DO NOT COME HERE !! Paid them 300 to install a new head unit. They FAILED to tell me if they install this new unit then they would essentially disable my back up camera & gps system. Quoted me another 500 to 'possibly fix' a problem they created. Paid them another 100 to go back to stock, even though I just wanted to fix something THEY BROKE. To top it off my aux, fm/am radio, cd, & whole front panel does not work anymore after they CHARGED ME TO FIX SOMETHING THEY BROKE. Paid them almost 500 in labor hours for my car to stay the same & for them to break my stock head unit. If you want quality, integrity work done on your car THEN DONT COME HERE !!! Had a great experience with Lombards - highly recommend. Walked in to ask questions about my Tacoma. I had already spent some money on a system upgrade that didn't do what I was hoping. Angel walked me through what my dissatisfactions were and then helped me understand the types of decisions that would improve the quality, yet maintain some of my current investment. I ended up choosing to have the stereo replaced and added acoustic treatment to the doors and rear. The result was a huge increase in sound quality. It was exactly what I was hoping to achieve. Am I writing this review over 2 years later? Yup. Is my sound system still working extremely well? Absolutely. I was assisted by Angel, who did a fantastic job in not only helping me decide which media screen to upgrade for my 2014 Toyota Camry, but he also assisted my father a year later with upgrading his in his Lexus. 2 years later, my media console is still going strong + I have had no issues with it! Earlier this year I had an inoperable antenna on my older Toyota replaced by Lombards Stereo. Their price was reasonable but the quality of the reception after installation was MUCH worse than had been the case with the original antenna. After putting up with this for a few weeks I contacted Lombards and asked them to check it out. I was given an appointment about a week out. At that appointment a technician popped off some molding in the trunk and stated that the antenna was properly grounded and was working as well as it could. Total time spent checking the antenna out: 2 minutes. I thought this examination was so cursory that I sent a letter to the company (after finding that there was no way to send an email) detailing my concerns. They didn't bother to reply. Some weeks later the antenna just fell off. My guess is that the part -- which Lombards special-ordered and installed -- was defective or, possibly, installed incorrectly. Even a minimally-concerned technician would have noticed that that the radio reception (which he didn't bother to listen to) was lousy compared with other vehicles and warranted further investigation. Had that happened the bad replacement antenna would have been identified, the supplier would have presumably sent a replacement part and this story would have had a happy ending. read more

Very poor customer service from Bryce in my experience. He could not answer any of my questions without creating a competition of who knows more about the products. I personally felt judged, attacked and unwelcome. If he is any indication of the culture at Lombard's Stereo then you should find the help you need elsewhere like I did. read more

Had a wonderful, positive experience at Lombards. I had a pesky, loud off factory security system in my '97 4runner that had needed to go. Upgrade your technology and not your car... A few weeks ago, I had to make a huge decision to sell my 2003 (15-year-old) Porsche 911 (996) C4 or invest in it. I needed to upgrade the IMS bearing since this is a known problem for the 996 models. It was a potential failure I did not want to experience on the road. While we were replacing the IMS bearing it made sense to install a new clutch. One of the reasons I wanted to sell it was I could not stand my current stock radio and old tech. Living in the San Luis Obispo area, older radios do not have very good reception and I was missing Bluetooth connectivity to my radio with a hands-free microphone for my phone. I always had to remember to bring a Bluetooth headset so I could talk on my mobile phone. So, my friends from German Auto in SLO gave me a few recommendations, I chose to visit Lombards in San Luis Obispo. I met with David Joy, owner, and he gave me an incredible amount of his time so I would make the right decision for my 911. He walked me through all the radios that would work in my car and still look like the radio belonged in my 15-year-old 911. After David explained the differences in technology, performance and capability we took a walk to my car. It turned out my 2003 911 had enough real estate for a full screen system. This would include Apple Play, Rearview Camera, SiriusXM, Nav System and Bluetooth capability built-in microphone. We also needed to upgrade the amplifier. We chose the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX Radio and a 5 Channel Amp that would fit in my bonnet. They also rearranged my dashboard to make this look like it was stock (checkout the pics). I could not be happier with my choices and recommendations from David. If you are driving an older car that you still love but are not crazy about your antiquated technology, you really should look for another type of upgrade at Lombards in San Luis Obispo. Another incredibly positive experience at Lombard's for me. This was probably the 5th or 6th time I've used them in my life and I felt I should leave a yelp review for this one. I was helped by Angel and everything went great doing the stereo on my mom's Toyota SUV. Where I was really impressed however, is I asked about changing the appearance of a large metallic piece that went across the whole dash. My mom said it made a big glare when the sun it. Angel said they could sand it down and paint it to match the rest of the dash but that the job would probably take an extra day to fully let the paint dry and I was totally OK with that of course. In the end, the dash came out looking like it was factory (see pic) and the big shiny piece was now black matching the rest of the dash perfectly. My mom was very happy!! Everything on the job was done right and it came back less than the original estimate... which I can't guarantee will happen for everyone but it did happen this time and so I know they aren't trying to overcharge. The job was several hundred dollars of course... but he went over every piece with me and I feel I got a great deal considering everything I asked for. 5 outta 5 will use Lombard's again!!!!! read more

A lot of this tech stuff can be intimidating if you don't know what you're doing. The guys at Lombards were super friendly and accommodating when I came by and spoke to me like professionals. My problem: I'm in a wheelchair and my van has a USB cable attached to the stereo. The cable was damaged and needed to be replaced. They were pretty busy and probably could've asked me to leave the van over night which would've been a major inconvenience. But they saw me in the van, came out & greeted me, and assessed the repair job right on the spot. My Diagnosis: Simple cable replacement. They had one of their techs jump on it and BAM! he was done in about 15min. and didn't price gouge me. Easily one of the best auto repair experiences I've ever had! These guys perform such a great service! I came in because my radio controls feel through and I didn't know how to take out the panels and bring it back out. He came out to take a look and very easily took the panels off and helped retrieve my controls back. It couldn't be fixed because one of the clips are broken it turns out so he told me not to worry about and I didn't pay anything. I needed to get my backup camera fixed so I decided to go to Lombards Stereo. Of course, I wanted to get something basic since I have quite a few blind spots on my corolla. The previous owner of my car put in an aftermarket stereo/navigation/backup camera. Unbeknownst to me, it appears as if they had done it all themselves while leaving behind quite a mess. The guys at Lombards were kind enough to fix it which took them an extra hour. It is so nice to open my trunk and not see a bunch of wires hanging down. I called Lombard stereo this morning, and I live in Bradley, the website looked pretty good. I wanted make a drive and talk to a technician before I travel to distance. The sky name, Angel, I think, got on the phone 20 years experience. I told him I have a 1998 jaguar XJ8L and I wanted to know how much it would be to upgrade the speakers and put an amplifier, he said that he doesn't know what kind of speakers go on that car because every car is different so I said I have a 1998 jaguar XJHL and he said he didn't know what package goes in the car he had an attitude, yes after 20 years, you don't know which of the three according to your words packages are in this car you should retire. I was going to drive down there and speak to him in person but I was only willing to go that far to spend money. Good job angel, in 20 years. You never learn customer service. He really spent a lot time getting to know what I was looking for in a stereo for my truck. We listened to a lot of different components and I'll admit I upgraded higher than I expected but his knowledge of how things sound and the quality was much appreciated.
