Wow! What a great Long Island experience. This is really a hidden gem. Great family outing to enjoy a professional basketball game. I refuse to hear any naysayers talk about how this isn't the same. This is a great place to bring your children, let them enjoy the sport and feel the experience of a live game without the rowdy alcohol infused environment of the Garden. No ridiculous traveling and parking in the city and no city prices. I was very fortunate to be invited to this event by Yelp and enjoyed the VIP lounge with food and drinks. The staff were 1000x more friendly and considerate. These are our neighbors folks. They work and live Long Island! There is not a single reason you can't come and enjoy a game. Shout-out to my former Georgia Tech classmate, Shaun Fein, for coaching the Long Island Nets for 42 games in 2019 and 2020. Fein took over for Will Weaver who's now an assistant with the Houston Rockets. Weaver led the Nets to the 2019 Eastern Conference Championship and an appearance in the NBA G League Finals. The Nets lost in three games to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. It was only the Nets' third season in existence. Weaver was named 2019 G League Coach of the Year. Aside from the successful 2018-19 campaign, the Nets haven't finished above .500 in the regular season nor qualified for the playoffs. However, this franchise is still getting off its feet. The Long Island Nets are the Brooklyn Nets' G League affiliate. Other G League teams that share the same team name as their parent club include the Agua Caliente Clippers, the Austin Spurs, the Iowa Wolves, the Lakeland Magic, the Maine Celtics, the Santa Cruz Warriors, the South Bay Lakers, the Stockton Kings, the Westchester Knicks, and the Windy City Bulls. Currently, 11 teams. The league has 29 teams total for the 2021-22 season. The Nets play in Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale on Long Island. With a seating capacity of 14,500 for basketball, it's one of the biggest venues in the G League. The building is old. It opened in 1972 and was renovated in time for the Nets' second season, beginning in 2017. I really enjoyed the game! Sitting court side was nice and the VIP lounge was a whole mood. There were hot dogs, chicken tenders, salad, pretzels, cookies, brownies, soda. It was served buffet style. The lounge was in a room separate from the game. We ate our food there and took some snacks in with us to the game. Once you leave to watch the game, you can still come back later too. They give you wristbands so you can access the buffet later. We were so close we could smell the players sweat. The game was good too. They really had us in the first half, but they pulled it together and won in the end. The game wasn't very full. It was, however, a Wednesday. I wasn't expecting a packed stadium. The facilities seemed clean and staff wore masks. It was difficult to find where the dining was.... I asked several staff members and they all said contradicting directions. The third person I asked brought me to a fourth person and they were able to show me the way. I think stag should be on the same page about services. Other than that, it was a good time! read more

COURTSIDE!!! She drops the mic & walks away! I mean really! What more needs to be said? I felt like Billy Crystal & Spike Lee for those brief few hours. You don't really know what it means to sit courtside until you've done it & had a super tall dude almost fall in your lap (my cousin said just hang on tight LOL) or a ball almost slam you the face!! Adrenaline rush people!! It was Jewish night so there was dancing & activities for the kiddos. There was also a prayer & menorah lighting. Pretty cool to experience all this while attending a basketball game. I loved it! The VIP Lounge was super cool. I definitely overindulged in the Pastrami department LOL. They had a nice variety of items. Chicken Parm, Wings, Mac & Cheese, Pastrami & Hot Dogs of course! Nadia was as sweet as always. Making sure everyone was ok. We had VIP access which included food and drinks for free except for alcohol. The food was good. The fried chicken had season and everything. It was the Oatmeal cookies for me though. What a fun day! Our outing to watch the Long Island Nets started with some VIP treatment at the Grant Thornton VIP Lounge. We were treated to a lunch buffet, which had a great selection of bites. There were bites of cheese, chips, and dips. I had a delicious salad that had lots of veggies and chickpeas. I tried the mac and cheese, which was creamy and cheesy, chicken parm, and broccolini. They also had nice platters of fruit and brownies. After lunch, we made our way to our seats, which were court side! This was really cool. We had a front and center view of all the action of the game. It was really exciting being so close to the players. Everyone at the Nassau Coliseum was great. These are always a fun Yelp elite event! The arena is barely full but it's nice to watch a game and not be crowded in with a bunch of strangers. The games go by quick but we still always manage to have fun at these events. The only downside is you cannot expect the concessions to be open during these games. Since it's such a low attendance there is only one concession open selling the usual (hotdogs, burgers, White Claw, and Bud Light). I tend to stay sober during these events since I don't mess around with the claw os Bud Light. Still a fun experience! read more

