Through zoom and later in person lessons, Ms Allison has patiently coached my child into a little pianist, capable of reading notes, playing various pieces and most importantly enjoying music. Note she teaches in the classical style, vs Suzuki method. Ms Allison has been great about encouraging my child's interest - for example, my kid likes to sing and Ms Allison, who has a lovely voice, will encourage them to sing along while practicing to keep a consistent rhythm. At other times, it was about composing little pieces on the piano when there was interest in that. My child has enjoyed the various recitals Ms Allison has put on as well. I asked my piano tuner, Brad Fant, for suggestions for other piano teachers. He gave me a short list. Two were not in Pasadena. Because I'm a Senior Citizen without 20/20 vision (its 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other), I did not want to drive out of Pasadena. Voila! Allison and I had a trial lesson at her house and we clicked. Then, Covid hit. Her partner created a great setup for Zoom lessons. She can show me an overhead shot where I can see her fingering technique. She can hold up my theory homework page, which I scan to her, and we can discuss it. Then I turn my laptop so she can see me play the current lesson music! Zoom isn't like being together in person, but I am enjoying our time each week. My husband says that Allison is the best teacher I've ever had. Lorraine K. Altadena CAME
