After talking to a number of companies, I contacted our real estate agent from 18 years ago, Jeremy Zucker. He recommended Long Island power solutions and my representative the wonderful David Kowalsky. One of the scam companies I had spoken with and never signed a contract nor indicated I wanted to move forward - after almost a year- out of nowhere, applied for a permit to put solar panels on our house. We live in Yonkers. I was horrified! I had no communication with them and they did this behind my back. It took a couple of months to straighten this out because a fine had to be paid by them to remove the permit. We first needed to put a new roof on before putting solar. It was such a scam and the company was located actually out west. That's when I called my real estate agent Jeremy and asked for his advice because he went solar and was extremely happy, and he had done all of the research. We took Jeremy's advice and we are thrilled! From the very beginning, it was a pleasure working with David Kowalsky. Not pushy. Very easy to reach at any time. He answered all of our questions, very straightforward and was always there for us. He searched around to find the best financing and any of the New York incentives. We first had to get a new roof on our 100 year old house. Once we got our new roof, we moved forward with Long Island power solutions. Everything went smoothly with them and they made the process actually enjoyable. Once they came out to install the panels on our 100-year-old colonial house, we didn't even know what they were here. It was very smooth, and they finished perfectly within the day and put up protection against the squirrels and raccoons of which we have a lot. I was afraid of them getting on the roof and destroying things. Where we live, we have a lot of wildlife. When they finished that day, they left our yard cleaner than when they arrived. We went online finally last September. We have the Ephase app on our phones and enjoy enormously, seeing minute by minute how much power we are drawing in from the sun. We even get power on cloudy days. Like everyone around the New York City and Westchester area, we have been stuck with consolidated Edison, which is a monopoly and for profit. Our bills have been jumping sky high and ConEd has been pocketing huge profit from everyone in this area that are stuck with them. We are so happy to have solar! We have only great things to say about this solar company. We have only had excellent interaction with them and the panels are working great and our representative David Kowalsky is always there for any questions that we have. Highly recommend! read more

I contracted with LI Power Solutions for a solar system on my home. Charles, salesman, was very nice and helpful. We unexpectedly decided to sell our home, and cancelled the solar. LIPS had already obtained permits for project. When I notified Charles, he suggested that perhaps I leave remainder of my first payment (deposit) with them and we could try to spec out a system on the home we moved to. We are doing reno's to the home we moved to and decided not to move forward with solar. I let Charles know and asked if we could get balance of our deposit back (of course net of any expenses LIPS had incurred). Charles said he would see what he could do and ultimately passed the ball to the owner Joe, saying he was "just a salesman" and could not do anything else. I left messages/emails for Joe, but he didn't respond to a single message. If he responded and said no that my agreement didn't provide for any return of monies, I would have understood. (maybe not agreed but understood). But to ignore messages/emails from a client, does not seem right. read more

I chose this company over several other local installers like Momentum, EmPower, and Green Logic, but ultimately had a mixed experience. While the sales team was professional and assured me they had extensive experience with the strict solar regulations in my area, there was a significant gap between those assurances and the actual permitting process. I was initially told I would only be responsible for a specific village application fee (should the village deny the proposal). Unfortunately it was denied, I was charged $2,500 for various fees including site surveys, administrative costs, and architectural drawings. The project unfortunately did not work out, and the most frustrating part was the permitting and billing hurdle. I had to spend a considerable amount of time negotiating with their customer service team to lower those initial fees, eventually settling on a $1,000 charge for the work performed. They seem like a decent local company, but their internal processes--especially within the permitting department--need better alignment with the promises made by sales. My advice to others is to double-check every detail in your contract before moving forward. read more

