After the appointment, I decided to get a second opinion before proceeding with treatment. Two different dental offices requested my 3D CT scan from this office so they could properly evaluate my situation. Both offices told me they never received it. I paid for that scan, and I was trying to make an informed decision about a significant dental procedure. Instead, I found myself unable to get other specialists the information they needed to fully evaluate my case. Whether intentional or not, the result was the same: it made getting a second opinion far more difficult than it should have been. My advice to anyone considering treatment here: if they take imaging, ask for a copy before you leave the office. Do not assume it will be sent later if you decide to seek another opinion. Patients deserve access to their own diagnostic information and the ability to explore treatment options without obstacles. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

I had a root…read morecanal go wrong at another practice, which resulted in eventually needing the tooth extracted and having an implant put in. Instead of getting an upper dental implant done at MGH (where I really should have gone) I got it done with his office. Ahead of the surgery, I spend months jumping through hoops and seeing a sinus specialist (that Lyford referred me to) at Mass Eye and Ear to have Dr Lyford "approve" me for tooth removal and subsequent implant. There was concern that the root canal had damaged my sinus, and I was told it hadn't done permanent damage but I'd be better off having the tooth removed immediately as the existing tooth and root canal were irritating the sinus. Dr Lyford finally cleared me for dental surgery in his Hollis office with another Dr that comes in to help him. Things seemed fine immediately following the surgery, but months later I had recurring pain in my mouth and sinus then my eye on that side of my face kept swelling shut. I was missing work events and in a lot of pain. I had to go back to Mass Eye and Ear ER several times as the doctors around here were worried about nerve damage and potentially losing sight in the affected eye. During this process and several rounds of imaging later, it was discovered that the new implant had punctured my sinus and was causing serious problems. I had a very rough summer dealing with it. I eventually had to have sinus surgery to mitigate the problem. The sinus specialist that Dr Lyford referred me to himself said that my needing surgery was due to the dental implant. I'm hopeful that I can keep the implant but it may eventually need to be removed if it continues to be an agent of infection. I saw Dr Lyford today to follow up and discuss the implant and he claimed that the sinus specialist had no idea what she was talking about (the woman HE referred me to at Mass Eye and Ear in Boston) and that the implant wasn't the problem. That I would have a swollen eye, nosebleeds and pain (which I reiterated I did). He was very dismissive and wanted to adjust the implant which I said no to. Clearly, I need to find a new dentist. I just don't recommend this practice and wish I had done things differently on my end. Also, the services are really expensive. I've spent thousands of dollars there. He is out of network for dental insurance and you pay out of pocket to be reimbursed (in theory - it's a partial reimbursement at best).

Once I had an issue with a crown and he was able to open his office and fit me in on a Weekend! You just don't often get that type of care and service today. The dental assistant told us they are going to do a full mouth x ray. I asked if it was covered by my insurance since we were not sure if we were going to move forward with the procedure. She left and came back and said the consult and the x rays were both covered by my insurance. They quoted a very high amount after the "insurance discounts" that was over $3K. We did not move forward with them. I then received an invoice for $132 for the initial exam that I was told was covered. I called and they said it wasn't. I explained that I specifically asked if it was and was told it was and if it wasn't I wouldn't have had it done. They didn't care. I received another invoice that states if it is not paid, my account will be turned over for collection. This is unethical and I wouldn't trust this office. They billed $435 to our insurance provider, and the dentist saw my son for about 5 minutes and we owe $132. I would not recommend this office to anyone.

I figured I better get it fixed right, so after getting basic dental, I waited the six months and sought out someone to get it fixed. They took Delta Dental and were close so that is where I went. The wait was very short, less than five minutes on each visit. I found them very courteous and caring. My first appointment, they took full x-rays and cleaned my teeth. Dr. Michele Kalil did most of the work, aside from the x-rays themselves. She advised a crown, which was done over two other appointments. I found Dr. Kalil to be very pleasant and gentle (by Dentist standards). The staff was very friendly, exactly the opposite of Katie G. But Katie was seen in 2011 and a lot can change in 8+ years. I doubt their costs are much different than others in the area. I will be going back for cleanings. I highly recommend them.

Each time I waited 30+ minutes before I was seen. Most of the technicians are pompous and impolite. They told me I had a cavity, never showed me any x-rays, did the "cavity" and now that tooth bothers me more then it ever has. To add onto the experience I went to them specifically to get Invisilign. Dr. Kalil told me they could do everything I was looking for. My last month of Invisilign I was confused with the results I had and expressed to them that I was under another impression that my teeth would look different. They told me after 8 months of Invisilign that they couldn't do what I wanted without getting actual braces. I spent 1,500 on Invisilign just for my teeth to look almost the same as before. When I told them I wasn't pleased with the results and I felt I was taken advantage of they said, "You're just a perfectionist and sensitive. You're teeth looked good before we started invisilign." I feel as though I have been cheated by Windham Dental and wouldn't go back to them if you paid me.
