He did not lock our gate when he left...as it was locked before he started the work. Was he trying to keep us from securely locking our gate or trying to trick us in some way? He got some views of the inside of our home (while he was working). Why did he pack our privacy lock with concrete? We kept the damaged lock in case there's a break in. We would show police. This is Texas, so I don't recommend breaking into any homes. We had to beef up our security after this violation of trust. It would take me too long to go over each deceptive reply Jose made. I will cover a few. He has more to gain by telling a lie than I do. We needed a fence put in fast, so we ate his price hikes to get the job done. The former fence was on the ground in pieces (from a storm) and we needed it replaced for safety reasons. He took advantage which would not have bothered us if he did not become creepy toward the end of the job. He knows what he did and I know what he did. I only hope the folks on here will be aware of his deception...so no one is taken by JJ Construction. Jose did not offer, at any time, to replace the lock. Plus, we would not trust him to have the integrity NOT to keep a spare key. How foolish would we be...trusting Jose to provide a new lock for our privacy fencing? Our first lock worked great when we let Jose in and out...before work began. No concrete in the hole. Jose says he no longer works with his dad...as former reviews detail. So, those reviews are not as relevant since Jose works alone. Jose also told me the day before we began work that he needed us to pay 100% up front! We declined and it made us wonder if he didn't have the capitol to buy the supplies and this is a huge red flag. Jose stood in our backyard and told me he lives in Humble, TX (off of 1960). But Jose's contract shows a huge apartment complex at 3409 Brinkman St. Houston, TX 77018 (no apartment number provided). Please see attached and see a different location for JJ Construction (according to my research). He now claims his name is Jose A. Rangel and he was named after his dad. I do find a Jose A. Rangel in Humble and at a different address (see below). His reputation is not good...if this is him. One more address is a small home in Conroe. I have these addresses but don't feel right about posting publicly. Do your research and not trusting only reviews. I use my middle name and maiden name on some public forums because my first name is very unusual and people might easily recognize it. I also like anonymity for safety reasons. This is common practice. Jose (who never gave his real last name and gives a fake address) made a point of using my legal name, up front, on his reply. Jose hides his true identity but publicly reveals mine (a private citizen and not a business) without my consent. This further reveals what kind of person he is. Please do your own research before hiring Jose (with no last name). He might do the high-priced work, or he might rip you off. He might even try to break into your home after he leaves your gate vulnerable. Why take chances? Some sons are not as reputable as their father. It's a shame. I would not use him or recommend him no matter what. He ultimately gives me the feeling of a potential scammer. He ended our job with some serious creepy vibes when I asked him about why our gate lock was filling with pressed down concrete. He denied doing it but come on. No one else was here. Jose did reply to my calls until I paid him in full. We discovered a few issues with our gate (only days later). After he was paid, he let those calls go to VM. He didn't fix the gate to our satisfaction. He also tried to leave a huge gap in the gate opening and it not only looked bad and would be easier to breach, but it was against Harris County code for easier access to the latch. Jose muddies the water with figures about the code. But Jose never knew there was a code until I told him. This is what he confessed to me. If you hire him then my advice is to get a copy of his ID and take a picture of his vehicle license plate. I did the latter but not the former. Jose will also try to cut corners if you don't outline everything to be done correctly and also check his work...so the fence doesn't fall over in a few years...even if it looks good at first. Also, I could not verify his W9. Maybe you can verify it. Be sure to check the legitimacy of his insurance too. Hope you find a skilled and trustworthy fence contractor who provides you with a genuine last name and real address. Jose "thanked" me for my unfavorable review? That's odd. He should just own up to what he did or perhaps what he may have tried to do and stop playing games. Thanks for this opportunity to alert others.

Meticulous, perfection-driven, obsessed with details, hard workers, fast…read more This is a family business, with dad and two young adult sons doing the hard labor, and mom handling the business end. I have what you could call a "special needs" fence, deck, and yard. Electrical lights and outlets on the fence posts, an extra wide gate in the rear for bringing in a washing machine one day, removeable deck panel for access to AC lines, wanted the deck built on concrete blocks instead of chopping post holes into my driveway and live oak tree roots, pet turtles in the yard, and a koi pond that it was essential to not disturb the filter or plumbing or connections. Other companies didn't understand what I was needing, argued with me, or didn't speak English. But all DWS said was: Yes, yes, yes. My experience with contractors is that they're bulldozers, and I fully expected my yard and items to be trashed. Not with DWS. They carefully removed the electrical and then replaced it on the new fence posts - everything works. I had cleared the space as well as possible, but there were still items they had to move. All my garden décor, windchimes, turtle pen, etc. were preserved and neatly set where I could find them. Best of all, there was no damage to the pond, plumbing, or garden. They even did some "extra" things, like haul off pots that were too heavy for me, and trim a few branches on a baby tree. They didn't start too early (no morning noise to bother neighbors), and they wrapped up mid-afternoon. They use quick-set cement, so they can dig a post hole, erect the post, and then add rails and pickets all on the same day. They worked incredibly hard in July heat, and finished job a day early. Cleaned the driveway, sidewalk, and yard of all debris. A few things should have been hashed out better ahead of time. Type of gate hardware and locks, pergola / shade cover, retaining wall, moved the fenceline in 6" (made my yard smaller), cutting a limb off my precious live oak tree. Luckily, some of these were discussed the day before install, and were able to make last minute changes, with price adjustments where appropriate. The price for about 100' of cedar fencing and two modest decks was a gasp moment - but in line with other companies. The 50% deposit was daunting, esp for an outfit I knew nothing about, but it's in line with industry standards. Plus, they didn't ask for it until the week before install. Easy on-line pay, good communicators. The finished fence is sturdy, beautiful, and pickets all straight along the top. They hide the gate hinges for a neat look. Decks are exactly what I asked for. As an example of detail, a portion of my deck goes around the oak tree. Instead of cutting a circle out of the deck to accommodate the tree trunk, they cut the boards into pie slice-shaped wedges, so the boards fit around the tree like a pinwheel. ! This had to take amazing engineering, measuring, and cutting. Folks, there was no need to do this. This is a small deck in the back of the yard that's going to be covered with lawn chairs and potted plants and no one will ever see (except me). I can only think they did this out of obsession with detail, and had fun with the math and logistics. When they left, Dan shook my hand and told me he offers a 150% guarantee. Indeed, as the summer went on and lack of rain caused the fenceposts to shift and the gate started sticking, they came back twice to make adjustments. There's more good stuff to tell, but I'm hitting the word limit. Bottom line, I couldn't be more pleased with the people, quality, workmanship, and professionalism. You will be, too.

