Great service all around. Filled out the online form and was directed to contact them for confirmation. Dani was pleasant and friendly as well as answering all of my questions. Was able to schedule the day and time needed. Since this was a procedure I was unable to drive, this service was perfect. I called the Friday before to confirm. And the 5:30am pickup can quick! I did get a bit nervous as the driver, Clayton showed up around 5:45, whew. He was very friendly and a safe driver getting to my destination on time. For pickup it was will call, and under promise over deliver with the estimated time for pickup at 1 hour with Tia (maybe Trina, so sorry) showing up in 35-40. She was also very friendly and easy conversation for the trip back. Overall I'd recommend them if you need a secure and safe ride to/from appointments. I have been using Lonestar for approximately a year. Initially, I had some bad luck with timing that left me with a negative impression. Thankfully, for me, I decided to continue working with them. I take approximately one ride a week for appointments. They are consistently on time both for the initial ride to the location and for the pick up time that I select. The vans all have multiple belts to tie down the wheelchair and to ensure that I don't move out of the wheelchair. The drivers guide you in and out and are consistently friendly and helpful, including adjusting the temperature inside the vans. I highly recommend them for those of you in motorized Wheelchairs. Scheduling by phone is easy and, once you get the hang of the information you need, very quick. read more

ADA violation?? I started to file a complaint but I figured why bother (we already know how that's going to end up) Instead, I will just leave a review of my experience.. I will try to keep it short. I'm using voice text so of course that helps lol This is the company that has the Uber contract. When you request a Uber WAV (wheelchair access vehicle) Lonestar comes. Side note the $50 Uber ride could be $150 if you call the company directly and attempt to schedule a ride. Using the Uber app I called for an Uber WAV ride. I was picked up and then dropped off at my final destination at 6:15 a.m. Then the driver logged off because it was the end of his shift. NO other driver logged on to the Uber application until the very next day. That means a wheelchair rider would have to go the whole day without any access to the transportation that would normally be provided to a person with a non-disability. That is where I feel the ADA violation comes in. I'm not a lawyer that's just my opinion. Perhaps it's a violation of the Uber contract terms with the Lone Star company?? I was at the South Austin VA. I was sitting in the back of a van and didn't notice there was a gate as we drove in. In my mind I was thinking they would just lock the doors and I would wait outside the building, plus there was a little shelter area that I could go to in case of inclement weather. The guard, a large burly fellow with a beard, kicked me out because he had to close the gates. He said I can go to the bus stop that was right outside the gate. He was cool about it and everything and I understood his position (even though it was still kind of a dick move to kick out a retired veteran in a wheelchair - He probably didn't want to share his donuts because he only had enough for himself and his partner. He wasn't going to give his Boston cream, to anybody! I was kicked out and spent the night at the bus stop. At 6:15 a.m. the next morning I was finally picked up...... Here's the kicker - I called the dispatch number at approximately 6:30 p.m. and explained the situation and that I was basically stranded at the South Austin VA. Long story short he took absolutely no action (which inspired me and prompted me to write this review - I have to do something I can't just let it slide as if nothing happened. This is my alternative to the ADA complaint). He said that someone would log on to Uber at 8:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. came and went and nobody logged on - there were no WAV vehicles available. Time went on and I eventually decided to call the dispatch number again. All I got was an answering machine on multiple attempts. In all fairness I didn't leave a message. The weather was nice so I figured just a few hours more of chilling outside and I could go back into the VA at 6:00 a.m. when they open the gate I had two appointments, my final appointment was finished at 2: 30 p.m. and I was ready to be picked up and taken back home. I finally made it back home at 6:30 a.m. Anyway, that was my experience. Lonestar doesn't really care about you, personally - it's just a job it's just a job ... read more

My first experience with lone star today couldn't have been better! As a trucking manager w/ 100 trucks and 120+ drivers I evaluate a drivers skill and professionalism in the first mile. Today's driver, Panama, checked all my boxes.. courtesy, careful, alert down the road, safety, and threads the needle in tight spaces! If he could drive an 18 wheeler, I would hire him in a minute! Lonestar Medical transportation company by day! Now has drivers available for ON DEMAND NIGHTTIME PICKUPS (at the Georgetown location!! Just think! I MAY NEVER get stuck out overnight in the winter in my 400-lb Quantum wheelchair overnight at a bus stop because the busses aren't running ? As a RollUp comic I do open mic nights around Austin, but the paratransit limits for service area and hours of operation have limited my career.... Until NOW! The driver knew his STUFF. He was very quick to load me and I felt very safe with his driving skills also! The driver was located in Georgetown so it took about :30 minutes to get to me where I was stranded in Downtown Austin on Dirty Six (W 6th but my pickup was E 6th St. With CapMetroAccess, but dispatch could not make accommodations for me to change my location when my battery acted up and I was afraid to drive back through the unlit areas if I broke down again. My original idea was to ride to the CapMetroAccess pickup location for the $8, but instead? I changed the location to home in NW Austin and it was $25! The ADA vans that cost more to drive are NOT allowed to charge the disabled more for our rides, so I offered the driver a ten, knowing he would barely break even with gas prices! In addition Lonestar also has daytime office hours for insurance covered medical rides or client covered paratrabsit by reservation during the daytime! read more