I've been solicited by many solar companies in the past before running into jo at power solutions. I've done a lot of research on the solar business before joining with LIPS, the prices I've gotten from this company has been the best out like 15 different companies and I was able to get REC panels along side with Enphase inverters. Jo has been very good in regards to communication before and after signing contracts which is way better than previous experience getting into contracts. He wasn't snobby or pushy .. he made it make logical sense to a point where I felt comfortable. Their programs made sense as well.. it wasn't one of those lease scam programs where you're locked in for eternity.. When I signed the contract in February I realized I may want to add panels to my agreement which I thought would mess up the process but they did it 1,2,3. Permits took about 3 months which is normal for the type of job they perform.. they contacted PSEG and local townships on my behalf, it was perfect .. Joanne the project manager made me understand some of the background work steps I should be looking forward too as well To date I have only received good experiences when reaching out for questions about system directly to the company and they seem to want to help me anytime I have a concern. Brian in service has also been a great help with some additions to the system I requested. The installation process was fairly quick and they worked neat and made sure the place was left the way they found it. It was installed in one day and took a few days for the system to get approved and turned by PSEG and electrical inspectors they partner up with. After the installation and PTO another representative reached out by the name of jo (different guy) as well that worked in Quality assurance. I thought that part was pretty cool.. they spent about half hour explaining how each part of the system works and how to get assistance if you need it. All in all I would like to thank jo my sales rep, jo from QA , Joanne from project management , Brian from service and the whole team at LIPS for this great experience. I have to tell you, if you want Solar and just solar. A great company. However, if you do a battery system and ANYTHING goes wrong, expect to have it drag on for weeks if not months. I had solar done by Power Solutions in late 2023. Everything went perfectly. We elected to move forward with a battery project b based on how well things went, and if one company can do a 180 in customer service, here it is. Gave a deposit waited a while for the project to begin. Was supposed to be a three day job. Start the project, all is well. Fast forward to day two. I get told they forgot to reach out to my utility to unlock my meter. It happens. No ETA on completion. Utility unlocks and I got told 'one day to complete' fast forward to that day about a week later. Around 2pm the lead tech tells me they won't finish that day and they leave. I have to call to find out when they're back and then escalate to my salesperson who gets them there the next business day. They finish, and the system has problems starting a couple days after completion. They schedule a service call. Bad part. This happens with technology as we all know and understand. I am aggravated understandably because they were bad at communicating the install and I am concerned that service will go poorly as well. Speak to service manager Bryan who tells me 'they're getting the factory out, it's the best we can do.' no apology just gentle ambivalence. Enphase comes on site to fix the problem... there are two problems! Not one. System isn't fixed AND now the system that was mostly working is now shut down with no ETA and no explanation. Fun part of this was, what happens that weekend? Yep, power outage. So the half functional battery that got turned off did not save my power. Vendor comes back with a part... and forgot the second part! We are at over 35 days at this point I complain and they keep trying to assuage my concerns about the tech and literally will not understand that the problem I have is not with the technology, it is with their lack of communication, lack of empathy. Vendor comes back again and the system works. They then spend the better part of three weeks not owning up to their bad customer service, but trying to put their vendor, Enphase under the bus, to the point Enphase called me to discuss... the technical issue! At this point, I have given up, paid them in full as the system now works but I have to tell you, when things go well with these guys they go perfectly. When they go wrong, you are in for a miserable experience. They literally dont understand that you've paid them tens of thousands of dollars and you expect appropriate customer service not finger pointing and excuses. I would give a one star review, but we all know people don't really read one star reviews objectively. You can't do better than Long Island Power Solutions! They made the entire process as easy as can be. They contacted PSEG, they filed the permits, they spec'd the system and installed it in under four hours on the day work was scheduled. I pulled out of my driveway at 7am, and when I got home at 5 there were panels on my roof pumping out kilowatt hours. Henry LaRosa (the sales rep) is completely honest, and all of his calculations for my power needs, my tax rebate, and my out of pocket expenses were 100% accurate. There were NO HIDDEN FEES or payments I wasn't made aware of before hand. My system went live in October of 2016, I haven't had an electrical bill since then! Don't hesitate, these guys are honest. Installed in January and by the March/April billing cycle we had a $0 bill with 200 kw in the bank. Only charge was the $13 PSE&G service charge. This is with electric heat and an electric plug in car. So happy with our system and the service provided by the entire team. Joe was a very knowledgeable salesman and had answers to all our questions. The office was great in getting all permits and working with Brookhaven while keeping us abreast of timing The install team was seamless. The follow up team gave