Ruts they created
Lee P.

My pool is fine but there are some issues. They misplaced my pool by 5 foot. This cause a patio alignment issue with the concrete. I had to pay another $900.00 for them to fix their mistake. Manny our contact/salesman would even work with me on the price. I was charged full price to fix the issue. They agree with my HOA and me to use a field behind my house to access my backyard. Instead the crew decided to take a short cut to my backyard through the community park. They broke the sidewalk, which they did repair. They also made ruts destroying the ground in our nice park. After weeks of hounding them they roughed grade and filled the holes. It still looks horrible and they so far have refused to repair it back to its original condition by putting down sod. Manny told me to go buy grass seed and it will grow back. They are willing to accept responsibility for their mistakes and complete the proper repairs. Just asking for thing to be done right.

My fiberglass form was installed at the end of January, 2021 and it's almost August. I'm left with more than $5k in landscaping and construction quotes to fix and finish it. Lonestar was supposed to level and grade my yard but they hauled off all the dirt that could've been used for this. I spoke to Lonestar and their contracted landscapers who both told me that fill dirt would be delivered and the yard would be leveled, but it wasn't. The pool sits in a block of concrete that stands a full 6 inches above the ground, surrounded by dirt, construction gravel, and chunks of concrete that the crew didn't clean up. My yard has a depression from the build that turns into a small pond when there's heavy rain. There are also PVC plumbing pipes sticking out from under my porch (where they were supposed to be hidden.) The porch will need to be extended to cover them, they're just a few feet from the pool and very visible. I've only used the pool 4 times this summer. Someone was supposed to teach me how to balance the chemicals and operate the pump controls but no one showed up to any of the scheduled appointments. The pump has about 30 settings and 25 don't seem to do anything... a user's manual was not included. I've asked Lonestar management to address the "pool school" and landscape issues but I have not heard back. Having gone through this, I would not recommend a fiberglass pool. The builders require payment in full when the form is installed but the work is only partially completed at that point.

My sewer line- that we now get to spend Memorial Day fixing. What is the point of their man who came out to make sure nothing was hit?!?

Horrible experience. Lack of communication. Lack of follow up. Lack of deadlines. Lack of closing permit. Beware.

We have a Customer who has a leaky return jet on a fiberglass pool. Called Barrier Reef to have…read morethem come out and fix the leak. I was asked by them if this was a Customer I had on service. I replied in the affirmative, that yes they were a Customer of mine; on service and that they (Barrier Reef) could talk directly to them. Imagine my surprise when my Customer calls me and informs me that Barrier Reef tried to steal the service account right out from under me, after I referred them the job. My Customer said that Barrier Reef claimed they could service the pool for a lot less then what they were currently paying and that we were charging them way too much for service of a salt water pool. Also Barrier Reef's bid for the repair was double the highest bid they had received to date. Needless to say my Customer is going with a different company. This is down right stealing and the actions of an unscrupulous business model. I will never refer them again, I will warn all the other service companies to stay clear of them and when Customer's inquiry as to who we recommend to put in a fiberglass pool, their name shall never pass my lips. THAT IS ALL!!!

