Would not recommend. They scam you out of makeup swim classes. Fine print: you can only use makeup classes if you're enrolled in weekly classes so that means you'd have to double up in one week. Two of our classes were cancelled in one month due to weather and they wouldn't accommodate us unless we signed up for another month for $132. I don't normally write reviews but I have had such an awful experience with this Goldfish Swim School location I thought it was appropriate. I started bringing my daughter here for swim lessons in March, and at first I was pleased with the customer service, swim instruction, etc. At first we started with drop-in classes but eventually moved to the weekly spot which requires a monthly membership. Fast forward to current and we just had our last lesson and WILL NOT BE RETURNING. First and foremost, the biggest issue I have with this location is the customer service. From the owner to front desk staff, all are inadequate and the place is run like a clown show. Between them never answering the phones during business hours or returning calls to the conflicting information you get from person to person is just disappointing. We have had to cancel a few lessons and the process to drop into a make-up is so confusing. The staff tells you the time you are looking for is full, and then someone I know goes to the same lesson time and it's only 2-3 kids, this has happened several times! They make you cancel 30 days in advance and it must be done in person. If you miss a class you get a "make-up" token which is available to be used anytime within a year. I asked multiple people at the front desk including managers about using the make-up tokens and unenrolling in ongoing lessons and they assured me they can be used anytime within the year regardless of membership. Now, I am being told the makeup tokens can only Be used if I am enrolled in reoccurring lessons. This is just a horrible way to run a business and a sneaky gimmick to get people to come back. I will NOT be coming back to this location nor will I recommend it to any friends or family in the future. I would rather eat the cost of the makeup tokens then return here! If this not allowed please delete, but I feel obligated to warn parents about our experience at The Goldfish Swim School in Norwalk. We signed up our daughter last year for a swim class then Covid hit so everything shut down. (Fine not their fault) We did not ask for that missed class back or our money back. This year we signed her back up for the month to month swim classes (4 per month) We had a feeling we would never see our money back from the one from last year 2020, but now they are telling us she doesn't have anymore classes and it's the 23rd of June!!!! We paid for 2 FULL months and she missed one class this month already for feeling ill. Today is the 23rd, there is still 1 week left in the month how does she not have any classes left? The math does not add up. Here we are my daughter still cannot swim and the "manager" will not call us back to discuss. This is not about the money it's the principal, we should get what we pay for. Last response by them, via email "sure bring her back next week for a fee" WE already paid you!!!! read more

My son took a trial class last year and he loved the lesson and we joined right away. Every staffs are awesome here my son switched his class a lot but all the staffs recognized him and he moved next level class pretty quickly. I am very happy to find goldfish swim school! My daughters started at Goldfish soon after they opened and have always been happy with the staff, instructors, level of cleanliness, and attention to safety. We recently returned following their COVID closure and couldn't be more pleased with how they have adjusted to the new guidelines. When families arrive, they are greeted at the door by a staff member. Hand sanitizer and face masks are available at the door. Families are encouraged to arrive ready to enter the pool, and no more than five minutes early. Upon entering the school, there are social distancing markers on the floor throughout. Students are asked to keep their masks on until they enter the pool area. The chairs in the waiting area have been spread out to allow for distancing. They have limited the number of instructors and students in the pool at a time, and the lanes have been widened. The instructors wear face shields while working with students. All equipment is sanitized between lessons. The changing rooms and bathroom are sanitized after every use. With all of this, they are still just as welcoming as they've always been. I would encourage any family who is interested, but perhaps hesitant to enroll/return, to schedule a tour. read more