It helped us so much because we had to make a lot of decisions quickly concerning my Dad and his helpful attitude was a blessing. He put my Dad at ease which helped make his ride home easier. He again came through at my Dad's home, assisting us in his home. He went above and beyond his duty. We will ask for Clayton the next time we use Lone Star! I requested a quote on Lone Star Transport's website for a round trip to the doctor on Monday 10/23. Pickup at 2:00 p.m. and return at 4:30 p.m. No response. Then I called Lone Star Transport two days early to schedule the 2:00 p.m. pickup to take my husband to the doctor for his 3:00 p.m. appointment on Monday. Of course, they billed my credit card immediately. Monday at 2:00 p.m. I called for an ETA and at 2:10 was told it would be 25 minutes before the driver arrived. Talk about being annoyed. I called back at 2:35 p.m. and was told they had to reroute another driver and it would be another 20 minutes. When I complained about their inefficient scheduling, the agent said they use a 30-minute leeway. No one mentioned this at the time of the booking or I would have compensated. Finally, the driver arrived at 2:45. We were 30 minutes late for the medical appointment. It was only with frantic calls to the physician that they did not cancel our appointment. Upon arrival, l called Lone Star to postpone the return to 5:00 p.m. I was assured the driver would wait if our appointment ran long. To my relief the driver was there waiting. P.S. Neither driver was professionally attired as advertised on their website. read more

We have use Lonestar, because that is where my mothers long-term care home uses. I will never recommend nor try to use this medical transport people ever again. This is the fifth time this time I have been waiting longer than the window for somebody to come because of that my mother is a really brittle diabetic, and at any moment can drop rather rapidly so rapid that she doesn't even notice that she's low that could and would cause a stroke if that ever happened because of their malpractice. I would be suing them up so you know what. I do not think they even care that other people who are watching the person that is taking the ride Hass to go anywhere else for the rest of the day because of this IM missing a rather important appointment, which is so unprofessional of them, because even when I give them an extra hour of cushion to get here, they don't and there's customer service bikes they tell you one thing but honestly it is completely different. They should be ashamed of themselves because there are people mostly older who need this service and they need the service reliable. And also when you call customer service, they do not listen well and finally the worst part is that when you are waiting, you are expecting to see a logo on the van and on the shirt so that you know who's going to be picking you up and they don't have that at least not today I wanted to give them no stars, but this program does not allow you to do that read more

Great people to work for, very family oriented atmosphere. Everyone is on a first name basis which makes working so much more comfortable, and management does all they can to match your hard work up with your wages. Unfortunately my experience was not good at all. I had a very unpleasant and not terribly competent dispatcher who was also not very informative. We finally go to the point where I was getting ready to pay and she hung up on me. I called back and she hung up again. Called back three more times and received "all of our agents are busy helping other customers". This from a self-proclamed 24-hour service. They were not only very polite, extremely clear regarding regarding Lone Star's rules, policies and procedures, and clarifying any expectations or trepidatoins I may feel. On the day of the procedure, I was picked up by a gentleman by the name of Carlton. Carlton was very polite, kind and helpful to me and provided a very professional and caring experience for me. My husband is a 66 year old male, has recently lost 75 pounds, and needs a stretcher. I ordered one to transport him to have CAT scans done. The driver showed up only to tell me that he could not transport my husband because of the three steps up to my home. He told me that it was against company policy to help people down stairs - that he could not do it. I asked for him to wait while I called the office for approval. I called the office, was given approval, and when I went outside the driver was gone. My husband and I both panicked. My husband said that he would use his walker to try to get to the car. We were just about in the car when the attendant returned. I waived him on. We were charged without our approval $120.00 for a service that we did not receive. When I called to complain, I was emphatically told that this was explained to me beforehand and when I told him that it had not been, he all but called me a liar. What I want to know is this: if it had been completely explained to me, why would I have ordered a vehicle to come to my house when the first words out of the attendant's mouth were "I can't go up the stairs." UPDATE: The owner of the company just called me because she read the review and wanted to understand what happened. I told her that the reason for the poor review was that the employee I spoke with had a combative attitude and insisted I was told and was unwilling (or unable) to answer the question 'why would I request a vehicle that could not be used?' I owned a business, am retired, but told her that any employee who had talked to a customer the way he talked to me would need to be retrained or dismissed. She agreed and said that the situation would be dealt with. She also refunded the $120 which I told her was not necessary. read more