I went to a preview game and unfortunately I only got there late in the third quarter, with the Utah team behind by over 20 points. So all I saw for the next 15 minutes of play seemed like a foul fest. I finally stood up with 5 minutes to go I funneled my hands and loudly shouted at a moment of silence "HOW ABOUT A FEW SHOTS WITHOUT FOULS, FELLAS?" and something similar a few moments later, "SOME SHOTS WITHOUT FOULS WOULD BE NICE!" Utah's strategy was to force the Nets to make their foul shots to win the game and although the refs made the game as close as possible, they let the home team win by a few points, to hopefully stimulate fan interest. They distributed free tickets for the Sunday, April 2, 2023 game, so I urge you to go if you can. It was fun and the gymnastics team show was fun too. read more

To mirror my fellow Yelpers - I am atomized I didn't know LI had its own team! And to boot, a game is chock full of activities while being really affordable. I am so gracious for the VIP treatment the Nets, Nassau Coliseum and of course our fabulous Yelp crew set up for us. I've been to the new Coliseum a bunch of times but haven't had the privilege of experiencing the Grant Thornton VIP room. They put on a pretty great buffet! I really loved their sweet potatoes, the broccolini and asparagus and oh man, those brownies - to die for! Also, their fruit platter had starfruit, very fancy. They also served hot dogs, chicken parm, meatballs and some other fare. I definitely grabbed a bag of popcorn to enjoy during the game and popped in during halftime to get another brownie and doughnut. Courtside seats are really fun and you feel a part of the action. Also who doesn't fee a bit like a celebrity sitting there? Hello Beyonce, Jay-Z? It's me Laura when we hitting up a game together? Even if you don't like basketball or don't care about it, it was fun to watch. I haven't been to a basketball game since high school. I had a blast at yesterday's LI Nets game courtesy of Yelp! Honestly, this event was VIP status all the way and it definitely felt like it! Yelp provided floor seats for the game which was a completely NEW experience for me! Now I know how the ultra wealthy and celebrities feel when they attend basketball games. Sitting on the floor is a whole new perspective of the game of basketball than sitting in the stands! Before the game we had access to the VIP Lounge where there was a lovely buffet set up for us. There were lots of great selections and the brownies were to die for! I couldn't have asked for more. Nassau coliseum is a great venue and our swag bag at the end was also a nice added surprise. Please don't judge me but this is the first time I've ever been to Nassau Colosseum. That's why I did not hesitate to rsvp even though I'd just completed a 27 hour shift at work I was NOT going to miss this fabulous YEE Drew gave such excellent instructions for our complimentary VIP parking and ticket pickup at the box office To start I enjoyed the spacious comfy VIP lounge and tasted some of my faves including Nathan's hot dog, chicken parmesan, Pastrami, mac n cheese, brownies, even popcorn to go while watching the game Nadia,like a ray of sunshine, greeted us warmly. After we enjoyed our tasty bites she helped us get together and find out seats The Game: it took me a while to get over how amazing our seats were. Literally floor seats! You could stand on the court! The game was great. Sitting up this close you could see the small gestures and hear the words exchanged by the players. LI Nets led till end of 2nd quarter. After that it was so close right until the Lakeland Magic won! Madison Wright from NYCB Public Relations checked to make sure we were all having a great time. She handed us each and LI Nets Swag bag! It was so great to catch up with Zaneta and Devon, Christina and Nadia. Also got to meet fellow Yelper, Staci. What a surprise to learn that there was a basketball team playing in the Nassau Coliseum affiliated with the National Basketball Association Brooklyn Nets. Although, I was slightly embarrassed that I had no knowledge of this league, especially since I have been a fan and player of the game all of my life. The Yelp Event was top shelf starting with a VIP Lounge that had a food buffet with plenty of choices and the best was they provide us courtside seats. The lounges was very comfortable and wonderful place to enjoy pregame and halftime break. But what I enjoyed the most was the watch the game from courtside seats which engulf me into the game Since I follow NCAA basketball I recognized some of the players from their days playing College hoops. It was quite enjoyable to watch these recognizable names playing the game they love with the hope that they may have that chance to play in the NBA. Overall it was a wonderful evening. I surely will attend additional games with friends that enjoy the game as much as I do. And also to watch young talented basketball players mix it up. read more