The owner Richard Riley made numerous claims to personally "project manage" our pool installation…read moreafter we posed several concerns based on yelp complaints. Barrier Reef pool manufacturing reviews are stellar. Barrier Reef Pools and Spas TX needed explanation before we proceeded. Richard Riley's first lie was that the woman who worked in the office "worked for Barrier Reef Pools Florence S.C., "no relation to him or his business." Robin as it turns out is his wife! The sales manager we originally worked with "moved on." We questioned everything. "I'll personally oversee your project" was Riley's answer for every concern. We discussed that the contract had no performance clause or delay clause related to payment phases. Richard Riley stated once they start they're in and out in two weeks with good weather and that he would personally be at the job daily with his best crew and guaranteed his personal oversight. With that personal "owner" assurance which of course is NOT IN WRITING" we signed the contract on July 9, 2018 and paid $10,000 down payment. Riley said it was "actually a great time, because he was in between installations and it's the end of the season." The pool was selected and delivered July 23, we inspected it and approved on it on July 26. Excavation didn't start until 8/16. There are just too many no answers to phone calls to list in between, but the shocker next biggest lie was when we asked about the size of the pad for the pool equipment which we were putting an enclosure. He states, "Oh, you better have it by tomorrow, I'm pouring concrete tomorrow." There weren't even forms laid until October 22! There has not been a single day to date Dec 5th, 5 months as of this posting Richard Riley hasn't lied to us. The list of lies from promises to business practices and management is nothing short of complete mendacity. Every single time he says he's going to be at the job site, it's a no show. His crew? No shows. He says he's going to hire a project manager 4 months into the project to oversee the pad installation, the project manager stated he knows nothing about concrete. Best crew? Day laborers. Even when his one regular worker had truck problems on an occasion he was actually working on our project, even his employee Alvaro could not get Richard to respond to his aid in need. Everything bare none is an excuse while holding us hostage to the contract payment schedule. We pay, and he disappears, no communication. We have had several conversations about his unacceptable communication. We are now $37,500 paid into this project with proof of receipts and again he refuses to show up and finish, refuses to return phone calls and obviously refuses to finish, of course unless we pay the final payment up front unfinished. He conjures up his stated "accountants, managers, investors and controllers" and says they demand payment. The worst insult is his overt presumption we're just that stupid! Hmmmm the same accountant, manager, investor and controller refusing to finish the job... could that be Robin? Barrier Reef Pools and Spas's TX deserves a zero rating and BUYER BEWARE!!" DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH BARRIER REEF POOLS AND SPAS TX WITHOUT YOUR ATTORNEY's APPROVAL WITH AN ADDITION OF A PERFORMANCE CLAUSE! Stay tuned... there will undoubtedly be more to add to this unacceptable unprofessional installation.

UPDATE TO THE NIGHTMARE: AS soon as we posted the review below, Paul (Sales/Principal of company)…read morecalled us. He wants to all the sudden make everything right. Wants us to move forward. We asked him to come to our home to view the issues and discuss with us. He came today 6/17, never looked at anything. He is ill apparently, so he sat at one end of the pool and took notes of what we said. He stated they would have a meeting and get back to us. A couple hours later he calls with an offer $2200.00 or he fixes the issues. I said so you are trying to buy us off? Basically! I told him I would have to call him back after speaking with my husband. I call back to let him know we want the issues fixed not his pay off and that we would like to know/scheduled of when the repairs/work would take place. To which he said is impossible but he will do his best. He states everything has imperfections and its not even a big deal. Again, he didnt look at the pool closely and most issues are only seen when you are in the pool, because that's when you can see the complete inside of the concrete, bull nose, trim areas. Only if we sign a NDA would he remedy the items that his crews and him should have take care of already! Actually, never should have been left like this to begin with. I refused to sign the NDA and take down my reviews prior to the work as he wanted. So, we are left with a poor job by Aquamarine pools still. NIGHTMARE!!!!! I honestly cannot believe the reviews here, my husband and I had nowhere close to the experience that others are posting. These have to be paid reviews based on our experience. To date, we still have issues that need to be resolved and as usual Toinette says it's up to the mason guy or up to me to contact their contractor. I have received many rude texts and emails during the entire process from the team, to include Paul (sales) and Toinette as well. Our so-called new pool looks like we have had it for 10 years due to the poor workmanship. We had trenches in our yard for much longer than we should have as they didnt even know they were there supposedly. How did they not know they dug them and left them. Was told pool school Paul would clean up all their trash and fill in our trenches. Of course, when he arrived he laughed and said that's not his job. Toinette said it's just small areas until I sent her pics to let her know what we were actually dealing with. He also laughed when we asked him when we would need to use Jacks magic pink stuff that was listed as a must have item to have. Spent $89 on it and Paul said we don't need it. (they will not take them back so out of pocket here also) I made multiple complaints and not once did anyone come out to look at the nightmare we were dealing with. They blatantly did not care, DO NOT care and are awful at customer service. They get your money and then leave you with a disaster of a pool. We are still left with an unsatisfactory job. There is way too much to even put in this review. I attached pictures and screenshots as proof of our nightmare experience here posted there. Project start date was 4/1/2024. Hopefully no one else receives the same treatment as we did. I really hate having to post such things but this entire experience has left me with many sleepless nights and a lot of stress and I think they should take some accountability for how they have treated myself, my husband and our home. Who wants to have wasted $65K??!!! If anyone wants more information I would be happy to provide.