us all the info we needed to ensure our system is running at max efficiency and how to track it with their online system. It's just soooo cool. This is a great company to get solar from. When we finally decided that we had had enough of being PSEG's bitch we started interviewing solar companies. I did research on my own and sat down with around five of the well known companies in Suffolk County and it came down to two of them. After intense scrutiny we chose Long Island Power Solutions and never looked back. We decided to purchase our system outright instead of getting into a power sharing or leasing deal because it is absolutely the best way to do it. Period. We own the system. We own the roof. We get the tax credits. PSEG buys our power now! I wanted a system that would cover more than 100% of our annual usage so we sat down with Henry, our salesman ( who is a really great guy and so knowledgable about every aspect of the system and installation} and got to work. He was totally thorough and knew all the answers to all of my questions and was able to explain all the little things to me, such as how they seal the penetrations, the brand names of the hardware used, and probably a hundred other things nobody asks him. Ask for Henry. We went with 38 LG panels with Enphase micro inverters and it is one beautiful system. What you get when you pay for your system is quality components and a quality installation. You don't see any roofing penetrations or conduit going across or over the roof like you do on the hit and run companies. The panels are top of the line LG Neons and they are surrounded by an installed vinyl coated aluminum mesh so nothing can get underneath them. You don't have a giant inverter on the side of your home with the micro inverters and if you lose one micro inverter you don't lose the whole roof as you do with the single inverter. Their guys did the install in about 5 hours and were really professional and accommodating. Solar is the way to go if you have a newer roof and a lot of sun available. The real selling point is that even if you have to finance the purchase for 10 or 12 years your monthly payment will still be cheaper than your electric bill in most cases. After that you will have 15-20 years of free power! The life of these panels is more than 25 years. Well, obviously I am happy and totally love my system, but what I really love is the $13 electric bill I just got ( you still pay around that much every month because you have to stay connected to the grid so the line charge is unavoidable). I interviewed many companies, some sent kids that really didn't know a heckuva a lot. No problem with sending kids, just teach them. Some companies sent guys showed up 30 mins late, then sat in their cars talking for an additional 20 mins. Only to have them walk in without a stitch of paper, or business card and ask to use my bathroom then emerge 25 mins later and rattle an off the top of his head price! Solar power is great, but if I had it to do over again I'd go with any other company. Since the start LIPS has been horrible to work with. Our system has had problems on and off since 2009 and each time getting LIPS to deal with them takes literally months. They never return calls, they have all kinds of excuses, and basically nothing happens unless you call again and again. Really awful company. Get your solar work done by anyone but them. read more

I have been looking to get solar for about 6 years, and finally narrowed it down to 2 companies. Long Island Power Solutions offered the best deal with the best install equipment and solar options. Could not be happier about the whole process. It took approximately 2 1/2 months from the time I spoke to Justin the sales rep till the time the solar was installed and saving me money. Everyone from this company was very nice, pleasant and professional. When I had a question they would answer it, and the ladies from the office were very helpful and if I need anything they got right back InTouch with me. The team that came to install the system where friendly, pleasant and clean. I was shocked at how fast the system was installed. I had 35 panels installed along with the system and they were done by 2:30 in the afternoon. I also must say that you do not see any wires or conduit on my roof, everything was done through the attic. The company did everything, I did not have to file for a thing. The only thing as a homeowner I need to do is get my finale inspection from the town of Brookhaven. I would recommend Long Island Power Solutions to anyone looking to get solar. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company and I DO NOT RECOMMEND going through with them. They make you take out a loan through a credit card company before they even send an engineer to your house to approve the project. It wound up after we took a loan out that we couldn't get solar because our sales rep did not take an accurate reading of our roof and we would have to make thousands of dollars in updates/repairs that we could not possibly make (even though we told this to our rep numerous times and he assured us it wouldn't come to that). After we didn't go through with it we were stuck with this credit card (which hit our credit score of course) and then they proceeded to charge it $3,000 as a "mistake" and I had to call both the credit card company and LI Power to get the charge reversed. Such a horrible experience and in the future we will go with another MORE reputable company. read more
