. Not a good idea to go with a company who's main purpose is to do landscaping and NOT to build pools. In any event, my last meeting was with the owner of Lombardo Swimming Pools and to my relief, my search was over. Not only was he incredibly knowledgable and professional, he took the time to hear my requirements and designed a pool that was perfect for my family and our needs and he did so while respecting my budget requirements, and actually even made my budget stretch further by being creative and aggressive in truly exceeding my expectations with product and design selections. The construction process took about two and a half months. My pool is 8.5 feet deep and the freeform design style. There were no construction delays because the scheduling was spot on, there were no unforeseen problems (i.e. soil stabilization issues or rock removal issues), and admittedly the weather totally cooperated throughout the entire project. This company only uses high quality products. I was always kept abreast of what to expect and what was to come. There was a construction foreman present when necessary and all State inspections passed the first time. Keep in mind, this is a large structural project with many layers of complex construction components and you will be working with the company for several months, so you have to choose wisely. The fact that this company has over 30 years of experience and is family owned and operated is a plus because they take ownership and provide a better product. Lombardo Swimming Pools does not sub out much of the work. Less chance of fingerprinting should anything go wrong. The company cares about doing right by their customers and wants their pools to last. Customer satisfaction is their number one goal always. I would STRONGLY recommend this company to any person who is thinking about constructing a pool in their back yard. I would even go so far as to say you shouldn't consider anyone else. We are so glad we chose Lombardo Pools. We knew adding a pool would be a major construction project but I suspect like many, we did not fully appreciate the magnitude. Nor, did we realize how adding the pool and spa would completely transform not only our backyard but the lifestyle feel of our home. We dealt directly with Keith Lombardo based on the recommendations of 3 separate friends of ours that were previous customers. We went to him with a list of concepts that we knew we wanted for the project. He did an excellent job of hearing what we were saying, and proposing ways we could accomplish our objectives. He then honed the concepts into a visual 3D drawing that allowed us to accurately imagine the finished product. We did competitively bid/compare his company to two others. Throughout the project, we asked for and listened to his advice on numerous materials and colors feeling he advised us as he would his own, and that we benefitted from his years of experience. We truly could not be more pleased with our results nor the service we received. Throughout the project whenever we had questions or concerns, we were able to pick up the phone and call or text Keith or Chris (our Project Manager) directly if they weren't on site. The crews that were on site, were always responsive. We felt safe and comfortable throughout the project with the crews that were working in our yard. If you've ever had major construction done on or around your home, your personal space, you know that it is hard to come away from the experience feeling wholly good about the experience, but I can truly say, that is our case with Lombardo. We feel that their service was equal to the high expectations we had. I was thoroughly impressed with Keith Lombardo, owner operator of Lombardo Pools, when he came to my house last winter to sell me a pool. I interviewed and entertained prices and design with 8 pools companies in the Charlotte area and upon first visit with each was most impressed with Keith Lombardo's knowledge of pool design, reputation in the industry and choices for equipment. Most pool dealers send you a salesman who is in no way involved in building your pool; they just sell them. Keith worked for his father for years learning how to build a long lasting beautiful pool. The company thrives on word of mouth and I can see why they keep on selling pools. With Lombardo you get quality for your money in terms of equipment choices and pool construction. I could go on and on about the difference in construction compared to other pool companies I entertained but what you need to know in general is "you get what you pay for" and Lombardo's pricing is very competitive as well. We looked at a lot of pool companies and went with Lombardo. It was an easy choice. Keith Lindberg put together a really beautiful design that was head and shoulders above the rest. We are very pleased with the result and we felt like the quality of the construction we really good. The areas where they could have improved were in the project management of our project. Keith Lindberg can't do it all (design, sales, project management) so plan to stay on top of calling him (we didn't have any problems getting in touch with him). Plan on the pool taking longer than it should due to miscommunication with sub-contractors and don't plan on Keith Lombardo knowing what is going on with your project or being nice about their delays. They have most of your money by the time they seem to stop caring about finishing your project. They do finish though and the hassle was still worth it. The electrical and stome companies did a great job. read more
