I live in Vail Colorado. I'd taken my huskey to our local Avon Pet Center for a mild tummy ache and…read moretwo days later my dog was going blind and couldn't use her back legs. My insitict told me to get a second opinion so I rushed to Conifer, 3 hrs away at 5:00 am just to find the Vet from Aspen Park Vet I'd used in the past, Dr Guerney who was one of a kind, had passed away earlier this year. They were now a very busy office with a very young staff and couldn't make time for us. In my desperation my friend called Bighorn. What a wonderful turn of events! Immediately I felt the peace come over me when his receptionist asked all the right questions and then actually listened compasionately to my responses! Amazing! She found me a spot for my Nala to be seen and within 2 hours Dr Curt was performing magic. Even tho I was being squeezed in and Nala wasn't his patient, he still took his time and was thorough, compassionate, kind, and most importantly extremely knowledgeable. I emphasize knowledgeable! His price was honest and very fair. Outstanding service! 5 stars! I will continue to drive the 3 hours if he will have us. Finding a quality vet, let's face it any servicer these days, who truly cares and isn't just trying to make money is a rare gem and worth the drive! Nala continues to fight and is holding steady! We can't expect perfection from our caregivers nor to have all the answers, perform miracles, or know what to do at all times but we can expect them to care, listen, and make wise, logical choices with the health of our loved ones. That is the profession after all. Thank you everyone from Bighorn from me and Nala!!! If you are reading this send some sweetness Nala's way!

The clinics 3 of which i tried the third one was most adept ,but for the most part still a clinic. Going to plannedpethood what difference the whole time ,im giving the dr. The symptoms ,staying on point, and talking symptoms. Hes wayvhing and assessing, the dog. Not only are they older ,more experienced, but they are on point. They get alot of people there,so being ready and not going off on the long stories is important. There treating dogs and cats not people. There experience is hand over foot more then you will get at strip mall vets.then they call you when there able and take time with you on the phone. Dont expect an answer by calling because they too busy, and get too many calls. Do expect experience for your pets! As far as cost im sure i paid less then some other places got better service then csu was offering, and they were clear and concise,in per and post care. If your shopping for certain personnalities at a front desk, then shop. But if your looking for experience, and best doctor for your pet let the personalities, slide ,and get the care your pet needs. I have no doubt this was the best choice for my dog. Just wish id found them before i went through the so called strip mall vets.(clinics)

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kevin and Dr. Liz…read more Family Veterinary Hospital is a small, friendly, thoughtful practice. We drive all the way from Littleton to bring our pup there. Our puppy had a deformed front limb that we had seen a few other veterinarians about. In tandem with her referral to an orthopedic surgeon, we came to the heartbreaking decision to amputate. Dr. Liz was thoughtful and willing to spend a lot of time on the phone, in person, and via email helping us choose a treatment plan that made sense. Our pup went into surgery yesterday morning and came home the same night. The staff at Family Veterinary sent me regular updates and a photo of him in recovery. They were so caring when I cried in the waiting room as I dropped him off. They snuggled him and loved on him - and I can't say that every vet office would have done that. I know that he was treated like a family member, not a number, during his stay there yesterday. When I picked him up, Dr. Kevin spent 30 minutes with me answering questions and reassuring me that our dog would be ok. They sent me home with a number I could call anytime overnight, directly to them, if I was worried. They do not rush you, they love on your pet and make them feel welcome. They have a soft spot for shelter and rescue pets. The staff is absolutely wonderful and so friendly. Our puppy has been to many, MANY vet appointments since we adopted him in December and hands down, no practice, no staff, and no other veterinarians have beat the experience we have had at Family Veterinary. LOVE love love this practice.

Avoid- worst of all worlds:…read more all of the questionably necessary upselling of a corporate office with all of the ineptitude/lack of resources of a small town practice. I have never been talked at more by a vet in a standard visit- 30 minutes of upselling at least. Then minimal follow up or support once your bill is processed.
