Man I love movies. I'll watch anything. Any time period or genre or language. Though I have to say I grew up on a lot of horror. Some might scold their dad for scaring them into never wanting to look at a doll the same way again, but I embraced Chucky (I was 5 when I watched it) and other monster-type things. That's why I was extremely interested to check out the new Long Island Monster Gallery. I did just that last night with fiancée in hand and it was a semi-spooky and fun experience. I say semi-spooky because this is NOT a horror house. Don't misunderstand that point. Nothing will jump out at you and the only ever-so-slight moment of a scare would be the little talking skeleton at the beginning which explains your entrance into this gallery of life-sized monsters created by artists from all over the world. To find this gallery, you'll head down a random road in Mineola near some of the industrial buildings. The pink and green window lights make it hard to miss. You also might hear the woman at the front who greets you when you enter as she explains to "head to the dead center of the room" (with an emphasis on that "dead" word...ha ha). Once inside, you basically have free range to walk around the different rooms and upstairs to check out the myriad of monster movie displays. You'll find a nice array with replicas from the Universal monsters of the 1930s and 40s (Frankenstein's monster and his bride, Dracula, the Wolf Man), classic icons of horror (Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers), some deeper horror movie fellas (Pinhead, Leatherface, Killer Clowns from Outer Space) and even a few modern movie notables (The Nun, Jeepers Creepers, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark). I was super excited to see the An American Werewolf In London display as that's a personal favorite of mine. A full room for the Sanderson Sisters of Hocus Pocus was also a nice touch. So was some classic monster movie music playing while you strolled through the displays. Each one had a plaque of information about the monster, the movie, and a cool "Did you Know?" piece that gave me some fun movie facts and trivia. Despite all the positives, I'm going four stars with this review (maybe it's like 4.5). As awesome as the gallery was, it felt like the first step in something that could be so much greater. The space was on the smaller side with it difficult to move around at times due to volume of people. A bigger building would bode so well. Plus, more space means more monsters! I definitely felt like there were a few missing (The Invisible Man to start, though maybe he was there and I didn't see him? Har har). Plus there's plenty of obscure monsters that would help horror fans grow their movie knowledge and interest. The deadites from The Evil Dead, the rest of the cenobites in Hellraiser, Pumpkinhead, Phantasm, The Thing, Brundlefly from The Fly, all the Hammer horror monster versions. The possibilities are endless! These are my horror wishes for the future. Overall, the Long Island Monster Gallery was terrific in its maiden launch by creating a fun and not-so-scary experience that allowed fans of horror on the silver screen to take in all their monster movie love at once. It's definitely a cool and unique idea during Halloween to break up the jump scares and haunted houses. Here's hoping the gallery can build to bigger and better (and I'm fine with scarier!) things next year to really make a film buff love this place.

I came to see their holiday display and wow!!!!!!! This is a MUST visit for any and all horror fans!!!!!!! Absolutely loved the monsters and the entire set-up. It's short- will take no more than 1/2 hour of your time but it's worth it! A must see!! Also wanna mention the staff!!! Super fun and friendly!!!! Will visit again!

He was free but I was $35 which I thought was very pricey. Each room had a lot going on. They definitely work hard to decorate. They have added rooms on to make it more entertaining. Jeopardy, darts and "carnival" games. Only one room was "scary" but my son didn't react, I was probably more nervous than he was. It took us about 15-20 minutes to complete since he obviously couldn't participate in multiple rooms. I think for older kids this would be great. I spoke with a family who said it took them about 30-40. I think it's definitely pricey for what it is. But not maybe places offer fun/creepy instead of a haunted house. Plus this was completely indoors. Worth a try.

RIP-OFF & Horrible Customer Service!! Normally I do not…read morewrite reviews, but the customer service I received was so wildly unprofessional that I had to get it off my chest. 1 - Service aside, this place is a rip off...it's basically just a glorified photo op with a few rooms decorated with stuff from Spirit Halloween. Not impressive at all, and only some of them were actually Halloween themed rooms. One room was literally glow in the dark faux beer pong (i've been in cooler frat house set ups) with pong tables set up with solo cups & targets painted on the wall with trash cans under it to i guess throw the pong balls at...it was so strange. The "rave" room, was a corner with blow up balls that kids could throw at each other but no music. 2 - We came at 2:30p on a sunny Sunday with 2 ADHD kids (specifically early in the afternoon to avoid crowds) - well great plan except we got stuck in with a 40 person birthday party that basically took over every room -- our kids had to either walk thru and pass the attraction without interacting or stand there and wait. When I expressed my experience to customer service and asked for a refund, they were extremely rude. At first they offered us to come back another day (which is not the rude part) - but at this point it's the Sunday before Halloween we aren't coming back. So I once again asked for a refund because the party should have been disclosed, we would have come back later in the day - and then they got nasty. Started arguing with me like a teenager and told me i was rude!! I said nothing rude at all and I did not even comment on the attraction disappointment, just about the fact that there was this massive party that took over and it was difficult to enjoy with this going on. For over $100, I expect better service and for them to disclose this when booking ticketing or at minimum when entering the attraction. They told me next time I should call in advance to ask about whether a party was taking place...as if it's not the business responsibility to manage time slots. I booked the tickets an hour before going, the time slot should have been blocked off for a party of that size. They also told me they have never had 1 complaint ever before, maybe they need to do a little self-google and see what people are saying before making ignorant claims such as that. Stay away - it's not even cool.