I love trying new things and going to different places so when I saw Yelp had a basketball game on Long Island I was super hyped. I've been to baseball games with my job, but always wanted to go to basketball game, so here was my chance. Such a great experience .. I met up with my cousin Christina J , saw a couple familiar faces and of course Nadia! We started off with the buffet in VIP Lounge, nice variety, the wings that I ate down to the bone, chicken parm, meatballs, Mac and cheese, broccolini, pastrami, popcorn, cheese, assorted fruit and delicious brownies. Following my cousin I ended up at the bar. Glad we came early for that. Once we walked in, there were college tables so I took a couple of pens , idk why but I collect pens lol. They had a nice area for the kids with a big blow up jump thing, dance game and music, they had a blast. The hype team had their legs up in the air, Jewish festivities, so much extra stuff that you wouldn't imagine at a game but such a great addition. Last but not least , the court side seats were amazing, didn't have to wear my glasses, got to see the players up close and personal. Felt very involved in the game as I dodged the ball a few times, ref running so close to my feet, the guys hanging on the rim, skidding across the floor, a lot of up close action. Got a few gadgets at the end in a Nets bag, water bottle, bracelet and stress ball, I collect gadgets too lol. Overall great game and bonuses, the Nets and Magic's put on a good action filled performance. Awesome YEE event at Nassau Coliseum. What better way to watch a b-ball game then court side. Such an awesome experience. Nassau Coliseum has opened my eyes to coming to events or games here. The stadium is clean, the staff are super nice and a huge plus the bathrooms are large, bright and clean. I have never thought of coming here for a sporting event. This was my very first basketball game and I truly enjoyed watching the Nets game. They had a VIP section which had food and drinks that were pretty good and a surprise for stadium food. They had everything! Wings, Mac n cheese, zucchini, asparagus, meatballs, Chicken etc. They had a carving station, a fruit station, salads, and simple but my favorite was the popcorn and the brownies that you can also fill a paper bag up and take to the game! Had a spectacular time watching the LI Nets play at Nassau Coliseum. To be honest, I had no idea there was even a G League basketball team playing at Nassau Coliseum. Thanks to Yelp, we were lucky enough to sit courtside to watch as the Nets beat the Swarm. It was so exciting to watch as we sat so close to the players. We also had access to the VIP Grant Thornton lounge where you could of purchased beverages from their private bar or have dinner from their buffet. My favorite was the chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese :). They also had a cookie platter for dessert! There was ample amount of seating for people who wanted to sit down at a table and eat rather than eat on the floor. I can see how this would be a great time with the family with special deals during the week such as kids go free and dollar hot dog night. Entertainment from Dale the Eagle and his hype up team was great, kept the crowd engaged. I would definitely come back and check them out again. It was so much fun! read more