I have been brining my son here for 5 weeks now. The first 2 weeks he screamed his head off and refused to participate in the class. It has always taken him a little time to get comfortable with new things. From day one even though he was screaming and crying the swim coach still made a real good effort to include him in the class so he still got something out of it. I give them credit, that is no easy task!! For the past 3 weeks he has been LOVING it. He talks about it all week and can't wait to come back. He has already learned how to float, how to blow bubbles under water to control breathing, how to kick his feet while putting his head under, and most importantly he is now comfortable going under water! This coming from the kid who scream cries every time a drop of water gets in his eyes at bath time! Swim coaches all are great with kids which makes all the difference! One thing I will say is I think it's pretty expensive. It will take quite a few classes for the kids to learn how to fully swim, which is understandable, so I just wish it was a little cheaper to make it easier to continue to pay. I do it because it is definitely SUPER important for my kids to learn since they are in the water nonstop over the summer. Peace of mind is worth it, even if it means working a few extra hours a weeks to be able to afford it.... Thank you! read more

Concur with what the other parents mentioned below. Do not let them lead you to believe that you can ever redeem "make up tokens." We tried for months. There is never anything available. Customer service is horrible. This is a lawsuit in waiting when customers are promised to redeem their make-up tokens, the business never has any availability, and restrict you to redeem by a certain time. Does it seem like a deceptive practice to all of you? We should all at least consider filing a BBB complaint. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at the GoldFish Swim School located on Main st in Norwalk. I do not want to drag out the story, but I also do not want to over simplify the fact that they completely ruined my child's birthday. I get a call 3.5 hours before my sons birthday party telling me that they had to cancel due to a child "not following the rules." Although their was absolutely nothing I could do at that point the manager Lynn was less than accommodating and certainly never had to deal with irate customers. I was extremely upset, as any mother of a 5 year old that has been waiting for his birthday party would be. When I told Lynn that she had to find another way to accommodate us, even if that meant just utilizing the space and not the pool she denied my request and told me that I needed to just calm down. I had over 25 people that were due to show up and I had to figure something out. I had given them more than what was required as a deposit, considering you don't have to pay the full amount until the day of the party. I asked Lynn for a refund and she refused to give me my refund. I told her that was unacceptable that over $500 was spent on this place, with $175 still needing to be owed to them, and she was not giving me my refund. I asked her when she would be available to speak in person for me to receive my refund because I had to get off the phone to figure out a plan B, and she took it as a threat and replied with I was not going to threaten her and that I was not "privy" to her schedule. Mind you Lynn is the General Manager of this place! I asked her for her boss. She refused to give over the information. I asked her for a corporate office number, she stated there was no corporate. Fast forward, she tells me that she cannot show me my contract because it is shredded after it is sent to the corporate office. Yeah..... This led to me having to get police involved and subsequently the owner was contacted 2 days later and we received a refund in the form of a check. The owner then states that the General manager did not know that she was authorize to process refunds. The owner offered me a complimentary swim, but that does not make up for my childs day. He was COMPLETELY heartbroken. His party was scheduled for 2PM which gave no other place enough notice to host a party. He received no gifts on his birthday, no cake ,because Goldfish were to take care of providing the cake, and I was out over $300 in decorations, thank you gifts, etc... The place in general is BEAUTIFUL and I really wish this did not go the way that it did. Honestly if I would have received my refund the day of without the hassle of having to go down and get police involved I would be MORE than willing to go back. Hell I would even apologize to Lynn for being so angry. But this place does not deserve ANY of it. The people running the place have no sense of what it takes to run a business. All of the bottom line employees looked confused and sounded confused when I asked them questions regarding the refund policy. We started taking our daughter here for swim lessons shortly after it opened. The place itself is beautiful and very clean. At the start, we were very happy with her lessons and the instructor. However, the instructor just stopped showing up from one week to the next and my child was starting from square one each time she showed up for her lesson. Every time we thought she would have a new, consistent teacher who was aware of her progress, a new teacher would show up and it was like she was back to her first lesson. We spent months watching my daughter do the same thing over and over with ZERO progress to her swimming independently. If you're going to continue to change instructors it's important to document a child's progress. This place is more show than anything else. If you want your child to actually learn how to swim, take them to the Y. read more