They were pleasant on the phone, offered me a group rate, and said that they would love to host us. 24 hour notice, and it was no problem! When we got there, they accommodated us in so many ways. My son was able to celebrate with 18 friends, some who were too scared to do everything. I walked out of the first part with tears in my eyes, doubled over laughing at how scared they were. When Poocaso did that paint brush "trick," my group almost ran up out of there. Let me not spoil any of it for anyone else, but all 4 were a hit hit hit. They even allowed us a space to set up a table for cake and goodie bags, and brought a few of the characters out to take pictures with my sons. When Cuddles came out to take a picture with my son, some of his friends took off running. This was so epic, and was made even better when one of the people told us that we were helping them fundraise. God bless you all, and we thank you for making this 10th birthday celebration amazing!!!

Everyone we encountered who worked there was so nice. Inside Fear Manor was fantastic! So spooky and fun! Lots of jump scares and unexpected things around corners. A creepy girl follows you all the way through which adds to the experience. They also have a very cool swamp effect in one of the rooms that you have to see. It's hard to even explain. You wander from room to room and every one of them is scary and great. The actors are terrific. They even respond to things you say and always stay in character. We didn't have to wait in line very long but even that was enjoyable because there is a creepy DJ playing great music that really sets the mood. An actor even showed up there on a gurney just staring at us while we waited. It was great. All in all we had a wonderful time and will definitely do it again before they close!

Chris told me that this would take 2 weeks to complete. If by 2 weeks, he meant 10 weeks, then it was 2 weeks. No matter how many times I called, nobody EVER picks up the phone, so I had to keep going in to his shop (I live 25 minutes away). I asked to have pictures of the unfinished product sent to me before the work was completed to make sure I liked it, and everything was the way I wanted it (spacing, borders, colors, etc.) After 8 weeks, I finally got an email of the pictures, and it was wrong so the layout had to be changed. Finally, after 10 weeks, after the changes, I picked up the frame. Then, I gave him much more expensive cards ($2,000) to frame and told him that this can't take 10 weeks. He assured me that this time it would only take two weeks. I told him that this frame had to be the same size as the last one since I would be displaying them together. I called after 2 weeks to see if it was done, and as usual, nobody picked up the phone, so I left a message. I said the same thing as before. Make sure you send me pictures before you seal up the frame. Of course, nobody called me back, I called 4 more times that week, left 4 more messages...not ONE call back. Then, suddenly, I get an email that the frame is done. I went in and picked it up, brought it home and noticed that not only was this frame bigger than the first one, but the borders/frames around the cards were MUCH bigger than the first ones, so the white borders of the cards could not be seen. It made the cards look much smaller. They do not look like real baseball cards; they look like imitations and copies that I've seen online. The spacing of the cards in relation to the engraved plaque was off as well. I emailed Chris again (since there is no point in calling), and he told me that he was NOT going to redo the piece and it looked just fine to him. He didn't even want to hear what the issues were. It could have been a small fix. I would have even been willing to keep the larger frame but at least change the borders around the cards to they look real. Maybe it looked fine to him, but he is in the framing business, not the baseball card business. It was not what I wanted or asked for. You can see the difference in the 2 pieces. One has a slight orange frame around the card for a nice hint of color, while you can still see the white borders, and the other where the white borders are completely covered up and there is a dominating large gray frame around the card. The two look nothing alike. I was going to sue him but it wasn't worth the filing fees, or my time for $230, which I never even got a receipt for since I paid cash. So, if you want to wait 4 times longer than it should normally take for your merchandise to be completed, have your calls ignored, have zero communication with who is doing the work, and have them make their own decisions as to how YOUR items come out.... then this is your place.
