Wayne was super attentive and had expertise in how the feet work and which are the best footwear for your particular situation. He was knowledgeable about plantar fasciitis, my gait/stride and how to correct it, and listened to everything I had to say and was able to help me find a new pair of sneakers and recovery shoes along with some compression socks. What a great experience buying a pair of HOKA shoes! This is going to be my Go To store. Walking into the store I was blown away by the very large assortment of makers, colors and construction of running shoes in the store; don't be fooled by the size. My entire experience was fun. Wayne, the proprietor helped address concerns related to my knee and ankle surgeries. He assessed my pronation and checked my feet for sizing, including the size I've been wearing. He brought out HOKA's Bondi 8's and increased my shoe size to 11 from 10! Holy Cow, what a difference...my dogs immediately stopped barking. When knowledge, insight, experience and guidance come together for the type of solution I was looking for means VALUE for me. By the way, his canine posse was in-house and I just loved it! This place is great. I've had some problems with my feet, and Wayne had me walk around and immediately identified what was wrong. He then explained what kind of shoes I needed and proceeded to show me a variety of brands and styles, only after he measured my feet. I've been wearing his recommended shoes for almost a month now, and all my back and feet problems are gone. The shoes are great quality for a good price. There are many styles and brands to choose from, along with socks, snacks, and even water bottles. Wayne is personable and friendly. I came into the store looking for some shoes to train in for my second marathon. Rico fitted me with 4 pairs of shoes, 3 of which were Mizunos! I ran my first race in their wave riders, so I was happy that he was recommending the same brand. I told him I was coming off of a foot fracture, and he analyzed my walk with such expertise. He watched me walk in all of the shoes I had tried on. I felt like the first pair I had weren't keeping my weight centered in my foot, and he could definitely tell. I had made up in my mind that I was stuck between two kinds of Mizunos, and I told Rico that I would not be making a decision yet. After returning home and checking the Mizuno website, I decided that Lone Star Running Co. and Rico deserves my business! I came back to buy a pair the next day. Unfortunately, Rico wasn't there but the store owner helped me out with my purchase. He had me try on two sizes, and agreed on the size that Rico had previously recommended. I came in today to look for some new walking shoes. I am diabetic and have neuropathy in my feet due to chemo and being diabetic. I had bunion surgery when I was 12, lately had plantar fasciitis on my left foot, and ulcer on my right big toe. Tim came around the corner and was a huge life saver for my feet. He explained what shoe would work for my feet. I needed a wide toe box (which I didn't know what that was), and he explained about wearing a straight flat shoe without any lift in the heel area. First time in years I had my foot measured for shoes. I was afraid since I have issues with my foot that I would have to take a loan out to get good shoes for my feet. I didn't, Tim found a great pair of shoes that fit nice and didn't have to apply for a loan. My feet left happy and felt great all day. Thank you Tim for AWESOME service and I will definitely be back for my next new pair of athletic walking shoes. Thank you also for helping my 92 yr old mother out the door with her walker. OMG!! Thank you Wayne!! I had MAJOR foot surgery three months ago and now need new shoes for work, where I am walking and/or standing a large portion of the day. Unfortunately, my doctor said I will have to wear flats/athletic/running shoes from now on. My physical therapist said I needed to go to a store where the staff knew there stuff because of my new foot issues. While I was looking at shoes on-line, I came across Lone Star Running & Walking Company. They are not far from my home so decided to start my search there. Wow, am I glad I did!! From the moment my husband and I walked in the door to when we left, we felt that my "foot well-being" mattered to Wayne. He took the time to explain pronation and why my arch hurt AND ALSO figured out that my "good" foot has gained a size (now a 12). He went right to the shoe that fit my needs. He took the time to honestly listen to me!!! How often do you find that in ANY kind of retail anymore!! My husband and I absolutely love this place. We first heard about Lone Star Walking & Running through some running buddies of ours who had been attending the Wednesday evening social runs. Wayne, the owner, is super cool and very knowledgeable about all kinds of shoes! If you have questions on a pair, he's likely got an answer! Having said that, he never makes you feel pressured to buy anything. When I was ready for some shoes, he fitted me for a pair after watching me walk and they worked out great. I bought a pair of shoes there and was told I could return them if I didn't like them. I found a pair I liked better when I was out of state. I did not wear these shoes but was only allowed to return them for store credit. If I had been informed of this initially I would not have purchased them.
