I needed to pick up some poster boards for my kids. AC Moore was my go to place, but the location at Carle Place was closed down. We ventured across the street to Blick Art Materials .... wow. They are stocked up the wazoo with poster boards of every color and thickness ... they had an entire wall of poster boards. Granted that the poster boards are probably cheaper at Walmart, but I was able to get a thicker stock board which was not as flimsy. Checking out, the cashiers had large plastic sheeting separating them from the customers (like a bank). The selection for art supplies is definitely better here than most arts and crafts stores, but you will pay a little more for it. read more

I feel compelled to write this review. It really isn't about the store itself nor most of the employees who work there (who are always so helpful). It's about the particular manager who was on duty on 12/21/21 at around 12:30 pm or so. I didn't ask for her name, but she is young-ish and has long dark hair. Also, unlike the other employees who wore masks as ordered by the Governer of NYS as of 12/13/21, her face was fully visible as she had no mask on whatsoever -- not even on her chin. None at all. Also, she is very, very loud when she speaks: lots of potential to infect others if she is positive for Covid. Why she wasn't wearing a mask is beyond me: I don't know if she was vaccinated. I DO know she was the only employee on the floor at Blick's not wearing a mask when I was there. Obviously, people should think twice about shopping in-person at Blick's. Maybe Blick's should talk to its management about taking the mask mandate seriously? read more

So I am raising the stars to 4 after my amazing visit to the store today. My G bought me the amazing hugemongus set of Prisma Colored Pencils. These pencils are so nice and so easy to blend. It was a fantastic anniversary present. I have been using the pencils for about a month, so I headed to Blick to purchase a sharpener (G said just use the electric sharpener...he is so funny). When I was browsing the aisle there were so many sharpeners to choose from and I had no clue which one I should purchase. One of the store employees (I totally forgot to get her name but she was fabulous) was so helpful and showed me many types of sharpeners and gave me some recommendations. I finally made a decision on the Prisma sharpener, but my purchases did not stop there. I also purchased some blending sticks, a sander (for the blending sticks), this really cool eraser and a very weird paint by number set. The employee at the register was also super nice and friendly. The store was having a class up in the front of the store and the store was not overly crowded today so shopping was a pleasure. I wish all of the visits could be like this one! read more

I had been to this Blick location quite few times, for my painting brushes and colors, and some stretched canvases. They have pretty complete stock of art supplies, from watercolor, acrylic, oil painting, to framing and various types of easels. This time I was coming for my annual framing on Black Friday when they had the biggest sale of the year, which was 60% off!! Scott was super wonderful on the service and thoughtful with each single piece of my artwork. His name stuck in my head the first time we met, because his sophisticated depth of customer service made all his customers feel respected. There are year round savings in the store, and without surprise, the more you buy the more you save. They have few private parking spaces in front of the store. If it's during weekdays, there's always couple spaces available. Staffs were friendly and attentive. Blick will continue to be my spot for art supplies! read more

I purchase a lot of art supplies! I take classes in all mediums and always look to try new things. I buy from everyone and everywhere and, in my mind, Blick's is the best! I buy in store and online. In store I know I will get all the advice and service I'm looking for. Online, they have everything and Blick's is one of the very few companies that takes the time (or has the knowledge perhaps) of how to package art supplies for shipping. I love the convenience of Amazon and their next-day or two-day delivery, but what good is it if the pencils arrive broken or the paint tubes are squished! I'd rather wait an extra couple of days and know I'll get it in good shape. Also very easy to return or exchange. Let my just sum it up by saying that a day that includes a stop in Blick's Glen Cove store is a good day! It's my happy place!! read more

Blick is geared to more serious artists and hobbyists but I was able to find a couple things I needed for a project. I went shopping with a friend who is an art student and the place was like candy-land for her. The store is neatly laid out and the staff are very knowledgeable about the products they carry. They can also offer great advice as many of them are art students. Although I do not have many reasons to go to an art store, the professionalism of the staff makes Blick my first choice to check for any crafty project I undertake. They have some funny art-inspired games and knick knacks. Their registers are located on the left when you walk in. They carry aisles and aisles of paints and have starter kits which would make great presents for people interested in starting art. read more

Good prices and super friendly staff! These people know pretty much everything UNLIKE at Michaels where they are like "Duh...what's a pencil?" Register line moves faster than McDonalds line! Even during CHRISTMAS ! Incredible! Parking notation: The BLICK parking lot is attached to a Dollar Tree and it can be a MESS on weekends: I park in the BIG LOTS shopping center and walk over to BLICK. Much easier exiting (as I am going NORTH not SOUTH towards the mall). IGNORE the "you will be towed" signs in that shopping center..... I asked many employees there if they really tow and they said "no". There is NO TRAFFIC LIGHT when you exit BLICK's parking lot and I have seen many accidents right there. BE CAREFUL !! read more