This was an awesome game and experience in general. I have been able to check out the Grant Thornton VIP lounge 2 times before. It was better experiencing it with fellow YES members at the Nets game. I'm not going to get into specifics related to the offerings inside the VIP lounge but will say that the spread at the Nets game was a little bit better. When we arrived it took us a little time to find out where the VIP parking was. This actually kind of worked out because I got dropped off and picked up the tickets. They were having issues at the Ticketmaster will call window but by the time they got to me it was very smooth. The VIP lounge is nice. They have the food in the back of the room separate from the bar. The spread had Buffalo wings that I thought were very good. Spicy and crispy just the way I like them. The hot dog bar was good too. There were plenty of toppings to add to your dogs. The other stations were meatballs, which were very good, some chicken parm. that was good as well, some mac and cheese that was very good and some broccolini and asparagus (that I didn't try). On the other side were some pastrami and some potatoes. They also had some dips, cheeses, popcorn, fruit and a brownie tray. Everything was good and the staff did a nice job keeping everything fresh and clean. This was better then the previous two experiences in the lounge as they had a better selection of foods to try. The game itself was excellent. We had front row floor seats. This was very cool. I was so close to the bench that I heard the conversations that the players were having with each other. They were some very talented ballers. I am sure that we are going to eventually be seeing some of them in NBA uniforms in the next couple of years. I thought that the overall experience was really top notch. I also read one another review that they have some specials like dollar hot dogs and 2-dollar beers. That is what I am talking about! Never in my life would I have imagined myself sitting court side at a basketball game. Thanks for that experience, Yelp Elite Event! I'm one of those have to be there to appreciate the sport kind of person, and boy did I enjoy that game. Both teams played really well, keeping it a nail biter til the end, but ultimately the Long Island Nets won the game (as they should, LI represent!). Loved the experience and the crowd. The hype people kept the crowd entertained by giving out shirts, having friendly competitions on the court in between time outs/half time, and allowing the crowd to be shown on the big screen. The Grant Thornton VIP section was a nice experience as well. There was your typical sports food, ie chicken fingers, fries, and of course, no b-ball game would be complete without hot dogs. The one thing I was not a fan of was the rosemary water, but that's just personal preference. There was a ton of space to sit and enjoy your food, or just to hang out and grab a drink. I would absolutely return to watch another game, maybe bring my little cousins since it seems to be a family friendly atmosphere. read more

What an awesome event this was! I was excited for this event because it let me see the new building and also check our very own Long Island Nets. I love a good two for one deal. The new Coliseum is beautifully designed with fresh, modern, and spacious interior. It was nice to see that all that hard work building it paid off. First off, we got to sit court side which is some next level Spike Lee stuff. Secondly, the VIP lounge area was luxurious but with out the pretense. They had delicious dips, cheese and crackers, a yummy mini thanksgiving spread, mac and cheese, and last but not least HOT DOG BUFFET. After stuffing my face (like a lady) I grabbed a beer and headed COURT SIDE (humble brag). We were so close to the action it was insane, an actual basketball player fell in our laps it was incredible. The game was great, and all the mini games and performances in between periods were also so fun to watch! Overall, I would definitely come back and will be suggesting to friends for upcoming birthdays. Let's go Nets! read more

The Yelp Elite VIP event at the Long Island Nets was 5 stars! Courtside seats, yummy eats was a swish! This was my 2nd time coming to see the Long Island Nets. Great team with hustle. Affordable way to enjoy a professional caliber game without the super inflated NBA prices. The only reason I give 4 stars overall is the concessions. They do have nights with specials like $1 hot dogs or cheaper beer, but otherwise the price of food and beverages is a bit out of hand. I get it, that's more the venue than the Long Island Nets have control over, but if you really want it to be truly family friendly, you have to lower the price points of food and drinks. The games are very fun to watch and you can get great seats for cheap! I will definitely be back because I love basketball. read more

Fact: I love all things minor league. Though I've never heard of the G-league (is that like AA baseball?) it's still a great excuse to get out for a night of sports to the coliseum. The players are pretty good too! Saw some great plays and plenty of dunks. Ticket prices are super affordable and they have deals on most weeknights ($2 beer night, $1 hot dog night, etc.). You can come here with pals or the fam and not break the bank. If you have lil ones, they set up a 'fun zone' next to the court with a bouncy castle and other activities if your child can't sit in their seat for too long. If you choose to go for the VIP package, the buffet is really well done and those seats... amazing. Support local and come on out to a game! For the price of a lobster roll you can watch sports and have a few beers. Not too shabby. read more