When researching fence companies, I bid my project out to several local businesses using the exact same specifications so I was getting an apples-to-apples comparison. DWS came in with the best price. When I requested a change to the original project scope after starting, they were transparent about the additional cost and provided a timely and fair change order. They were hit with multiple weather events, which delayed our project and subsequent projects they had on the books after ours unfortunately too. Despite the delays, Dan never rushed anything or cut corners and got the job done right. They operate honestly and would recommend to anyone looking to install a new fence.

This review is to let everyone know about my positive experience that I had with Rosales Fence…read morecompany. My home had a 13 year old fence that was provided by the home builder. Some of the original 4 x 4 posts had snapped off at the base, and I had some panels completely collapsed. I needed to replace the entire fence. I saw workers from Rosales Fence working (on the weekend) on another property within our subdivision, in addition to some other completed fence jobs. I walked up the crew to talk with them while they were on their lunch to ask some questions. They were in the middle part of the job - The old fence had been removed, and the new posts were just going in. What I was encouraged by was the fact that they physically removed to old concrete anchors the posts had been sitting in, and installed fresh posts with fresh cement. Another thing that caught my eye was where the gates went - they used 4 x 6 posts, instead of another 4 x 4. Another thing that I really liked was that I saw Welding gear and a metal frame that had been primer zinc coated. My question to them was "How much extra for having a metal frame door?" and their answer was "Nothing - we do that for every fence job" That was really cool to hear. So I called them to get an estimate. I got a very prompt call back from Felix. He was able to come over the same day to give me an estimate. This is good news to hear, since we work during the week, and only have the weekends to get projects done. I asked him to price out for both Pine and for Cedar. They were also able to provide me with a wider 8 foot gate, so that I had the option to back a trailer into a back yard. He also told me what the process would entail - typically a 2 day turnaround, with the first day for demolition and installing new posts, and second day for boarding; the same crew would do the whole job from start to finish; they would call 811 for powerlines and cable/phone; they would remove ALL of the old fencing and haul it away; install a rot board at the bottom; install 3 horizontal boards for nailing (but they're ringed coated nails) the fence boards in. I asked felix about portable fencing for in between demo and install (we have dogs that need to go outside), and he said that they will install portable orange hurricane fencing before they leave for the day. I also told him I had an in-ground sprinkler system, so I was worried about the crew damaging a line when installing the new fence. Felix told me he would walk through the final job with me, to ensure all the heads were working fine. (Full disclosure - the small print at the bottom of the estimate states that Rosales fence not responsible for damage to sprinkler heads, but Felix told me up front that he would make things right if the heads or lines were broken. He wants to put his customers at ease.) Now - was this the least expensive price quote I got for the same job from other vendors - No, it was not. But when I looked at the quality of their work and the comfort I felt for their entire procedure that they would do the best job for me. When I signed the contract; I had to wait about 8 days before they could start. Now, during this time, I was figuring that 811 would come out and mark all the lines. After not seeing any flags or paint on the ground, I called the office to let them know that 811 still had not come out. In addition to 811, I went ahead and marked all of my sprinkler heads with a flag so their crew would know where the heads were located. Now 811 didn't come out until the morning of the 1st day. If they had not had come out, I was going to stop the crew from working until 811 had marked the property. They did everything they said they would do - done in 2 days (it was actually 3 days because there was a full day of rain in between demo and install - can't blame them for weather, and I wouldn't have wanted them making a muddy mess); hauled away ALL of the old fence installed a great looking cedar fence; gave me a wider gate, and when Felix came by for the close-out walk through, none of my sprinkler heads were damaged. The only slight problem we had was that some concrete pooled over the form that blocked the head. I carefully chipped away part of the concrete, and the head popped straight up. At the end of the day - I was very pleased with using Rosales Fence for my new fence. I have attached some photos of the fence they installed so that you can see their handiwork. I would recommend them for your fence job. The review should be for 4 and 1/2 stars (couldn't give them 5 stars) because of the 811 issue.