I'm a recent retiree, ready to "graduate" from paint nights. I kind of knew what I needed, but definitely wanted some guidance to make sure I was getting the right supplies. After looking online at Amazon and Blick, I decided I wanted to see the paints, brushes, etc. in person and get some help. Blick is close by, so over I went. As I entered I was greeted by a pleasant young man named Tom. He couldn't have been more helpful. Low key, no pressure, just really helpful advice. I now feel like I have everything I need to start my new hobby, and the price was reasonable. The store is laid out nicely and has a nice selection of art supplies, a kids' section, frames and a bit of craft supplies. The cashier and another sales person were also pleasant and helpful. Sad to say this is not the norm nowadays, so I really enjoyed the shopping experience. Plenty of parking, easy to get to. If you're looking for an art store other than Michael's or Pearl Paint, get yourself to Blick! Heck, after Pearl Paint closed, there aren't many other places to go to! I've gotten a few random things here - the staff is always helpful. The simple fact that this is the only Blick on Long Island (your other closest bet is SoHo in the city) makes it super cool. The store is usually pretty empty, though, so I hope they make enough business to stay in business! read more

I recently got into painting. It's something that I always wanted to do but never had the time. I started teaching myself through web YouTube tutorials. I found Blick by chance online. When I visited the Carle Place store I was amazed of the wide selection they have. The sales people were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and very helpful. Oh I like you, Long Island Blick. You and me are going to get along just fine. Heading south from Jericho Tpke it will be tucked away on the right hand side just past an overpass on Glen Cove Rd. It comes up quickly which is probably why I've never noticed it before. In my recent poking of Long Island's art stores/art supply stores, this is my new favorite. Good canvas selection, good paint selection, good prices. Students and Teachers get their Blick discount card for free. Staff available but not oppressively on top of you asking you what you're painting next. Small enough to not get lost in. Big enough to have/find everything you need. Kitschy offerings on the store perimeters. I imagine you'd also be able to find a good selection of art products here as a primary school teacher. Also, it's not so crowded you have to wait forever, like shopping at Michaels. In short a well stocked art store an introvert can live with! Or shop in! Something! Thank you Blick! :D read more

It has a good inventory of supplies. The place is clean and organize. However, I felt that the employees are not willing to help a costumer. It might be the time of day or even the day of the week but a good costumer service will go a long way. I am not asking for employees to be very vigilant like car salesmen/saleswomen but if a costumer asking for a certain product for a couple of times the lease an employee can do is assist the costumer. So I came in today to get art supplies for my little sister for her college class. We asked one of the workers named Erika to help us find an item and she was straight up rude. She wouldn't even look at me as I was talking to her. She was not friendly at all and stared at me like I had two heads and she didn't want to help. I was polite when asking her but she was extremely rude. Eventually my sisters and I decided to ask another worker, Miguel to help. He was very kind and willing to help us where the items were. He even showed us the way and helped pick the items out. When it was time to check out, we actually happened to get Erika as our cashier-just our luck! Of course she was rude as well and even told my sister to move the shopping cart out of her way. We overheard another cashier mention about a customer discount if you're a student. Erika didn't offer this to us and it seemed as if she didn't want to be there. The store is nice but this review is for this terrible employee! Unbelievable!! read more

After class I decided to take a trip to Blick and stock up on my art supplies for the new semester. I needed help along the way and asked an associate named Erika to help me look for some supplies. She was super unfriendly and gave me attitude the whole time. This was my first time shopping at this location and I didn't know my way around the store. Instead of being helpful and actually walking me to the product, she just pointed and gave me attitude. After this incident I will not be shopping at this location again. Today was my first time (that I remember) ever going into Blick. Right when I entered I was greeted and within minutes I was asked by a sales associate if I needed help. I said not at the moment and I continued on looking. I then proceeded to ask another associate for some advice on what paint he recommended for use on canvas, and while he answered my question after he was done just kinda left and didn't ask if I needed anything else. I continued to look and a younger associate, the one who originally asked if I needed help, once again asked if I was finding everything ok. I informed him I was new to painting on canvas and was looking for he basic supplies. He helped guide me to all the supplies, gave me some of his personal experiences, and really showed me a nice variety of stuff so I could pick. He was very kind, really wanted to help, and was passionate about painting. Honestly I wish he gave me his name so I could say it in the review, but definitely one of the best employees I've seen in any store in a while. Along with this Blick has an amazing selection of products and if you need it they probably have it. They also have some nice deals and sales and I saved a decent amount (although I didn't notice one of the brushes I bought was $90 until after I paid, but if I was more careful I would have noticed). I wish the store was arranged in a better way, as some items aren't close with the other items that go with them. And where you check out is very tight and hard to navigate with a cart. Honestly I loved my trip there and as a beginner painter found the sales associates very helpful and informative. Definitely recommend them. read more

This was our first time in the this store & for an artist it is like their Home Depot or lowes! We went to blick yesterday to have our paintings galleried stretched and Scott helped us. He was knowledgeable, patient and very informative. We decided after much discussion to have the canvas stretched there. In two weeks we can not wait to pick up the finished art work!
