Rachel, the owner of Fitness Mogul, is a similarly amazing person, with a kind and personable attitude. I haven't taken her classes yet, but have only heard amazing things! It's difficult enough to find a pole studio in the AC area, let alone one that allows men to train. I was a visitor to the academy during my vacation on LBI. I got to the adult class early and got to…read morewatch the kids class. As a veteran of the BJJ circuit in Manhattan, I was blown away. The sad truth about BJJ in Manhattan is that it is almost exclusively an adult endeavor. While this is great in that us adults have world class instructors to choose from, this doesn't do much to build the next generation of warriors skilled in the gentle art. Flash forward to my time at The Hive. Professor Chris is doing what we are not doing in NYC - namely, he is building the next generation. And even more important than back takes and armbars, Professor Chris is teaching his young students lessons that will stay with them as they go forward in life - lessons such as the benefit of hard work and adherence to a code of being an honest warrior (bushido). And better than hearing these things from adults that these kids may or may not listen to, these lessons are coming from someone kids most certainly look up to and will listen to. Kudos to Professor Chris - he is doing the good work that we as a bjj community need to ensure that our art continues to grow and thrive.
