Broken center console that was hidden with glue? I canceled a purchase and was still charged. When I complained I was scolded. I was told by a friend that I should go to them because they work on older classic cars. WRONG! They damaged my center console made of wood, they didn't tell me and they tried to hide it! I found out because there were other switches that I decided to replace. Could the damage have been there and I didn't know? No, I had ordered the replacement switches after I had worked on the center console and it was not damaged, before taking it to them. I should have listened to my gut because I briefly spoke with the technician that was going to work on my car and I did not have a good feeling. He seemed disgruntled and just had a bad attitude. The bottom line they do not stand by their work. I was much angrier but now I just shake my head in frustration. "At your own risk." read more

My 2014 Mazda 3 GT front speakers didn't sound like it should be, I talked with Jay and asked for his professional advice on what I should do, replace with the same speakers or go with something else. He and his crew didn't sell or upgrade me on anything else but merely educated me so that I may make an educated decision on what I wanted. If you're looking for a simple solid stereo that will just do the trick, they have it. If you're looking to kick it up to high end top of the line sound, they've got you covered there too. They were able to piece together a real nice system from some a half assed mb quart amplifier I already had to drive my sub, and add their alpine deck to drive my own kicker speakers. System sounds great! I already have my eye/ear on some upgrades I may be interested for the future. I like supporting local businesses and Lombards Stereo also attracted me because they have been in business since 1961! So, I brought in my Toyota Camry to have the stereo system upgraded from the factory install. I spoke with the manager, Jay who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He spent an enormous amount of time explaining all my different options. After discussing my budget for the project, he had me listen to numerous different speakers/amp combos in their demo room. When I found the ones that sounded good to my discerning ears, I set up the appointment to have the system installed. I brought my vehicle in the morning for the all-day install and he even gave me a ride to work! When I got the call it was done, I arrived and listened to the difference. While it was a huge improvement, there was still a bit of the lower end that I thought was still missing. I brought my car back the next morning and Jay couldn't have been more accommodating. He immediately got back to re-tuning the system and decided I need a larger sub-woofer to handle the low end better. At no extra cost to me, he installed a bigger sub, tweaked the EQ some more and then had me listen. I put in a couple of my favorite CD's and literally got goosebumps when they played! I drive a lot (2,500 mi/month) so I am thoroughly enjoying my road trips now! The install was also professionally and aesthetically done to perfection. In just one day they took my blown out tired stock audio system and replaced it with a great sounding, state of the art multimedia entertainment system. What a rare find to come across a specialty store such as this one, where EVERYONE seems to know their business and products!! For a few months, I had been searching for 'old school' stereo shops, trying to piece together something most people under age 30 would not even know about..a component home audio system...just audio...nothing else...CD, cassette, FM radio. Even JUST stereo components are hard to find new, and you take a gamble buying used via Craigslist or Ebay. Even buying new from Amazon has its risks, as one runs the chance of having to send stuff back...which I did on 3 separate occasions earlier this year. It is always best to purchase new, from a place where the merchandise is described/shown to you, AND, best of all, there is knowledgeable technical support!! THIS is that place!! The manager, Mark, was absolutely awesome, and I was able to order one day and receive the unit the very next day!! The best thing of all was that ALL of the staff there knew what I wanted and understood my needs...unlike Best Buy or a similar place, where the staff is just 'window dressing'. Being on the cusp of a new vehicle purchase, I am very much leaning towards ordering the vehicle WITHOUT an audio system just so I can have Mark and his staff install a top-notch system in the vehicle. The only reason thats not happening with the 'wolf wagon' is that she is too old( 14 years and well over 250,000 hard miles). Lonbard's is definitely going to be my go-to stereo place!! read more

I bought an alpine deck and had them install it. Now the AM receives no stations and the FM only catches a signal intermit. I got some lame excuse about the factory antenna not being made for the alpine deck. Don't buy from these guys, shop elsewhere. read more

I always thought it was common knowledge to NOT go to a specialty shop if you were a cheapskate or wanted the cheapest solution. I came here knowing this but still wanted a cheap stereo and speakers for my friends car that I'm borrowing for a few months. Needless to say I paid more than I really wanted to for his ride but I feel like I got the best VALUE for my money. I got a new deck and 2 new speakers. I had the deck installed because, frankly, the car is a POS and I had no idea what was behind the current (broken) aftermarket stereo that was in it. They salesman listened to what I wanted and showed me my options, he really understood that I wanted to keep it as cheap as possible but that I was also looking for quality. Did I get the best deck? NO! Did I get the best speakers? NO! I didn't want that, I did however get the best value for what I paid! I paid more than twice as much for just the deck on my other vehicle. I suggest that anyone who goes here keeps an open mind and listens to the guys who work there and listen to the difference of the speakers, don't be set on one brand. read more

Lombard's has done my 2000 F-350 Truck, stereo L.E.D lights all around the truck. Sound system, automatic starter GPS, back up camera, Tinted back window,replacing all door automatic locks, front grill. Also police radar. They did my 2005 Road king, customized the sound system in my hard bags they also did my 2007 Street glide putting sound system in that also police radar on it. Their work is professional and they back it with lift warranty on all their work. It's the only stereo shop I trust to do this work on all my stuff. They are professional and honest. I don't know what the previous reviewer's problem is, but I've had nothing but good experiences with Lombards in Santa Maria. I have been dealing with these guys for over 5 years, and I haven't had any problems. I've seen other stereo places in town, but I didn't feel comfortable spending my money there. I've had stereo systems in my cars for over 18 years, so I DO know my stuff about car stereo. Yes, they are more expensive than some of the other places in town. But they have great service and actual experienced installers to put in your gear, so you don't have to worry about them hacking up your car. I'll gladly pay a smidge more if I can leave it there to be worked on, and not have to worry about it. The amp, subwoofer, speakers, and tweeters, I got and had installed at Lombards, all rock out. These are only guys I trust to get my stereo to sound great. read more