I'm not into sports at all, and I've actually never been to a real basketball game in person. First time for everything, and it's good to have the experience at least once in your life. I have however been to Nassau Coliseum before and I wanted to see the renovations they'd done. It looks really nice, everything is clean and updated. The VIP lounge was awesome. There were TV's inside so you can watch while you eat, full bar, buffet, and dessert station and the food was actually good. I've never been to a a venue like there where the food was anywhere near above average. It pays to be a VIP. They had a selection of hot dogs, wings, pastrami, meatballs, chicken parm, and much more. I tried nearly everything. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the meatballs. They were pretty dry and flavorless. Our seats were located on the floor right near all the action. There were a few close calls where I was bracing myself for impact. Fortunately it never actually happened. The Nets definitely played a solid game from what I can see, but again I am no expert in basketball. It was a Sunday Funday indeed. Nice to see you all. I came here for the Yelp Elite event and had a great time! I didn't even know that the G league existed, let alone that they were right here on LI. I'm so glad I came out and learned more about the LI Nets! This was the first time I came to the coliseum since the renovation, they did a fantastic job with the renovation, it's beautiful inside! The team was great- if you love basketball and just want an evening of good basketball with friends, this is the spot! Conveniently located on LI, plenty of parking- only around 5 bucks for parking - and from what I gathered, the tickets for games are incredibly affordable! I will definitely be coming back with some friends to enjoy some more games here. I had a bit of a rough start- it could be that they were overwhelmed with the crowds at the box office however it took them a while to figure out where my tickets were and once inside the ushers all gave me different directions to get to the lounge. After a frustrating start the rest was smooth sailing. The lounge was beautiful, clean, couch seating as well as high chair seating. There are also TV screens in there so you can catch the game if you wanted to spend some extra time in there. There was a huge buffet with a wide variety of food- hot dogs, to chicken parm, different dips and chips, fruits and even dessert- they had it all covered! There was also a full bar across from the buffet. They supplied brown bags so you can pack yourself some snacks to munch on while the game was going on. One of the event coordinators, Madison, stopped by and introduced herself to us and told us to reach out to her and she also got us some sweet swag bags. Been to two of their open tryouts. Last year was run very smoothly in Brooklyn. This years on Long Island was a joke. $157 each player and they accept way too many entry's. All about the money. Coaches are pretending to evaluate or unable to properly because too many players. Witnessed one of the coaches point out a giant puddle of sweat. He was too fat and lazy to blow his whistle To stop play to get a towel which he should have been in possession of already. Instead letting the players come down right in front of him putting them at risk. Another coach said we have too many players so your drill at this station is just dribble up and down like you are junior high. Really this is what we are paying for? Everyone should have been reimbursed and issued an apology. No wonder no one goes to see the Long Island nets or even knows about them. read more

Last season,after participating in a kid's on-court event, my young son was promised free tickets to an upcoming L.I. Nets game by season's end, which he never received. When I inquired about it with a L.I. Nets executive, he apologized, and promised us free courtside seats for the 2018-2019 season opener, WHICH WE NEVER RECEIVED. Again, I was apologized to. Once is an oversight. Twice is just a blatant lie. They lied to my young son about free tickets, and then apologized. They lied again, and then apologized. This is how my son was thanked for participating in a kid's on-court event. Lying to children is not the best way to get people into the stands, and from what I could see, they need all the help they can get. read more

Our Yelp elite outing started with VIP parking very close to the event which was appreciated due to the rainy weather. I then picked up my ticket and went to the Grant Thornton VIP lounge which was quite attractive. They had several buffet station including a Italian food station with very good meatballs and mac and cheese as well as a frankfurter station and a salad station.All of the food was quite good. I then went to the game. The LI nets are a G league developmental team ( like AAA for baseball)for the Brooklyn Nets. The seats were spectacular putting me at court side. In fact the seats were so good then went I made a positive comment to one of the players he high fived me! This was an excellent event and commend Drew for his choice of this venue. read more

Watched the Long Island Nets play through a yelp elite event and I totally would go back to see another game on my own. I liked how the coliseum wasn't super packed and I could really enjoy the game. During time outs they do activites out on the court to keep everyone enaged even when the players aren't playing. They toss out shirts into the crowd which is a cool way to get a souviner shirt. And after looking up the tickets prices I must say this would be a really good date night/family outing event during the week or weekend. The weeknight game started at 7pm & ended at 9:30, just the perfect time. And with less crowds means less traffic leaving the staduim!
