I am a quiet person and while I was polite and receptive to his small talk, I did not initiate or engage with it more than necessary. He made jokes about this after every single session saying that I "talked too much." Annoying, but not a big deal. However, after one particular session, when he dropped me off, he joked by telling me to "be a good girl or your mom won't give you a lollipop." You cannot make this shit up. Who says that?? I felt uncomfortable and repulsed by this strange comment. Once I passed my driving test, he handed me a stack of flyers for his driving school and asked me to put them up around my college campus to advertise him. I thought this was very unprofessional. He also took it upon himself to use some of our lessons as "highway practice" rather than preparing me for the driving test, clearly as a way to get more lessons and money out of me. In my opinion, if you are a young girl learning to drive who is not very assertive or talkative, he will take advantage of that. But take this as you will.

I was a bit skeptical at first since I was expecting Andrew to teach the course, but Juan did an excellent job at giving tips to conceptualize topics. Further, Juan is a good speaker with years of knowledge working in the industry, so he will answer any questions you may have with ease. They will provide you with slides that are great for reviewing before the exam. The best thing about this course is that they will focus on topics that have higher priority and will advise on which sections to spend more of your time on. From my experience, I would recommend reading the book prior to taking the exam and taking this bootcamp course as a refresher. You should not rely solely on the bootcamp to pass the course as the CISSP has a lot of info that may require more time to study. Note, I spent 3 months of regularly studying and crammed 60+ hours the week before the exam.

Ari had had a few pool experiences with my wife and I before starting lessons. But mostly, pools came with a lot of fear and led to a lot of crying. After starting classes at British Swim School, within just a few classes, that fear and all those tears turned into giggling excitement and happy anticipation. It's been a wonderful transformation to watch. Undoubtedly, the credit for Ari's new love of swimming goes to the caring, knowledgeable instructors at the School. Their instruction relieved any safety fears I had, and their in-pool enthusiasm -- a mix of singing and hands-on guidance -- was soon absorbed by our daughter. Recently our little future Olympian was promoted from Tadpole (i.e. dads in the water) to Starfish (essentially, one-on-one with a School instructor), and Ari's excitement for swim class has been rapidly increasing ever since. I want to thank Valbona, the manager of the Continental branch of the British Swim School, for gathering such a great group of instructors and for the personal care she's shown to Ari and all of the other students. I hosted with AFS and I did not agree with their policies. If, as a host parent, I am acceptable to…read morepick up the child from the airport, feed them, host them, care for them, love them, then why the hell am I not allowed to see them off at the airport? They put the children through extra "mandated" orientations for no other reason then to rah rah rah AFS. They are also completely inflexible when it comes to arrivals, departures, or orienations. I would highly recommend other exchange programs, but NEVER would I recommend AFS. Their vision is that they are doing the host family a favor by letting them host but rather it is the other way around. The host family is doing them a favor by hosting. Come on AFS, fix yourself or get out of the exchange game.

I couldn't pass up these negative reviews without adding my own. I can't begin to imagine the person I'd be today without having been involved with AFS for the last 45 years!