If I could put a NEGATIVE 500 I WOULD! We brought a Prius to get a headunit and 2 door speakers put in. We left a brand new credit card (inside the mail it arrived in in the center console) and by the time they installed the headunit and 2 speakers for $1,000 one of their installers ordered $400 worth of online purchases before we even picked up the car. BUYER BEWARE, NOBODY OFFERED TO COMPENSATE OR REIMBURSE THE STOLEN PURCHASES , THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS. read more

Really good products and service. I went in with a very general idea of what I wanted to do to upgrade my car audio system and was fortunate enough to be able to talk to the owner, David, who walked me through each component I would need for what I wanted and gave me suggestions based on my budget. He was super knowledgeable and did a great job explaining the technology and the options so that I could make an educated decision. They did the install in one day and it looks super clean, still looks like stock which is exactly what I wanted. David even came and picked my car up from my work to take it to his shop and then dropped it off back off to me after the job was done. Overall I'm very pleased with both the service and the product and would highly recommend doing business with this company. The customer service was excellent and the install was great. Car stereo systems can be a pricey venture, but they will work with your budget and most importantly, they will do it right. Was looking to upgrade the alarm system on my Honda Odyssey and decided to try Lombards. They have been around for many years (since the 80's), not sure if they have been under the same ownership but I don't think they have. I was looking into buying a Viper alarm system but the sales person talked me into buying a CrimeGuard alarm system. The conversation then changed to buying a complete stereo and alarm systems. I needed an upgrade so we worked out a deal for CrimeGuard alarm, Kenwood deck, four Kenwood speakers and installation. The only problem I had was the drink tray wouldn't push in all the way, I had to take it back and they corrected it. The wire hardness from the stereo was interfering with the tray. They were very helpful in syncing the stereo to our cell phones and showing us all the settings. The stereo sounded really good and the alarm was working fine. I sold the van six months later. Would I go to Lombards again? Yes but I would compare to others.. read more

Don't ever go here... seriously. This store is a ripoff and there are absolutely no refunds, even if you just made a deposit and haven't received any goods or services. Their sales team were cool to talk to initially but their business practices and store policies are unacceptable. They charged me $300 for a part that costs $160 on the manufacturer's website. I understand mark ups but this is ridiculous. I asked what brand it was and they couldn't even tell me! Funny how they know how much it costs.... I had to wait a week before they got a hold of the owner, who denied the refund. I was stuck with a store credit. I found out a coworker had a horrible experience with them too but with a poor installation and he got the runaround as well. read more

Won't go here again. Like previously stated the sales team is cool too talk to at first, but they do everything they can to rip you off. I had a sub and amp installed, and during the install they "offered" me a switch to control the bass for $60. When I checked out the box my amp came with, the switch was included free with it! I confronted the guy about his BS sales, and he was shocked I had noticed but quickly came up with "oh we put in a higher quality switch". Hah, like I'm an idiot or something. They refused to do a refund and only offered me store credit. Don't ever go to these scam artists. read more

Worst experience EVER with the installation if a home entertainment system. The owner Dave underbid the job by $300, for starters. When his men showed up (45 minutes late, with no call or explanation given), they didn't have bolts. They didn't have speaker wire. Then, they didn't have a ladder. Called the shop, the truck was out so no one could bring it. They spent hours farting around, got absolutely nothing done, and had to come back a second time, which was very inconvenient for me. Got the job done on the second day but had to redo the mounting of the TV, because the wires were still showing under the TV, which was mounted in a specially designed indented space above the fireplace. Can you say, check it before mounting it? Is it unreasonable to expect that "professional" installers would have common sense? It seemed that these guys had never done this sort of thing before, ever. They used speaker wire that was NOT rated for inside the wall installation (I know this, but evidently they did not), wire that "Dave" charged me $40, for, when I had a 100' roll sitting right there that I had told them to use. When I called to get an adjustment on the outrageous bill, "Dave" decided it was okay to insult me personally during what should have been a business (and businesslike) interaction. I have NEVER been so upset with something like this. STAY AWAY. They're clueless about what they're supposed to be able to do, inconsiderate and incredibly rude. I will tell everyone I know about this in order to ensure that no one else has to go through something like this. -10 stars, if possible, would be an appropriate rating. Never again.... They are complete idiots. read more

I was born and raised on the Central Coast and honestly, I've yet to meet a more unprofessional shop. The man who looked as if he was the supervisor, or at least in charge at the time, was completely rude. He was slumped over the front counter, chewing gum loudly, and just stared. I walked in looking for a back-up camera for my car, and when presented with the options of a silver or black - I asked to see the black - to which he snapped back that he was showing me the silver because that's what they had in stock. He continually gave me dirty looks every time I had a question and acted like I was nuisance. I was actually referred to Lombards Sterio by a family member, they had great service. We took our '16 Toyota Sienna to Lombards to upgrade the factory sound system. The Install manager, Rob Gonzales, said the best and easiest solution would be a Audison AP8.9 bit Amplifier, which he said was on sale for $999. There would also be "some" installation charges. When we picked up the vehicle, we were presented with a bill for $1,932.32! They said they had to add about $120 for additional materials and charged $120/hr labor, saying it took them 8 hours for the install. Very misleading on the initial sale. Make sure you get an estimate if you want to deal with these people. BTW; we went on line and the unit could be purchased for $999, so it wasn't on sale after all. read more
